I came to AZ for a wedding and chose this shop because it was nearby. The haircut itself was…read moreexcellent--no complaints there. However, when it came time to pay, I noticed that the lowest preset tip option was 35%. While I take responsibility for not questioning it at the time, I felt pressured to go with that amount since it was presented as the minimum. During my conversation with the barber while he was cutting my hair, he asked where I was from, and I mentioned California. I'm not sure if tipping rates for haircuts are generally higher in Arizona or if this was influenced by me being from out of state I reached out via message here on yelp for clarification but never received a response. Because of this tipping setup and lack of communication, I'm deducting two stars--otherwise, it would have been a perfect five-star experience.

He said the reason was that the AC went out -- which I understand is out of his control -- but we still sat in the lobby for 30 minutes. During that time, the barber never once came out to introduce himself, apologize in person, or even offer water while it was hot inside. What's sad is that based on the pictures of his work, both my son and I were excited -- but skill doesn't make up for lack of professionalism and basic courtesy. At the end of the day, this is a service, and the experience matters. As first-time clients, this was enough to guarantee we won't be coming back.
