I reached out to transformation station on May 2nd (my wedding is in October). I know my skin can be difficult to work with, so the very first thing I asked was if I could schedule a trial. I received the follow email back (also see screenshot attached): "Hello Tanya, Usually we dont schedule trials until the wedding date is booked with us already because we can ensure our availability or our artists availability. If you would like to move forward let me know and i will send you our bridal contract:)" I took this to mean that I could not schedule a trial without signing the contract, and paying the required deposit. I totally understood that - they want to make sure their artists are going to be available for your date or there's no point in scheduling a trial! So ultimately I end up signing the contract, and paying the 50% deposit (I had 5 bridesmaids, plus my own hair and makeup, so the required deposit was $1150). I scheduled the trial for as early as I could, which was august. This past weekend I had my trial, and honestly it was a pretty good experience! I didn't necessarily have any complaints about the artist, but again my skin is difficult to work with. Also the hair style I was looking for, was simple and I could pretty easily do it at home. I decided (2 days after my trial) that it would be less stressful for me on my big day to do my hair and makeup myself. Now I'll take full responsibility that I should have reviewed the pricing on the website, or the contract more thoroughly. After I communicated with Savannah that I would like my deposit refunded (as I could not schedule a trial to see if I liked the service before paying a deposit) less the cost of the trial of course, I was told that deposits are non refundable and that I misunderstood the email and was able to schedule a trial before putting down a deposit. Again I'll be totally transparent that they did offer to have other artists do a different trial, or just do our hair for the wedding. But I wasn't looking for anything really complex that would justify the $1150 cost. So at this point I just would like my refund for the services that I won't be receiving. After Savannah called me back again, I was told that it shows clearly on the website that deposits are non refundable. I asked to speak with the owner - and was told that she was unavailable, indefinitely. And that again, I misunderstood the required deposit that I was told I needed in the initial email. Planning a wedding is expensive, and stressful enough. We all could make a mistake not reading over a contract thoroughly enough. I'm just disappointed that this business is not willing to make an exception for the miscommunication that I received initially. Good luck to other brides out there, I hope you receive better communication than I did!
