Calendars of actvities are readily available for all to see as visual reminders. Staff is often seen seeking out residents to participate and encouraging them to try something new. They also provide cooking opportunities for residents to prepare a special dish for their dinners. Energy abounds in this facility following The Planetree Model of care. Rooms are spacious and extremely clean. Wifi/internet is available to all. Visiting hours are 8 am to 8 pm and families and guests are encouraged to spend time with their loved one. I visit almost daily and I have found it to be a very nice place with very caring staff.

He was brought there on a stretcher, but after two weeks of physical therapy, he was up and running again (ok, maybe not running, but he was walking again). I was impressed with the progress the staff made with my father's rehabilitation. My interactions with the staff were positive and informative. My father actually enjoyed his stay here and liked the staff. Overall, it was a positive experience.

I don't consider myself a visitor at this point, although I've visited friends I made among the residents two or three times a week for several years., I started gettig involved with Gardner Heights twenty years ago playing music for churches services with First Baptist Church. I even did a music service for a couple of years when First Baptist was between pastors. I've done a Men's Club, and book club, as well as Jerry's Place where I told stories, sang and played guitar and read short stories from my books. In the twenty years I've volunteered and visited friends, I have come to see Gardner Heights from the inside at all hours of the day and night. My wife Ruth spent the last three and a half months of her life there, and the staff couldn't have been more attentive and caring than they were. As soon as they bring back volunteers, I'll be one of the first to come. I've already given notice. :-) I've performed at several nursing homes in the area. Many are newer and more beautiful, but none could match the loving kindness of the staff and administration at Gardner Heights.

My mom was a resident for over three years. She was initially in the Assisted Living community…read more At the beginning there was a great community relations director, Karolina. The staff, in general, was good and she was happy with her friends. She had a lovely one bedroom apartment. Mom's dementia progressed so she was moved to Memory Care. About the same time there was a big turnover with staff and directors. Mom's room in Memory Care was much smaller but adequate. It was a shared suite but she had a door for privacy. She was cared for but there were occasions when the staff was just sitting around and mom had to be changed or her clothes were on inside out and backwards. I would often help her in the bathroom. She was walking and socializing and going to the dining room. In November, 2024 mom became so sick she couldn't get out of bed. Long story short she almost died at the hospital due to extreme dehydration. Her blood sugar had skyrocketed and she was severely constipated. She is still with us but we moved her to a medical facility with long term care. She can no longer walk and she came out of the trauma with her dementia much progressed. This should never have happened to her at a Memory Care facility. Couldn't be the first time as they fired the executive director and director of nursing at around the same time mom got sick. Mom was at rehab for a month before they finally got back to me regarding my emails. They tried to say mom got dehydrated due to the heat being turned on. Absolutely ridiculous. They are lucky we didn't sue them for negligence.

Head nurse is not proactive with addressing medical issues and when pressed after days/weeks of no-following up or returned phone calls, she will tell you things like "well i need a day off too". Activity director seemed very nice but in the end she did not show any integrity and seemed to be full of the b.s. that's handed out like the other staff. A speckle of great workers but they were very outnumbered by the not-so-good ones. Most staff are just there and have no interest or passion for the elderly and spend a lot of time on their cell phones. Good luck if you choose this place. What you see is mostly a front. Sadly, a lot of the others places are the same.
