My name is Darian and On my way to Washington DC from Philadelphia this past Friday July 24th, the tire on my Blue Jeep Liberty blew on the highway. The tow operator who was also incredible, toke me to this Exxon repair station. The gentlemen there were so helpful, nice and hospitable, it completely changed that entire experience for me and my girlfriend that day. Sean MaGrann and his team are incredible and I thank them from the bottom of my heart for their empathy for my blow-out situation. When i came back to pick up my car Wednesday July 29th, they continued with professional integrity that I haven't experience in a long time. My car is driving perfectly and am forever grateful to those gentlemen. I strongly refer their business and kindness to anyone in the Bethesda MD area. Thank you so much Sean MaGrann. You are the best at what you do and I honestly will never forget your kindness. Continued success my friend. Regards, Darian read more

I have been to this particular Metro Motor location three times and each time the service was excellent. Marty and the team are wonderful. I had tires replaced last week at another shop. I started losing air pressure days later in one of my tires. I took my vehicle to the shop that I purchased my tires. I was told that I had a screw in one of my tires and they were unable to do a patch. I was told I would need to replace that tire. I wanted a second opinion, I took my car to Metro Motor. They were able to correct the other shop's patch job mistake and patch my new tire. I am very grateful for their professionalism, knowledge, and willingness to help me. I definitely will be back for my car service needs. read more

I had my car towed here for a flat tire. Marty was so nice and gave me a good deal on my replacement tires. It is great to know that there is a good mechanic very nearby my new home. read more

I went in for an oil change and my check engine light was on. The mechanic told me there was a coolant leak and traced it back to the radiator. He said the car would need a new radiator and new hoses. He then gave me an estimate upwards of $2,200. I said to just change the oil for now and brought the car to my local guy. He said it just needed a new coolant reservoir and got the job done for $200 read more

Metro Motor - Auto Repair Near Me - Bethesda, Maryland

Newly arrived to the neighborhood I was looking for a place nearby to get an oil change. Hilltop had good reviews so I left my car there at 7:45 am and was assured that it would be ready "around noon". I called at 12:30 pm and was told I was "next on the lift" and would be ready to go at 3:00 pm. I walked over at 3:15 and was told "they couldn't get to it". No sorry, no explanation, no call alerting me to it. Took my keys and left. Bottom line I was lied to twice by a company that prides itself on customer service. The positive reviews do not in anyway reflect the attitudes of the employees or ownership of this business. Very sad. read more

Excellent and affordable service! The manager is so professional and texted me the next day to ask how my car was running!

This is a true neighborhood service station, where the service is top notch and I trust that the work that is being done needs to be done. Mo is amazing, and because of the good car and customer service at this place, I frequently wait to get my service done until I am back in town visiting my family (I live in Rehoboth Beach). Thanks for your great service, Hilltop! read more

This place is always great! I get my oil changed twice a year and they always make sure to check my brakes, rotate my tires, and steering every time I go. Since DC doesn't do inspections like PA does, it helps give me peace of mind. They also work hard to not overprice service and often can do it same day. Between my husband needing new tires and me now needing new brakes we are very lucky to have them!!! read more

Moe is probably one of the most friendly and, helpful gas station employees I have ever run across.

God is Great! Pulled into Exxon expecting to put air in one of my tires until I could get it patched, a very nice man, named Mo, offered to put air in my tires for me, and when I told him I had a screw in one of them, he immediately offered to patch my tire! I felt so bad I had no cash, I offered to use my card or even buy a coffee, and Mo said it was on him! I have never had such GREAT customer service when it comes to these type of situations! Thanks Mo for the speedy service with a smile! read more

I love to stop for gas here on my way to work in DC. I always look forward to the lovely classical music that plays while I'm gassing up my car. Last time, I had a bit of trouble with my credit card and a helpful gentleman ("Mo") came quickly out to help me without my asking! It was like a step back in time when there was a real attention to customer service. Thanks, Mo! read more

I have to agree with everyone who says to ignore the old ratings. I brought my ST in for winter tires and service. They did a great job and the customer service is phenomenal. The prices are also great and far better than what I have been normally paying. I highly recommend the team and a special shout out to Jason. I am planning to bring my car back. read more

I'd driven in from NYC only to discover that my right light was blown. They gave me an appointment within 24 hours and figured out that the socket was blown. That would take more than 24 hours to replace. But, they figured out that a new lightbulb did light up, so they put that in and sent me on my way with working headlights. Total cost? A whopping $23! I wish there were mechanics like this in NYC. read more

Wonderful! Under new ownership and amazing. They're super friendly, attentive, professional, and all-around great. I had work done, and they not only charged me a very low rate, but it was done exactly when they said that it would be. They also checked the car over, and gave me recommendations of what I may need in the future, without any pressure to do any of it right away. It feels like a real old-fashioned service station, but with all of the upscale amenities. I only live 1/2 mile away, but have generally avoided this station in the past due to the poor management. I'm so glad to have a great local spot now! Thank you Moe and Jason!!! read more

Highly recommend!! This place is truly about customer service at a good price. We were at Sibley hospital for cancer treatment and came back to a completely flat tire. We knew we couldn't get very far and remembered the Exxon that we pass every day on our way in. We were a little worried that it would be really expensive due to the location, but didn't have a lot of options. We are so glad we went there. Marty was able to quickly find the hole and repaired it for us right away, at a very good price. We were back on the road in no time. Thank you Marty! read more

Dealership prices, overpriced on everything they sell from the gasoline $3.50 to the propane tanks $30.

Went to drive my car to work and the power steering was making some funky noise. I called Hilltop Exxon super early in the morning and they were more than willing to see me later that day when I could bring my car in. Dana was incredibly communicative and a joy to talk to. He wasn't fazed when I asked if he would talk to my boyfriend about all the car stuff (I have no idea what I'm doing) and talked him through everything. My Camry is running smoothly now, and I'd go back in a heartbeat. Thanks, guys! read more

After another 18 months of visits, I'm still so happy to have a real "Service Station" in the neighborhood. Everyone is very friendly and they bend over backward to do everything possible to be helpful. read more

I ran out of gas on the corner approaching this gas station. The person behind the counter named Mo was so kind. He walked over and put some gas in my car and I was able to drive over and fill up the tank. They say people in America are not as kind as a used to be. I completely disagree and today was proof for me. He would not even take a tip for helping. He says this is just what we do. Excellent job Exxon station and Mo. read more

Brought a friend there with problems with his Subaru. We didn't even have to leave it a find out later what was wrong with it! Jason came right out with the diagnostic tablet and ran the test with us there. Suggested was was probably wrong with it (which I agreed that he was probably correct understanding something about cars myself) We left, he validated the problem though the part needed to be delivered after the weekend. No problem at all. Part delivered on Monday, installed and road tested. No BS regarding the cost or upsell which I was expecting. Jason and his guys I highly recommend that you consider using them. It reminded me of what I used to be like to go to an actual "Service Station" when I worked at one 35 years ago! read more

I grew up in the area, and my parents followed Dave from the old Texaco on Westbard as he took ownership of Hilltop Exxon. Dave, German, and the rest of the folks are friendly, trustworthy, and informative. They'll call you and lay out your options for repairs--pointing out what would be silly to fix if you're getting rid of your car soon, but what would be a wise investment if you'd like to keep your car for many years. Gas is expensive, but not outrageous considering: 1. it's in Brookmont, near other exorbitant stations in upper Northwest and Bethesda, and 2. it's in Brookmont, and it's the only gas station till you get to Glen Echo. read more

This is the Nordstrom of gas stations. I was approached by friendly Mo and he put air in my tire and offered to pump my gas. Too bad I don't live closer I would get my gas here instead. Sometimes it is the little things that make an experience an awesome one. Thanks MO. Found out he worked at Nordstrom a long time ago. His experience has paid off. read more

Took one of our cars here mostly because thought had a warranty issue with monroe quick strut, and they are a dealer (they did not do the installation). Also did oil change and tire rotation as long as I was there. I can unequivocally say they are honest and not only did not try to talk me into unnecessary service, they talked me out of unnecessary repair, laying out why I didn't need it, no safety issue and showed me the details of the car on the lift. I am high maintenance on my vehicles, maintaining them properly and keeping them forever. I absolutely will return. read more

I have used this station for decades. The owner and staff are skilled, polite, and on time. This work has been everything from routine maintenance to emergency major surgery on a balky Nissan Maxima. Price for service are very competitive but for fuel they are over the top. Tom Cathedral Ave read more

Mo is fantastic. We ended up with a nail in a tire as we were heading out of town for the weekend - he fixed it in 10 mins and we were able to get on the road without any issues. I highly recommend this service station for the amazing customer service! read more

This place did my oil change......cost me $53 which is kind of high. I also asked them how much it would cost to do a timing belt change. He said, with all this extra stuff, that it would cost $1000. I've never paid more than 300-400 for a timing belt/water pump. So yeah, they are expensive.....and deserted on a Sat afternoon. read more

My experience was awful. I explained that the vehicle was going to be restored and needed to be operable. The man at Hilltop said they could do it and to bring it in. I paid $70 to get the vehicle towed by the tow company he recommended. When I took it to Hilltop the man refused to work on it. He was downright nasty and belligerent and yelled at me "to get that thing out of here!" " -- after they told me they would do it. I had to pay another $75 to tow it back. I can understand if after assessing the situation they might have found it too complicated and they politely explained why, but there is NO EXCUSE for hostile, belligerent behavior. Fortunately, I found a mechanic to do the work and the restoration proceeds. read more

Thank you so much for your kindness and quick service! My Dad and I stopped by this gas station this morning to put some air in our tires. We pulled up to the self-service pump and we were barely out of our cars before one of the men working at the station called us over to the service bay and handled everything for us. We really appreciated the phenomenal customer service. The guys were so nice and are very proactive to help any way they can! read more

Just want to give a shout out to Mr. Mo, who thoroughly checked all of my tires to find the leaky one, thereby preventing me from blowing a tire at a later, inconvenient point on my trip and potentially becoming a horror movie statistic. After quickly topping me off, he refused a tip, even though he totally deserved one. Thanks Mo! read more

Ok service but just not the same friendly place it used to be. Different guy behind the counter and he isn't very friendly doesn't look up from his phone when you walk in and doesn't assist people at the pump at all. Place going downhill quickly better bring Mo back quickly! read more

I love Hilltop Exxon, to the viewer above, doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that you don't have to remove a tire to see brake pads...and i'm a woman. They been working on my car for years, and wouldn't take my car to any other place...German you're the best!!! Mrs.M read more

Super service!! I had a flat tire and called this evening to schedule a repair. I was actually calling to schedule something for tomorrow as the service station closes at 5:00, and I called at 5:30. The gentleman that did the repairs were fast, professional, showed me exactly what was wrong, and were reasonably priced. Wow! read more

Mo did it again - bailed me out after 5 PM and in the blink of an eye. I noticed an indicator on my dashboard late this afternoon showing my car had a rear light issue. I drove immediately to Hilltop Exxon. Seeing Mo's friendly wave of recognition made me feel relieved immediately. I was hoping to be able to make an appointment to get it fixed, or at least looked at, the next day. Instead he insisted on looking at it right away and he fixed it on the spot! Such a nice man and so knowledgeable. I honestly don't know how I got by before I met Mo at Hilltop Exxon. He makes my life so much easier and I always leave with a smile on both of our faces. You couldn't do better than knowing Mo and having his expert hand on your car. He's SUCH a nice fellow, too. read more

I had a fantastic experience yesterday. I was driving to work and needed gas, so I filled up at this Metro Motor. When I tried to start my car, it would not come to life. The bad news was my battery was dead. The good news is this happened right there at the gas station. The team diagnosed the problem, jumped the car, replaced the battery in their garage and had me back on the road in 15 minutes. They were professional, prompt and so friendly (pulling a chair into the office for me to wait and offering me snacks). I'm already a customer of the Metro Motor at Q&Wisconsin, so it was great to find another fantastic location. Thanks everyone for the great service yesterday! read more

These guys are under new management! They are professional, accommodating, and do great work. I totally agree with the previous review - no up-selling, friendly, and reliable. I highly recommend them. read more

It's true, ignore all reviews dated prior to 2016! This place is under new management, with an entirely new staff. I can say with all sincerity that these guys are doing it right! The old management, and the employees in general, were always either indifferent or downright grumpy. But that kind of experience is now a distant memory now that Jason, Mo and the crew have taken over. Mo always greets customers at the counter (register) with a smile and great attitude. If you're a regular, you can come to expect a handshake/fistbump, he'll even start recognizing your car when you pull in to the pumps and wave thru the window. Super friendly and helpful! The garage is staffed by mechanics all wearing a standard uniform, and despite the fact they work on dirty, greasy cars all day, those uniforms aren't dingy and dirty, like some mechanics I've dealt with at other shops. They're all friendly and courteous, too. Jason, the service manager/location manager is super knowledgeable, friendly and eager to help. After several lengthy, enjoyable conversations about cars, I can tell this guy has years of experience, don't let his youthful appearance fool you. I had taken my former 2008 VW Rabbit here for a wheel balance, after detecting vibration at speeds between 65-70mph, as well as to deal with a dash warning light indicating a bulb failure that I couldn't detect. They quickly determined that two of the 40 brake-light bulbs had burnt out, one on each side (why I couldn't detect it, since my brake lights still came on, just not as vividly), and replaced them both, only charging me for one bulb! They also found that not only was one wheel (right front) way out of balance, the left tire had a large bubble on the sidewall, and was a safety issue and should be replaced ASAP. He also informed of that all 4 tires had bad dry rot, and were close to the replacement wear indicators, and that he could replace either the one tire with bubble, or all 4. He also said he could get the same tires or different ones. I like to research my tires online before buying, and usually purchase my tires via Tire Rack and he informed me that was fine, and that I could have them shipped directly to Hilltop Exxon for convenience! Very cool! I also chose to carefully drive the car home, and guess what? The tire with the bubble only made it half way home! Jason was right! It was a ticking time-bomb and I'm thankful they'd found that issue and instead of it flatting on the highway, I was heading home (Adam's Morgan) and going a slow 25mph. I put on my spare tire, went home and ordered a set of new tires. The next day they were delivered to Hilltop Exxon, and within 45 mins of dropping off the car, I got a call from Jason informing me my car was ready. My VW suddenly handled more nimbly, felt more planted (despite the tires needing break-in miles for full traction) and the vibration at highway speeds was gone! Another thing very worth mentioning... at no time did Jason try to up-sell me on anything. He pointed out a few minor things that will need service later on, but informed me none of them were serious and all cases had a decent chunk of miles left in their life-spans, and just wanted me to keep it in mind over time. Very helpful and informative. I highly and heartily recommend Hilltop Exxon/Metro Motors for your service and repairs, as well as for fueling up, or even just stopping in to grab a soda or snack from the shop! Jason, Mo and the guys are top notch. read more

Beg to differ with the other reviewer of Hilltop Exxon. Went in for an oil change and they told me I needed a coolant fluid flush and new brake pads. Only thing is, I had the pads replaced six months before. When I took the car to my regular mechanic, he remarked that the wheel lug nuts had not been removed, so the mechanic never even checked brake pad wear before recommending replacement. Stay away! read more

I can't say enough great things about this place. The service is amazing. They're professional, kind, honest and they go above and beyond to make sure you're taken care of. As a young woman, I often feel taken advantage of at garages/service stations/dealerships etc. These guys are so genuine and such good people-- they explained everything clearly to me. Got the job done and were sweethearts all around. I will always come back to this place and I will recommend them to anyone. Thank you Jason and thanks to all the guys! read more
