Got into town around dinner time and was looking for some good bbq for dinner. Stopped here based on the reviews on here and it didn't disappoint. You order at the counter and then they give you a number and they bring your food out to you. They have serve yourself drinks and tea and bbq etc I opted for the prime rib. I would have preferred it to be cooked a little more as a personal preference. However it did have a nice flavor and seasoning on it. The green beans are whole but they have flavor unlike some places. Jalapeno spoon bread was delicious it's like corn casserole met cornbread. Hubby got the sampler platter with smoked turkey, ribs, brisket and salmon. Fun fact they will let you sample the meats before you decide on which ones you want. The salmon was hands down the best salmon he ever had he said. It completely hit different and would definitely order again The brisket was juicy and had a great bark on it with amazing flavor and seasoning Turkey wasn't dry at all and had a great smoked flavor Ribs were fall off the bone good with yet again great seasoning Baked beans- didn't care for these at all they tasted like ketchup Mac and cheese was just basic wouldn't order again Potato salad was the best side out of the ones he got. They also bring half a load of bread More than enough to share read more

I'll definitely itely be back. Some bbq places don't have mac and cheese so I am glad that they did and it was actually pretty good. The chopped chicken sandwich was also good. I prefer chicken so I had been wanting to try this place. All were good and I am fairly picky with bbq. I which they had a few different bbq sauces but I won't down them for that as the flavor of the one they had was good. Service was good. You walk up and order. Food was given out quickly. We didn't get to try the ribs as we were told they were out but sounded like they just didnt have the next batch ready. Wish we would have been told that cause we would have waited but not a huge deal. Owner was there, at least I think he was the owner, and he was going around to each table to make sure everything was good. That was appreciated. I always appreciate when the owners are there and personable. read more

We've been on a hunt for the best BBQ in the Houston area. Fire Craft was in the line up so we decided to stop by to see what it was all about. We arrived around 12pm on a Saturday. The restaurant was spacious, clean, not too crowded and the wait to order was not long at all. We approached the register to place our order and the young lady at the register wasn't the friendliest. No hello, no smile, just a stare. We wanted ribs but were told they sold out, however we heard another employee saying they had a batch coming off the pit. I also tried to order the pinto beans and she said those were sold out as well. We found a table and waited about 10 mins or so for our food to be delivered do our table. We ordered a chopped chicken sandwich, baked potato, Mac n cheese, baked beans, corn spoon-bread, and brisket. Most of the items were really good and freshly made. Baked beans were just okay, reminded me of pork n beans. The spoonbread had great texture but lacked flavor. Although the cashier wasn't the most pleasant, the manager made up for the lacking customer service. He could be seen walking around the restaurant interacting with customers and asking about their experience. Overall it was a pretty good experience! read more

OK, be forewarned! The food is delicious and the servings are generous! Every month our club meets for lunch at a local restaurant, we started after Covid as a way to support the community and so many places that were struggling. Four years on and we still enjoy doing it. This month was back to an old favorite, Fire Craft BBQ. Owner and head pit master, David Welch puts his heart and soul into the products his restaurant turns out. Not only that, there is a lot of variety and specialty dishes on the menu that most other BBQ places don't serve. We had 14 in our group and were able to pull together some tables and chairs in the large additional dining room they added not long after opening. The room is clean and well lit, big ceiling fans keep the air moving. Our group ordered a variety of things; I had the brisket hamburger with a side of the very southern yellow squash casserole. My wife had the chopped beef sandwich with fries and another friend had the chicken plate with beans and coleslaw. Others had their tocos and other sandwiches, one had the ribs. We were all full and happy when we finished. What 's nice is David came by to check on us and make sure everyone was happy, not many owners take that kind of personal attention. read more

Decided to finally check out Fire Craft BBQ after hearing good things about it. Oh man it was good! Went on a Thursday around 12 noon and the line was out the door but moved quickly. Went with a 3 meat combo and 2 sides so I could try a variety. $30 seemed a bit expensive but once I saw how much food it was I felt like the price was very fair. The fatty brisket is soooooo good. Melts in your mouth. Jalapeno sausage was delicious with a nice snap. Ribs were very good also. Pinto beans with pulled pork are insane good. Way more pulled pork with it than I was expecting so that was a nice bonus. Everyone in there was very friendly and checked on me a couple times making sure everything was good with my food. They have to-go boxes, which I definitely needed. I took home about half my meal. If you are in Houston or in particular the Kingwood area, make sure to check out Fire Craft bbq. read more

Flew into Houston from California and landed hungry! You cannot go to Texas and not have some good BBQ so loaded up Yelp as soon as I got off the plane and settled for Fire Craft BBQ.. The employees were helpful on answering my questions and I ended up ordering a brisket sandwich with mustard potato salad. In the dining area there was BBQ sauce which had a great flavor. The meal came out quickly and was what PERFECT smoked brisket should taste like. I was in Heaven! Often when you ask for lean you get a dry meat and this was not only very lean but also not dry whatsoever. It was nice and tender. The smoke flavor was perfect as well. I ate some plain and some with the BBQ sauce on it and honestly it was great both ways. Service was also great. An employee came by regularly to make sure we did not need anything and then a man who I'm pretty sure is the owner came by as well to make sure we were happy with our meal... which we were. I will be back in Houston in February and I know exactly where I will be eating when I get off that plane! Thanks for an amazing dinner. read more

Originally starting as a food truck (which is still operating), this first brick-n-mortar location of Fire Craft BBQ is located in Kingwood, TX, serving up Texas style Pit-smoked BBQ. I got carryout to bring back for dinner, and found the meat and sides to be good, though a bit expensive. Brisket (1 LB) - $36 - thickly cut, choice of moist, lean, or both. We got both. I had to try it immediately after we got it, to see if it had that OMG taste when the beef 'butter' is still dripping from the meat, when it is impossibly moist but still has great texture. This wasn't it. Wasn't sure if it had been pre-cut, or the brisket hadn't been kept warm properly, but parts of it was quite dry. I later ate some pieces closer to the vein of fat, and it was better. I did need a bit of bbq sauce as well. It was seasoned very well, and the quality of the beef (exclusively from Goodstock by Nolan Ryan) was obviously very good. Smoked Turkey (1/2 LB) - $14 - Very moist with good texture. Got 3 sides: Brussels Sprouts ($16 for 32oz) - it had been prepared well and tasted fine. I'm confident that it would have tasted amazing fresh out of the roasting oven, but it's hard to maintain that. Thus it tasted more like normal, steamed brussels sprouts. Dirty Rice ($16 for 32oz) - well made, with plenty of ground beef mixed in with the moist (almost wet) rice. Went really well with the brisket. Baked Beans ($16 for 32oz) - non-descript. No meat. Tasted fine, but not much better than what you can get from good canned baked beans. Was able to pay using Apple Pay, and the order was ready within 10 minutes. It was more than enough food for the three of us. read more

What a great BBQ place in Kingwood! We have heard about it from several friends, but just tried it yesterday. The service was excellent and the environment was warm and welcoming! Great location off of Kingwood drive, and fairly close to Hwy 59. We are pretty much BBQ snobs and this place definitely passed the test for us! Delicious Brisket! We will be regular customers. This was the MOST AMAZING BBQ I've EVER HAD!!! Everything is made from scratch every day other dry seasoning we met the owner. He gave us a sample of the smoked turkey, which was so ridiculously good. He gave us a piece of these chicken. Also, the brisket is so tender and I ordered the taco best thing I've ever had. They were also smoking brie wheels for a catering order. Everything we had was amazing. We will definitely be back. read more

The food is always good at Fire Craft but what happened to serving size? We spent $55.00 on meat only. We received 3 slices of brisket, 3 slices of turkey, 8 slices of sausage, and 4 ribs! We had just gone to Goode Company two days ago. Spent less and received 5 times the amount of food. We even had 4 sides and two drinks. Same thing at Gatlin's Barbecue. So much more meat and sides and drinks for less money. Maybe Fire Craft needs to train employees on correct service of meat or they are just holding back on customers. Too many barbecue places to make this mistake. read more

Visited this BBQ joint while in TX visiting friends. You order at the counter and they give you a number and they bring it to your table when its done. They have a large dining area inside however it was really warm and sticky inside. It didn't feel like the AC was even on. The iced tea and lemonade were really warm - even with a full cup of ice, my lemonade didn't actually get cold until I was done with it! As far as the food goes, we tried a few different meats and sides. The brisket was really good and so was the cheddar jalapeno sausage. I wasn't a fan of their ribs - very fatty. The sides were very generous portions! The mac and cheese was very rich and tasty and the jalapeno corn spoonbread was my favorite! The owner was very friendly - he offered us free samples while we waited to order and checked in on us a few times. I'd recommend this place to folks in the area. read more

Usually in a restaurant, there are selections I like, some not so much. But I honestly can't say that about Fire Craft BBQ. Literally, everything I ordered was better than I expected! The brisket was perfect, the mustard potato salad was great, and the cole slaw was outstanding! Friends complimented their selections as well: Cowboy tri cut, pulled pork, cornbread, and baked beans. The staff is outstanding as well... they must have dropped by the table 4 or 5 times to make sure everything was great and offer take home boxes. I've found my new favorite BBQ place! read more

Well, I just gave up after holding on the phone for 10 minutes for Savannah to make an order for pick up! I had ordered over the phone before and it took 3 minutes at that time to take my order, however when I got there to pick up, I was asked to get in line to pay and then it seems that they went to put my order together because it took 10 minutes after I paid to get it! The food was actually good! Today, I was planning on clarifying those delay issues when placing my order, but in light of the fact that they didn't come back on the phone, I think I'll give them longer to get their stuff together. Will have to drive a bit farther to Corkscrew BBQ for some quality BBQ! read more

I've followed David Welch's career in the Kingwood area for years. Now that he was opened a BBQ restaurant, I couldn't wait to try it. I wasn't disappointed. The Brisket is perfectly cooked. It is moist, juicy, and very flavorful. I had a sliced sandwich and the bun was amazing too. There is a table where you can get your own serving of sauce if you need some more, but the meat is so good you really don't need it. David is a very versatile Chef, and likes to try new things. Check his facebook page for delicious and different items he puts out daily. It was a pleasure of introducing my Canadian Chinese colleague to his first BBQ experience: sausage and brisket with sides of beans and watermelon salad. Wish I could have had the salad too, but his was the last serving. Tried ordering Jalapeño Corn spoon bread, but they'd run out. Instead, I had the terrible slaw. Was it supposed to have dressing? Other side was ok potato salad. Sausage was generic but generous helping. Of course brisket was the star of the show: Deliciously smoked and tender. Cannot say much about ambiance: very small space seats 12-16 guests. I was thrilled to find a table for two inside as there were unshaded outdoor tables. With Real Feel temperature approaching 100F, I would have taken my order to my car and cranked the AC to maximum while jamming to FM 107. Service was Texas Friendly: so Amazingly genuine you could cut it with a knife! read more

I been trying to try this place out because of the hype but it's all really a hype. The setup was bad. First we waited in line but kept having to move out the way because the only trash can there was right by where the line started. I had in mind that I wanted the turkey baked potato but when I tried a sample of the turkey I did not like it. It was the strangest cut I've ever seen, it had a fat layer around the turkey that was mushy and gross. Then I changed my mind that I wanted just a brisket potato but when I got to the counter the potatoes were all sold out. Then they offered the bowl but then told me the Mac and cheese were sold out. I really didn't think of a backup so they suggested the burger and I got that. To me that's super frustrating. I totally understand selling out, that's a good thing for the company but they really should figure out a way to let ppl know what's sold out before reaching the order counter. Ok, so the burger was actually really good, I honestly would go back just for that. The brisket itself was good, but you can tell it's not really wood smoked but more of a pellet. It was ok but I prefer the more woody taste. Now the sides... those were actually pretty fire. Loved the coleslaw, loved the beans and the potato salad. Overall, not a fan of the hype, not a fan of setup, staff was nice but the whole experience was just ok. read more

Kingwood is definitely fortunate to have a solid BBQ spot, this is a gem for sure. When you look at the area there aren't that many options to pick from especially BBQ. Walking in I already felt the warm welcome and smiles from the staff. The owner who was slicing the meats did a Michael Jordan/Kobe Bryant fist pump when he saw me, meaning he was grateful that more customers are walking in. I decided to order the two meat plate which comes with two sides as well. I choose the pork ribs, moist brisket & for my sides I got the Mac & Cheese, dirty rice with chicken & red beans with sausage. The brisket was good, it was tendered but I would've like more moist versus lean. I'm not sure if they trimmed the fat/skin properly before smoking it but it was a lot on where the bark is and made the texture less appealing. Smoke rings were inconsistent as well. Not the best brisket I've had but I was content with it. The pork ribs were huge and meaty. I prefer a dry rub to seasoned the ribs but I didn't get much of it. The dirty rice with chicken was just okay but it was cooked to perfection & the chicken wasn't dry. The Mac and Cheese was simple but I could eat it all day. They say there's no such thing as too much cheese but I have to kindly disagree because sometimes too much isn't good either. It was the perfect amount of cheese and the Mac was creamy & al dente. The red beans with sausage was solid served with good quality sausage however, a little too watery for me. I prefer some white rice to be in the mix since it has beans and sausage. Flavor wise the beans had a BBQ taste to it, not my favorite but not bad either. Overall, the food is decent but the service was fast and friendly. They really made me feel welcomed. The place is small with limited of seats on the inside & several tables outside as well. I did hear the owner informing another customer that they are expanding their restaurant to make it bigger and having more space. Fire craft BBQ has a lot of potential to be something special, so it's a good idea that they make the restaurant bigger to accommodate the amount of customers walking in and out. Will I come back? Sure will. Tip: their menu changes daily. I wanted to order the green beans but they said that they'll have it on the menu another day. So if you want something in particular, call the restaurant beforehand to see what they have on the menu for that day. Updated review: Came back for the 2nd time and ordered another two meat plate. I got the moist brisket, sausage, Mac and cheese and mash potatoes with gravy. This time around the brisket was perfection. It was tendered, easily to break apart, fatty & good bark. The sausage was good and cooked just right but would've like more spice to it. The mash potatoes were made from scratch and was solid. read more

In summary, their food is good, but their pos system and the 3% fee is a joke. I surely hope they fix this soon. 2 signs by the cash registers state a 3% fee is charged for credit card transactions, but not for cash or debit. Only one problem, it's still charging you for debit, and most customers won't even notice this since the amount is pretty small. When I noticed they charged me after handing them my card and saying I'm paying "with debit", they continued to try to prove me wrong and they didn't seem to know that both of their signs say no fee for debit cards. I had to point this out to the cashier. The review shouldn't be about complaining or their stupid fees, but it is about my experience. They ended up refunding me about 52 cents after I felt like I wasted my time to point out a problem on their end. Word of advice, just come in with cash!! I ordered the loaded potato with moist brisket, then even asked me what type brisket I wanted. The brisket was pretty dry, and I sent a photo of it to my friend and he agreed the brisket looked on the dry side. I just went ahead and ate it anyway since I was hungry. The potato was really good. I added 1/4 lb of sausage. Sausage is $22/lb on the menu, not sure how mine came out to be $7.13. Like I said, watch the prices they charge you like a hawk. Sausage was OK, not great if you're a sausage snob like me. The main reason I want was to try their banana pudding. Turns out they only had a spiced apple & English toffee the day I came. They say pudding is mainly Saturday. read more
