We came here to celebrate on my birthday and were not disappointed. We had to make a reservation to ensure that our party could be accommodated. Unfortunately we had to change that # (increase) and ended up being able to switch to a bigger party for a 7pm reservation. The server was pretty patient since there were 11 of us and had not yet been to this AYCE spot. She was explaining about the different soup bases and meal options (upgrade to seafood or premium or meats or the regular meats). One person opted for the seafood which came with a nice presentation. While the rest of us got our trays of thinly sliced meats. We got it all: Beef, Lamb, Pork, Chicken Breast, veggies, some appetizers and different noodles. I opted for Miso broth and Dashi mushroom. Honestly I feel like it was all pretty tasty. The server came to check in on us regularly but we were in the zone with all the cooking and eating. They had at least 10 other tables aside from where we sat and during busier times I cs an see how a 90 minute time limit would be necessary. For dessert we mostly opted for the ice cream-- green tea was pretty hard but the other flavors were fine. The tarot ball took a bit of time too bring out because of the prep time. Unfortunately we were all too full to take advantage of their extensive whiskey and pours they had to offer. They even had some $4 featured whiskey and scotch pours at the front of the restaurant. I would classify Square Shabu as an upscale hotpot restaurant. Everything was very clean and well organized. The portions were also good sized allowing you to try a lot of different items. You have three menu choices: $27.99 for lunch; $32.99 deluxe; $42.99 premium. We tried the lunch menu and were very happy. I got the Sukiyaki soup base and my wife got the House Miso. We had plenty of portions of the beef toro and beef shoulder clod. Because they were out of round, they substituted brisket. We also tried the shrimp, clams and mussels. Found Square shabu because we wanted to go to a hot pot place with separate pots for each person. Square shabu is nestled in a quiet plaza in Summerlin. They had some deals on alcohol going on, $3 whiskey shots (1 per person) going on. There are 2 tiers of AYCE and the difference is 3 better beef options, a special dish (one of the beef tataki, or bone marrow, wasabi octopus etc). The vegetable and hot pot items are self-serve. We got the more expensive option to try it out and the meat were pretty good. I got the beef tataki and it was quite tender and delicious. The bone marrow took an hour but my friend enjoyed it, it was pretty big, with lots of bone marrow. I think what stands out for Square shabu is their sides, they had the potato tornado, and many other sides that were not as common in other ayce places. Overall, not bad, I think next time, if we do come back, we will get the standard option. I went with the $32.99 menu and tried the tonkatsu broth, which was good, though I had to add some chili oil to get more flavor. My bf got the spicy broth, which I actually preferred. I really enjoyed this place. We were a party of 3 and arrived for late lunch around 2:30pm. I think like most AYCE, everyone has to order from the same AYCE menu. The lunch menu includes a variety of beef, pork, and lamb. They have a wonderful bar with plenty of vegetables and mushrooms as well as a great variety of sauces and noodles on the other side. Now I've been to other shabu / hot pot places. I think some of the other places are a bit excessive with the amount of offerings, and I think this place had the perfect amount of offerings. I got the tonkatsu broth, which was very flavorful and creamy. From the appetizers, the mushroom skewers were my favorite. It's lightly battered with tempura (I think) and has a sweet and salty taste to it. I can't remember how many I ordered because it was so good. We tried all the meats and all were delicious, except the pork. The pork was just okay. I think it's because it was very lean. The beef and lamb were fantastic though. For dessert, we had mini fried buns, which came with two per person. You can also get other desserts that are not included such as ice cream for $1.99. I thought the mini buns were okay. It comes drizzled with condensed milk. It was a bit too sweet in my opinion. For the sauces, I had the peanut, chili oil, and their house special soy sauce. Service was fast and friendly. Found this new restaurant near a dim sum place we frequented before. I don't do hot pots very often other than at a home setting. This restaurant is a good way to do hot pot without all the work a prep. What's most important for a good hotpot is having lamb, it's the perfect meat because lamb is fatty er than other meats due to the other meats seem to have a dryer texture when used in hotpot. Went in for lunch with a party of 6 on Saturday afternoon and had an amazing experience. Let me just say this, it is so nice to have this gem of AYCE hotpot in Summerlin! The location is easy to find with ample parking up front. My friend made our reservation for 1pm, however we were running a little behind (shocker lol), the team was understanding and still held our table for us. As we were seated, we noticed that each person would get their own individual burner + pot! A total win for convenience instead of needing to split a pot and potentially spilling your soup as you transfer your food. The variety of broths were amazing, something on the list for everyone! They also have a little self-serve station with a myriad of noodles (including instant ramen); Chinese hot pot sauces, fresh herbs, etc. The menu was on a smaller scale with a ton of beef cuts, and two seafood options (shrimp & squid). We paid $32 per adult for AYCE. We didn't order any seafood since we have to be vigilant about our cholesterol levels. They offered a few appetizers, as well as skewers. We went with the premium menu and overall had a great experience. Each person gets their own personal broth, which we loved since there was no need to agree on one flavor. We chose the signature spicy and sukiyaki broths. The sukiyaki was definitely the standout, super sweet, rich, and flavorful. We tried a variety of meats including premium ribeye, American wagyu brisket, beef brisket, American wagyu clod, and beef toro. All were high quality and cooked beautifully in the broth. The premium menu also included a seafood platter, which was a nice bonus. We also had the beef tataki, which had good flavor but was a bit too chewy for our taste. The gyoza was really good, crispy and flavorful. We also got the tornado potato. My boyfriend really liked it but I didn't love it. There is a self service area where you can grab your own veggies, noodles, and sauces. I highly recommend the ponzu sauce as it paired perfectly with the meats. Our server was incredibly sweet and helpful, walking us through the menu and making great suggestions. The small business owner Gavin is very friendly and checks on customers himself to make sure everyone is having a good time and leaves with a full belly. I love the individual personal hot pots of soup so everyone in your party can have what they want. Meat quality is top notch. I highly recommend the wagyu brisket, so very flavorful and it was my favorite. They also have lamb, but we were too full to try it. I got the mushroom dashi broth and it was perfect. There are a large variety of sides and skewers. I really enjoyed the fish skin, which has the texture of jellyfish and the owner was telling me the sauce is made from sechuan peppercorns which gives a fun numbing of the mouth with the spice. Lots of veggies and items you can add to your soup. Sauce bar is on point with a special homemade sesame sauce that Gavin the owner perfected. And try the house soy sauce too. For the sides we got the beef tataki, sweet shrimp, and they had a special of roasted bone marrow. Highly recommend! For dessert I had to ask what the taro balls were. It's a fried ball with taro inside and is drizzled with chocolate sauce. If taro isn't your thing, they have a variety of ice cream too. Excellent way to end a meal. For drinks there is a large selection of beer, sake, soju, and whiskey. Best whiskey selection at a hot pot place I have seen in Nevada and California. I like their sauce station, I'm from Taiwan so I love some cilantro for my sauce, most of the all you can eat hotpot place don't provide cilantro, another plus is that they actually have white vinegar too, both my favorite when it comes to my sauce. I got their premium menu and tried all their meats except for the chicken. Meats are good but nothing super impressive in my opinion. I got their signature spicy soup base, it was decently spicy and got enough flavor for my meat so no complaints there. For my appetizer, I got their Cajun fries, stuffed tofu and tornado potato, I like the tornado potato the most, but I would recommend if you want to order that, don't come here by yourself, I came solo and the tornado potato comes with 2 sticks, it also kinda overlapped with the Cajun fries. Felt very intimate and staff were kind in explaining the process. We went for the premium option since we all love seafood. Many options to choose from. Cooking your own soup was simply an experience in itself. If you've never tried, I highly recommend it. Multiple add on spices and types of noodles to choose from too. I enjoyed it greatly and would return. My only recommendation would be to improve the dessert options. This was our first time at Square Shabu. We dined early so it was fairly slow when we walked in. It was a beautiful modern room with both booths and half booths. They have a choice of two levels of AYCE Shabu menus. The Deluxe is $32.99/ person and the Premium is $42.99/person. The Premium includes everything in the deluxe plus American wagyu, Lamb, premium ribeye , seafood platter and some others. They also had a large selection of appetizers like potstickers and an assortment of fried skewers. The takoyaki was a hit with my family. There is sauce bar with the traditional ponzu and sesame sauce with the addition of chili sauce, garlic, daikon, green onions and steamed rice. Each person gets their own pot and choice of broth. I'm traditional so I ordered the dash with mushrooms. It is the mildest of all the broths. The other options are actually more like Chinese hotpot. Tomato or spicy choices. The Premium Ribeye was the cut of choice. It was properly cut paper thin so it only takes a few seconds to cook. The fish balls were a big surprise. They are a definite can't miss. They were stuffed with I think fish eggs . It had the coloring of uni and gave it a wonderful burst of flavor. Not too strong subtle but delicious. As much as I would like to gatekeep this place because I don't want their prices to go up in a month or two, I want to share my experience here having dinner last night. I was looking for a new place to try and saw Square shabu pop up on my Yelp, so I took my wife and I here Saturday night. The place wasn't too busy (the area is a bit hidden) and we were seated right away. Riley was our server and I think he was the only server in the place for the most part of our dinner. Despite that, he provided us with amazing service throughout the meal. We were never left wanting. They only really serve 4 types of beef and pork shoulder plus a couple of seafood items on their 32.99 menu, but it was sufficient in filling us up as we probably ordered 10 rounds of 2 items each. I made up my own sauce consisting of ponzu, garlic, and green chili and it was heaven on earth. The meats they serve are really high quality, and please don't overcook them. They also have sake and beer, so the place felt authentically Japanese. For dessert, I beg you to please get the deep fried taro balls. They are life changing. We read all the many amazing reviews and decided to try it out ! Firstly for the price of $32/: I would say there are many other shabu shabu places along spring mountain that offer better values . The meat selections were limited and finely shaved down paper thin ! The vegetables condiment selections very poor - Pa Choy , spinach ? Mushrooms , spams , fish ball etc .. again compare to Nabe , U shabu , Mikiya etc these selections are limited ! While there have many broth selections , my tomatoes broth was bland n salty ! the positive of this place are the friendly servers anf ithe sauces which is fairly good choices !
