Jalapeño Yellowtail 12-15-2024
Christina J.

Small Homey spot. I love these kinds of places. There was nothing to not like. I was out for a birthday dinner for my dad's wife, so it was just the three of us. We had a great time and the food was delicious. Everything we ordered from my roti canai to the fried oysters and the sushi we had were impeccable. Good Stuff! 12-15-2024

This is a small sushi & Asian fusion restaurant that's big on food and hospitality.I had the jalapeno yellowtail for an appetizer and it was the best I've ever had, everything was fresh and prepared to perfection. wifey had the spider roll and said it was bursting with flavor. the waitress we had made sure we had everything we needed and that we was enjoying our food. To top it off the owner gave us a free bottle of sake to take home as a gift. We will definitely be visiting this place again to try out more things on there menu.

For Valentine's day they gave me a free rose and little box of chocolates with my order its one thing to be a place that makes genuinely good sushi but they go the extra step for there customers and show they care, highly recommend this spot and i never really leave reviews

The Love Boat Sushi

Kind of off the beaten path. The outside looked more like a Chinese take out. Even my girlfriend exclaimed, "do they have dine in?" Rest assured, they do! Small establishment. Covid protocol was followed. We rang a bell outside the main entrance to announce our arrival. Hand sanitizer was available. Masks were worn upon entry and removed upon sitting. Staff all wore masks. We ordered the steamed Shumai as an appetizer. Only 4 and small but delicious nonetheless! Ordered. Creamy saki for my beverage and girl friend ordered glass of Sauvignon Blanc. I loved my choice. Girlfriend wasn't impressed with her. Ordered the Love Boat Sushi. It was an assortment of Sushi and sashimi including the Tuna Love roll (spicy tuna inside with pepper tuna avocado on top with sweet chili saucy) and the What A Roll (shrimp tempura jalapeño avocado crab on top). The presentation was beautiful. Everything was delicious. Our total bill was $109.00. The Love Boat was $63 and worth it considering my girlfriend and I would have ordered two rolls apiece and they averaged on about $15 each. Would definitely stop in again!

salmon was served with the skin still on...disgusting! i refuse to eat fish here ever again as they really showed how poor quality their service is based on the fact that they felt okay leaving this on a plate. it's also quite expensive given the quality of their fish.

It's a small place but they do have private rooms to eat and do very well with pickup & delivery.I enjoyed all my rolls and will certainly be back with a more in depth review!

This is a basic Long Island sushi place, I think they are Chinese. The sushi was fresh but tasteless. It's ok but I wouldn't go back.

A bit surprised to walk in on Tuesday night to see the restaurant sparsely empty. Thinking and hoping maybe it was just because of freezing outdoor temperatures keeping folks home. Although highly recommending to venture out and allow the warmth of this cozy dining room of this location to wrap you warm inside and out. The service from all hostess, waitress, chefs in kitchen and at sushi bar super kind, patient and helpful, from start to finish of our wonderful meal. For the visit the Mr and I ordered tea to warm us back up right away. Ordered their Scallion pancake appetizer because it's always a solid choice just about anywhere you go, here included. They came out warm, crispy exterior with soft moist interior, accompanied by a sweet dumpling sauce. The kitchen chef was even so kind to bring us a complimentary small dish of edamame to munch on while we waited for him to whip up the Scallion Pancakes ~ Thanks! Then came the hot wonton soup that my Mr ordered and so nicely shared with me. Thankful he did as he knows his Mrs was eyeballing it contemplating if it was going to take me over the top. Let's just say the softest, silkyist, freshest flavored pork wontons we have had. Followed this up with Butterfly and CEO rolls that were absolutely fresh and delicious. Happy to highly recommend this location to all.

Hi fellow Yelpers! It's been a minute since I have done the review thing on here, and I'm actually…read moreshocked and dismayed (dramatic, I know), that I NEVER wrote a glowing review for my favorite restaurant ever -- Kotobuki, which is nestled in the heart of Babylon Village. (I'm pretty sure my profile photo is me at Kotobuki, FYI.) I was recently there celebrating an anniversary dinner, and there was no time like the present to eat half my body weight in super delicious sushi. I can gush about this place over and over, and throughout the years, I have sampled so much of what Kotobuki does best on Long Island -- fresh sashimi, delectable nigiri, and beloved sushi rolls. (This place definitely has lots of history for me, so it's a nostalgic spot as well!) We started out with an appetizer of the most incredible spicy tuna crispy rice (the best version of this I've had), and then we gorged on the sushi platter for 2. Think smooth sashimi, silky nigiri, special rolls, and little decadent touches that come with this platter, too, like the salmon carpaccio, kani salad, and my personal FAVE, the fried oysters in this garlic butter miso broth. (I need this oyster broth daily.) There's a reason why Kotobuki is always a go-to for special occasions, or even nights out when we order small from the sushi bar (their toro is a dream) and simply want the best Japanese cuisine on Long Island.

Online ordering was available which is always great and food was ready in the time promised. Ramen broth came separate as it was for take out and the spicy miso looked nice and creamy. The owner actually recognizes us when we come in, which always makes it feel really welcoming and personal. That kind of hospitality is rare and you can tell they genuinely care about their customers. The staff is always friendly, attentive, and quick to help with anything we need, so every visit feels easy and enjoyable. The place is small, but its a cozy environment. The ramen is also consistently amazing. You can tell a lot of care goes into the broth and ingredients. One of my favorites is the tonkotsu ramen. It takes a couple of minutes for them to prepare the dishes, but everything is made to order. The broth is rich, creamy, and packed with flavor--exactly what you want in a good tonkotsu. The noodles have the perfect texture and the toppings always taste fresh. It's one of those bowls that's comforting from the first bite to the last. The miso ramen is another favorite. It has a bold, savory flavor and that warm, hearty taste that really hits the spot when you're craving ramen. And just like the tonkotsu, it's always consistent, which is a big reason we keep coming back. We've also tried the teriyaki chicken and it's really good too. It's tender, flavorful, and the sauce has that perfect sweet and savory balance. It's great alongside ramen or even on its own. Between the delicious food, the consistently great ramen, and the welcoming service, this has easily become one of our favorite spots. The fact that the owner recognizes us makes it feel less like just another restaurant and more like a place we're always happy to come back to. If you're looking for great ramen and really friendly service, I definitely recommend checking it out.

It is so impressive how consistent they have been all of these years, it's so comforting to know that I will always have a place to get a warm, delicious bowl of ramen nearby. Everything on their menu is exquisite, the chicken wings are actually insane with how crunchy and flavorful they are. My go to is the garlic soy sauce flavor as my family doesn't like too much spice, but the extra dipping sauces on the side provide the perfect amount of heat if you do crave a little kick. Their fried rice is flavorful and I love to customize it with their beef bulgogi! Something to also try is their pork buns as they put the most tender pieces of pork inside of a soft pillowy bun! The ramen is the true star of the show, as I've never had a more flavorful tonkatsu broth anywhere else, and the portions are massive so I always end up with extra for lunch the next day (or a late night bowl haha). The servers are always sweet and helpful, and they are always playing K-pop in the background usually with a lyric video or even a dancing video which is always entertaining. The parking lot is quite small though, but you can always park around the block and just walk over! If you are anywhere near the south shore I am begging you to check out Spoonsticks!

We often come by this way on a Sunday morning and I realized why we hadn't tried Kokyou before and it's because they don't open until 2pm on Sundays, but on this Saturday, we came in just in time for lunch. The interior is very bright, neat and clean and we're seated in a middle table. Bamboo chopsticks are set on the table and they seem more elegant without the disposable paper wrapper. The picture menu gets your appetite going. I was looking for Ika Geso, but they don't have it on the menu, so we settled for Chicken Karaage, which was pretty good. The fried chicken chunks came out hot & crunchy and dusted with spicy shichimi. Soon, our deep bowls of ramen arrived. My BIL's Seafood Ramen had plenty of shrimp, scallops & a couple of mussels on the half shell in a dark soy chicken broth. My wife's Kalbi Ramen had chunks of beef short rib in a spicy pork & beef broth. My Gyuniku Ramen had slices of braised beef shank in a rich beef broth with plenty of baby bok choy. All bowls had a half soft boiled egg and corn niblets. I drained my bowl down to the bottom. I really want to come back to try the Donburi and I know I want the Curry Chicken Katsu over rice the next time we're out this way.
