Well let me start...somthing happened since we were there last year. Last year it was fantastic...The omelets were were made with eggs and not with the egg Slurry out of a carton...This year I ordered a meat lovers omelette and got a slurry omelette with 2 little cubes of ham...3 little pieces of sausage cheese and cheese. Remember the commercial for Wendie's...."Where's the beef?" That's what I said when my omelette was delivered. It was not worth the 15 plus dollars there was no fluffy eggs no meat showing through bo cheese coming out the ends...I was truly disappointed. My wheat toast was burnt (as well as my wifes) The home fries consisted of 3/4 chunks as well as my wifes. We were both wondering what happed to a great restaurant from the year year before.There was a line last year waiting to get in this year no line....That should have told us something. So if you want to overpay, not get a fluffy omelette made with eggs (but with slurry) and get a meatless, Meatlovers Omelette go to Mikes All Day Diner...Please do not confuse this diner with Mikes Clam Shack....They have the great food... read more

The food is always amazing here. Came for breakfast (glad that they reopened a couple of weeks ago from winter break). We both had the # 2 one with well done egg whites and the other with regular eggs. Wheat toast and marble rye along with crispy bacon and home fries. The meal was hot and tasty, though I did need to add more pepper for the bland home fries (simple fix). I also NEEDED to have one of their amazing lemon ricotta pancakes. It was topped with ricotta and the pancakes were very lemony but I don't think there was ricotta in them. I did not taste it. It came with a side of lemon glaze too. read more

We've driven by Mike's American Diner a few times, and finally gave it a go. My only regret? Not stopping by sooner. The portions here are massive, and the prices are super fair. It's rare to find breakfast spots these days that don't skimp on food, and we left brunch full and happy. We both went for the chicken and biscuits, added a side of eggs ($2.75 extra; not pictured), and it was even better than expected. Two big, juicy chicken breasts, one deliciously flaky biscuit (sliced in half), all blanketed in this unreal gravy -- easily a 10/10. I have no idea how I'm going to order anything else next time. We also shared their French toast muffin, which came grilled with a side of butter. It was just divine. Parking's easy too, with lots of spots out front and in the back. Service was friendly, and they kept our coffee and water topped up. If you're looking for a hearty breakfast under 30 minutes from Portland, this spot is a win. read more

Ordered takeout from Mike's and was very pleased with the food. I ordered a fried chicken sandwich which was enormous and delicious, putting Chick-fil-A to shame. I had eaten there previously for breakfast and from the size of the crowds could tell this is a very popular venue especially on the weekends. The waiter that brought out my food was extremely courteous and from my viewpoint was very attentive to the dining in patrons along with myself. read more

Mike's American Diner is a hidden gem! I ordered the Reuben, but they swapped in fresh roasted turkey breast for the pastrami--and wow. The portion was huge and honestly the best Reuben I've ever had. I couldn't even finish it at the table and ended up bringing home a sandwich and a half. My husband went with the baked haddock dinner, which came with a light homemade lemon breadcrumb coating, mashed potatoes, zucchini, and a crisp side salad to start. He loved every bite. Our server, Deb, was excellent--friendly, attentive, and really made the whole meal even better. A couple things to note: they're only open for dinner on Friday and Saturday nights, and it's BYOB (bring your own beer or wine). We'll definitely be back. A++ meal and experience! read more

Clean and organized, this diner is a great place to stop if you're in the area. It was 10:30 in the morning, but we were absolutely dying for a Thanksgiving dinner plate, with turkey, stuffing, carrots, mashed potatoes and cranberry sauce. Although I don't think they start serving that until after 11 AM, the kitchen did it anyway, a huge bravo and thank you to the guys and gals in the kitchen! It was one of the best Thanksgiving/turkey dinner hot plates I've had in a long time, and I will definitely return for this one dish! Great coffee, and very friendly service. Ordered: chicken and waffles: white meat chicken tenders were crispy and crunchy which paired well with the slightly crispy yet chewy and airy waffle, served with whipped butter and Maine maple syrup (without being charged an additional $2.50 fee I've been seeing around Maine) was well executed garden sandwich: had beautiful layers of egg, spinach, cheese, pesto, and onion, so flavorful on rosemary focaccia bread, everything hearty without that heavy feeling If you are better at portion control than we are try their $5 milkshakes for dessert! There are many gems on the Mike's American Diner menu. I'd like to point out the haddock chowder. If you like chowder and haddock, it's spectacular and mostly haddock. The cup is enough for one and the bowl (quart) can be split and comes with a New England biscuit, There are also other haddock dishes, which are a MAD speciality. So I went to eat at Mike's amerericana diner. My server was delanie I believe. I got my order and there was hair in it. I have a shaved head so definitely not mine. So I ask the server to fix it and she gives me a hard time saying thats my hair and said I'm just trying to get a free meal because I'm a poor degenerate p.o.s., her words. I asked for a manager and after alot of being spoken down to she finally does her job and gets the manager, Mike, who walks out like a complete narcissist who's crap doesn't stink. After making some hurtful comments about me he finally gets me a new meal. It wasn't bad yet not great. So when I got the bill they left the order with hair still on it. So I complained again and they told me I have to pay for it or they're going to call the police. I ended up paying it just to get out of that horrible place. Do not go here!!!!!!!. Come here often after antique shopping at nearby shops. Mike was our server, who claimed not to be the owner, but he seemed like it with his excellent service and pleasant conversation. The food turned out to be pretty good. Average diner food. However the service was a mess. I understand trying to catch up today is the biggest challenge. I hope they have fought through this challenge. Our order was forgotten. When asked about it it was as if I was putting them out after 45 mins!!! Note: this is dinner food not Château Briand Or Peking duck! The worst thing is when I got up to ask for another cup of coffee while I was waiting for 45 minutes gentlemen later about had a meltdown. Everything a diner should be and more!!! We know they are short staffed - so the wait time won't come into play for my review. I LOVE diner coffee - the mugs, the refills, everything about it is just so cozy and heartwarming for me. The coffee here is delicious and piping hot. My breakfast of lemon ricotta pancakes (with a side of bacon of course) was superb! I was expecting the ricotta to have been mixed into the batter, but there were huggeee dollops of ricotta between the pancakes!! It was actually a little too much for me, but just so tasty and decadent. He got the corned beef hash which was salty and satisfying. Prices are reasonable if not a bit high- but in this post-covid world I'm happy to give my money to a local business like this. Will definitely return - and soon!! read more

Less than truck stop level breakfast for 2x truck stop prices. Pancakes came with individually packaged syrup containers the size of a shot glass, similar to what you would get at McDonalds. Service is hit and miss. Nothing unique on the menu. Just the basics for breakfast. Not going back. read more

I got the strawberry pancakes, I enjoyed it but didn't get the required amount of maple syrup. It took a little while to get a cappuccino. But the service was mediocre. If you're over 50 I'd recommend this place. One more thing the scrambled eggs taste like plastic. read more
