This is definitely NOT the spud we all remember! The prices!!! Oh my god! Almost $16 for an order of prawns, 6 I think. Pretty high price for mediocre prawns and fries. Oh wait, they forgot to tell me fries were extra until my order was ready. Then they tell me any cocktail sauce or any other sauce is extra too!!! Now we're over $20 for a lame meal for one. $2.50 for a fountain drink 12 ounce. I tried again, a 2 piece cod and chips. Absolutely horrible. The wait time is ridiculous. If you're waiting for the ferry, don't even try unless you're the only customer in the store. Even then you probably won't make the boat. And what's with the tip jar on the counter and on the screen when you use a card? There's no service provided to warrant a tip. When you seat a customer, take their order, and bring them their meal, that warrants a tip, not dropping mediocre food in drop fryer, with no timer mind you, and slapping it in a paper tray that's too small to contain it even with the small portions. Not timing the fryer is probably why there are so many reviews that say the food is under cooked, dry, etc..... You might want to pass on this experience. read more

Another fantastic experience, as always, at spud fish and chips! Ordered halibut and chips, shrimp lovers special, chowder, and calamari. Everything was delicious and the price seemed very reasonable. The employees working informed me that the fish is hand battered in house (you could tell by the quality)! I'm surprised that spud does not have a higher score on here! The food is great, restaurant clean, and employees are so friendly! I will for sure be coming back! read more

The halibut, chips and cole slaw are delicious. The vanilla shake thick and yummy. We have these about weekly and are always satisfied. The customer service is friendly, helpful and quick. Sadly, the chowder was grainy and inedible the day I tried it. They had packets of salt readily available during my visits. read more

I will give 0 if I can. Services are rude. They charged me $5 for curb pickup but when we arrived we called the number for 5 minutes nobody answer. We could see people inside there so I had to get into their door to check. I told them we were keep calling but nobody answered and they looked at me with no explanation and apology. I told them please pick up the phone call I will let my husband call again for pickup (I think for the safety concerns I better still stay outside and let them to bring the food out). When I was leaving, a man call me to stop said "Hey Hey this is your food!" And then he "dunk" the food bag to my arm. I got confused as he did Not even asked my name or phone. So I wanted to check the receipt to ensure I got the right thing. Now he impatiently said "take it. , it is your food". The whole conversation in the shop has no any polite words, the way he call me and hand food to me were RUDE. I told him I wanted to check if that is mine, there are nothing wrong for me to do it. He walked me out and said I yelled at him. My husband came to check what happened, and the man told us there are a lot of other restaurants around, we do not need to come back here again! We said fine we will never come back. He said some "F*ucking" words when we leave. And another their restaurant delivery guy just parked by us told us "you know there are a lot of problem in this world now, and you are definitely one of that". I highly doubt that they are racist, if I am not a Asian maybe they will treat me more respectfully. There's a Spud's in Edmonds, who knew. My husband and I were looking for a place for lunch yesterday so we stopped because we used to go to the Spud's in Juanita. We had two orders to fish and chips and order a fried pickles tartar sauce was extra and a chocolate shake and the bill came to $36 and some change. Very disappointing!!!!! We should have gone to Arnie's or Anthony's. We could have had a view of the water with food for about the same price. read more

Not very good. Expensive for what you get, and the fish quality is marginal. They charge for tarter sauce (wow! that's like charging for ketchup with your fries!) and the "milkshakes" come from one of those shake mix machines. 1 piece of somewhat dry, kinda chewy (probably Rock or Ling) cod without fries, 1 small chocolate "milk" shake, 9 bucks. I understand that this is a fish and chips place, but my kid siblings ordered chicken strips while we were there for dinner. The chicken was still frozen, so we asked if they could replace them. The girl behind the counter ended up just taking the chicken strips that weren't bitten out of and putting them back in the fryer where everyones food is made. They also took the fries that were uneaten and mixed them in with the rest of the fries on the heater to keep them warm. Im fairly certain that you cannot put food that has been served back in with everyone else's food like that--its a health code violation as far as I'm aware. How were they sure all that food was untouched? What if someone was sick and they just went ahead and mixed that in with the rest of everyone's food? It was gross, and the employees clearly need training on health and sanitation policies. $60 for the meal was incredibly not worth it, and I don't suggest eating here. I'm a long-time fan of Spuds at Greenlake (50 yrs or so). Have found Juanita Spuds to be adequate, but not nearly as good as Greenlake. Now living in Edmonds I really anticipated new shop here. On my first visit one week after it opened I was severely disappointed, but chalked it up to shaking down a new place and staff. Returned 6 times to find NO improvement. The fish is cut far too thin...the coating is bland and pale with no crispness, and the result is very tasteless. Fries are frozen and "wimpy". Same applied to the prawns and scallops. Now, if a friend wants to go there,I discourage them or I order the shrimp cocktail which is fine. Have discussed this with many long-time Spud fans and found they agree with me. Why owners would want to take a long-time successful concept and ignore the initial recipes and offer such an inferior product is beyond comprehension. I go to Greenlake despite the fuel expense because they still maintain a superior product. read more

I hate to give this place a 2, but it has changed, this is not the same spuds as it use to be at green lake, everything is pre made, fries are frozen, fish is nice and uniform, not like it use to be, breaded fresh, fresh fries, fresh tarter, etc...I was hoping this place had not changed. it is pricey, save your money, for the same price go to Arnies, it is much better. read more

Our first and last visit. Not worth the money!! We went on Friday night, it was busy as expected. Waited in line for 15 minutes to have our order taken by a young man who never looked up from his screen. No hello, no smile, but did ask us to enter a tip amount. What?? Now we are expected to tip for bad counter service? He never said thank you but gave us our order number. Our order was 2 halibut only, 2 coleslaw and 2 tarter sauce and 2 milkshake. The total was $29 and change. We turned to see there were no tables available, no problem, we waited for one to open up. We had to clear the dirty dishes and wipe it down ourselves. When they called out our number my husband went to pick up the food, there was one cardboard container with 2 pieces of fish in it. When he said we were missing one order of fish, the girl said no, that is 2 orders. He said well do you expect us to eat out of the same container? She reluctantly gave him another cardboard container. The piece of halibut was thinner than a pancake and about 4 " square. There was more breading than fish, It was chewy like leather. The coleslaw was okay, about 1/2 cup. The milkshake was also just okay and not worth the $3.25 price. We laughed as the tarter sauce was at least 1/2 cup each...what?? If you want good fish and chips go back to Channel Marker just across the street in the Harbor Square complex. You can get a full meal for this price and the halibut is awesome! Really disappointed! You would think being downtown Edmonds by the water the food would be decent. Chowder tasted like expired can chowder and was real salty; same with the fish--salty. Hope owners will take into account feedback from the reviews posted--looks like there's a few dissatisfied customers. We'd be willing to go back and give this place a second chance. I would give them 0 if I could. Spuds in Seattle used to be so good, this is just plain bad. First we went in on a Friday night and no customers. ( what does that tell you?) we ordered an order for 1: oysters, shrimp, fish and chips. around $30. the oysters and shrimp were terrible from the breading on the oysters, shrimp to just the taste. We only ate couple. the fish and chips were okay. in short Ivars are 3 times better. this is a high fish and chips place. read more

I love all the other spuds except the edmonds store. They need some management. Been there twice and would not go back. Last time the chowder was cold I asked the waitress to heat it up in the microwave after waiting 5 minutes at the counter she put it in the microwave and told me they had just put the chowder in the Crock-Pot to cook it so why did they serve it to us also the fry cook had no hair net on isn't that a little unusual I will I will not go back. great sunday afternoon at spud fish and chips!! got the halibut and chips with a small tartar to go with the blackberry and sage iced tea and it was all delicious. definitely recommend putting the lemon dill seasoning on the fries, the girls who were working suggested that and boy were they right!! speaking of, the two girls were very helpful and had bright, cheery smiles!! will be going back and trying the green beans with the aioli next time (my friend told me that's her favorite thing to get)! thanks spud for the awesome experience read more

I love spuds. I grew up with them at green lake. Soon hurried over to this Edmonds location and was disappointed as the place did not feel like spuds. The food was ok but overpriced and not as good as green lake or Kirkland after trying them a second time the oysters were hard the fish dry and very high priced even for Edmonds. I've been going to Spud's at Green Lake and Alki beach for 45 years and the food is never been less than spectacular. I've been to the one at Edmonds twice now first time was when they opened up and then today. I'm surprised they're even the same company. I paid $10 for a piece of dried up fish and some clam chowder that was nothing but potato soup. I was at Spud's on Alki last week where I had three pieces of fish fries and a drink and it was only $13 what's up with the big price difference oh and the food there was fantastic. If I wasn't getting on the ferry I would've taken my meal back and demanded my money back. People don't waste your money at Edmonds Spuds, you won't be happy. $$ is correct, too expensive for this kind of setting. The place was clean but over priced for this casual of a setting. The chowder tasted more like potato soup with a dominate taste of starch or flour. The fish and chips were good - not fabulous. What got me was after paying just under $18 for 2 pieces of fish and chips you had to pay for your tarter. I would expect to pay this kind of money at a nice sit down restaurant - bar and would never have to pay for the tarter and unfortunately the tarter was terrible as well. First off, the charge card machine wants to know if you want to tip. Tip at a fast food place, for what? Way too expensive, over $36 for two people cod-n-fries, one lg and one sm chowder and water. The fish and fries were ok, but you had to pay for the tarter. Never have had to pay for tarter before. The chowder, well it was just fine if you're looking for mashed potato soup. My daughter and I had lunch at the Spuds in Edmonds today. The reason I went there is because of the fond memories we had of eating at Spuds near Greenlake. To make a long story short: The fish fillets were paper thin and almost all batter crust, the chowder tasted funny almost like bleach, the fries were OK but kind of soggy. We're never going there again but will try the Greenlake Spuds one more time before we quit. read more
