Came for dinner. There was a wait. We sat at the bar instead. Good crowd, We made friends with the people next to us! Great conversation ! Great atmosphere. Meatloaf dinner with mashed potatoes. Asparagus Drink. Shrimp.Scampi in a Garlic Butter Sauce. Prosecco to drink. The meatloaf was very good and so was the Asparagus! The mashed potatoes tasted very heavy, not light and fluffy. The shrimp scampi was dissapointing. First off, it wasn't seasoned at all. I had to put a lot of salt and parmesan cheese to get some taste but it was hard to do that because the pasta was drenched in broth as if it was soup! It was soo watery and unflavored but I was so hungry, I ate it. But it was very dissapointing. We want to come back and try the beef tips and the Orange chicken. Next time we're in town, maybe we give them another chance.

What an amazing place! Service is one of the best! Food is delicious! Huge portions! The atmosphere is one of the best! I totally recommend this place. Should be rated 5. Thank you for making our day special!

Fish tacos and a pepperoni personal pizza - love them!!

Duffys is a classic neighborhood bar / tavern, with friendly service and something on the menu for everyone! We live in town and Duffys is one of our go-to spots for a tasty bite and some beers. If you visit during happy hour, drafts are $1 off :) We love love their soft pretzels, fried pickles and chicken tenders - we always have to start our meal with one of those! For entrees you really can't go wrong! I love their fried seafood (scallops are my go-to), their sandwiches (the French dip is my fave) and their personal pizza (classic pepperoni for me!). If you save room they have a ridiculous (in a good way) ice cream sundae served in one of those nostalgic glass goblets. If you're in visiting from out of town, Duffys is a super option for a group because the menu offers a variety to choose from. Also - though it can get quite busy it's not as insane as some of the options down in dock square. I recommend visiting Duffys, enjoying a cold beer, and eating a good hearty meal.

A chance stop on our way south landed us at Duffy's for a midweek lunch. A cool restored building by a waterfall lured us in. We told the hostess we had been on the road a bit and she led us right to a booth. Our waitress brought cold drinks quickly and our food was also prompt. The burger was done with just the right amount of pink and plenty of fries. The chicken wrap has several choices for seasoning and the Thai chili was a nice balance of sweet and spicy. The house chips were crisp and a good thickness for maximum flavor without too much salt. Both portions were large and we each took half home... Dinner after a long time on the highway meant we appreciated Duffy's even more! We will be back just to explore the area and enjoy more food!

We started the evening with cocktails which were very much to our liking, followed by a delicious appetizer of lobster risotto that we shared. We both ordered the short ribs which were mouthwatering and cooked to perfection that the meat fell off the bone. The servings were enough where we took the bones and whatever meat was left to make a delicious beef soup. Neither one of us were up for dessert but decided to get two to go, which we downed once we got home. And they were both delicious. In closing, I'd be remiss without saying a good word about our server Keila. She was warm, friendly, funny, and very attentive to our table. She made our night to enjoyable! Thanks you Keila ! We look forward to our next visit to The Village Inn soon.

Here's what doesn't seem to have changed: it's an attractive, slightly out-of-the-way dining spot that has a very nice bar, comfy seating on a patio and inside, good servers (thank you Heather!), and a menu with a lot of tasty choices. We continue to recommend it, although hesitantly. There have been some changes, in our opinion, that left us just a little disappointed, hence four stars not five. Blackened salmon: pretty good but not much blackened and just a little bit dry. Seafood poblano with clams and scallops: excellent, well seasoned. Calamari: Crunchy but much too chewy. Yummy spinach, a crab cake that tasted bland. Sourdough bread wasn't warm and left us wanting. Fine bar choices with local beers. The romaine salad was, well, unusual, with a blueberry vinaigrette that was awfully sweet for our taste and, frankly, kind of hard to cut. Final verdict? Not quite up to what we hoped for after our experience a dozen years ago. Maybe that's us; memory can be tricky. But we came away not quite as happy as the last time for sure and a little more cautious in recommending the restaurant. If you're curious, entree prices generally in the $30s, appetizers $12-20, cocktails around 12-15. We're giving the Tavern four stars, but 3.5 would be closer to our preference.

I am happy to say for our family it is back. We went tonight and the food was really good and really well priced. We had the chicken wings, haddock chowder and fish and chips all were really tasty. But this is going to to sound weird. The cole slaw was the best I think I have ever had. I love mayo but this was not the mayo heavy type. The floors were refinished, so now the pub and restaurant are all in the same big room. Some of the same staff is still there, though some key people were missing: the Irish bartender and the marvelous hostess who always greeted us with a warm smile. The menu was similar, with a few new items. I ordered the sweet potato soup (needed salt, not on table)and the salmon pinwheel, amazing flavor and cooked to perfection. My husband had the baked haddock, too lemony and salty. The potatoes were bland. There was an obnoxious man at an adjacent table, who was a tad inebriated and spoke too loudly. The staff seemed to know him and didn't seem to mind his awful behavior. He ruined my meal with my husband. So.....the food is good, but depends on what you order. Be careful where you sit. I ordered pan-blackened haddock tacos - but asked that instead of them being in tortillas, could the ingredients just be "thrown into a bowl?" I was being high-maintenance right out of the gate. I realized that this was a weird request. I'm not sure what my deal was, I just felt like having things in a bowl that day (insert shrug here). Our server's name was Shane and she was so pleasant and more than happy to put my odd request in (side note, she was phenomenal for our entire visit! Thank you Shane!) The end-result of my bizarre request was the most delicious bowl of yum ever! Truly, if haddock is your thing, give it a try. It looked delicious, it tasted even better; holy moly, the people in the kitchen totally understood the assignment. Shane even said she showed it off to the other people working before bringing it to our table. It really, truly was that good. I'm still dreaming about it. Basically, Federal Jack's has it all: a phenomenal menu, awesome food, wonderful staff, great vibes. It's the kind of place you want to revisit, and wish you lived closer to.

At one point, she put the phone on hold, and walked back to the kitchen. Rule #1 of hospitality: Always service the people who are literally in front of you, and took the time on a cold night to drive and to patronize you and your establishment. Put phone callers on hold. We were then seated in a back corner booth with no view of the restaurant. When a waitress appeared, I asked the price of the Lobster BLT listed in the menu section of their website. "Oh, we don't have that anymore." I asked why it remained on their website. I got a dirty look. She went on to tell my party that they actually had NO lobster in house. In Maine. My partner ordered a Reuben sandwich. He opened it up and we found about 1 tsp of sauerkraut inside. The breading on my fish sandwich was overdone and beyond crispy. But the most infuriating moment was ordering a cup of hot tea. Hot water and a tea bag, nothing more. Since the waitress had disappeared, I had to physically get up and ask for a hot water refill. The waitress I did find didn't want to help, instead pointing in another direction, saying "She's over there." I tracked her down; our waitress was talking with another employee. I asked for some more hot water to refill the cup with the same teabag. She brought it. When paying the bill, I found l'd been charged $6.50 for 2 cups of tea. Wow. One teabag and one refill of hot water. $6.50! The food was not great, the service horrendous, and the charges ridiculous. We'll be heading back to Federal Jacks soon.
