I've been doing business with this place since the year they opened and I can't possibly speak higher for everyone involved. It's a very pleasant place where the service goes above and beyond. The food was good but there were several issues that lowered my rating. The waitstaff initially were fine but then I noticed I was up charged for items that were odd. Mayonnaise on the burger: Extra $$ on an already expensive burger. Charged extra for chipotle sauce for the onion rings, which I can understand but when ordering it the waiter asked if I would like dipping sauce for them. I said sure, completely unaware that it's going to cost me. When I asked about these extra charges on my bill the waitstaff became rude, as if my just asking was unheard of. I don't mind paying but if they are items typically included by other restaurants let the customer be aware you're going to nickel and dime them to death while ordering. Condiments are typically free in restaurants that are not petty... and if you are going to charge 1. make the costs upfront, 2. Don't become rude when asked. Also the location/opening of the bathroom were in a not so optimal position, the sight and smell taking away from any atmosphere the restaurant could have. read more

The food does not cease to amaze, the beer ice always ice cold and the staff is the most attentive and friendly staff out of anywhere I've ever been. We would like to have been able to review the food. However- we were told that "they do not put tables together" and our party of five could "squash" around a four top. But - if we could wait twenty minutes (the place was almost empty) then we could sit at a table that would accommodate five. The party of ten must have been seated by magical unicorns. This is the only way the tables could have gotten together. The other numerous empty four tops were clearly inhabited by ghosts visible only to the wait staff. Our party had to leave narnia in search of a magical establishment that could seat odd numbered parties and has the supernatural ability to push wooden tables together. We went to Backstreet and had a nice odd numbered person lunch. We wish future travelers better luck- or the courage to leave the weak behind so that they may dine in even numbers only. read more

I have been here several times and always have had a great experience. The fried pickles are my favorite! I have tried the pulled pork sandwich, chicken pesto sandwich, and the French dip-they where all very good. Their beer list is great and the cocktails are made from scratch- lemon drop being my favorite. Cajun haddock is very tasty, the fries are always great, and the local draft beer selections change frequently. What more could you want? My wife and I also ate here Tuesday - we split the salmon BLT and the autumn salad. The BLT was definitely enough for two. The salad had a great Maine combination of roast squash cubes, squash seeds, and cranberry. This is definitely my favorite lunch place. I'm in Maine 3-4 weeks every year, and usually eat here twice every week. read more

This review is based solely on their bar. We sat there for an hour or so on a Saturday night. The bartender did not do a good job. Very inattentive and no customer service. It was not crowded at all. I ordered a coffee with baileys and you could see through it, when I said this is not right she said yes it is and walked away. I didn't drink it (it tasted like hot water with baileys in it) and she never said I'll make you another one. It sat there til we left. Based on that I probably won't return. read more

This place advertises itself as a pub. No. This is no pub. The sweet potato chips we got, to start with, were akin to tree bark. The steak and the fish of the fish and chips were woefully bland. The sauce for the onion petals, while decent, could easily be replaced by a better selection from Burger King and their coleslaw could be outdone by KFC. This said, the star of both dishes was the sauces. No, about the idea that this is a pub. It really is not. At best, this is a restaurant, and I think Gordon Ramsey would have a field day with it. A bar and grill would be a more apt description. There is so much wasted space that it's laughable. For anyone coming to the Publick House in hopes of visiting the homey and comfortable atmosphere of a pub will be more than sorely disappointed. The prices are decent, and the wait staff is polite and quick on their feet. I am happy to see that I wasn't the only one that received rude service. We were seated in the back room all by ourselves. There was a table open in the larger part but it was set for more than just the two of us. After waiting 45 minutes we started to get up and just ask for our tab when out of the blue, our meal arrived. Overcooked chicken tenders, cold French Fries and a Panini. We commented to the waitress who was very apologetic but she must have gone to a supervisor and told her were we upset. She came to our table and asked if everything was ok, we told her no and that we had been waiting in a segregated room for quite some time. She started giving us excuses and we asked her to stop and just let us eat. She started to take our plates away and my husband commented that we were not going to leave without eating since we had been waiting for so long. She again started with the excuses and we asked to please leave and let us eat. She then took our plates and asked us to leave......... there was an exit door in this segregated room and we I asked if it was ok to use this door, here comment was yes please.................. read more

Probably the last time I'll visit Public House in Springvale. Having been in business myself since 1980, I have never been treated so poorly by any restranteur in my 65 years on God's green earth. I hope to convince the rest of my family to not return there after bowling on Thursday nights. That's 12 to 14 diners not in your restaurant for 30 weeks per year. I refuse to have anyone talk to me in the manner that your hostess or pub owner treated us this evening. You should reconsider closing half of your dining area on a busy night two hours before your venue actually closed.
