The staff are the best ~ so friendly and smiley. Their fish and chips are top tier but I mainly became a regular for the staff. The fish is always is a sizeable (if a piece is too small, they give another small) and I'm always well-satiated after single w/chips. And I love that they allow dogs on the patio And almost everything they use is compostable. Ambience is eco-fun.

Crunchy Fish and Chips

Came here for fish and chips with the family on a sunny and cool day. They were tasty, served hot and full of crunch. I like that service was able to get condiments available on hand. Location is easily accessible from around the lake after quite some walking. When craving for fish and chips I would come to Spud!

Hey stay 6ft back so I can order my fish & chips

SPUDS FISH & CHIPS on Green Lake is an institution for North Seattle Locals... Nothing more satisfying than a double fish & chips with cup of Chowda after a walk around Green Lake. First of all what a lunch time view you'll have while dining. However it's not the view it's the decades of quality fish deep fried fish served to perfection that keeps me dining. Every meal has tasted the same since I first stated dining here back in the 80's as a young punk swimming at the lake all summer long... The variety, quality and serving size is epic . Prawns , Claims & Fish on top of a mountain of some of the freshest Idaho potatos aka French Fries accompanying my order. Kudos to management for always having exceptional staff to handle my orders, it does not go unnoticed. Well I'm not sure I can elaborate anymore about how sensational Spuds Fish & Chips on Green Lake has been... So you're gonna have to stop by and grab a bite!

fish and chips! (1 piece) such a big piece btw

yes so fire! a little walk away from the bus stop, but spud's is worth it forsure. the crispiest, yet juiciest fish. the fish portion was HUGE and not too fishy, and the chips (fries) are to die for. definitely try the seasonings and dressings they provide too, you wont be let down. the tartar sauce is light and creamy and bright. service was 5/5! super friendly and helpful, as it was our first time. theres indoor and outdoor seating across from a huge park, which allowed us to people watch. overall, super clean place with super clean food. not greasy at all, and in fact felt really clean to eat. one of my favorite fish and chips spot in seattle & ill be back!

I consistently have great service here. The staff are always welcoming, friendly, and helpful. The fish and chips are delicious, and I always get the vanilla milkshake! The space is clean and overlooks Green Lake, making it a great spot to dine in if you want to enjoy your meal fresh

Outdoor seating

An old classic of Greenlake, Spud Fish and Chips has been delivering a distinctive, flavorful cod fish and chips for decades. It tastes like home whenever I'm here. The outdoor seating has been upgraded from the weatherworn tables that used to be outside, and there's indoor tables and bar seating now too. The cheerful servers behind the counter were only too happy to explain the menu and portion size. When we sat ourselves outside, one of them brought the food to the table. There's no one hollering my name here!. Almost everything is served in compostable or recyclable containers, which I appreciated. The local microbrew and wine selection is also par for the course in this area. Prices... well, yikes, fish is expensive. On my most recent visit, I also tried the clam chowder. It's super thick and served in a sealed container; too hot to eat right away. I ended up bringing it home.

Menu prices as of 10/23/2024

Been awhile. I did not expect $40 for three piece fish and large fries. The food was good but I have to wonder why? This Greenlake location's prices are 50% higher than all the other Spud's locations. Don't know if it is Seattle's new minimum wage or high rent in this building. Portion of fish is a palm and a half. Good but not exceptional. At these prices I would strongly consider eating at a local restaurant.

fish and chips!

they have really good fish and chips, it's a lot crispier than any other fish and chips I've tried and they have really good tartar sauce and special seasoning for the fish! the workers are very kind too :)

Seasoned vinegars.

We were traveling to Whistler, Canada and decided to drive tour downtown Seattle. Since the parking situation was not optimal per other reviews of theft (and we had some roof rack items not locked) we decided not to do the overcrowded, downtown fish market. We were determined to try local fish and chips as fresh fish is the only thing that makes it. Looked up places in Seattle but off the touristy path. Very glad we did. This is located in a charming, more residential area. There was ample parking nearby where we could check up on our gear and it was across from a beautiful park and lake. Spud had a casual vibe, a dog friendly patio for our pooch, great fish and chips, and friendly counter service. As a bonus we had a nice stroll across the street, at the park/lake afterward, before getting back on the road. I would definitely recommend!

Fish and chips, onion rings, fried oysters. Clam chowder not pictured was good but very thick

I've been wanting to try this place for awhile and I am so glad I finally did! We ordered a few things to share and every single dish was delicious! Shrimp toast: this was a great appetizer to share! Very crispy and the sauces on the side gave it a more complex flavor! It came with a sweet mayo and chili sauce. The chili sauce is definitely spicy if you can't handle spice so beware on how much you're using if that's the case. I also really enjoyed the slaw that came with it, it was very refreshing and it had a bit of sweet mayo flavor to it, I think it's the same as the dipping sauce but I could be wrong! Fried oysters: these were delicious! I think fried oysters can be a hit or miss for me, sometimes the interior can feel too dry and feel kinda of mushy-like, like I'm eating bread rather than seafood. But this had great texture on the inside while being crispy on the outside! The sauce on the side tasted like a pepper aioli which gave the oyster a nice tang *the fried dishes were great but after having a few, it definitely felt heavy, so this would be something I share with someone else vs eating it on my own Smoked salmon belly dip: I really enjoyed this! It was creamy and had chunks of salmon in it. It wasn't too dense or thick so it was perfect for scooping onto the kettle chips. The kettle chips were lightly salted so it was the perfect combo with the dip. Clam chowder: wow I absolutely loved this! This is different than any other chowder I've had. While I love a white creamy chowder from your typical seafood places, the base being a fish stock definitely brought out the seafood flavor vs a white chowder feeling like a cream base. This chowder still felt creamy and rich without the seafood flavor being overpowered. Rockfish bowl: the crab rolls were sold out by the time we made it to the register so we opted for this instead and I am so glad that we did. I didn't really expect this to blow me away but this was such a refreshing dish that balanced out the fried dishes we got. It used viet flavors that you may typically find in a banh mi which made it refreshing and had great texture from all the different fresh ingredients and fried garlic. I also loved how the fish came in patty form mixed with pork, it was flavorful and moist. I love any type of fish tofu/patty, I think it really makes fish flavorful when it sometimes can have a really mild flavor. I'll definitely be back to try the crab rolls!

So when I woke up still craving shellfish, RockCreek was the call. It was the right one. A dozen oysters to start: Kumamoto and Shigoku. Clean -- no grit, no sand. Whatever they're doing back there, it's working. The brine was full and present in every shell, and the mignonette hit that rare sweet spot of light but actually seasoned. The Winter Old Fashioned? Get it. It was so delicious. Then came the crab Benedict. The side salad alone was worth writing home about -- big, buttery, peppery leaves draped in one of those feather-light vinaigrettes that sounds simple until you try to replicate it at home and realize you can't. But the real star of the entire plate was the potatoes. Crispy outside, genuinely fluffy inside, seasoned with conviction. A masterpiece is not too strong a word. Closed with a glass of pink wine. Was eyeing the bottle with the piglet on the label, but it was bottle-only -- a distinction I find increasingly arbitrary as a former server and bartender. One day that policy will be a relic. Not yet, apparently. Best brunch I've had in Seattle in two years. Highly recommend.

We ordered some of our go-tos -- hamachi crudo, tuna tartare, and calamari -- and everything was spot on. The vinegar dill fries are exceptional: thin, super crispy, and loaded with seasoning (honestly hard to stop eating). We also tried the loaded fish sandwich and the cornmeal-battered lingcod -- both solid choices. Spicy margarita lived up to its name with a nice kick. It was pretty dead when we arrived around 5pm, with only one other larger table seated, which made for a relaxed, easygoing happy hour. Always a dependable spot when you're craving seafood done right.

Unfortunately, the experience beyond that left a lot to be desired. The host staff was unwelcoming and not particularly accommodating -- not exactly the warm first impression you'd hope for. Service throughout the meal was slow, which made what happened next all the more frustrating: despite the delays on their end, we were asked to leave at the two-hour mark. This would be understandable under normal circumstances, but we still had full drinks in front of us and several guests at the table were still actively finishing their meals. When slow service is the reason a table runs long, enforcing a hard cutoff feels tone-deaf at best. White Swan is a solid choice if you're stopping by for a casual patio beer -- the atmosphere earns its keep. Because we were so close to our dining neighbors, I was actually able to ask them what they were eating since it looked so good. And that's how we ended up with some mind blowing fritters. A perfect appetizer to start the night. They have a great selection of wines that are actually reasonably priced to buy by the bottle. I'm pretty sure I saw someone taking one home that they drank a few bottles out of also, which is a first. I was impressed by the creativity of the dishes as well. I'm not one to be impressed by cabbage, or ever order it, but the charred cabbage looked enticing. The cheese on the bottom, seasoning, and dates transformed this ordinary vegetable into a star. And of course you gotta see what they're doing with the seasonal veggies. I can't seem to ever cook squash the right way, but they crafted it into the ideal consistency where it was almost meaty. That New York Strip was out of this world though... the garlic sauce that accompanied it was just enough of a flavor enhancer that it didn't take away from a steak that was cooked to the ideal temp. When we first arrived we were given the option of either the chef's counter or a table. I thought the chef's counter was a unique experience but for the night we opted for a table near the window. The space is intimate and even though there weren't many people there when we first got there, it still gave a warm and cozy vibe (quickly filled up though). The week of my friend's birthday they were only doing Seattle Restaurant Week, which I hadn't realized at first but the menu was amazing regardless. The staff was very attentive to us, constantly checking in on us and making any adjustments as needed. They thoughtfully walked us through our choices and when the food arrived. First we started with appetizers which I thought it was nice that you get to try all them and didn't have to choose one. The salad and asparagus is what you would expect, but they were perfectly done and not overly complex. The stand out was the Seared Tombo, the flavors of this dish were balanced and the fish was clearly very fresh! For our main we both got the halibut option, which came with a side of sunchokes. We had never had sunchokes before but were immediately in love (the fish was cooked to perfection too) but I loved the introduction of not so common ingredient. I thought it was a fun play on traditional "potatoes" almost. I'm glad we were able to try both of the desserts. My favorite was the tiramisu (I always love tiramisu). The carrot cake was more on the dryer side (almost like a cornbread), which isn't my preference but I enjoyed the flavors. Overall, really enjoyed this place and would definitely come back!

Similarly, we paid $23 for a seared tombo and were given four thin slices of meat. I feel slightly robbed paying about $80 and leaving quite hungry.
