    Halibut Tosticeviche in the bag
    Gina B.

Hot days call for cold dishes, right? Sandwiches, pasta salad, cold Asian noodles, sushi, poke, but how often does a Seattleite think of..... ceviche?? Well Seattle, Shark Bite Ceviches recently opened in Stumbletown. I've been here twice and so far I've tried the salmon ceviche plate, the halibut tosticeviche (sp?) and shrimp tosticeviche. The generous portion of ceviche was bursting with delicious citrus flavor. The fish is cut into tiny pieces, making it easier for scooping up. However, I prefer when the fish is cut up into slightly bigger pieces so that I can taste it better. Now the tosticeviche was a surprising little adventure. I decided to try it on a whim not expecting to love it due to the amount of different ingredients that were put together in a chip bag, which I questioned would work cohesively. But man was I wrong! The tajin, ketchup, hot sauce, Tostitos salsa verde chips, Japanese peanuts, jicama, cucumber, avocado, and ceviche mixed together is a magical combination of flavors and is what I must get from Shark Bite from now on. Keep in mind, the server will give you a choice of whether or not you want all three choices: tajin, ketchup, and hot sauce. You also can have it served in the Tostitos bag or a to go box. I like it in the bag because the chips soak up the ceviche juice but I also like it in the box since it is cleaner. In addition, there are a ton of hot sauce options available to spice things up, if you so please. The large outdoor picnic benches with umbrellas are the perfect invitation to spend a warm day enjoying your cool meal. I think this might be a new summer hangout for me.

We bought the halibut ceviche and it was DELICIOUS!! We took it to-go and ate it with some guacamole and devoured it. My ONLY criticism is that the chips weren't very tasty...We had some lime tortilla chips at home so ate it with those instead and it was perfect! I bought additional shrimp ceviche so I'm excited to eat that tmrw The guy working was super friendly and nice. There was a cute patio area to eat outside so next time I'd like to sit and eat there. Definitely will be back for more!

Customer service, atmosphere, and food were all amazing. Could barely finish the plate of shrimp ceviche, and it was very reasonably priced! The perfect summer spot, I highly recommend!

    Halibut and Tuna ceviche

We tried the halibut, tuna, salmon, and shrimp ceviche and it was all a 10/10. I would highly recommend this spot if you're looking for fresh and authentic ceviche.

Our office gets a list of the weekly offerings on Monday, so when I heard that later in the week there would be Salu-Salo Filipino Kitchen, bringing Filipino food, I most definitely made lunch plans. I was coming in from a meeting in Fremont, so didn't go to the pop-up/Salu-Salo Filipino Kitchen as soon as it started service (around 11am). With that said, I nearly missed out on the chicken adobo! I took the last of the chicken adobo an hour and a half after the lunch service started, so was counting my blessings! I ordered the lunch plate, which came with chicken adobo, pancit, rice and pickled veggies. My lunch plate was solid. Chicken adobo was tender and really, really liked how vinegar-y the flavor was, which, any Filipino would tell you that all food tastes better with vinegar! Pancit wasn't bad, but not the best. Some of the noodles were on the dry side, but I did like the cabbage and green onion throughout. Pickled veggies were a nice addition, adding more sour flavor to the overall entree. For someone who hardly ever has Filipino food and desperately misses mom's cooking, I was just happy to have Salu-Salo bring some adobo to the area. I would definitely recommend checking out Salu-Salo if you ever see their stand around. They don't update their social media channels, unfortunately, so is a little difficult to find where their stand will be. And when I asked if they participate in any markets, they do not. But the owners did mention that they visit downtown Seattle often at other office buildings around. Therefore, I have a feeling I'll be seeing them soon and getting my Filipino cuisine on. (Plus, bonus points for the owner being from the Bicol region of the Philippines, which is where my mom's side is from. Love that!)

Salu-Salo offers a wide variety of dishes with unique flavor profiles. With some of the dishes, I can't compare them to anything I have ever tried before. For example, my favorite dish on the menu is the Laing Express, which is made with coconut milk, taro leaves, topped with a delicious crispy piece of pork belly. With a topping of pork belly, how could anything go wrong? This dish has an amazing earthy flavor, with a bit of a kick to it. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. How often to you get to eat purple desserts? Ube cake gets its color from purple yams! Salu-Salo's ube coconut topped ube cheesecake balls are not just adorable, they are addicting. Not overwhelmingly sweet, and perfect for sharing, these are a treat. For those with dietary restrictions, Salu-Salo is a great option because there are plenty choices. As someone who is gluten free, all of the main dishes are fair game. This is often very rare when dining out for me!! Here's to Salu-Salo for exposing Seattleites to what Filipino food is all about. Rosario's cuisine feels like a healthy take on comfort food. Each dish bursting with flavor, yet still accessible to all ages. The idea behind comfort food is all about the thought that goes into the prep. After tasting Salu-Salo's food, I promise you can tell a lot of care goes into the preparation of each dish. I am looking forward to this becoming a Seattle institution, and hope it inspires more Filipino cuisine to start popping up in the PNW.

Full of fresh flavor, a very generous amount of chicken, and dark green veggies. The girl taking orders (the younger one with a small tattoo behind her ear) provides wonderful service and is very kind. One thing that I almost considered taking away a star on, but more then anything just hope they will read and take note of, is the girl cleaning the stove was using a metal wire brush with great force on the BBQ. This has always been, but it gaining more attention lately, a very dangerous method of cleaning. These wires break off and if they get on the food can do extreme damage to the body. The meat is charred when served (Which is good) but also makes it hard to look at for a small piece of metal that might be there. I know the grill is hot all day, but they really need to think of a more safe way to clean the grill.

I went into the bathroom after I ate because it is a natural bodily reaction to have to poop after eating filling food. I was have bowel problems during this whole dinner. I went to the bathroom, first thing I see is toilet paper on the ground, I locked the door and unknowingly sat on the toilet. There was poop on the LID. I started screaming, nobody came to help. Not even a "are you okay?" I let my poop out naturally because of my shock. It dropped in the toilet and at this point my buttocks was soaked in toilet water from the impact splash. I reach for toilet paper and feel nothing. Immediately my heart drops, my head started sweating, and my mind went empty. My natural reaction was to yell "SHIT" nobody came. There was silence, the only noise was my heart pounding in my head. I ran to the paper towel dispenser, it was broken. All these employees acted so nice, it was all fake. These son of bitches don't have feelings, I was in pain on the toilet helpless and they didn't even care to give a little knock. They then asked me to leave the building through the door crack. Not even a "Hello?" "Are you okay?" I was simply horrified, disappointed, and I started rethinking how fucked up human creatures are. I think awareness needs to be spread about this. I am simply destroyed by how mean people are these days.

This was during Sakura Con, and for being one of several food stands occupying real estate around the Seattle Convention Center Arch Building, it gets a ton of traction. Big props to the lone server and cook who was taking orders back and forth from my friends and I and others who rushed to grab some food; he was cooking, taking payments and answering questions all throughout the time we were there. No seating or restrooms available here as it's outside. They were also out of vegan hot dogs, which didn't sit too well with one of my friends. For the Seattle Dog, it's a regular hot dog with caramelized vegetables in a somewhat lightly crispy bun and topped with some cream cheese. Hot dog was so good, vegetables added an extra savory tone that complimented the hot dog, and bun was so tasty I could have asked for another Seattle Dog, though each totals up to $10 before tax, which sounds pretty pricey for a hot dog. Regardless I would still come back here during conventions if I don't want to have anything inside the convention center itself.

I've been wanting to try this place for awhile and I am so glad I finally did! We ordered a few things to share and every single dish was delicious! Shrimp toast: this was a great appetizer to share! Very crispy and the sauces on the side gave it a more complex flavor! It came with a sweet mayo and chili sauce. The chili sauce is definitely spicy if you can't handle spice so beware on how much you're using if that's the case. I also really enjoyed the slaw that came with it, it was very refreshing and it had a bit of sweet mayo flavor to it, I think it's the same as the dipping sauce but I could be wrong! Fried oysters: these were delicious! I think fried oysters can be a hit or miss for me, sometimes the interior can feel too dry and feel kinda of mushy-like, like I'm eating bread rather than seafood. But this had great texture on the inside while being crispy on the outside! The sauce on the side tasted like a pepper aioli which gave the oyster a nice tang *the fried dishes were great but after having a few, it definitely felt heavy, so this would be something I share with someone else vs eating it on my own Smoked salmon belly dip: I really enjoyed this! It was creamy and had chunks of salmon in it. It wasn't too dense or thick so it was perfect for scooping onto the kettle chips. The kettle chips were lightly salted so it was the perfect combo with the dip. Clam chowder: wow I absolutely loved this! This is different than any other chowder I've had. While I love a white creamy chowder from your typical seafood places, the base being a fish stock definitely brought out the seafood flavor vs a white chowder feeling like a cream base. This chowder still felt creamy and rich without the seafood flavor being overpowered. Rockfish bowl: the crab rolls were sold out by the time we made it to the register so we opted for this instead and I am so glad that we did. I didn't really expect this to blow me away but this was such a refreshing dish that balanced out the fried dishes we got. It used viet flavors that you may typically find in a banh mi which made it refreshing and had great texture from all the different fresh ingredients and fried garlic. I also loved how the fish came in patty form mixed with pork, it was flavorful and moist. I love any type of fish tofu/patty, I think it really makes fish flavorful when it sometimes can have a really mild flavor. I'll definitely be back to try the crab rolls!
