Best car buying experience I've ever had. If you're looking to buy a Mazda, this dealership is the one. My salesman was Grayson, and he's great. He had the car I was interested in already up front and ready for me to look at. He explained the car features thoroughly. I really appreciated how he wasn't pushy like some salesmen are. Super friendly and patient. If you come here to buy a car, ask for Grayson. read more

Sport Durst Mazda - 2025 Mazda CX-50 in Ingot Blue - Car Dealers Near Me - Durham, North Carolina

Horrible service, predatory selling practices, and a questionable review practice considering their Google reviews compared to their Yelp. Has owed me a key since I bought my car and have always had some excuse about the locksmith only being there certain days and would promise me a call back that never comes. Did this over 4 times now. read more

If I could give a negative star, I would. Our experience was extremely disappointing and frankly unsettling. The salesman who went by the name "Dame"? was aggressive and used intimidating tactics to get us to by a car. He was pushy and confrontational, walked around to other salesman to gossip that our expectations were unreasonable. (price match another dealership or at least come close) He refused to give a business card, and went as far as pretending to call the other dealership we had been to earlier, claiming he was speaking to the salesperson. That salesperson was not working, and the call was an act. He also stated he did not need to make this sale, as he was 3 sales away from his monthly quota. We went in to see if a car on the Durst lot was closer to what we were looking for within the same price range. ( consumer due diligence!!) As we were leaving, he continued to follow us out the door, throwing his hands in the air, and claiming we will not get a better deal anywhere else. We will never, ever, return to this dealership or any Sports Durst. read more

Giving two stars because Chris and Sean were genuinely nice to deal with and had good interactions. However, be weary of purchasing a used vehicle here due to the sales manager. Can't remember his name but he was horrible to deal with. Refused to give me a key for the tailgate and said that the salesman was going to have to pay for it out of his pocket. The manager wouldn't even reach back out with me to discuss this. The salesman was nice so I didn't want him to have to do that so now I am on the way to Key Harbor to get a new key. TLDR: Chris is great but make sure you really want the car they are selling. read more

"Taken for a 'Sport Durst Advantage' Ride" BLUF (Bottom Line Up Front): * Negotiated $3,000 off MSRP, then got additional $500 military discount = $3,500 total * Only got $1,727.07 actual discount - they owe me $1,772.93 * Hidden $986 "Sport Durst Advantage" fee wasn't even itemized * Finance misrepresented payoff amount to sell GAP insurance * Their response to my concerns? One free oil change. Seriously. Detailed Story: Leased a CX-90 PHEV in November 2024. Started with $10,000 in Mazda incentives ($7,500 EV credit, $2,000 lease cash, $500 military). After negotiating with Manager Corey Washington down to $3,000 off MSRP, I mentioned my military status and asked for another $1,000 off. He agreed to an additional $500 military discount, bringing total promised discount to $3,500. After 8+ hours at the dealership with my hungry family, approaching 10 PM, we finally got to the finance office. That's when the "Sport Durst Disadvantage" revealed itself: 1. Negotiated discount: $3,500 2. Actual discount: $1,727.07 3. Difference they owe me: $1,772.93 4. PLUS they hid a $986 "Sport Durst Advantage" fee in the base price But here's what really exposed everything: Called Mazda Financial 20 days later and discovered their deception. Finance had claimed I'd owe $56,771.75 if I totaled the car (monthly payments $670.37 x 35 = $23,462.95 + residual $33,308.80), pushing hard for GAP insurance. The actual payoff? About $49,000. They inflated the payoff amount by over $7,700 to sell me a bundled package of GAP insurance ($750) and wear/tear coverage ($299) when I was exhausted and just wanting to get my family home after 8+ hours at the dealership! The Good: * Salesman Rob Forsyth - knowledgeable * Vehicle itself is great * Mazda's incentives were legitimate The Bad: * Used military service as leverage when I was tired after 8+ hours * Kept my family there until almost 10 PM to pressure a same-day close * Hidden fees * Missing $1,772.93 from promised discount * Misrepresented payoff amount to sell GAP insurance * Bundled GAP ($750) and wear/tear ($299) together while pressuring sale at 10 PM * Had to cancel both through Mazda Financial since dealership wouldn't respond * Won't respond to concerns * One free oil change as "compensation" The Final Straw: When I finally got to speak with management about these issues, they wouldn't even acknowledge the missing $1,772.93 discount we agreed on. Instead of admitting the discrepancy and making it right, they offered a single free oil change. It was never about getting free services - it's about principle and honesty. They promised $3,500 off, didn't deliver, and won't even admit it. Why am I posting this now? Tax season is coming up. I don't want others, especially military families, getting their tax refunds and walking into the same trap. I lost time with my family, almost $1,800, and gained a lot of stress - but at least I can warn others. If you're thinking of shopping here, PLEASE remember: Sport Durst "Advantage" really means their advantage, not yours. I'm happy to share documentation showing exactly how they manipulated the numbers. SAVE YOUR TAX REFUND - GO ELSEWHERE! Had to cancel GAP and wear/tear through Mazda Financial because Sport Durst wouldn't even respond to my calls. P.S. More like "Sport Durst DISadvantage" - am I right? If you don't want to get taken for a ride like I did, feel free to reach out through Google Reviews. I'm happy to help walk you through any lease agreement so you can spot these tricks before signing. #VeteranWarning #CarDealershipTactics #CheckYourPaperwork #MilitaryDiscount #DontShopTired read more

Let me start with saying that I purchased a new Mazda here and it was awesome. My experience today was disappointing. My sales guy Norris Fletcher was great. He was quick with the paperwork. Finance was where we had issues. I was not taken in line in order and waited for 1.5 hours since there was only 1 finance person working. The general sales guy after having a discussion agreed for $400 off and then rescinded because I wouldn't buy the extended warranty. I would have walked but already started process. This dealership is understaffed and sucks the joy from the purchase. Do not recommend. read more

Went here for scheduled service on a CX-9 (just a simple oil change, tire rotation, and inspection). They recommended an additional $500 of maintenance, claiming it was past due. However, the Mazda manual clearly states these services aren't due for another 7,000 miles, so it was just a lie to upsell services. Service also took far longer than the quoted 1 hour. read more

Hearing good things about Sports Durst Mazda in Durham we decided to go there to get a used car, thinking that it would be a professional and trustworthy atmosphere being a certified dealership. We went with our own financing and only need the bill of sale for a specific car. Norris, the salesman who was working with us could not answer basic questions about the cars history such as a timing belt/chain. He never fully sat down and was preoccupied with other things as well as needing outside help. At one point he snatched the phone out of my wife's hand and disappeared for fifteen minutes. At the beginning of the conversation and throughout our experience there, we told them to not run our credit as we already had a loan and per our personal loan officer. He lied and said he needed our information for the title and bill of sale. Two minutes later my spouse and I both got notifications our credit had been run and because we have been comparing loans and cars we had already had a few credit checks to compare rates, so them running it without our consent had a huge impact on both of credits. When this was pointed out Norris brought out his supervisor Cory who was disrespectful from the jump. He began yelling at my wife and telling her to "shush" and "shut up". He lied saying they didn't run our credit but we had proof that they did, they even handed us the credit check they ran after denying they did so. After a string of condensing "shut ups" we got up and left. We called the manager of the auto park and explained what happened. We also pointed out that the timing belt/chain had never been changed which on a vehicle of that size is about a $2k job. He offered a $200 discount for our troubles, which in our opinion is a slap in the face. We went in today ready to buy but will never go back because they are rude and unprofessional. And quite frankly committed fraud by running our credit when told not to, which we will be reporting. Do not go here. read more

Walked out brought the dealership. 4 salesman were sitting at a desk talking. Interesting? No one greeted me. I went up to a managers desk and asked to see a MX 30. Where should I start? I think I will start with how I came to hear about Sport Durst Mazda. I heard about Cousin Kera from Melissa Wade in the Water's advertisements on The Light 103.9 radio station. I've always said when I get my next car, I plan to go see her. Over the past few years, I have been paying for some major car repairs. Over the past few weeks, several repair shops have even told me that I need more work done on my car. This past Wednesday night, I got to my breaking point. I was like "Enough is enough. I don't need to pay for any more repairs on my car. I just need to get another car". That's when I sent Cousin Kera a message explaining my situation. She told me to reach out to her assistant the next day. Once I got there, everyone welcomed me in! The customer service was beyond excellent and everyone that I spoke to was very helpful and attentive to my needs. I definitely received some above and beyond customer service from Carl Scotton! I was going to have to have someone take me back on Saturday to pick up my new car, but Carl was not hearing that! His solution: "Drive your new car home, I will come pick you up and take you back to the dealership to pick up your old car". I was beyond shocked and even made sure he was serious. I was extremely happy and appreciative that I would not have to wait 2 days to pick up my new ride! I also got to meet with Cousin Kera to discuss my credit score and report and how I could make it so much better. This was extremely helpful! She told me to make sure I stop by to see them when I go back for any service on my car. I also appreciated the fact that she wants to see how I'm doing with my credit score going forward! Who would've thought that a dealership would offer any advice on how to increase my credit score??? Carl Scotton, Cousin Kera, and the entire Sport Durst Mazda Team provides excellent customer service and I appreciate them all for their help! Job well done!!!! I definitely recommend going to see them because they have made this the easiest experience ever!!! read more

Sport's Durst Mazda is the only place I have ever had my car serviced. They have kept it running in perfect condition. When my car leaves the shop it runs like a dream. Any concerns I have are always addressed. I just wouldn't take my car anywhere elsewhwere read more

For weeks I received calls and emails claiming "we want to buy your car" and "pay up to 2K over competitors". I get my car serviced at Sport Durst Mazda regularly so they know what condition my car is in and the call center even remarked "during your last servicing we noted your car was in good condition for the year/mileage". I finally caved and scheduled a time to go in and have them appraise the trade-in value of the car only for the sales team to pull the old "bait-and-switch". All the sudden the car was in terrible shape and "we don't even want to buy it, were just going to sell it to a whole seller" and "the promotion we were running is no longer applicable". To be clear, my car is several years old and has a decent number of miles on it but it is still in fair condition aesthetically and in runs perfectly. I wasn't expecting a fortune for the car but their "cant be bothered" attitude coupled with the fact that they were the ones who had reached out to me in the first place did not sit well with me. The sales person was very disinterested once they realized I wasn't interested in buying an expensive new car and the manager was very rude when he injected himself into the conversation. Sport Durst's team were intentionally misleading in their lead-up communications and then tried to turn the tables to a pressured buying situation once I was in the door. The entire interaction in the dealership felt slimy and the staff did not seam trustworthy. I hate to reach this conclusion because I have genuinely had nothing but great help from their service department over the years, but I will not be giving them any of my business moving forward. read more

I was car shopping between a couple local Mazda dealerships, and ended up getting the best deal at Sport Durst. I had called them before I drove there to agree on the price first (wasn't going to drive 40 minutes just to haggle). They played games at first, but was able to meet me at my price point. So I drove to sign the papers/get the car. Our salesman was really sweet, but his manager seemed a bit rude, pushy, and insensitive. The manager snapped at our salesman a few times. I'm sure the job is stressful but it's free to be kind. What really ticked us off was that nobody was wearing a mask. This place was filled with men - both old and young - just walking around, talking, socializing, without a mask. The inside of this place is small, dirty, and crowded. I am so grateful I did my haggling over the phone, because I would have hated to be inside in this dealership for long. It took us a couple hours to get the paperwork straightened out, which made me nervous because I'm telling ya: I did not feel safe from covid-19 inside. Yuck yuck yuck. Added to the lack of safety precaution was the fact that it was just dirty inside. Everyone seemed sweaty, which was weird because it was October, the tables seemed dirty, the air was stuffy. They need to give that building some serious TLC. It was gross. I remarked to my husband that were I not getting a good deal, I would have just left. And in truth, I debated just leaving. I had a much better customer service experience at Mazda in Raleigh. I will not be back this dealership -- not even for service -- because it was THAT uncomfortable. I'd recommend you try to go your haggling over the phone to save you some time. 2 stars for the good deal, though. read more

Tried to buy a car here multiple times - nothing in stock, but they'd definitely find one - looking for CX9's and 6's, and they never found one. They hounded me relentlessly, and still didn't find what I was looking for. Bought a low mile 2018 Mazda 6 GTR from Southern States with no problem and no incessant phone calls. I just went for a spark plug change, and they wanted 350.00 - 30 minutes of labor and dealer price of 25.00 per plug would come out to roughly 200 bucks on the high end. Again, Southern States priced it at 240.00. Mazda need to up their dealer network significantly if they aspire to be a more premium brand. The second time they somehow put it in kilometers rather than miles and I had to take it back and then a week later lights came on with yet another sensor error. Incessant, incessant, incessant calling after filling out an e-quest for a price quote. They have a fully staffed call center that harasses people constantly. I've asked them to stop calling several times, even emailing a higher up, James Plessinger. I bought a new car there recently and the disconnect between the staff is tremendous. While I was in the finance office signing paperwork, the call center reps are calling and emailing me asking me when I am coming in to look at a new car! They continued attempting to call me three more times that day, even after I left the car lot with my new car. It gets better though, fast forward three days after the purchase and they are still hounding me to come in and look at a new car. Yeah, I can't make this sh*t up folks. I do like the oil change package they offer and the service folks have not been all that high pressure but, only on occasion. This is my second purchase from them and will be my last. I have mixed feelings about the deal I got. The finance rate was excellent and I owed a lot on my previous vehicle so that factored into the mix. At the end of the day, they are not your friends and they are running a business to make money. Keep that perspective and you'll get a good deal there...otherwise I do not recommend providing any means for them to contact you because they will harass the ever loving sh*t out of you. read more

We have lived in the Triangle area for over 20 years and we have NEVER bought a new car locally. The dealers would never budge on sticker price. Sport Diurst was different. Typical bait-and-switch with mandatory add-ons and captive financing rates, stay far-far away! As a veteran, I used my USAA benefits to get in touch with a dealer for a great deal and they sent me to this stealership. After a test drive and some email communication they claimed that they would beat the best price that I received by $500. I showed up today with my other price and the manager hemmed and hawed about fine print etc. When he would not beat my other quote, I produced an email from Sport Durst with a lower offer than what he was offering me. At first he mumbled something about how that was not an authorized price. He then said that I had to use their financing and that there was an additional $950 "accessory" package that was mandatory and that it was in the fine print. I asked him to show me this fine print in the email and he could not find it. I was ready to walk out and he finally said that he would honor the price that they quoted me via email. Really? Is it now optional to honor your written contract? But, they said I had to use the Mazda financing but they would keep the incentives. Their financing was three points higher than USAA and the pricing they used put their price over $3k over their closest competitor if I did not use their financing. When I told them, in no uncertain terms, that would not work for me and is not in line with their low price "guarantee" as it is actually $3,200 over the next lowest out-the-door price, they brought out a finance guy to do some creative accounting and show how if the numbers are shifted around and you squint just so, it is not that much more expensive. At this point, my wife and I are incredulous. We both have multiple master's degrees (mine are in business) and we cannot believe that a major Mazda dealer is trying to pull an old-fashioned bait-and-switch. I think because we are Hispanic and young they felt that this would work on us. Sorry, my wife graduated Summa cum laude from Columbia University and we are not falling for that. The sales manager was then very rude and essentially showed us the door. The sales man on the other hand was polite and the issue here was management not the sales personnel. We expected to drive home in our new vehicle as we had showed up with a pre-negotiated price that management refused to honor once we were there. In summary, this is a terrible dealership that should not be in partnership with USAA as they obviously do not honor their own word, much less our veterans. Their predatory sales style attempts to prey on minorities and people of color that they assume are ignorant of simple math. Not only did they lose my business, but I will never service my vehicle there nor will I purchase my KTM, that I had planned for this spring, from their sister power sports dealership. Do yourself a favor and go anywhere but here. read more
