I showed exactly what I wanted simple face framing and long layers but my hair was cut so unevenly that the layers didn't blend at all. There were random short pieces, completely different lengths, and the back was uneven and had no shape. It genuinely looked like a 5 year old had cut my hair, not a certified professional. Almost everyone who has seen my hair since has asked me the same thing: how could this possibly happen at a professional salon? Yes, I received a full refund, and I appreciate that. But I then had to go somewhere else to try to fix the damage. The second stylist had to take off even more hair, so I lost both the length AND the density of my hair just to make it look somewhat normal again. And even now, there is only so much that can be fixed. I have to wait for it to grow out. What frustrated me even more was how the situation was handled afterward. I asked the manager for their number because I genuinely wanted someone to explain to me HOW this happened. She never responded. I got my money back, but I felt absolutely no real empathy or understanding of what I was dealing with just scripted comments like I would be sad like you too and "Everybody loves this hairstylist. That completely misses the point. This is MY hair. I can't undo what was done. Giving me my money back doesn't give me back the length and density I lost or change how awful I feel every time I look at my hair. I wasn't looking for drama or anything extra from them. I just wanted someone to actually acknowledge how badly this went, take it seriously, and explain how something like this could happen with a professional stylist. I never got that.

So I said screw it and let's splurge a little. From my moment I arrived the stylist Nikki noticed my hair needed a special shampoo after she ran her hands through it. The shampoo was called a clarifying shampoo. I'm 40 and no one has ever once used that on me before I didn't even know what it meant. But I really felt like there was attention to detail happening from the moment I walked in. I got a cut from her and she asked my goals and made some immediate recommendations and gave me some options. I picked to grow it out more so we didn't layer it yet. And she styled my head really nicely and suggested a product that was lighter on my hair that I should use and she showed me how she styled it. She also gave me a blowout and did some really fancy style in the back of my hair too. I got my hair color done by her too and she's the first one to notice the parts of my hair that had more stubborn follicles and she went into it with more detail and made extra passes in those parts. Lastly when she did my beard she put aluminum metal sheets over it so the color sets in better, no one has done that with me either. I don't remember everything she said in detail but she spoke like she was a true expert of hair and color. Not your typical stylist that just knows how to do the job, she's a real professional. Lastly she's super friendly and personable, and she made the entire experience very delightful. Worth every penny and more, I'll definitely be coming back here for my hair.

KeepItCut is the perfect choice if you're like me and want/need to get a haircut frequently. Their whole business model is built around this concept and so they offer cheap memberships where you can come in as many times per month with no additional charge (unless you change your plan or ask for additional services). I've been to both the Tempe and Scottsdale locations out of the many others they have around Arizona. Scottsdale is newer and gives a more luxury vibe, whereas Tempe gives more of a classic barbershop feel. Both are outstanding and have the best staff that are not only great at what they do but are friendly and make the experience enjoyable. I have been going to Felicia mostly for the last 2 years after seeing another Yelp review for the Tempe location that recommended her and she surpassed expectations. She always hooks it up with the fade and trim off the top. She's now the manager of the newer Scottsdale location so definitely schedule with her next time you need your hair did. read more

On my way there she texted directions and stood outside to find me, which was a much appreciated gesture since Old Town can be so confusing! The salon itself is so cute!! I met with Tilly inside the salon who I would now trust with my life with my hair! Initially I wanted to get some light pieces through my hair, but I've truly put my fine thin hair through the gamut in the past year (bleaching/lightening my hair previously, then dumping dark box dye). She did a strand test and demonstrated how my would basically snap. She didn't feel comfortable proceeding in lightening my hair, which I feel speaks to her standing by her craft, and not necessarily trying to make a quick buck. I can't say I was surprised when I heard the news, and though it wasn't initially what I had anticipated, we worked through some options and she suggested low lights and a hair masque since it was dimension that I was looking for. The head massage was heavenly!! When Tilly turned the chair around to unveil my hair, I was so pleasantly surprised! I didn't think a few lowlights would make a big difference, but it gave my hair life again. Whatever magic she worked on my hair also made it feel so much healthier at home! It's been 2 weeks since my appointment and I've notice my comb going through my hair way more easily, with less breakage stuck in my comb. The pricing was also extremely fair. I'll be back for my future hair needs!

I've been a client at Salon Rock for about a year but have seen Acacia personally for about two…read moreyears, and unfortunately, my most recent experiences have been VERY disappointing. When I first started seeing Acacia, I was impressed with her skill in color correction and cuts, which is why I was willing to pay higher prices and trusted her enough to experiment with different toners and colors. That trust, however, has been broken after multiple negative experiences. A few months ago, I asked Acacia if she was comfortable doing a gray dye, and I made it clear that if she wasn't, was fine not pursuing the look. She assured me she could. After nearly 7 hours in the chair, my hair turned out cobalt blue underneath platinum blonde- completely different from what I requested. Instead of taking accountability, she blamed the product, despite admitting she used a discontinued color she wasn't familiar with because she was rushing before a trip. I was charged $360 and only refunded the dye after I asked. The experience left me devastated, and I ended up cutting off a significant portion of my hair due to the damage. Despite this, I gave her another chance for a root touch up. I clearly communicated the date of my upcoming wedding and when I could pay. Acacia showed up a week early, then became upset witj me for the mix-up, even though the correct date had been communicated over text. Later, she asked me for a "generous tip" which felt unprofessional and entitled. When I ultimately canceled my rescheduled appointmen (with notice), she became upset and claimed I should pay her a deposit or cancellation fee- neither of which had ever been mentioned in the years I've been her client, nor are they listed on Salon Rock's website. Accusing me of being disrespectful, she blamed me for her own scheduling choices, which I find highly unprofessional. Policies like deposits and cancellations are valid if communicated upfront, but inventing them after the fact and blaming clients is absolutely unacceptable. After years of loyalty, I'm deeply disappointed in the lack of professionalism, accountability, and respect for clients' time and money. I would strongly caution anyone considering this salon or stylist to be aware of this issue.

Unfortunately, this time was a complete disappointment. It seems like going through Groupon may not have been the best choice, possibly because salons have to take a cut on those deals. Still, as paying customers, we expected a service that delivered visible results. Instead, my wife was told that partial highlights would be "subtle" and was encouraged to upgrade to balayage for an extra $30. Since this was her first time with highlights, she decided to stick with the original partial highlights. The result? Barely any visible change. You literally can't tell she had anything done--not a single person noticed. We ended up spending over $70 and walked away with virtually no difference in her hair color. The only redeeming part of the visit was that she got a nice haircut. Attached the pic after partial highlights for reference. Overall, we're quite disappointed and wouldn't recommend this place for highlights--especially if you're going through Groupon.
