The TV is on its way out & I can't repair plasma any more cuz can't get parts." I asked him to come over to confirm the diagnosis & he did & he was right. And he also noticed a burning odor, not good. That was yesterday. So I figured I'd have to go buy a new TV & then get Jim back to install it. Until Jim offered to go get me a TV, bring it to the house, set it up, and I do nothing. And I'd have the new TV next day. Music to my ears. Jim & his son just left my house. They delivered my new Samsung flatscreen, installed it, set up the existing Tivo for me, hauled away my super-heavy old plasma. They were in & out in a flash. They were exactly on time, as always. Didn't slam it walked away like he was just as pleasant as the wind and sweet and well mannered as my own. I looked high and low for this representative face in Target, God knows I didn't get his name, he had on glasses he was very slim, well groomed. If anyone can teach this employee. Please inform management, its the holidays and not every employee has this type of demeanor. Im coming to Target from now on, YES BC OF HIS WELCOMING VIBE. Tuesday: Laptop went black. Work IT spent an hour trying everything but no luck. Two huge filing…read moredeadlines next week. I was screwed. Deviceland was the only authorized Apple servicer that could see me that day. Dropped off the laptop. Went home angry at the world. Wednesday: Got a call from Sohail, the lead tech. He said that the part (a display card) had been ordered but he was unsure when it would arrive because the delivery service was showing only that the label had been created. He confirmed that he was able to back up my files. The following two things he did is why I am so happy: (1) Sohail carefully explained to me - a Luddite - what was damaged and what a replacement part could do to my laptop and (2) if I wanted to keep working on the two documents, he could loan me an external hard drive until my laptop was repaired. Thursday: Picked up the loaner external hard drive. Sohail did not charge me for it. Friday: Got my laptop back before lunch. It's working well! From now on, if I have any issues with any Apple product, I'm taking it to Sohail at Deviceland. No more waiting in line to see which blue T-shirt Apple genius at the Apple Store will help me. Unfortunately, my experience with this repair center was far below expectations. My laptop only…read moreneeded a simple keycap replacement. While a few keys were replaced, one key that should have been addressed was completely missed, and two of the installed keycaps were improperly fitted, they weren't seated correctly. When I contacted the technician who performed the service, they dismissed the poorly installed keys as "fine to use" and insisted I trust their years of experience. They also told me to wait for a full keyboard replacement part that hadn't even been confirmed by the manufacturer/Apple. I explained that, regardless of any future replacement, the keys needed to be properly installed now so I could comfortably use my device. Instead of acknowledging the issue, the technician talked over me and continued to rely on their experience as an excuse, which is unacceptable and unprofessional. We eventually agreed, after I rearranged my own schedule, to have the technician return the next business day (this was a home-visit service) to correct their mistakes. Conveniently, they then reported a medical issue and canceled, saying they wouldn't be available until the following week, which also happened to be when they expected to hear back about the unconfirmed keyboard part. Ultimately, I had to contact Apple directly, which turned out to be the better option. Still, this repair center wasted my time and energy with misinformation, incomplete and poorly executed repairs, and an unwillingness to take responsibility. They expected me to wait on their timeline, blamed manufacturer policies and communications, and tried to steer the situation to their own convenience, all while I was left without a properly functioning computer. I do not recommend this repair center for any type of repair. You're better off dealing directly with the manufacturer or finding another service provider.
