First time there and it was fantastic! Very nice decor inside with 90s R&B music videos playing. Staff was very friendly and attentive and food was delicious. We ordered 2 different kinds of ramen, a pork belly bao, and a side of kimchi (which they gave to us complimentary). The service was friendly and efficient, refilling our water and checking in on us often without hovering. They also gave us some complimentary Yuzu/Citron tea since it was a cold day. The cooks are authentic and the service was outstanding as this is a fusion of Asian foods (Korean and Japanese). We tried the short ribs, bulgogi, pan fried pork dumplings, both spicy & regular wings, scallion seafood pancake, Kim chi fried rice, strawberry soju, daeGung bae premium soju as we all need some happy juice with the tasty food. And their deserts - green tea cheese cake, some French desert and the assorted mochi. The green tea cheesecake you can do without but the rest of the listed foods we tried was spot on. Want a new experience that is a winner? We'll, maybe for some of you, it might not be new, but to me it most definitely was. I've caught a few Korean videos called Mukbang. This seems to be the thing in South Korea. It's people eating tremendous amounts of food. One such person stood out to me. A tiny slim woman named Hamzy, who cooks many many dishes, then proceeds to polish them off. She makes the food look amazing, and while I've never been a fan of Korean food, hers inspired me to try it. So, tonight my very indulgent husband and I went to Spoonsticks on MerrickRoad in Massapequa. I didn't even know this restaurant existed, yet there it was, so pretty, tucked away just east of Tai Chow, which we have frequented. If I've inspired your adventurous spirit or curiosity, you must go and have the LA Galbi! OMG! It was to die for! Thin strips of short ribs cut into what I call flanken strips, marinated then grilled. It was served with kimchi and sticky rice. I've always been afraid to try kimchi, since someone told me once that it was very spicy! Boy, were they wrong!! That person owes me twenty years of not having the delicious dish. The meat was sweet, tender, and all around excellent. On the plate was asparagus, oyster mushroom and caramelized onions. Did I say it was delicious? My husband, not as daring as I had the onion ramen soup, chock full of noodles and good things! He helped himself to my galbi and swears he's coming back just for that. He also drank half of my brown sugar bubble milk, a drink I've been dying to try as well. All in all, I felt like Stanley, exploring darkest Africa with all my new experiences. Try Spoonsticks. The food is good. My issue with the place is they don't understand customer service. They close at 9 o'clock. We came in at 8:30 and we were told we close at 9 o'clock. When I had asked if we would be thrown out at 9 o'clock, they responded yes. I'm not new to going to restaurants, but I've never been asked to leave a restaurant, nor have I ever thrown anybody out if it was our past our closing time. The restaurant business is not one. I've considered making a Yelp account on a few occasions for many, many years. I'd been having a stressful week and all I could feel for the past 3 days was rage. No amount of positive thinking could calm me down. It was enough of a problem that I decided I needed to get a massage right away. Price tag? $250. It was so bad that I left angrier than I came in. I was hungry and you're supposed to hydrate after after a massage so I decided on Ramen (whether or not this is practical is besides the point). I've eaten quite a decent amount of ramen in my life, from quite a few places bar Japan. In fact, I go out of my way to eat ramen whenever I get the opportunity just so that I can keep track of the best I've had. The ramen here did more for my mental state than can ever be said. I came here with my boyfriend for dinner to satisfy a craving for Korean food. We got the Spicy Bok Choy Kimchi Salad to start. I really enjoyed it. The gochujang sauce here was very tasty and not overly spicy, but flavorful. I got the Cheese Tteokbokki for my meal. It was pretty decent, the rice cakes themselves were good and the texture was great. The meat was also cooked well and the flavor of the broth was nice. However the cheese on top was just shredded cheese and it did not seem like it fit with the dish. My boyfriend got the Beef Bulgogi and he really enjoyed it and said it was a good sized portion. This place is a hidden gem ! The store just recently opened and me and my two friends decided to give it a try ! It was a little long wait for a table but thats understandable due to the pandemic. The made sure to do right by us and offered us some delicious drinks on the house ! The staff were very accommodating and kind. They made sure to check on us an ensure we were enjoying ours meals. Was looking for new Asian places to try in Long Island. Saw this when I was getting All-American and decided to pop in next time I'm buying lunch. When I went in it was a nice atmosphere that suggested the food I'm eating might be authentic, but I still had my doubts. I genuinely have never had Asian food this good anywhere in Long Island. Especially Korean food! I used to have to drive to Flushing to get this degree of Korean food, but not anymore! I've come back multiple times and have never gotten an item I didn't love! The wings and Bulgogi Bibimbap were my two favorites. Will warn you about two things however; parking is hard to find in the parking lot on busy nights and the price's are a bit high compared to other Asian places around. As ex-long time residents of NYC and the West Coast now living in Nassau County, we were thrilled to see this Korean-Japanese mashup open in our neighborhood. The food is great with the usual Korean suspects all executed very well--bibimbap, mandoo, jeon. Super-crunchy, spicy, sticky fried chicken takes me back to K-Town. Ramen is tasty, with some interesting preparations outside of the usual ubiquitous tonkatsu--broths are based on oxtail, mushroom, chicken--excited to try them all. Decor is fun, though a bit distracting to have Taylor Swift videos playing on a large TV over the bar. The service though--is incredible. The staff and owners are extremely committed to ensuring their guests are having a good time. They always go out of their way to do something for my 5 year-old--a sweet treat, an off-menu item, etc. (It's her favorite restaurant). Go and support this independent restaurant so they can succeed and hopefully more restaurants like Spoonsticks will come to our town instead of the usual chain garbage. read more

This review will be odd because I haven't tried their food yet. But I wanted to speak for the kindness they showed us and that speaks alot about what type of business they are. My husband and I moved from Las Vegas to Suffolk county in Long Island. Where we are from, there is so much variety within a close vicinity to our home. However here, we don't have that option. We were so excited to find out (through tiktok) that there was Korean food available in long island. We placed a large order to try it out and drove out to pick it up. Unfortunately on the way there we got into an accident on the southern state. While waiting for the tow I called the restaurant. I didn't get a name but the girl on the phone was kind when I explained that I wasn't going to be able to make it there before they close at 3. They had no obligation to help me but seeing as our day took a turn I thought there would be no harm to see if they could either refund me or offer store credit. I started with asking them to hold it in case we could make out there but eventually let them know that we couldn't. I kinda left it there and figured Ill just take an L. Tried this place for the first time tonight and it was absolutely amazing! Proper social distancing, super cute restaurant, kind and attentive staff! Parking was not an issue. Ramen, pork buns, garlic chicken wings, dumplings, short ribs, and bipbam blah blah bla rice was outstanding (don't remember exact name but crispy rice with veggies) out of this world!
