Date, Time & Amount spent for 3 people to have the worst dinner of all time after a 2nd attempt to give them a chance.
ChelleBelle V.

Sadly this is not my norm hyped up good food review. In an attempt to give Spring Creek another shot, it was even worse. The food wasn't even worth a photo let alone the cost for what could have been a week's worth of groceries. Save yourself and go to HEB and get a hungry man meal. I promise it would be better than this. You can see what we got based on the receipt. We should have turned away when we walked up and he was sawing the burnt dry brisket. Nope, it made it on the plate under the fatty parts! I'm truly not sure that anything other than the rolls are cooked in house. Warmed up, maybe, but considering all food was less than room temp, I doubt it. The mac n cheese doesn't even have a cheese taste. Just yellow in color and also dry yet mushy. The friendly girl serving the warm fresh rolls was about the only good part other than it was quiet and mostly empty inside (maybe not a good sign). We used to really enjoy this place years ago. BBQ takes time to cook so during the week it was a treat to not cook and come enjoy some good bbq or smoked chicken, my favorite, but NOT anymore. The meat literally scratched my throat and took water to swallow it down and these weren't burnt ends. Just burnt and dried up. Sadly I tasted the ribs off our child's plate to see how those were and those were equally just dry. The watery sauce didn't help anything. Even in food service, you know if you are serving dried up crap. If you wouldn't eat it, please don't serve it to someone else. It seemed as if the meat had been sitting under the warmer lamps all day until we arrived. Even the rolls served on our plates with our meal were hard as rocks. Again, thankfully a friendly girl came & served us some fresh hot ones. I didn't leave a review with our last visit thinking it may have been an off night but it doesn't seem so, which is why I am sharing our experience this time. Do better Spring Creek. Like you used to do!

Sliced Brisket Sandwich, bbq sauce, and roll
Perry F.

The Brisket here is really good. I would say it's a 4/5. Not the best, but above average. The sides are nothing special. The rolls are free and taste delicious. I would say the price is expensive, but a lot of bbq spots are pricey now days. I would say it's a fair price. My biggest complaint was, there seemed to be a musty smell that lingering throughout the restaurant that made it difficult for me to enjoy my food. If it wasn't for the mediocre sides and smell, I would bump this score up to a 4/5. Basically, go for the bbq, not the sides.

Vent

I like the food but was a bit put off after seeing their vents. Just needs a good cleaning there

Not too much expectation for Humble area. Food was mediocre and of course not the best in Houston. Meat wasn't tender as other bbq place. The rolls bake in house was probably the one that make people comeback. Service was also not impressive. Would I come back, I don't think so. Price range definitely not worth the trip. Compare to other bbq place in town this is actually more pricey.

Southwest Salad

TASTY! Delicious southwest salad here. Smoked chicken breast served on a bed of fresh greens & topped with onions, black beans, cheese, bell peppers, pico de gallo, guacamole, & tortilla strips. I had the jalapeño ranch dressing and it was so good. The 2-meat dinner of pulled pork and sliced brisket was a plate full of deliciousness! Brisket was seasoned well and tender. The pulled pork melted in your mouth. The potato salad was creamy and the mac & cheese was really cheesy. Fresh bread delivered right to your table is an added bonus. Great service and I would definitely recommend.

The cost, for me, works out to ~$9/serving. Worth it.

I wasn't at home when I ordered this meal a couple of weeks ago. Had it delivered to my grandson's school. Smoked meat has always been to me, more delicious without any sauce. Spring Creek's smoked meat is amazingly tasty and tender through 2-3 days as I eat small portions. Didn't dry out. The fresh baked rolls - Ice cream destroys a good cobbler, especially when the crust melts in your mouth. Even my vegetarian son eats SC's barbecue.

Dude you employ styrofoam cups...really?
Darris J.

The experience is closer to what it was when I first started patronizing several years ago. I only expect the basics in a fast food or fast casual environment and they are back to that. It seems much of the curt and apathetic staff have moved on. Service is much more prompt and quality is up as well.

Awesome food here. Best chili rellenos i've found. White queso or yellow. Chimichanga is great.

It's good not great. Their brisket was too dry for me and the sides don't seem to be homemade. They do have good rolls that are unlimited.

Good basic BBQ for the area. I like the baked potatoes stuffed with sausage. Their turkey is excellent as well.

Every month our club meets…read morefor lunch at a local restaurant, we started after Covid as a way to support the community and so many places that were struggling. Four years on and we still enjoy doing it. This month was back to an old favorite, Fire Craft BBQ. Owner and head pit master, David Welch puts his heart and soul into the products his restaurant turns out. Not only that, there is a lot of variety and specialty dishes on the menu that most other BBQ places don't serve. We had 14 in our group and were able to pull together some tables and chairs in the large additional dining room they added not long after opening. The room is clean and well lit, big ceiling fans keep the air moving. Our group ordered a variety of things; I had the brisket hamburger with a side of the very southern yellow squash casserole. My wife had the chopped beef sandwich with fries and another friend had the chicken plate with beans and coleslaw. Others had their tocos and other sandwiches, one had the ribs. We were all full and happy when we finished. What 's nice is David came by to check on us and make sure everyone was happy, not many owners take that kind of personal attention.

The employees were helpful on answering my questions and I ended up ordering a brisket sandwich with mustard potato salad. In the dining area there was BBQ sauce which had a great flavor. The meal came out quickly and was what PERFECT smoked brisket should taste like. I was in Heaven! Often when you ask for lean you get a dry meat and this was not only very lean but also not dry whatsoever. It was nice and tender. The smoke flavor was perfect as well. I ate some plain and some with the BBQ sauce on it and honestly it was great both ways. Service was also great. An employee came by regularly to make sure we did not need anything and then a man who I'm pretty sure is the owner came by as well to make sure we were happy with our meal... which we were. I will be back in Houston in February and I know exactly where I will be eating when I get off that plane! Thanks for an amazing dinner.

CorkScrew BBQ - Pulled pork, brisket, a rib with mac& cheese

CORKSCREW BBQ is Houston's Michelin star restaurant! It is about 30 minutes drive north of Houston,…read morewhich isn't super bad. They are only open Wednesday-Saturday 11AM-4PM. We came a little earlier and there was already a long line. I heard that if you order in advance, you can skip the line. While you wait, the employees walk around and you can order a drink. Which is nice if you're waiting a while and it gets hot. The employees were all very nice and ambiance is how you would expect a regular bbq restaurant to be. There are plenty of seating outside but limited inside. The seats are all first come first serve, so usually the inside seating runs out first. We ordered 1/2lb ribs, 1/2lb brisket, 1/2lb sausages, and some sides like Mac&cheese, beans, loaded potato, cobbler, etc. total was about $120 after tip. The food was very delicious and worth the drive. Although, I will say that it doesn't taste that much different from my other favorite bbq restaurants. I was still a great experience and very delicious. I highly recommend to try if you're in the area.

Since they were awarded their Michelin star, I've been wanting to try CorkScrew... in particular,…read moretheir beef rib. Beef ribs are my go to bbq protein, and not many places have them. I've tried those deemed "the best," including Salt Lick in Driftwood and Killen's. So how did CorkScrew measure up? In addition to the beef rib, we tried the moist brisket, pulled pork, and sausage. We also tried several sides, including those recommended in the Michelin review: potato salad, mac and cheese, smokey beans, and coleslaw, and I picked up a peach cobbler, as well. The beef rib: STELLAR. This was outstanding with its flavorful bark and an impossibly tender texture that truly melts in your mouth, unlike any other beef rib I've ever had. Easily the very best beef rib, without a doubt. The brisket was delicious, as well: tender and flavorful. The sausage was nothing special... on par with sausage elsewhere, as was the pork. As for the sides, I've never been a fan of beans, but since the Michelin review specifically mentioned them, I gave them a try. I'm a fan! I would definitely order these again. Their smokiness is gently tamed by a touch of sweetness. The rest? Very average. The mac and cheese tasted like the stuff I had in my elementary school cafeteria - very un-special. The potato salad was salty and was missing any semblance of potato chunks. The texture was oddly like lumpy mashed potatoes. But the other surprise for me: the cobbler. This was simply and divinely perfect with crisp, sweet buttery crumble. A wonderful way to end a hearty meal. I'm so glad I ordered our food online for pickup. When I arrived at 1pm, the line was wrapped around the building. Pickup was very easy: I texted them when I arrived, and they replied when they were ready for me to go in and retrieve it. But even if there wasn't a line, I would never eat there: the restaurant is too divey for me: very rustic, picnic-like feel both inside and out, and it was uncomfortably warm and humid (again, inside and out.) The staff was very friendly and cheerful. Glad i tried it, and when i get a hankering for a good beef rib, this is definitely where I'll be getting it!
