I had a memorable Valentine's Day dinner here. Recently-seated diners were made to feel at home with some towels to cleanse their hands and some sesame noodles to whet their appetite. The service was accommodating and quick. Hands down, Kotobuki wins for one of the best places to go for some fresh, authentic and creatively-prepared sushi. I had the Crazy Salmon hand roll--my go-to order here for over 15 years. Today all women were presented with a single red rose after dinner. Good, clean, sushi spot in the village of babylon. Came here for dinner on a Saturday, and even though it was crowded, we still got a table rather fast. For an appetizer, we got K-Mac Sliders, which were delicious and probably the best thing of the night. For dinner, we got a chirashi platter, which, was very nice and featured some great fish. They don't list what your getting, which is a little annoying, but the fish was good and fresh. Service was good, and the ambiance is rather basic, but nice. read more

I have been wanting to come here for over 20 years, since I moved out to LI. I'm not sure why I never came. I guess it's because I didn't think I could get in, knowing that it's very popular and packed. So I came at 12 Noon and this is a great time. It was so delightful it was a top notch experience from beginning to end. I ordered a popular appetizer called, "Spicy Tuna Pizza". It was so delicious. They take sushi rice and put it between two pieces of seaweed and then deep fry it. They then top it with tuna and crabmeat. The "crust" is very thin and crispy, hence the pizza name. Creative play on textures and who doesn't love pizza?! I would order again. Then I had the, "Carnival Roll" which was made with tuna, jalapeño, pickled onion and some other stuff I can't remember. Very fresh. I was torn between this roll and the Grinch. I was happy with my decision but I would definitely want to come back to try the Grinch roll, and so many other items too. There are so many interesting rolls and a wide variety of everything from which to choose, not just sushi and sashimi. My dining partner had the oysters in garlic appetizer. OMG. I do not even like oysters at all but the waiter suggested I try it and am I glad I did! They was lightly fried and cooked to perfection. They were not slimy or tough, The two textures I've ever had trying oysters. So when I fit into an oyster, I was shocked. It was almost creamy. And then they sit in an oyster shell in a beautiful garlic sauce. I am a convert and may only eat oysters here. The service was great and I love the decor, with its minimalist Japanese sensibility. OK, I guess by now you can tell I really liked this place. I now know why it was named the number one restaurant on Long Island for many many years, back when there was no Yelp and Zagats was how we found out where to get good eats. read more

Came to this location ( Babylon ) to try it out. Like the one in Smithtown but it was a bit far from where I was coming from. The sign was a little hard to see since it was dark but you're at the right place if you see the black awnings atop the windows. Got to the restaurant at around 6:15pm and there was ample seating available. So glad we didn't have to wait at all. It did get pretty full soon after. Service was fine and our waiter was friendly and attentive. Came around often to fill our teas and water glasses. Very helpful when asking for suggestions. Highly recommend the sushi pizza as an appetizer! It had a crunchy crust made of rice and seaweed. The topping was really delicious! Because it was cold outside, one of us ordered an udon soup bowl with chicken. We didn't realize how big the order was otherwise we would not have ordered more food. We shared it and still had leftovers. So we had it wrapped for take home. Our second entree was a combo of 2 rolls (Caterpillar and Crazy ). The avocado topping was fresh and plentiful so it was very filling. All of the food were very fresh and tasty. Will return when I get a chance. The go-to sushi spot in my area. Their sushi is always the freshest!! There's never a long wait. Once seated they bring you warm towels to clean your hands and delicious complimentary cold sesame noodles. Their menu is pretty extensive from apps to cocktails. Lots of different dishes to try and always new rolls. Just took my daughter here for a date night and she loved it as well. It is a small place so expect to be seated very close to the table next to you but it's very clean and the staff is always very friendly and gives great attentive service. customer beware! went on a tues. night, place was busy. there was no air conditioning on and it was SUPER HOT INSIDE. asked for the ac tobe turned up to no avail. having a allergy to tuna asked for tuna to be substituted for salmon. SERVICE was Super slow with our order. when my rolls came all had tuna on them! asked for the tuna to be replaced again. tuna was replaced but i know that they only remove the tuna and replaced with salman because i got a reaction from the rolls. thank god i had my epi pen with me. went into the bathroom to use it . asked to ice at one point and my date had to go up to the hostess to get a glass of ice. I alway get the tuna or the Salmon Carpaccio. It's outstanding. For rolls i get a crazy salmon or crazy tuna roll as well as tuna or salmon carpaccio roll. Food is great, but order it in the restaurant. Two bad takeout opportunities in a row. The last time we ordered online, got a text from the restaurant telling us when to pick up the order, only to find that they had no order, because they turned off their online ordering system. My credit card was charged though. So I had to wait 40 minutes late on a Sunday night for them to put my order together. They had no concept of customer satisfaction. Not a single apology. I have been going here for years and always considered It the best sushi around however this is now the second time I ordered out from them and the quality has gone down the drain. Sushi Lovers!!! This place is calling your name!! It was my first time at Kotobuki. This Babylon location is a bit of a drive away for me (an hour away to be exact) but let me tell you... I'd probably even drive two hours to come to this place!! Lol The first thing that I absolutely need to talk about is the "Spicy Tuna Pizza"!!! It's an appetizer. But that dish was sooooo good that I had to add an order of it for my main course as well (don't judge me). I'm a sucker for shredded crab salad and this hit the spot like nothing before. It's a must try!! Okay, now that the most important thing is out the way, I can talk about the rest of my experience. Anything that you plan to order is SUPER FRESH, and that is a major deal breaker when it comes to sushi. It was a very clean and quiet setting. Our server KEVIN made a long lasting impression on us. I love this place so much I almost wish I never found it, cause now I can't get enough. The place is a little hard to find because there isn't a huge sign outside, so look for black awnings. I hear it gets PACKED. We got here right when they opened, and towards the end of our meal every table was filled. So call before hand and make a reservation. Food: I understand why so many people love it here. Every roll we had was amazing, but my obsession here is the Spicy Tuna PIZZA SUSHI APP. It has crab all over the top, warm crunchy on the bottom, it is fantastic. After finishing one, we ordered another. Should have got one to go lol.
