    Bbq sandwich

Pappas BBQ always taste good. It's definitely not the best bbq in Houston, but it's well above average. The food is overpriced in my opinion, but it's good. Definitely add fries to any order for a few dollars more. They are some of the best and the basket is huge. I would tell them no sauce on the sandwich because they have several different sauce options that you can choose and use yourself. One complaint I have is my partner received her sandwich and I had to wait about 10 minutes for mine. Also, several other people were getting served that ordered after me. Additional, they gave me chopped beef when I asked for sliced.

Got 30 minutes home to eat our meal and the meat inside out sandwiches were completely raw. Even in the drive through we had to pull around and wait. We were so grossed out by the raw meat in both of our sandwiches we couldn't even eat our sides. This is absolutely sickening. $42.11 for 2 sandwiches and 2 fries that we couldn't eat is terrible.

One single slice of jalapeño bread

Management here needs to be replaced and online system needs to be fixed. Last night I ordered the family meal and I upgraded the bread to the jalapeño cheddar. There was no option online to add the type of bbq sauce or ask if I wanted pickles, jalapeños or onions. Before even getting my order I was called and notified there wasn't any creamed corn.... No big deal. Swapped it out with something else. I get to the restaurant to pick up my order and there is one slice of cheddar jalapeño bread on a family order. No condiments included so I talked to the manager. How are you going to have a family meal, give the option to upgrade the bread and only give once slice? Are these people not Texan??? One slice of bread on a bbq order..... manger informs me yeah it's only one slice.... She graciously provides me with another slice and some regular white bread. Let's assume the family meal is for 4 people. What are FOUR people gonna do with ONE slice of bread? I know Texas is in a drought but I didn't realize that Pappas was in the middle of a wheat, cheddar and jalapeño famine. Taco Bell is more liberal with their sauce then this place is with bread. I was provided with a SMALL container of six pickle slices, two jalapeños and a whole one? and one ring of onion. Again this is a FAMILY meal. Four pickles is the minimum of one bbq sandwich for most people. I'm a four pickles person. And I should have checked for bbq sauce but I asked in the bbq sauce in the bag to which I was told yes it was in the bag. I get home and guess what?! NOT IN THE BAG. And yes I know I should have checked but after dealing with the bread miser scrogette I was just over the whole experience. Quality of the food was mediocre. I personally would rather hit up Rudy's in the future. Better meats and they have a whole bar dedicated to condiments, aren't skimpy on the bread and always make sure the bbq sauce is in the bag. Sorry not sorry Pappas. You need to do better on behalf of Texas. Also pulled pork had a strange taste like cleaner.....

Good sized restaurant with plenty of tables to sit small or large groups. Came here for a CHL course. Even when the lines get a bit long, the service is good so you don't have to stand in line very long. If you order something that takes a lil longer to prepare like the catfish plate, they give you a sensor to tell you when your order is ready. Place is clean, staff was friendly. I had the catfish plate, great portion and it was hot with a light crispness and was tasty. The banana pudding was good, not the best that I've had but it was decent. The pecan pie would've been better had it been heated up a bit. Would definitely return to try other things on the menu.

Not sure what happened today was first in line at 11 am got a tossed salad w/slice beef & it hurts me to say this but the brisket was dry it looked like they used meat that was left over & just threw it in microwave really disappointed I pass by at least once a week most pappas restaurants are on top of everything not sure what happened today maybe it's not good be the first in line Hahahaha

Where is the flavor?!?!? Man I was excited about some Texas bbq but disappointed I was indeed. I had the pulled pork loaded baked potato with everything on it, but it tasted like I was eating a plain Jane. The boyfriend had a chopped beef brisket sandwich with fries, again flavorless. The restaurant itself was clean and the staff was very friendly and pleasant, wish I could have left a good review.

Decided to eat here for lunch on a Saturday. I ordered the two meat plate w/ Mac and cheese and green beans with jalapeño bread and a sweet tea. The jalapeño bread was not what I expected. It was literally bread with 1 spec of jalapeño and cheese throughout. The meat plate was okay. It was cold. The Mac and cheese was cheesy and thick. The green beans was crunchy and not seasoned well. The sweat tea was not sweet. Almost lacks sugar and could past for unsweetened tea. Brisket baked potato: it was meh. Brisket was lean and not marbleized. Agua Fresca Watermelon drink was very enjoyable. Recommend to try Spring Creek BBQ as a option for tasteful BBQ.

I have been coming to Pappas BBQ for a while and its good BBQ but not the best BBQ I've had better. a lot of things lack at Pappas and it could be better in my opinion. first there is no full service you have to order at the counter and a style cafeteria where you have to slide your tray to the end of the line were you pay, these trays are very heavy and the dishes are heavy along with the food on it, its even heavier there is no help offered when going to your table if you have more than one tray you might have to make two trips and you definitely have to hold with two hands. the bake potato's are about my favorite thing on this whole menu but sometimes the potato can be hit or miss its either soft or bit tuff at times but I enjoy the toppings that you can put on it such as pulled pork or chop chicken along with condiments like butter, sour cream, bacon, chives, and shredded cheese but I think 12$ for a baked potato is way over priced in my opinion, I like the po'boy sandwiches such as the brisket, the brisket has a good smoke taste to it and amount of meat is a good portion and I find it weird that between a bun and a hero style bread is a 1$ difference id get the po'boy over the sandwich any day its a no brainer in price. I wouldn't recommend the half chicken as to me the chicken doesn't looked fully cooked and is a bit on the pink side which doesn't look pleasing to me, I was told by the manager one time that its the smoke ring makes the color on the chicken since its smoked for hours. I'm sure they wouldn't put out raw chicken but to me in my opinion it was on the pink side. I would definitely wouldn't get this again I do enjoy the other items on the menu like their grilled cheese and burgers they are pretty good and well worth with id say, the steak fries are hit or miss some days they are good some days they are not sure if it lacks seasoning. like I mentioned its good BBQ but not the best but Pappas can improve in some areas.

Every time over the last year that I've visited Pappas BBQ I've left unhappy. I am finally over it. There are just too many BBQ places in the area to have to put up with: - Ridiculously slow drive thru - steadily increasing prices - Dry and flavorless brisket - much smaller portions - bad customer service (drive thru team in a full blown conversation with each other and flat out ignoring customers to the point that she was literally turned talking to them while sticking my credit card out of the window. Wasn't even close to my hand) - Asked for my potato fixings on the side so they put ALL of it in one container where if was all mixed together. $16.00 for this foolishness. See picture. - The restroom looks like it has not been cleaned since the place opened years ago. Pappas used to be reliable. I am done. Look at the Turkey portion size. AirPods for scale.

So we are new to visiting Houston. We asked the Rent-A-Car people what do you recommend we go for good Texas BBQ? 3 employees all set to go to Papa's barbecue in humble Texas. We found it using GPS mapping to be very close to IAH airport. Outside there was a huge line of cars picking up so parked and walked in. They had quite a large menu so I took my time reading the whole thing to try and figure out what to get. In the end I got a combo BBQ pork ribs and brisket. Side dishes for macaroni and cheese, dirty rice and I got a mashed potatoes and gravy. To this I added a poor boy sandwich with half pulled pork and half chicken. Overall I'd say the best fare was the pork ribs, the brisket was pretty disappointing and a chicken side of the poor boy was pretty average. The pulled Park was clean and plentiful but really needed a lot more barbecue sauce then they gave us. I don't understand how he had such a long line of cars for such an average dining experience. It's not like it was some kind of crazy bargain. Overall the best I can give is three stars. It's decent but not enough of it stuff was great. I would rate it as being overrated and overpriced.

Let me start by saying I'm a regular here. I get take out every week or two from the drive through. The food is about as great as you will get for chain barbecue. The ribs are awesome. They are normally five stars for me. Today, I stopped by the drive through for my usual order of beef ribs to take home. The line seemed to move a bit slower than usual and I sat at the leaker for a good minute or two before the attendant acknowledged, then another wait until she took my order. In my case, I ordered the rib platter, and then said "cucumber salad for both sides, with a pint of macaroni and cheese". My order was read back as "cucumbers and cole slaw" for sides. I corrected the attendant and repeated the same order, and she sounded like she repeated my order back correctly this time but as I pulled forward the total she gave me sounded a bit light, and I suspected the order was not right. When I got to the window, as I handed my payment over, I commented that the order did not sound like it cost enough and I asked her one more time to confirm the order. It turns out she was saying "side" of Mac n Cheese instead of Pint, and had selected the half-pint instead. And the way she said "side" sounded like "Pint". Ok. This is still not the problem. Mistakes happen. Vehicles can be loud. Things can be hard to hear. The next thing out of her mouth is "I read the order back to you" and decided to blame me, the paying customer, for her lack of clarity. I made it clear I'd already had to repeat the order twice and she chose to walk away from the window with her hand up, dismissively. Not "I'm sorry, it's hard to hear" or "I'm sorry, let me fix that" but essentially "it's your fault" She came back, corrected the order, gave me my food and I'm guessing thanked me, it was kind of soft spoken, masks, etc. I said "good luck" because that's not how you handle mistakes, and if that's how you roll, yer gonna need some luck. If management sees this, know that I'm not looking for freebies or discounts. Just sharing feedback in a way that won't be ignored. I did not ask for a manager at that time nor did she choose to escalate me to a manager.

My wife had the chopped beef sandwich with fries and another friend had the chicken plate with beans and coleslaw. Others had their tocos and other sandwiches, one had the ribs. We were all full and happy when we finished. What 's nice is David came by to check on us and make sure everyone was happy, not many owners take that kind of personal attention.

Often when you ask for lean you get a dry meat and this was not only very lean but also not dry whatsoever. It was nice and tender. The smoke flavor was perfect as well. I ate some plain and some with the BBQ sauce on it and honestly it was great both ways. Service was also great. The food was very delicious and worth the drive. Although, I will say that it doesn't taste that much different from my other favorite bbq restaurants. I've tried those deemed "the best," including Salt Lick in Driftwood and Killen's. So how did CorkScrew measure up? In addition to the beef rib, we tried the moist brisket, pulled pork, and sausage. We also tried several sides, including those recommended in the Michelin review: potato salad, mac and cheese, smokey beans, and coleslaw, and I picked up a peach cobbler, as well. The beef rib: STELLAR. This was outstanding with its flavorful bark and an impossibly tender texture that truly melts in your mouth, unlike any other beef rib I've ever had. Easily the very best beef rib, without a doubt. The brisket was delicious, as well: tender and flavorful. The sausage was nothing special... on par with sausage elsewhere, as was the pork. As for the sides, I've never been a fan of beans, but since the Michelin review specifically mentioned them, I gave them a try. I'm a fan! I would definitely order these again. Their smokiness is gently tamed by a touch of sweetness. The rest? Very average. The mac and cheese tasted like the stuff I had in my elementary school cafeteria - very un-special. The potato salad was salty and was missing any semblance of potato chunks. The texture was oddly like lumpy mashed potatoes. But the other surprise for me: the cobbler. This was simply and divinely perfect with crisp, sweet buttery crumble. A wonderful way to end a hearty meal. I'm so glad I ordered our food online for pickup. When I arrived at 1pm, the line was wrapped around the building. Pickup was very easy: I texted them when I arrived, and they replied when they were ready for me to go in and retrieve it. But even if there wasn't a line, I would never eat there: the restaurant is too divey for me: very rustic, picnic-like feel both inside and out, and it was uncomfortably warm and humid (again, inside and out.) The staff was very friendly and cheerful. Glad i tried it, and when i get a hankering for a good beef rib, this is definitely where I'll be getting it!
