Aspen was super sweet, attentive and patient while cutting my son's hair. Our appointment was at 7 but she took him earlier and got us out the door before 7. Although my son is quiet around people she was able to make him smile. She did such an amazing job, too! I didn't have to show her a picture of how I wanted to cut his hair. Apparently you can't book an appointment over the phone. You have to download the app. My advice for this establishment is to train the employees how to take time out of their busy day and treat people who are calling in to book an appointment just as if they were standing in front of them. I hate getting haircuts. I have to schedule an in opportune time in my busy day and then go sit and wait. I also want to point out that hair grows back way faster than I want to go spend more time - AND MONEY - on cutting my hair. Out of pure spite, I was just going to shave my head. Watch out, cause this place will cut you good! I first met Jacob the owner at a yelp sponsored guys night out and immediately fell in love with the whole monthly rate concept and the decent haircut I received. Pay once and come as often as you want, yes please. If you're not careful, I might just end up sitting in the chair all day, every day. While that would be detrimental to my employment (not showing up and all), my hair would look mighty fine, all the time! ;-) On my second visit, my awesome first impression was cut down a little, but I'll give them a few more tries before a final conclusion. The wait was just about all I could bear. After arriving and adding my name to the list close to about 5pm on a Wednesday, I saw four people waiting and two stylists working. At a minimum it looked like I'd be sitting for 30 minutes. Alas! My name was called, turned out to be a 25 min wait. The following visits here, have certainly sealed the deal for me. I visited on a lunch break about 11 (ish) am on a Thursday. Put my name in, sat down, and was called up to the chair about 30 seconds later. Impatience has certainly paid off for me coming during a lunch break. I told them to cut the sides about a 4 and trim the top to match. That's generally been my go to cut, for a few years now. It should be noted that this particular visit has spoiled me to every other stylist here; Mari, OMG Mari does an awesome job, every time! Let's fast forward a few visits now, I've decided that the monthly membership is an awesome concept. For $24 a month plus a few $ each visit for a tip, I'm spending between $30 and $40 a month, depending on how diligently I keep up my weekly lunch cuts plus a tip on each visit. I missed Mari a few times and determined that she's the $#!T, and I won't let anyone else there keep me cut. I was complaining about how my hair parted one day; a month or so ago, and gave her carte blanche to basically do whatever she felt like. That day, I ended up with a 1 on the sides and back, a hard part, and the top long but faded into the sides. OMG, I don't think I can ever go back to the nondescript 'short on the sides and trim the top' cut that I was so accustom to. They're a no frills sort of place, if you want to be served a beer while you sit or a scalp massage when you're done, you will be disappointed here. If you're thinking about a new style or even just your usual cut, I implore you to make Keep It Cut your new stop, and certainly ask if Mari is there. You won't regret it, she really is the number one reason I keep coming back, week after week! (number two being the monthly subscription) Now for the harsh reality, the negatives. I'd love to see some sort of appointment setting or call ahead scheduling, I might even be willing to spend some extra for that sort of, jump ahead of the line at 6pm sort of service. Coming in after school lets out for the day turns this place into a glorified super cuts, so many kids waiting to get their hair cut, and why not, they make getting a haircut soo affordable. After most of the staff has left this location, the location has turned into an absolute disaster. One person to be exact, her name is Aspen is nothing but rude. After she was late for about 25 minutes, she had the audacity to call my partner and yell over the phone on "what the issue was". Not only did she not apologize for being late (and this is not the first time), she also had excuse after excuse. She stated that it was not an appointment and that they are reservation times (although the app says appointment). She then followed with her excuses and rude tone versus trying to fix the issue. She is the issue, her issue is she is not taking accountability for her actions. Be an adult and own up to your bad work ethic. If she is falling behind maybe she should inform her client instead of calling and yelling over the phone when her clients leave because SHE IS BEHIND SCHEDULE as usual. Absolute unacceptable behavior! Do not go to her unless you want horrible unprofessional service, wait past your appointment time (that is scheduled), or to be yelled at if you leave because she cant handle her schedule and is always behind. One of the quickest and modest unimaginative haircuts I have ever received. The haircut took all of 7 minutes (appointment is suppose to be 20 minutes long). I even showed a picture and had conversation with the stylist abut what I was looking, but it was totally ignored. If you are looking for a scissor cut really explain to them you are and make sure the stylist is comfortable doing so or you will leave here looking like you are ready to enlist. I have been going to Keep it Cut for more than 5 years. I love this place. The stylists are all great too! Shout out to Marisa. I wish I could give this place a 5/5. Minus 1 star due to the horrible apple app. It is always crashing and not user friendly. It has confirmed my scheduled appts - when I show up to the appt, I am told it was either scheduled on a diff day or wasn't scheduled at all. I now screenshot my appts when I schedule them on the app - just in case. I have been able to prove that it wasn't my incompetence and was due to the app's error. I went to this location after Keep It Cut Tempe did a poor job on my hair and it needed to be fixed. Let me say that I love the way that Jacob runs this business...you can tell he treats the stylists well because they all seem happy and take their time to make sure that you like your haircut. Unlike most salons (Super Cuts, Sport Clips, etc), Keep It Cut isn't unit driven and will treat you with respect. That being said, my poor experience at Keep It Cut Tempe isn't indicative of how the overall business is run and seems to be limited to just one stylist. I went in around 7:30pm and they close at 8. I expected to see tired, worn out stylists but I didn't. Everyone was still upbeat and VERY friendly. I saw Nancy who did a quick analysis on my precious haircut and was like, "Yeah, it's messed up." She took the time to fix it and make sure every hair was even and properly in place. What a great stylist! Overall, very pleasant experience at this location. Glad I have the membership for unlimited haircuts because it saved me having to pay for another haircut. read more

So I went there and then try to sign in to get my son a simple haircut and the hair dresser that was on the computer as I walked in. Just looked me up and down didn't even offer to assist me to sign in or make a appointment. I came with Mr. W. and Linh L. tonight for a Yelp event and the guys were offered hair cuts and gift certificates for a free cut in a future visit. Mr. W. decided via peer pressure to get a cut now instead of waiting to use his certificate and it was great. His hair no longer looks like an overgrown palm tree. Location: Same parking lot as Sprouts and Angry Crab. Only a few stores down from the latter. Aesthetics: Not nearly as cramped as a Barber, but not as posh as a salon. Very open layout, and also very modern and clean. Nothing dark and dingy about this place. Price: if you get your haircut once a month or more, this place will more than pay for itself. With the limited haircuts plan starting as low as 23$ a month, a trip every three weeks will have you about even with most other places. I try and go once a week to keep things nice and clean. They do have plans that include shampoo or beard or both as well. Employees: When you walk in there is an ipad for you to sign into. More often than not, I am already greeted by the end of the short process. I have had 3-4 different stylists, and all have done a great job. I haven't had a bad cut from any of them (although it would be nice if they kept a file on what haircut we get each time EDIT - they do keep a record now so that is nice). Overall: If you live nearby, or even drive by the 51 at all, you owe it to yourself to check this place out.
