Calendars of actvities are readily available for all to see as visual reminders. Staff is often seen seeking out residents to participate and encouraging them to try something new. Registered dietitians meet with residents/families to ensure the dietary needs are met while there are 3 dining rooms in which to eat your meals. They also provide cooking opportunities for residents to prepare a special dish for their dinners. Energy abounds in this facility following The Planetree Model of care. Rooms are spacious and extremely clean. Wifi/internet is available to all. Visiting hours are 8 am to 8 pm and families and guests are encouraged to spend time with their loved one. I don't consider myself a visitor at this point, although I've visited friends I made among the residents two or three times a week for several years., I started gettig involved with Gardner Heights twenty years ago playing music for churches services with First Baptist Church. I even did a music service for a couple of years when First Baptist was between pastors. I've done a Men's Club, and book club, as well as Jerry's Place where I told stories, sang and played guitar and read short stories from my books. In the twenty years I've volunteered and visited friends, I have come to see Gardner Heights from the inside at all hours of the day and night. My wife Ruth spent the last three and a half months of her life there, and the staff couldn't have been more attentive and caring than they were. As soon as they bring back volunteers, I'll be one of the first to come. I've already given notice. :-) I've performed at several nursing homes in the area. Many are newer and more beautiful, but none could match the loving kindness of the staff and administration at Gardner Heights.

He was brought there on a stretcher, but after two weeks of physical therapy, he was up and running again (ok, maybe not running, but he was walking again). I was impressed with the progress the staff made with my father's rehabilitation. My interactions with the staff were positive and informative. My father actually enjoyed his stay here and liked the staff. Overall, it was a positive experience.

She had me walking on my own. I am very grateful for Joyce. The food was subpar. When it was time for me to leave, I cried and hugged Jesus, who took such vert goid care OF ME. I WAS blessed to have such nice people who took care of me. Marie always stopped in to chat with me. Alice was a caring nurse. I home I got her name right. She was on the night shift . Just good things to say about the unit I was on.

Fantastic program for my elderly parent. My mom has Alzheimer's, recently had a stroke, and has…read moremany other medical needs. She started recently attending this program almost 2 months ago after leaving rehab. She attends 5 days a week and will always share stories with me every day of what she's done and what she enjoyed. It brings me great comfort to know that she is in a safe, caring, supportive, & engaging environment when I'm at work. I am always communicating with the staff about her schedule, because of appointments or if something is going on with my mom. All the staff are really pleasant and helpful in so many ways. She is starting to make friends which is great for the social butterfly that she is. I did look at other social model day programs and there is nothing else that came close to a quality that the town of Huntington adult daycare program provides. The hours of operation are also amazing. As many places do not start until at least 9 AM. However, with my work schedule that is not doable so I'm very appreciative that they start at 8 AM and they end by 4pm. I am really happy that she is in such a great environment and gets to do things that she may not be able to do otherwise. I'm looking forward to her celebrating her 90th birthday with her new friends.
