I was recommended to Spring Valley Exxon through a close friend who has been using them for over decade. They were willing to work with my budget, provide me with a list of work that is needed on my car but doesn't need to be done right away. Do NOT take your car here, especially if you are younger and/or a woman. I have an older car and these guys tried to convince me that it was going to break down any second and that I needed to make $5,000 worth of repairs (I only paid $4k for the car). Their estimate consisted primarily of overpriced routine maintenance, which Mike tried to convince me was critical. I got a second opinion from a more reputable mechanic and they said there was NOTHING wrong with my car and that it just needed some grease! These people are scammers and looking to make a quick buck. Avoid at all costs. read more

Mike and his staff have been really good to me. They re-secured my splash guard and did an engine diagnostic in record time for an EXTREMELY reasonable rate. Mike was very fair and honest about the results of the diagnostic. At no time did I get a hard sell or anything similar. read more

Don't let the high gas prices fool you in terms of the service garage! Mike, the manager: lead mechanic/ is amazingly professional and a careful as well as being incredibly fair. On two occasions he hooked me up for free for example , I visited him for a problem with a leaky sunroof-he sorted it out on the spot and wouldn't charge me- (where I was charged 176$ at Ernie's that I used to go to) - so when I needed struts abs control arm etc on an older car 2001 - I decided I just must go and try Soring Valley Exxon out -- he was very fair , concerned and kept me up to date with parts and also caught some other issues. He priced it all very fairly and since I'm relatively nearby - how great is it to be able to walk to get my car verses driving out to the beltway etc. Call me impressed! Anytime I called they answered quickly and got back to me with updates. When we had issues with ie: like getting a part or figuring out an issue - they went above and beyond to let me know and give me a fair deal. He also refused to let me pay any money until we were absolutely sure the car ran perfectly- I appreciate the honesty. Just paid $4.95/gal for 87 octane in the full serve island. They advertise the self-serve price and prey on first timers like me who assumed it's the same price as self-serve. Never seen an upcharge, never mind +1.00/gal, on full serve. This deceptive practice will prevent me from every paying another 1 cent on their gas or other services. Says so much about their business practice to not share the upcharge with customers. read more

This place is a disaster. I'll never stop here for gas again. It might as well be the 70's and a gas shortage. Pumps out of order. Majority of pumps are "Full Service". Waiting in line for gas because only one pump is working. Another is Diesel. No one policing people to hurry along. I watched someone as I was waiting pump gas and then take her dog out of the car as if no one was waiting. The attendant just let it happen. Will not be back! read more

Got a nail in my tire and pulled in to Spring Valley Exxon to see if they could repair. They said the nail was too close to the side wall to repair & that because I have four-wheel drive and only 35% tread left, I'd need to replace all four tires. Took the car to a different service station for a second opinion and the first thing they said was "those guys lied to you!" Tire was completely repairable. They plugged it in 10 minutes. *And* they said the tires have way more than 35% left, are "practically new." Obviously Spring Valley Exxon thought a woman was an easy mark. Stay clear of this business- they are scammers. read more

I've gone here for repairs, oh, I guess three times now, and each time, they have been fairly priced, quick, and good about communicating when my car would be ready. They are thorough (when I went in with brake issues, they caught that I had a nail in one of my tires), professional, and friendly. read more

Don't ever use the bathroom here. The person who takes service orders is Monosyllabic, so you don't learn very much before the mechanics start work. Most of all, you do not learn the (High) price, but u have been warned. Gas service is very nice but pricey, as all other reviewers say. These guys are rude, expensive and left our car dirty after we took it in for an oil change. My wife and I live in the neighborhood. We should have known better, but I'd didn't feel like taking our car to the dealership. I probably should have. Ultimately you get what you pay for. read more

Their service is really terrific when you don't have time to haul yourself out to the cheaper guys in MoCo. But their gas is hideously expensive. I confess to occasionally popping by and putting $5 in, just to get me to a cheaper station on River Road. And it's good that that is not far, because $5 at this Exxon will get you about one gallon. read more

BUYER BEWARE - This place charged me $3.86/gallon for regular gas, when nearby stations are only around $2.75. That's beyond reasonable. Apparently, they only provide full service dispensing - because they wouldn't let me fill up my own tank. As a result, I didn't see the price of gas until after the fill up. Ouch!! They should have plenty of FULL SERVICE ONLY signs, etc. I'm boycotting this place on principle alone. read more

This place is only for those with deep pockets. First of all, the gas here is consistently the highest in the area (around 30-50 cents higher than other nearby stations). Second of all, I brought my car there when the "check engine light" was on, and their price estimate to fix it was unbelievably high. My air intake hose had a hole in it, and they wanted to charge $230 to fix it. I am not at all a handy person, but I ordered a replacement online for $27 and installed it within 20 minutes. All it took was loosening a couple screws and one nut, not exactly rocket science. So they basically wanted to charge $200 for 15 minutes of work. In that same trip, I got my oil changed, which was $40, and yet I saw a station a few blocks away that offered changes for $30, which isn't at all cheap anyways (normally pay $20). All in all, you can go here if you don't care about how overpriced every aspect of their operation is. Their gas nor their mechanics have destroyed my car, but they make no qualms about fleecing you. read more

The front desk guy is helpful, straight forward, and always very up-front with pricing. I always feel like they give me an honest take on what the problem is and the prioritization of what's worth spending money on. They are nice folk and fine for minor repairs (cleaned my SUV drain holes, etc.) . They misdiagnosed a window problem (said the switch had to be replaced ($980) when it was an initialization issue after my batter was replaced); told me to replace a tire that was "bad" (the tire experts assured me it was not and patched the hole) and misdiagnosed my power steering problem (charging $98). For serious problems I would get second opinions. read more

Spring Valley Exxon USED to be great. Unfortunately, under new management, they lost all of their fabulous mechanics for reasons that I wont get into here. I took my car in for some maintenance and a headlight repair. They said that they could not do the headlight repair and suggested I take it to the dealer. I called Circle Exxon on Connecticut and they said no problem. I still get gas there because I love the staff that has been there forever, but will not take my car back for service no matter how convenient. read more

As most people have stated, they're expensive. Both for gas and for services. The work is decent, but my most recent visit left me cursing them out as they left all my windows down during a rain storm. There was no need to have my windows down in the first place. My car was soaked. They tried to tell me it didn't rain. Uhhh, I live less than 2 miles away. It rained. Had to get the whole thing detailed as it smelled awful. read more

I've gotten my car fixed here twice recently and the prices were extremely reasonable and the service couldn't have been better.

Have been going there for years because it is close by, but no longer. The most basic repair takes days, mechanics don't work on weekends, thus extending further the wait and they are very expensive. Will look for a new mechanic. read more

This place is TERRIBLE. I took my car here to get a specific problem fixed. First of all, they lost my keys. Second, they could not figure out what was wrong with the car. Third, they tried to get me to agree to pay them thousands of dollars to fix "other problems" with my car, even though they could not figure out how to fix what I actually took the car in for.
