    Pulled Pork Sandwich

This place is disgusting. Go anywhere else in Sanford and have a better time. Food made me, my wife and my two kids deathly ill. Cold disgusting burger, somehow they messed up a french onion soup and a pulled pork "sandwich" that was mostly morphed with the container it was given to us in. The inside wreaks of cigarettes, the beer ordered was flat and the waitress/ hostess is extremely rude. Normally not one to leave a review but good people of Sanford go eat somewhere else! Gross. 0/10 will never go back here again.

There was a fresh scent and it seemed well kept. Our waitress let us know the specials. Both were mushroom appetizers, which I thought was a little strange. She also said they were out of mashed potato, which bummed me out a little cause I was going to get the baked haddock with mash. We decided to order a kids butter pasta, chicken finger dinner and chicken Alfredo pizza. Once everything came out, my son was putting Parmesan on his noodles when I noticed mold in the jar. The waitress was apologetic and took the cheese and dish away. I asked if we could order a cheese pizza in its place. I strayed in on my Alfredo chicken pizza. I wasn't crazy about the crust and the few couple slices each had some chewy bites of chicken that I had to take out of my mouth. My daughter seemed happy with her tenders but the fries were so thick, they didn't have any crisp to them- just large slices of potato. We got boxes and asked for the cheese pizza "to go", as well as our check. To my surprise, the pasta was still on the bill. When I pointed that out to the waitress and suggested they be taken off (due to the moldy cheese), she said she'd need to ask the manager. After a bit of a discussion between the two of them, the noodles were removed, but I thought that should have been a no brainer. The waitress was very sweet, neither the cheese or the bill was any fault of hers, but we didn't have a great first impression.

The service and food were fantastic. I had an Irish coffee with Bailey's and it was so good I had to have another. We booked the "red room" for a party of 10 patrons which we scheduled far in advance. The people that were in the room before us ran over on their time, so we had to wait about 18 minutes after our reservation. The room is pretty cramped due to the length of the table, but it was cute and cozy. The max amount of people is 12 in this room. I had the taste of Ireland, which gives you three dishes in sample size: shepherds pie, beef stew & chicken pot pie. For $19.00 (kind of steep) it was okay. You can tell that there's a lot of pride, and it has a "just like mama used to make" method of cooking. Seems like they take a lot of pride in all of their dishes. It seems that everybody truly enjoyed their dishes, even the ones that had salad. Again, it was really nice that we were able to have our very own room. I would certainly come back and have the corned beef and cabbage meal; that's what my mother had and she said it was great. The only negative thing I would say is that our waitress seemed like she was a bit annoyed, having to wait on a large group and we needed to split our checks. Other than that I felt that our service was sufficient.

On a President's Day Monday at 1pm, the establishment seemed at just under half occupancy. I thought I needed to wait for seating, but staff said I could pick any table and they'd head over shortly. My friend and I ordered the sausage roll ($12) and scotch egg ($13) appetizers to share, and I ordered the bangers and mash ($19) entree for myself. The sausage roll, cut up into 6 slightly larger than bite-sized pieces, consisted of flaky and buttery pastry with herbal, earthy, and slightly crumbly sausage out of its casing. Imaging homemade breakfast sausage, but less sweet and more sharp. The accompanying brown mustard provided a nice contrast, yet remained relatively mellow. It also came with a bit of field greens so I could pretend to be healthy. The scotch egg arrived as a textbook example of a softboiled egg with a yammy yolk. The outer sausage shell tasted similar to that of the sausage roll. The accompanying chili jam cut down on the savoriness just a touch; it melded tart, spiciness, and sweetness yet also remained mellow, not overpowering the egg. My entree, the bangers and mash, proved exceptional. The peas were some of the brightest, most vibrant, juicy and crisp peas I'd ever had. Each one had just a slight burst at the bite. The caramelized onions adorning the mash had been browned down a long time, like what you'd expect in French onion soup. The mash itself, made from red potatoes, tasted robust and rich without being overly dense or overly reliant on butter (not shaming butter, but these potatoes deserve to shine, not drowned out). The bangers themselves possessed crisp, taunt casings with juicy interiors. I would almost describe it as "fresh" in the same way I would describe high-quality vegetables. Weird, but I don't know how else to express this sentiment. Service was a bit slow, probably from the Monday holiday. Since it was technically a weekday, I was able to order $4.5 bud lite drafts from the happy hour menu (Mon-Fri 1-230pm). Overall, I walked away quite impressed from what was me randomly picking a place to get lunch after being at White Birch Armories at opening to beat the range wait.

Finally, now that the 'newness' wore off, 4 of us were able to grab a table with ease. There was live music & they post on their Facebook page regularly with updates on food & cocktail specials. We decided on appetizers: nachos w/ chicken, mozzarella sticks & potato skins. The nachos were really good - I liked the chips they used. The mozzarella sticks were a bit underwhelming, similar to frozen ones I've purchased at BJs. The potato skins tasted like they were made in-house. ABOVE & BEYOND MOMENT: Our server, Jackie, was friendly & patient with our requests. I had asked if they could make a spicy margarita. She asked the bartender & they were out of their jalapeno tequila so they asked if it was okay to muddle fresh jalapenos instead. I said I trusted the bartender to do what they thought best. When my margarita was delivered, the Jackie asked if I wouldn't mind tasting it to make sure it wasn't too spicy. I think the fact they custom made the drink & ensured it was to my liking was great. I see mixed reviews about the prices. I honestly found that appetizers averaging about $15 was on the high side. We'd like to go back for dinner, maybe when there isn't live music. Very loud due to the small space. The ambience is a cleaned up version of J.J. Goodwins & there are (2) pool tables.
