Pick up window and outdoor seating.
Tanis L.

I have come to the Spud Fish & Chips by the Edmonds Ferry Terminal both with my parents and on my own, most recently this evening, Friday 21 July 2023. My first time with my parents was after the location opened up here, and my first time solo was tonight. I arrived around 6:45 p.m. and found one open parking spot by the windows marked pick up window. Out front of the entrance was a sample menu, which I looked over before making my way inside. Ordering was a breeze and there was seating available, a chair of which I used while waiting. The wait time for my order to be filled was approximately 12 minutes, I got a cod fish and chips with a side of tartar sauce. Cod was flaky and had a thin and crispy exterior without being too oily nor over-fried. For the tartar sauce, it was smooth and I used the whole container when eating my meal. The fries were light and fluffy. All three items were flavorful. I liked the paper wrapping for the fish and chips, it held the fish in place in my to-go bag and made easy the items less messy when eating.

Don't often write reviews but - this place was lovely. We popped in for a quick to-go lunch while waiting for the ferry. The staff was happy and kind, I really liked the art work on the walls. Everything was clean and efficient. The food was really good as well, very hot, maybe a touch too salty (but like not in a bad way?). I will admit the tartar sauce wasn't a huge hit with the whole family, but it's not bad, just not our favorite. All in all, we were happy with our experience.

Halibut & Chips w/ the special Tartar Sauce!

This place is incredible. How have I been missing out on it all these years (and by years I mean 89 because it has been in biz since 1935!). Super friendly staff and nice, airy space. We ate outside. Had the halibut & chips and it was to die for. So juicy and crispy. Cooked perfectly and piping hot. I am in love. My partner had the fish sandwich & chips and it was outstanding. Delicious cod, so tender inside and crispy outside. Perfect blend of flavors with the tartar sauce & cheese on a pretzel-lookin bun. So good! Nice ambiance as one waits for the Kingston Ferry or the Amtrak in Edmonds. Don't miss it! And there is a Top Pot Donuts across the parking lot if you want something sweet.

Cod & Chips - heavily breaded cod, limpy chips; disappointing, not like the fabulous now closed Greenlake's location! (06/25/22)

The food was good, but too expensive. Having to pay for the tartar sauce was the last straw. Service was adequate.

Fried mushrooms were delicious! More seating than other location. I would eat here again.

Way overpriced. Save yourself the money & go to Anthony's for delicious food, great customer service at the same price.

So overpriced! Not worth the $$$. Food was below average. Probably one of the biggest rip offs in Edmonds:(

We each had a bowl of chowder and split a fish & chips basket. The breaded fish was so good. The French fries were decent but not overly seasoned. My companion chose smoked salmon chowder, which is called a bowl of red and thought it was too salty. My chowder was classic white and seasoned just right, but had several chewy clam pieces that I had to discard. A very nice cashier threw in a 10% senior discount for the whole meal. Thank you kind sir. The restaurant seems exceptionately well-maintained and clean. Friendly ambiance. We enjoyed our food in a half-packed dining room where everyone seemed glad to be there. We'll be back to try other items on the menu.

I ordered a five piece fish n chip and a cup of clam chowder. The fish n chips came out looking like they were fried in old oil and they were too brown. Also they were half the size of the normal fish n chips. The fries were just warm. I'm not sure why they took so long to cook the food. The clam chowder was scary. It was just water and didn't have the thick chowder consistency. I don't know if they just gave me food that was below quality standards or if this was the normal service. Well this is my first and last time visiting this location. I never have this service or low quality food at my local Ivars.

In my previous review I admitted that it wasn't my favorite kind of fried fish. This time I ordered fried shrimp with the optional salad. Six large shrimp with a large salad. Wonderful. I'm originally from New Orleans so good fried shrimp makes me feel happy. The inside can be a bit loud. An Asian woman sitting near us gave my friend a dirty look because he was talking loudly so I could hear him! We moved outside for a beer and more conversation and this is where we will eat next time. I have to add how personable the staff and owners are. They stopped by our table several times and we enjoyed conversations. We definitely will include Salty Blue in our lunch rotation in the future. My friend enjoyed his fish and chips.

The fish burger was fantastic. Perfectly cooked, incredibly fresh tasting, and one of those sandwiches where after the first bite you immediately know someone in the kitchen actually cares. Easily one of the better fish sandwiches I've had around Seattle recently. The chowder was the only thing that held me back slightly. For my personal taste it was a bit more watery than I typically prefer, as I usually lean toward a thicker richer chowder. That said, the flavor itself was excellent and honestly overcame most of that initial thought after a few bites. What truly stood out though was the service. Absolutely fantastic people here. Genuine, attentive, welcoming, and the kind of staff that makes a place memorable beyond just the food. That level of attentiveness and care honestly feels rare nowadays and they deserve full marks for hospitality alone. Overall this place left a very strong impression on me. Great seafood, quality ingredients, and a spot I'm genuinely looking forward to revisiting soon. I can already tell this may end up becoming a regular stop for me after another visit or two.
