    Coffee Station, 05.15.2019.

A great concept for the surrounding businesses for a quick & convenient meal, yet not so great on the food & service. All types of Beverages, Sandwiches, Salad Bar, Hot Entrees, Chips, Cookies & Candy under one roof. The service is slow & pretty much terrible, as once you pay for your food, it's a wrap. Additiionally, while the hot food was cold & the Salad Bar items were just OK. The prices work, yet the maintainability of the food freshness missed the mark. Grab a sandwich, cup of coffee or tea & you shouldn't go wrong. 3rd star for the sprawling covered & comfortable patio.

After scraping together enough pale meat to make half a sub. The peppers had split the bun.

TL;DR: I won't be back for another year or two. The people who run and work at Sprout came to my building and peronally promoted their place by bowing prettily, handing me a menu and a map to their place, and a whole lot of smiling in full makeup and kimonos. I thought that was charming and took them up on their offer a few days later. I don't know if they're under new management, or something, but it's an amteurish operation. I asked for a cheesesteak with no cheese (I got issues, okay?), but also none of the hoagie stuff (lettuce, tomato, *mayonnaise* -- where are you people from?! Have you not been to South Street? Have you not lived in Philly for six years like a normal person? --but I digress). Later I saw the sandwich person making what looked like a good amount of well done steak, and then promptly slapped cheese on it and called it done. I said, Nuh, Bruh: no cheese (not in those words). After just repeating "Steak and cheese" a few times, she called to the woman at the counter, who ignored her because she was busy dealing with a line of seven people. I could see my part of the receipt clearly list what I wanted. So the woman began again. But they'd run out of the first ingredient listed for the sandwich, "white bread", during lunch time. I okayed the wheat, and proceeded to watch a spectacle that took exactly one minute: meat that had not been there a second ago, magically appeared (pale but cooked?), onto a wheat sub, which was then stuffed to the gills with green sweet peppers. I tried saying "Just a little," but she didn't hear me. Then she handed this thing to me. The overstuffing had split the sandwich. Paraphrasing Mitch Hedburg: a sub can never fall apart, it can only become a club sandwich. In the meantime the line at the counter had acquired 4 more impatient people. I shook my head at my own stupidity. I'm in Reston Town Center in VA. I can go to 20 different places in 10 minutes of walking. Why the hell did I come to Sprout? When I got back to the office to eat, I found out why the excessive sweet peppers. Both sides of the split sub had barely enough "steak" to cover the bread. So I scraped what there was, ditched 90% of the peppers and made myself half a sandwich. It's going to be a potato chip lunch. Not going back until thety've trimmed down the menu, hand you a bag so that you're not going out in the cold holding a sandwich and a potato chip bag in your hands, and can read their own instructions.

Chicken Ginger Sprouted Salad, fresh, and delicious!!

I am visiting for business in Bethesda, MD and came across Sprout Cafe. This is probably my new go to place for a healthy and tasty lunch. Located in Bethesda Towers it has a great atmosphere, friendly staff, and tasty food. This is my first time here and I really liked it. I got the Asian Ginger Sprout Salad with Chicken (the ginger dressing, wow!) Forgive me as I forgot the name of my meal, but I've been enjoying my meal and the outdoor seating the past hour with wonderful music they play. I want to come back to this location when I am in town again. Thanks for delicious food, friendly staff, and a heartwarming environment. Sincerely, A VA resident.

steak and cheese sub with a Midday Energizer smoothie. Delish!

oh my yum. I'm here for a job interview, and I popped into Sprout for a snack, thinking "juice bar and healthy salad/sandwich place." Uh, no... I was pleasantly surprised to find a well-oiled machine of sandwich counter with hot and cold sandwiches, paninis, subs, burgers.... And a salad counter featuring, possibly, tiny kitchen sinks amid the YUGE selection of salad-things.... And a hot buffet bar! I wish I'd seen this before I wandered over to the sandwich counter. But I'm very happy with this steak and cheese sub and smoothie--delicious, quick, and not terribly expensive ($12). Definitely recommend!

Super healthy offerings for a quick pick-me-up!

The lattes here are sweeter than savory but delicious, topped with thick whipped cream... I think it is homemade whipped cream, but whatever they do, they definitely aced it very well. - Habibi latte: very scrumptious! It is a must-get, although it's a seasonal drink, so it may not always be available...alas! Pretty sweet and almost like eating some Dubai chocolate as you drink it... worth the adventure! - The Bear Necessities: I was very impressed with this latte. I had low expectations, as most cafes can't perfect the dark art of latte for every latte drink on the menu, especially the seasonal drinks... But girl, I was proven wrong and I enjoyed this drink so much! It came with thick whipped cream topped with one graham cracker bear and crumbled graham crackers... The flavors were cinnamon and honey and reminded me of cinnamon crunch cereal in some ways, but of course, it wasn't too sweet though! I was tempted to order another one... The sandwiches (1 roast beef and 1 grilled turkey) were just average if you ask me to compare these with other sandwich specialty shops... next time, I'd try something else! Overall, no complaints as I'm impressed with the coffee options, especially the seasonal drinks! Service was good and quick. The employee behind the counter was super friendly and very accommodating to ensure she got our orders right. Plenty of seating on a Saturday late morning which was surprising. Lots of seating at the outdoor patio as well! Very spacious.

Great for a post-(long) run meal before I hop on the metro back to DC! The lattes are on the sweet side but delicious, thick, creamy, and very innovative--worth it. The food? Not so much, but still decent. I tried the following: - Habibi latte (hot with oat milk) - delicious!! Definitely a must-get. It was quite sweet but really reminded me of Dubai chocolate. Really amazing how they nailed down the flavors. Perfect for chocolate lovers and very unique and innovative. Presentation was also excellent, with a generous amount of whipped cream. - The bear necessities - equally delicious latte and really cute presentation too, with a graham bear cracker on top! I'm not a big fan of cinnamon-flavored drinks, but this one was more subtle. It was so thick and richly flavored that the cinnamon wasn't overpowering for me. I was very impressed. - Roast beef sandwich - meh okay. It was supposed to come with ciabatta bread (which I think would've tasted way better), but apparently, there was none that day, so I got it with sourdough bread. - Turkey sandwich - I got it served hot with sourdough bread, and my partner and I enjoyed this one more than the roast beef sandwich. The roasted red peppers were a nice addition to the sandwich. The accompanying salad with the sandwiches was fine, nothing special. Service was good and quick. Plenty of seating on a Saturday late morning, and the outdoor patio was cute and spacious.

In all honesty I was a little bit skeptical because my limited experiences with healthy food spots have usually been not so great because either the prices are too expensive or the food ends up tasting like cardboard. I'm very happy to say this wasn't the case here. This is more of a grab and go type of place but they have one or two spots to sit at if you need a minute to chill and the decor is very clean and bright. Everyone was super nice and answered any questions I had so you can tell they are very knowledgeable about the menu. I also liked that there were quite a few different gluten free, dairy free, and vegan options to choose from. I originally wanted to try a bunch of different things but I didn't have that kind of time so I ordered an iced decaf s'mores latte as my drink and chose the Dilly Dilly chicken salad for my food item. I absolutely loved my latte! It wasn't overly sweet and you can actually taste the coffee which you don't really find at a lot of coffee places anymore. It was topped with whipped cream and had a graham cracker and chocolate crumble sprinkled on top which really complimented the flavor of the coffee perfectly. Apart from one latte that I had on a trip to Philadelphia I would say that it's the best iced latte I have ever had. I will have to try it hot next time. The chicken salad surprised me in a good way. Normally when you order chicken salad it's practically drowning in mayo and dressing but thankfully that wasn't the case here. While it was well dressed and you can taste it in every bite it wasn't drowning and it didn't overwhelm the natural taste of the chicken which was a refreshing change. The dill flavor was definitely present but it wasn't overwhelming and it was very fresh. My whole order came out to under $20.00 which is affordable compared to other similar places in the area. It's located in the downtown Bethesda area around the corner from Bethesda Row which is within walking distance from the Bethesda Metro Station so it's very easy to get to with public transportation. There are also a couple of parking garages close by although I personally don't drive so I'm not exactly sure about the rates that the garages charge. This is definitely going to be my new normal lunch spot and I can't wait to try the other things on the menu!

I got a flat white which came out piping out. I had a stegadoodle protein cookie which was soft and the perfect balance of not being overly sweet. When I first walked in, the aesthetic of the place was great. It was quite big with a nice corner to relax in and a display of snacks. The staff was also very friendly and respectful while I was looking at the menu. However, the food and drinks are where this becomes a 2 or 3-star experience. The Items I Ordered: * Brown Sugar Cookie Boba Tea: This was bland and had little to no flavor. The milk was overpowering, and it had almost no brown sugar or cookie taste. * Soufflé Pancakes: I was told these were "authentic Japanese Pancakes," but I am heavily disappointed. The presentation was poor: a paper plate with pancakes surrounded by fruits, a dab of ice cream, and a small plastic bowl of cream. The pancakes themselves were bland and very eggy. Unfortunately, they tasted more like an egg pancake than the traditional Japanese style. They were also very dry. If the cream wasn't included, I wouldn't have even eaten them. Having to rely on the cream just for the pancakes to have flavor or moisture is very disappointing. * Chocolate Lava Buns: I bought one of these, and it was just okay. They were fluffy, but the chocolate inside wasn't melted. It was also very bitter and very heavy on the dark chocolate side so it was not a "savory taste" for what I had thought originally. * Cherry Tart: This was the final item I bought, and again, it was only okay. The bun was a bit hard. While the flavor was better than I expected at first, it fell off quite quickly and became unappetizing. Final Verdict: Would I recommend this place? Not necessarily. Unless you are just looking for a corner to study in and bring your own food, I wouldn't suggest it.
