After having a very difficult respite experience at another facility last year, I was extremely nervous about trying again. As a caregiver, leaving someone you love in the care of others is not easy. From the moment we walked into Putnam Ridge, I felt a difference. We were warmly welcomed, the facility was clean and smelled clean, the residents were well cared for, and everyone we encountered was friendly and spoke to us. I talked to my mom almost every day while I was away, and hearing how strong and comfortable she sounded gave me a sense of peace I did not have last year. For the first time, I was actually able to relax on vacation knowing my mom was safe and being cared for. To the staff of the Apple Memory Care Unit, thank you for caring for my mom and for giving this caregiver something just as valuable: PEACE OF MIND. Respite care is not only about caring for our loved ones. It allows caregivers to rest, recharge, and breathe, knowing the person they love is in good hands. Thank you, Putnam Ridge. This experience meant more to me than you know.

During my time as an employee, I observed one colleague who frequently gossiped about coworkers, while the management team appeared severely underqualified and disorganized. A major overhaul of the leadership and operations is desperately needed. For those considering placing loved ones here, I strongly encourage thorough research and exploring other options. Based on my experience, I would never entrust the care of a family member to this facility. For potential employees, I recommend carefully vetting the environment before accepting a position. While there are some positives, this workplace is not suited for everyone. Training lacks consistency due to conflicting methods from different trainers. Additionally, Ashley, a manager, often displayed passive-aggressive behavior and demonstrated poor conflict resolution and interpersonal skills. The absence of clear rules and direction further compounds the challenges. Proceed with caution.

The staff is so friendly and helpful. There are numerous activities - internal movies, speakers, and performers as well as trips outside to museums, concerts, sports happens, and local live theater productions. This past December & January I was in Ridge Crest, our on-side rehab facility. For the 2 months I was there I enjoyed great care, good food (3 delicious meals a day), and excellent physical therapy. My laundry was done daily and my room was dusted and vacuumed daily as well. I felt so spoiled by the attention from aides, CNA's, and RN's that it was hard to leave when I was well enough to return to my apartment. I received help in my apartment from Western CT, Home Health, from aides from Bridge Star Agency, and PT Therapists from Ridge Crest for the few weeks that I needed help. It is certainly wonderful to live in a place where such care is available on premises and where friends can easily visit. Ridge Crest felt like an extension of home - not a strange scary new place where there were no familiar faces. My decision to move to Meadow Ridge in 2007 was one of the best decisions of my life.
