Let me start with telling you about myself. I have gut renovated 4 full apartments 2 condos and an out of state townhouse. I have had professionals and friends provide trade services. I have subcontracted painters both here in NY and out of state. After finding this painter on Yelp, he was one of three painters I received estimates from. Not the cheapest, but competitive. His estimate was by far the most professional and detailed. I liked him. One thing I have learned when hiring people to work in your home is that it must feel right. I was assured by the Yelp reviews that he would be great, but still hesitant I payed close attention. He wasn't great... he was AMAZINGLY BEYOND GREAT! I am extremely meticulous and detail oriented. So was he. He came with a well experienced crew. He enforced breaks, lunchtime and spoke to his workers with respect. Anyone who has had a crew work in their home knows inadvertently you will overhear things that may make you cringe..... not here. Peaceful work environment, super neat and respectful, As much as I hate spending money on home repairs ... he was worth every dollar spent (and I'm hoping to have him return to do the rooms we left out. There was no paint on my hardwood floors or cabinets... no spray anywhere, and no mistakes I had to correct. Too good to be true? Thankfully not, he operated the way I wish every independent business person would. Tell you what they will do, how much it will cost, then they do it the way they said, in the time they said and you are left as happy as I am. I am very satisfied with Larry's paint job of my baby nursery! My husband and I had painted it, but being that we are not professional painters, the walls came out dark and dreary with lots of uneven streaks and blotches. Larry repainted the whole room as well as painted over my laminate brown wood baseboard trims. I also asked him to do a striped wall. I am impressed with how the colors came out. I had asked him for some input on new colors to use - I wanted lighter and brighter colors after the dark colors my husband and I used. Larry steered me in the right direction of colors that would go well together. I am happy with how the room looks. It's modern, calming, and bright! I am also happy with how Larry smoothed out one of the walls in the room. One part of the walls was covered with duct tape to block off a door that leads into another room. It is a bedroom that was converted from a dining room. Larry took off the old tape and put on new tape which smoothed out the color of the wall. It also made the door less visible. I would definitely ask for Larry again in the future if I need any other rooms painted. He was friendly, on time, and had good work ethic. Fairly priced (and in line with other estimates we received), Larry and his team worked diligently on our home with a goal of doing the job right. Instead of cutting corners, they put in extra hours to ensure every inch of the place looked pristine and welcoming. Some parts of the job wound up being especially complex, and he also wanted to add a few other touches we hadn't discussed. He didn't charge any extra for such work and did it because that's how he felt the job should be done (I did at least attempt to cover the extra work done). Professional, really friendly, communicative, everything you'd expect. He was clear and helpful in going over what our options were and how much each aspect would cost, updating the estimate as we went along adding and removing various things, and then he stuck to the estimate. He went the extra mile for us, putting on an extra coat where needed, helping out with some random things, following all our requests to a T, and then finishing up under some rather grueling physical conditions that I won't go into! He responded quickly and was able to give a free estimate within a week of my call. Go ahead and get however many quotes you need to get, read however many other reviews to need to get... but let me save you time and tell you to go with Larry for 3 reasons: Great rates, great job, and great to work with. Larry's rates were very competitive, especially among other highly rated painters on Yelp. And literally everyone on here is saying the same thing: great rates, 5 stars. He also did an incredible job. I had used a different painter a few years ago, who clearly didn't put the same care into the work that Larry did. Larry doesn't cut corners, and does things the right way. And he even repainted the baseboards and a windowsill in one of the rooms because the previous painter had really butchered them. One of the rooms was full of furniture that I had pulled away from the wall--Larry worked around the furniture and protected it, with no damage to it. Another one of my rooms had the picture rail repainted, and I wasn't able to clear everything off the walls--Larry protected the artwork as he worked, with no damage to the art there either. And it's not "no damage", it's also "looks great". Not damaging furniture, etc. is important, and so is doing a thorough painting job. Larry does both. He's great to work with too. He did need a ton of pictures of my apartment to give me an accurate estimate (which included painting only the picture rail in a room that has a lot of art on the walls so I appreciated that). He gives thoughtful responses so you know he cares about the work and your home. And he and his assistant were here to paint during the pandemic, when I was also working from home, and we all wore our masks during that time. No questions asked, no issues. It was all respectful, all good. He's also a friendly, personable guy. It's weird to have a stranger in your house for a few days, but 30 seconds after meeting him, Larry doesn't feel like a stranger at all. Just be aware that a painter as good as Larry is going to be in demand. We had to schedule a few weeks out to get to a day that worked for us.
