Absolute legends. Highlights: - Showed up exactly on time - Affordable - Superb craftsmanship... and it was a hard apartment to paint. Pre war building with solid concrete walls meant there were all kinds of weird things going on in the room (cable lines running along the edges, random protrusions, etc.), but they still crushed it. I can see places where they painted inside tiny cracks and corners just to make sure it was all consistent. I think this will be the 3rd good review I've ever given on here so this is big for me. read more

When our house didn't close escrow on time as expected, he was gracious about rescheduling, even if it meant we would have to be moved in during the painting (and during a pandemic, let's agree that's not ideal for anyone). I was genuinely pleased at the completion of my home paint job by Jon and his crew. From the start of my project, Jon was on point. From the initial contact through Yelp, Jon was responsive. After the initial consult, Jon provided a written fixed-price estimate that was fairly priced (based on estimates that I collected from 5 different contractors/painters in Brooklyn). Jon kept to the estimate with no surprises. Plus, Jon initially estimated 3 to 4 days to complete everything and his crew finished in only 2 FULL days. Jon has a crew of experienced painters (not day laborers). Job included: Spackling and sanding the walls as needed; 2 coats; repairing some rotted sheetrock; molding work; metal door frames; scraping and painting exterior juliet balcony; replacing all lighting fixtures; etc. I would definitely recommend Jon and his crew. My wife and I were preparing the loft we had lived in for thirty years to make it ready to rent. As is is quite large and in a desirable neighborhood, We wanted to make sure that the paint job was perfect. It was a very involved job. We had a ceiling that had large acoustic panels which had become discolored and had to have a special acoustic coating sprayed on. We had a very large quantity of oak trim that had to remain untouched. We had delicate custom wood kitchen cabinetry with glass panes that had to entirely repainted in high gloss. Two rooms had to have the wallpaper stripped before being painted. One of the bathrooms had to have sand mixed in with the paint to maintain the existing texture. The main room had four subtly different shades of gray that needed to be matched. There was a library room that had many built in shelves of different sizes that had to be entirely repainted in a semigloss. Suffice it to say that even to remember all the details would have been laudable in itself. Jon's work was flawless! The job was done as per schedule. The work space was left immaculate. The price was more than reasonable. I could not recommend anyone more highly. read more

We had a much bigger job this time: instead of doing just two rooms, we needed every room of a two bedroom apartment done, including ceilings, closets, and hallways and the removal of lead paint from old fixtures. I contacted him and other painters from word-of-mouth referrals from acquaintances and obtained about 3 estimates to paint multiple rooms in my home. Jon's rates were reasonable and competitive, and given the superb workmanship may be considered a bargain. The crew arrived on time, and completed the job much quicker than I expected. I was amazed, AMAZED! that the moderate-sized job was completed so quickly & EXPERTLY! Moreover, refuse was removed, and spaces left as tidy as they were found. Guests who have subsequently visited have remarked on how fresh my home looks with the impressive facelift! He called me back immediately and even was able to squeeze me in early due to a cancellation at another job site. His estimate for 2 accent walls, and entire bedroom, and an under-bar paint job was excellent. He and his helper showed up early, and he said that since the job was smaller than he initially thought, he gave me the paint he'd purchased for me that morning for free. They did amazing work and were done that same day. The apartment was sparkling clean, too, which is more than I can say for a lot of painters (including myself). Jon was absolutely excellent. I cannot recommend him enough. He was the most financially reasonable of all the ~20 painters to whom I reached out. He picked up the paint for me, came and in 3 hours did 2 beautiful coats on a bedroom and was done. The paint job was perfect, incredible attention to detail, and I also had asked that no paint get on the ceilings, floor or even the side panels bordering the whole room and windows and there wasn't a spot. I wasn't painting the interior of the closet and he still painted the wings that showed through the cracks on the side of the doors at no extra charge, which wasn't originally discussed. Buyer beware. Jonathan isn't reliable at all so be careful especially when it comes to him handling a project. Others may have had a positive experience with him, but I did not. I called him and set up an appointment for him to come in the morning. I stayed home from work for the morning so that I can get an estimate. He did not show up. When I tried to call him, the call went straight to voice mail. I texted him and explained that if he wasn't interested he should've let me know up front. So, be careful with this one.
