We had a family of six dine at Sumo Sushi last night, and unfortunately, the experience was extremely frustrating. My daughter ordered Shrimp Udon. The order was entered, but when it came out, we received a Shrimp Tempura Roll instead. We explained that we had ordered Shrimp Udon and asked for it again. Once again, a Shrimp Tempura Roll came out. At that point, my other daughter personally ordered the Shrimp Udon, thinking there may have been some confusion. Unfortunately, the same thing happened again. We received shrimp tempura, but still no Shrimp Udon. Three separate attempts and the correct dish never made it to our table. What made this even more confusing was that each time we asked about the Shrimp Udon, I could see our server entering something into her tablet. So I genuinely don't understand where the breakdown occurred. The food issue was frustrating and, at that point, almost comical. The wallet situation, however, is much more serious. When we left, my son's wallet accidentally fell out of his back pocket. We realized it shortly afterward and returned to the restaurant. Our server told us, "Oh yes, I saw it there." That statement is important because it establishes that an employee was aware a guest's wallet had been left behind. When we returned to the table, the wallet was gone. No other party had been seated at our table after we left, and we were sitting in the center booth. We are not making an accusation about what happened to the wallet because we were not there when it disappeared. However, there is a very reasonable question that management should be able to answer: **If an employee sees a guest leave a wallet or other valuable personal property behind, what is the restaurant's procedure for securing that property and notifying management?** A guest leaving behind a wallet is not an unusual situation in a restaurant. The obvious expectation is that an employee who notices it would secure it immediately or turn it over to a manager or another responsible person. The guest will almost certainly return looking for it. We went back the following day and specifically asked to speak with a manager. Unfortunately, the response was not reassuring. We were told that the cameras do not cover our table because it is in a "blind spot." I have worked in the restaurant industry in virtually every role, so I understand that cameras do not necessarily cover every single table. But saying a table is in a blind spot does not answer the more important questions: What happened to the wallet after an employee acknowledged seeing it? Who was notified? Was management contacted? Was the property secured? What is the restaurant's policy when an employee sees a guest leave something valuable behind? The manager took our phone number and said he would contact us. At this point, I hope he does, because there are still unanswered questions. To be clear, the incorrect food orders are not the reason for this review. Mistakes happen. The concern is the handling of a guest's personal property after an employee acknowledged seeing it. I am sharing this because management should have an opportunity to review exactly what happened, including the restaurant's procedures and staff training regarding lost property. From a customer's perspective, the combination of repeated order errors and, more importantly, the unresolved wallet situation made this an extremely disappointing experience. I hope Sumo Sushi takes the situation seriously and addresses the questions surrounding it rather than simply attributing the situation to a camera blind spot. read more

Sumo Sushi has an extensive AYCE menu that offers a variety of Japanese dishes that are pretty tasty. It was quite busy when we walked in, but we were able to get seated pretty quickly. Our server was very efficient with taking down our orders and all of our drinks and appetizers came out in a timely manner. We started with the coconut shrimp, seaweed salad, shrimp tempura, and a couple of the skewers. The starters were very good and it definitely got me excited to try out some of the AYCE sushi. We're usually Nigri lovers, so we decided to try out a few of our favorites such as the tuna, cajun albacore, yellowtail, and salmon. All of the dishes were beautifully displayed and looked absolutely amazing. I was really impressed with the little amount of rice you get with the fish because the star of the meal is always the seafood. Most of the rolls, sashimi, and Nigri's tasted fresh but the rice on the rolls had a mushy texture. Sumo Sushi is easily my favorite AYCE sushi spot! It's less than 10 minutes from home, so we've been here more times than I can count and have honestly never had a bad experience. The staff is always friendly and welcoming, and the service has been consistently great. I love the sushi, but my husband is also a huge fan of the interior. There's anime decor throughout, including Naruto and Totoro, and I absolutely love the giant Totoro! Funny enough, my husband doesn't even eat sushi! He usually sticks to their fried rice and pretty much anything cooked on the menu, so there's still plenty for him to enjoy while I get my sushi fix. Dinner AYCE is $34.95, which I think is a pretty decent price, especially because I definitely eat my money's worth. My usual order includes edamame, shrimp tempura, salmon nigiri, yuzu yellowtail nigiri, seared salmon nigiri, and their carpaccio. The sushi is always fresh and good quality, and I really appreciate the sushi-to-rice ratio. Whenever we are in town in Las Vegas, we always try to go to 1 new AYCE sushi spot during our trip. We decided to check out Sumo Sushi since it was close to where we were staying at. We arrived at Sumo Sushi on a Wednesday night for dinner. The sushi restaurant is located in a nice area off Warm Springs Road in Las Vegas. Parking is accessible in the large parking lot out front. The restaurant has fun, vibrant, culturally modern decor. I love the Japanese animation mural on the wall. The cherry blossom tree in the center of the dining room looked whimsical. The atmosphere is family friendly and bustling. We chose the late night AYCE option for $25.95 for each of us. It is such a great value deal. We also got the grape spritzer and strawberry spritzer cocktails for $5.00 each from the late night special menu. Everything we ordered was delicious. The standout favorites from the AYCE menu that we enjoyed the most were the soft shell crab, yellow tail collar, Bruno Mars special, No name roll, Chanel roll, Lobster king roll, Everybody likes roll, and Baked scallop roll. All the sushi rolls looked appetizing and tasted flavorful. Baked rolls are usually my favorite as their baked scallop roll was so scrumptious with every bite. Yellow tail collar was flaky and buttery. Soft shell crab was crunchy and buttery. We appreciate that the rolls can be ordered as half rolls which lets us try more different menu options. Our cocktails were sweet and refreshing. Overall we enjoyed our experience at Sumo Sushi. The staff were friendly and accommodating. I think I found my new favorite sushi spot in Las Vegas! I stopped into Sumo Sushi for lunch today and immediately fell in love with the absolutely awesome dining room! The menu looked pretty extensive and there were so many things I wanted to try. I started with a bowl of miso soup, which was huge. I really appreciated that because most places only give you those tiny little cups. I ordered the Rainbow Roll and the Golden Lobster roll. Both were really good. The rainbow roll was fresh, flavorful, and well made. The Golden Lobster roll was probably my favorite though. The garlic flakes on top kind of looked like corn flakes at first, but they had this really nice garlic flavor that worked super well with the roll. My waiter Gabe was awesome and took great care of me throughout lunch. Service was quick and my food came out really fast, which was perfect since I stopped in during the middle of the day. My only tiny bummer was that they didn't have Diet Coke and only carried Coke Zero in cans, but honestly that was not a big deal compared to how much I enjoyed everything else. Sumo Sushi is hands down our favorite AYCE sushi spot. The variety here is seriously endless, which is one of the main reasons we keep coming back! We have dined here quite a few times, but this was our first time having David/Dave, as our server and he made the entire experience even better. He is hilarious, constantly cracking jokes, and incredibly attentive. On top of that, he really knows the menu! He is honestly such a gem, and we wish we could have him every single time we visit! No matter what day you come, there is usually a wait anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour and a half, but it is always worth it. We love bringing friends here because it never disappoints. The atmosphere is relaxing but still lively, with colorful Japanese inspired decor that makes it feel fun and trendy. We are still hoping to come back one day with another couple and HOPEFULLY get those cool booths on the left side. (Looks like it fits 4 ppl). The food quality is top-notched for an AYCE, but what really stands out is the massive selection. My husband loves the omakase platter and all the nigiri options. As for me, I am pregnant.. so I can't eat anything raw, and am impressed with all their other selections! I am obsessed with the buttered scallops. They literally melt in your mouth and are packed with flavor. We also love the coconut shrimp. It has the perfect sweetness and the sauce is so addicting we could EASILY devour a dozen. The stuffed mushrooms were a newer favorite too. Super juicy, deep fried, and a literal flavor bomb! There's a lot of AYCE sushi just in this cross streets alone, but the mainly reason why I'd suggest this location is simply because of the vibe and decor. AYCE sushi in Vegas all have pretty similar standards and flavors but what really sets them apart is the decor and any specialty dishes. For AYCE you have your standard nigiri's and random sushi rolls that, but my favorite in this place is the squid, mackerel, super white tuna and the eel. They did have a random item that you don't see often which was a spam nigiri. I ordered it just for fun but it's pretty much a small spam musubi. I'd say to stay away from the skewers unless you can't eat fish or you really want to try it. When we got it, the skewers seemed really dry and flavorless. We went there and they had a late night special for $24.99, which we couldn't pass up. Yah there's specialty items that only allow you one piece each but we didn't feel like it at the time. I really enjoyed the interior or the location as it immersion of the decor kind of brings you into a Japanese setting rather than just simple decor. The neon colors, cherry blossom tree and all the signage help bring the atmosphere to be more lively and more than just a restaurant. When it comes to ordering, it seems like you can order from anyone that has a tablet. There wasn't that many people so it was pretty easy to order. We swung by for a Friday lunch and fortunately was met without a wait. Everything that we got tasted fresh and delicious! My favorite was the unagi and surprisingly, the oysters. It was hard to catch the servers sometimes when we wanted to order more, despite the restaurant not being too busy. :/ Luckily, the food would come out quickly after each time we'd order. An aside: the bathrooms here were pretty gross and the toilet seats in the women's restroom were misaligned. I ordered uni, octopus, salmon belly, super white tuna, garlic tuna, unagi among others. My wife doesn't eat raw fishes so she ordered mostly appetizers along with 1/2 dragon roll, tomato unfinished soup, edamame and we shared unagi and octopus. The octopus were undercooked and was a big tough for my wife who has brittle sensitive teeth and wore braces. We saw a sign on the table that said bogo sake and in the photo were also cocktails so we thought the cocktails were bogo as well but they're not. They're $6 each. My wife did order a Diet Pepsi that she never got and we informed the server who rectify the issue. The best part? It's Happy hour after 9pm til close! The fish on the sushi was sliced paper thin, while the rice portions were excessive, which made the quality feel very cheap overall.
