A long story for an honest review: I got 2 quotes from other companies that were just outrageous and unaffordable. I did some more searching and found KD Cares and didn't believe all the good reviews and I wasn't sure the price was actually going to be any cheaper. But I called and Kris answered, on a Saturday, immediately. He asked me every question you can think of about my place like he was walking through the place in his mind. And then he gave me the price, so so much better than the competition and it was going to include everything. The ceilings, walls, closets, trims, floor mouldings, front door. He said no deposit, he pays for all the paint himself first and I just pay half the day of. Honestly it sounded too good to be true. He locked me into a date about 2 weeks out (which is fast for painters I have learned), and before the date came he confirmed with me over text about 3 times. He made sure to send me a COI with everything my building needed. He was so on top of things. The day of, he showed up 15 minutes earlier than I did, with 1 worker. They both really seemed like they actually wanted to be here and help me paint my place. It made me feel like they really were going do a great job. He brought all the paints and equipment and all the colors and finishes we're exactly what we'd specified. When he walked through the place he realized there were some areas that were darker than he expected and would require more coats to cover with the simply white I'd chosen. I told him to charge me extra if he needed and he refused. He was just letting me know. It took them 2.5 days. No delays. I even changed my mind on them for one bedroom and switched out a color after they had already started painting it a bit. In the end, Kris charged me exactly what he quoted me with the exception of $50 for the extra gallon of paint for changing the color which is perfectly reasonable. He left me all the paints and told me he'd come back if anything didn't look great. It's been a week and things are looking great. I highly highly recommend Kris and his team. It's a bit cheesy but they do really Care. read more

Can't recommend Kris and his team enough. We hired KD Cares Painting to take care of a condo we just bought in Brooklyn and in 3 days, Kris totally breathed new life into every room. Not only was the paint job immaculate, he also expertly patched a ton of old holes and nicks in the walls. You'd never know how damaged these walls used to be. He took care of our living/dining room, hallway, 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms in just under 3 days of work. We absolutely got our money's worth. He's responsive, organized, works extremely quickly and cleanly, and seems like the kind of guy who takes his business very seriously. Every time I spoke to him I could tell that this is a worker with immense integrity. If you're shopping around for a painter, you can stop now because you found your guy. read more

I'll never hire another painter - these guys are the absolute shit read more

KD Cares Paintings - Perfect trim detail and edges - Painters Near Me

RARE GEM of a painter! Your house, belongings, walls, ceilings, moldings, are all in very very deft hands with Kris. Kris and team (shoutout Teo!) were fantastically easy to work with - even through challenges with our coop board being slow to get us on the schedule, our own indecisiveness about paint colors, and damage from a leak upstairs that was revealed midway through the job. Kris still got the job done AHEAD of schedule and with tons of energy, expertise, and friendliness. Rarely will you find a professional painter whose skill matches his respect for your space, and also matches his speed and efficiency. True triple threat here! If you need a painting job done by someone who cares as much as (and maybe even more) than you about taking care of your home - call KD Cares!! read more

We were really happy with the results from Kris and his team on a fairly large job that included walls, trim, doors, lead encapsulation, and stair work. Kris was patient and flexible as I navigated multiple start date delays due to other work going on in my home, and his price was very reasonable. On top of this, the entire job was executed during a tight time frame while my family was out of town, which required weekend work that Kris did not charge extra for. They even put everything back in a very cluttered closet after the job was complete which was a pleasant surprise. I would (and plan to) work with him and his team again! They were professional and kind throughout the process. read more

First I must state that it is the rare occasion when I will take the time to write a review, and in every one of those rare occasions where I have written a review it was because the service was so exceptional that I felt it would be unjust not to. THIS occasion, however, where I've found myself compelled to write a review is DIFFERENT and I am writing this review because my experience was so OUTRAGEOUS that I feel strongly that to not write a review would serve as a public injustice. STAY AWAY from KD Cares Painting as the owner, who identified himself as "Kris" is EXTREMELY rude and argumentative, and for No Reason!! I called KD Cares Painting and spoke with the owner Kris. In explaining my painting needs and stating that the reason I'm seeking to get my house (at least the upstairs) painted was because I needed to replace the carpet going up the stairs and throughout the upstairs of my home. I further stated that "it was my understanding" from getting carpet quotes that I should get the paint job done first which made sense to me because I could see how paint could possible get on the new carpet especially around the trim areas on the bottom of the wall where the wall meets the carpet. Upon the hearing of what "my understanding was", that the painting should be done first, Kris, again, the OWNER of KD Cares, LITERALLY went OFF! He started asking me who were these people who told me that; asking were they doctors or lawyers (which was crazy), stating in a VERY aggressive tone that he and his company represented "pebbles" while every other contractor including anyone who told me that the painting should be done before the carpeting is "bam bam". He went on to VERY aggressively state that he is "pebbles"because he does work with care which is why his painting must be done first and that ALL companies who lay carpet are "bam bams" in that they would ALL come into my home "punching and kicking walls and would be knocking up against walls with their machines and his paint job would be ruined". Every time I tried to interrupt him given the crazy nature of what he was saying and the VERY aggressive tone with which he was speaking, he wouldn't allow it, continuing to aggressively speak and talk over me. And after this literal rant Kris, in a very rude and nasty tone thanked me for calling and was clearly on his way to hanging up the phone but I just held the phone because I was in shock! Upon his realizing that I was still on the line, he stated, again, in an extremely rude and nasty tone, "thank you" and hung up the phone. I am honestly still in shock while writing this. I can tell you with 100% certainty that given what I just experienced, it is my firm belief that the positive reviews about KD cares painting and its owner Kris HAVE to be FAKE because, given the completely unprovoked, outrageously rude experience I've just encountered with Kris, as I've stated above, there's just no way. Please be advised people. And if you choose to exercise your right to use KD Cares for you painting needs, just know that you've been forewarned. PS- As Yelp does not allow you to post a review without giving stars and as there is no option to give the ZERO stars that KD Cares Paints deserves I had to give the next closest thing which was 1 star. Please know, however, that the correct rating for this company is ZERO stars read more

3rd time in 5 years that Kris has painted my interior - super reliable, great value, and he's a good guy. Very efficient and responsive. Highly recommend. read more

We just got our condo apartment and are looking to paint over the walls, including covering up a basement that was full of textured spray paint. Kris was confident and professional over the phone quoting, and it showed in the team's work. He asked all the essential questions, and we were able to settle dates that worked best, especially near the holiday season. On the first day of work, Kris and Teo showed up early/on time on the first, and we did a general walkthrough. We kept in touch throughout the next few days and did a final walkthrough as they wrapped up on the last day. I was really pleased with how the team transformed our apartment; everything is as I visioned and overall nice work. There was a spot missing that I noticed, and Kris quickly fixed it before they had to go. We are satisfied with the service, quality, and value. Overall recommended :) read more

WOW!! Kris & Tayo were amazing. From the start, Kris was communicative, easy to work with (((and an obvious professional with decades of experience fixing other painters mistakes... something that unfortunately was necessary here))). It's nice to know the caliber of artistry you're getting when you have Kris handle the project (which should matter IMO when you're selecting someone to painting your home). Some top hits -- punctual, great pricing, easy to schedule -- and I cannot say enough amazing things about Kris & Tayo as people. They were fun to get to know and had awesome attitudes. I'm so happy I went with KD Cares and already have sent on his contact to everyone in my condo building. Looking forward to the next paint job together! read more

Kris funnels all his frenetic energy into delivering an incredible product. He and his partner Tayo completed an admittedly challenging job on a 1br pre-war apartment in record time. They are such hard working professionals and really respected and cared for the apartment I love. Not just painting, but the drywall work and patching was excellent. Kris is a busy guy, but he cares a lot and obviously takes pride in his work. I'm glad I went with him instead of a bigger, more corporate company. I can't recommend KD Cares more highly. read more

Kris was amazing! He literally saved us. My daughter was moving into an unpainted apartment and was on a very tight time schedule. I found Kris on yelp! He immediately responded and did a stellar job for a more than fair fee. I've never used yelp so I was a little unsure but Kris put us at ease. He is not only an amazing painter and hard worker he is a wonderful person. He did everything he said he would do and more. He showed up at 6am with his crew and finished the job in exactly the time schedule he promised. The apartment is now beautiful. Thank you Kris. I highly recommend KD Cares. He really does. From start to finish Kris was respectful, responsive and communicative. Had some water damage in my bathroom ceiling. Had him repair and paint it, as well as paint all the ceilings in my apartment. Was here a total of 8 hours over the course of two mornings. Amazingly fast! He also didn't leave me hanging and called ME to follow up and finish the job. How rare is that?! A solid guy who I learnt some things from and enjoyed chatting with about vintage watches. Would definitely recommend KD Cares for your painting needs! I already have recommended him to a friend. read more

I contacted Kris to get a quote for painting my one bedroom apartment. He was very quick to respond and gave me a quote right away after I sent him a few pictures. He was easy to work with and very professional. I am now sitting in my newly painted apartment, and it looks great! His quote was less than half of a quote I got from a different company. There was a lot of trim involved, and the other company said it would take them a week. Kris and his team got it done in less than 2 days. read more

Kris went above and beyond with everything. He purchased the paint, arrived early, and immediately started working. Admittedly, the day before, I had second thoughts about the color I chose. I immediately called Kris to discuss, and he reassured me and reminded me why I chose this paint in the first place. He's very professional and did an excellent job. Best paint job I've ever had. Best part? No mess. At all. Class act all around. A+ PS: the music he played while working was BOMB. read more

Kris is great! He's clearly passionate about his work. He called me back right after I reached out to him, and offered availability quickly. Kris and his team were a pleasure to work with. Right from the start Kris was responsive, professional and did exactly what we agreed upon. Kris's quote was fair and he did a great job. I'll be sure to contact Kris next time we need a painting job done. Thanks for a great painting job & experience! read more

Kris, Keith, and Dan did a fantastic job painting my condo! They have great attention to detail and were careful in the tricky areas like around the staircase. Kris also communicated clearly throughout the process, including having a detailed scoping call at the beginning to outline what work needed to be done and walking through the unit in person the day work started to explain what they would and would not be doing. I really appreciate that they were able to squeeze into my tight timeline, and highly recommend KD Cares! read more

Kris just finished painting my apartment and did a fantastic job. Great communication leading up to the project date. He showed up early and finished in record time. He made sure to sweep before he left. I would hire him again without any concerns. read more

Kris is unprofessional, sloppy and honestly crazy. I hired him and his company for a job...we agreed on a price for my apartment and hallway. I made him aware multiple times that the hallway was a significantly bigger job that he was anticipating and that a carpet was scheduled to be installed after he painted. Over the phone, he assured me that his verbal quotes are valid only and does need to see the job for a proper estimate, he also mentioned the the carpet needs to be installed before he started painting because in his personal opinion the company would damage the paint job because of how "Rough" they are when their work is performed. The day the work was scheduled to be performed, I sent my son to let Kris and his team in, and give him the deposit because it was scheduled as a 2 day job. He requested to be paid for the full apartment instead of the original 50%, which my son did...and he would take payment of the hallway when he came back. Now he is telling me that he doesnt not need to return because the contract was completed and was is fully paid. I now have to find another painter to do the hallway despite having an invoice from his company detailing the full scope of the original job. read more

Kris did an amazing job painting our house back in August. He's communicative, detail oriented, and has a great team. Our new house was in rough shape (lots of scary-looking cracks and holes all over the place), but it looks brand new now. Kris was also responsive to small little issues that came up after he was done and came back to fix them. I'm super happy with the work and would call him again for future projects. Highly recommend! read more

It takes a lot for me to take the time to write a review for any company but these guys are one of the rare exceptions. From the moment I spoke to Kris the owner on the phone I knew this was the company I was going to hire. My Mother in Laws house which is 98 years old was painted in a hideous bright yellow color in every room, the walls are constructed with wood lathe and plaster. After her passing, for us to change the walls to sheet rock would entail a full gut and was not an option, the cost would be tremendous. I researched painting companies and came across KDCARES and saw pretty much perfect reviews which makes me suspicious right off the bat. I then went to YOUTUBE and saw his painting videos, that sealed the deal for me. After two other estimates for painting the entire interior of the house (3 bedrooms, front room, living room, dining room, kitchen, basement (with old wooden 70's paneling we decided to paint over) Kris came in at a reasonable price for 2 coats of paint on every wall in the house including patching holes and priming all the paneling in the basement. THE JOB: Took 4 days, his crew was in front of my house sipping coffee 30-45 mins EARLY every day until I opened my front door at 7AM (NO JOKE). From the minute they walked in the work was literally like a choreographed concert, every man had their role, my BRAND-NEW RUGS were covered with tarps as well as my furniture. Not a single drop of paint Anywhere, no taping was done, all free hand to the edges of my walls and ceilings. Every day they cleaned up, put all their supplies and paints in a section of the house and ensured all the paint cans were covered. Kris was a maniac about being clean and neat. HIS STAFF: Kris, the owner is obviously a master at his craft but so was his staff... OLDER DAN, YOUNGER DAN and Keith have been painting for many years and are also obviously master painters. They respected my house; they asked every time they used the bathroom to let me know they were going to a room where I was not present. We all had pleasant conversations, but they never stopped working during our chats. Kris kept his eye on every aspect of the process. These guys are true gentleman, no cursing or arguing they helped each other and picked out a few areas during the process that needed extra work and they just fixed it. PAYMENTS: As the Job went on and I made payments, Kris had an APP that I "finger signed" for every payment and IMMEDIATELY sent receipts to my EMAIL. WHO THE HELL DOES THIS? He required half deposit of the total at the start of the job, then it was pay-as-you-go, he also picked up all the paint in the color my wife chose. THE RESULTS: From the beginning Kris explained due to the construction of the house (Lathe and Plaster) The job would not be flawless but would look much better, boy was he not kidding!! The project came out ABSALUTLY BEAUTIFUL. The walls in this house were a train wreck, my in-laws previously hired the worst people to paint the interior years ago and they used the wrong type of paint IE used water base paint over oil base or visa versa cant remember but Kris and his crew fixed it ALL. I could not thank them enough for their outstanding work. You guys changed our house quality for the better, so nice to sit in the rooms looking clean and brand new. CONCLUSION: Whether you take my review as genuine or not hire KDCARES......NEVER HIRE A GENERAL CONTRACTOR to paint. HIRE PRO PAINTERS ONLY! One of my estimates was 18k and nowhere near Kris's estimate. I wish Kris and his crew continues success and prosperity they deserve this detailed and long-winded review. I am a very private person, but I am including a few pictures of some of the completed work. read more

Awesome job! We have a home built in 1901 which has extensive original wood work and moldings. KD Cares Painting expertly painted our walls and did not leave a speck of paint on our woodwork or moldings. The paint job was perfect. We also have a busy household with 4 kids and they worked around us effortlessly in the mornings as we got everyone out the door. It's a breeze to work with the owner to get a quote, they arrived on time, finished on time and cleaned up when they were done. There were a few light switch covers they forgot to put on and they came back immediately to put them on, no issues at all!
