Then, it took another 15 minutes to receive water and order. Also, they were out of sushi rice. The table was hastily cleaned, with pieces of food leftover from the last party. It was for sure a busy night and the servers were kind and clearly trying to keep up with the rush, but expectations weren't set clearly. As for the food, there were a few things we enjoyed and a few things that were just ok. We really enjoyed the potato salad with chili crisp and the karaage. The agedashi tofu was good, a tad salty, but was a great portion. The wagyu was delicious and a good value, maybe the best in town. We also got a house sake which was decent. But we didn't like the salmon carpaccio. There was not a lot of fish and an excessive amount of sauce. We opted to get the carpaccio because they were out of sushi rice at the moment and let us know that any rice dishes would take at least an hour to prepare. And given that we had waited 3x what we were expecting, we decided to work around it. I appreciated the clear comms but felt like we were missing out. We ordered five dishes and the total with tax and tip ended up being $111. So for sure on the pricier end for an izakaya. I think I would come back and give this spot another try, especially with a group who are looking forward to trying this place, but it didn't live up to the expectation this time.

This place is really too good to be true as they're switching out good meat for bad meat and mixing it up so you won't notice! went here last weekend and honestly it was such a bad experiance. the whole place just felt dirty. the floors had black streaks everywere and nothing seemed clean. it makes you wonder how the kitchen must look if this is how they keep the dinning area. the service wasnt any better. our server barly came around, and when they did, they forgot part of our order. we had to keep asking for basic things like water, and they acted like we were annoying them. no appology, no effort, just bad vibes all around. the food was so disapointing. the menu is super limited, which is ridiculus considering how expensive everything is. the broth was so bland, it just tasted like hot water. the meat was terrible--super fatty and chewy, like they didnt care about quality at all. my whole family hated it too. my parents said they'd rather eat at home, and my siblings didnt even finish their food. that says a lot. honestly, if you want good shabu, just go to shabuuya. their food is way better, and they actually know how to season broth. this place doesn't even compare. on top of everything, i ended up getting food poisening later that night. it was awful. this place is not worth your time or money. dirty, bad service, overpriced, and the food isnt even good. definatly not coming back. read more

The servers were all over the place it was ridiculous. They kept messing up our orders and couldn't figure out the right tables. Our server introduced themselves to us and then another person would come up to us serving us. Where is the organization? We never got some of our meats or appetizers and I don't even understand how that happens. The price is expensive and I would expect the quality to match but it sorely lacked compared to the various other shabu places I've been to. There were only a couple other tables in the restaurant yet it felt like the food took forever to come out. Service is okay but it felt the server didn't pay much attention to us as he was so busy. Floor was kinda dirty too, there was so much dropped food from the last people who sat at our table and it was really gross. They didn't even clean between table, so disgusting. The food was alright at best. The short plate was alright though a little fatty but still not bad. The appetizers were the best part but it's sad that everything else was so bad. My boyfriend and I were pretty disappointed in this resturant since the reviews were so good. But we will give them some grace since they did just open. Now I'm mad at myself for not coming sooner cuz apparently everyone knew except me. LOL! I ordered the organic chicken katsu curry at spice level 3 and it did not disappoint. The chicken was crispy on the outside and tender inside and the curry was rich, flavorful and had a nice lil kick without being too spicy. The portion was pretty generous too. Customer service was great and the whole food hall was nice and clean. This is only my second time eating at Cheongdam Food Hall so I still have a bunch of the other food spots to explore. Curry Ya definitely made a great impression though and I'll be back! My only complaint is that I wish there were more seats available. The tables are set up to be shared which I don't mind at all but it was a lil annoying seeing people put their belongings on empty chairs they weren't even using so nobody else could sit next to them. Especially when other people are looking for somewhere to sit-- like come on, y'all we gotta share! Other than the seating situation, I really enjoyed my food and totally understand why everyone kept raving about Curry Ya. I should've listened sooner!

The salmon belly is probably my favorite, buttery and basically melts in your mouth. The uni was sooo creamy and sweet with zero bitterness. Everything tasted really fresh. They even have kizami wasabi which was such a nice touch and not something you find at every sushi spot. The Hot Tokyo roll was another favorite. We got it without jalapeños or sriracha and it was still really flavorful. The texture is so good too. It has enough going on that you really don't miss the spice at all. Service is excellent. The server is extremely attentive and the sushi chefs are hilarious. Sitting at the sushi bar is definitely the move. The owner is also incredibly kind and welcoming. Really really good sushi. Definitely one of our new favorite spots and we'll be back!

In Las Vegas? Meh. In the months that I have been here, I have noticed something that continues to amaze me: restaurant owners actually seem to care about what they are serving, and hiring competent staff is apparently considered normal. There is no "Florida Man" in Las Vegas. Here we are in the middle of the desert and the fish is solid, the execution outstanding, and the restaurant is serving serious sushi including uni, super fatty O-Toro and fatty Chu-Toro. The toro was rich and beautifully prepared, and the quality of the fish was exactly what you hope to find when ordering the expensive stuff rather than another restaurant pretending a mediocre piece of tuna becomes premium because they put the word "Toro" next to it. I also had the lotus blossom black rice, and the entire meal showed a kitchen and sushi bar that know what they are doing. Our waiter Kia was thoroughly awesome. Competent, attentive and knowledgeable, which in Las Vegas I am beginning to discover is not some extraordinary occurrence but apparently something restaurant owners actually expect from the people they employ. And perhaps most refreshing of all, you can eat dinner without having to listen to repulsive Long Island retirees complaining because the restaurant doors were not opened at 4:55 PM. The Big Boy says, if you are in Vegas and don't mind a trip to the burbs, I highly recommend Sushi Tanuki and the outstanding waiter Kia.
