We came really at the wrong time. I didn't realize they close at 3-3:30 and reopen at 4. We were informed we'd only have 1/2 an hour to eat. This is a cool place to go for sushi. Sushi. Had a great time at Fancy Lee on recent Friday night ! Set up in the old diner right on Montauk Highway right before you get into Babylon village for west to east. Because of the location, parking isn't near as congested as places in the heart of the village. We were seated fast as it was sorta late, around 9:30, great waiter took our drink order and we're immediately served a free app, a fried sushi roll with crab, not too bad. Place still had a good crowd, but not too loud. About 3 guys behind the sushi bar working fast, like beavers with a broken dam. We were quick to order our sushi, she got a sweet potato roll and a mango roll. I ordered a salmon skin roll, some mackerel and egg omelet sushi and a pressed tuna roll. All the sushi was very good.....but what I liked best about Fancy Lee, is the passion, the owner had.....you can tell he has his heart and soul in giving his customers some quality sushi and a great dining experience. read more

I was in the area and decided to grab dinner at Fancy Lee. Staff was very friendly. I ordered from the cold appetizer menu the Filet Mignon Tatak which at most places is typically like a carpaccio/tartare item. Cold and on the rare side. What I got was a hot almost almost well piece of steak. I asked the waiter why it was so hot . I was told from the sear. Also grabbed chicken lo men it was a traditional lo mein & Chicken and broccoli , decent portion. For what I paid, I would prefer the another local spot for a lot less. I would say I would come back for sushi but I'm not confident in the food allergy precautions. The sushi was very tasty and fresh. I got a shiitake cucumber roll and it turned to be one of my favorite vegetable rolls I ever gotten. My friend got the spicy crunchy tuna roll and loved it as well. We both had a strawberry mojito which was also very tasty. My issue is the ambiance as well as the pineapple dessert. Great and quick place to stop and get sushi! There is parking on the side and metered parking around too. We started off with some strawberry and coconut mojitos, both delicious and dangerous! If I didn't have anywhere to go, I'd have two. For lunch we decided to try the combo B rolls: spicy tuna, eel roll, salmon and avacado. We also had the California, shrimp rock, and shrimp tempura roll. All fish taste fresh and not too fishy! The ginger tasted just right and rolls were all fresh. I can't understand how this place stays open. Something about "diner sushi" should have tipped me off, but I was desperate for sushi and my usual spots were closed. From the get go I knew it was a mistake. My shoes stuck to the floor like an old movie theater. The ambiance definitely leans more toward barebones diner aesthetics with just a veneer of vaguely Asian decorations. This is not a deal breaker for me, but it wasn't helping things. I had to use the bathroom and this was the second red flag. It smelled strongly of piss. It also lacked a proper doorknob, with only a deadbolt if you cared for privacy. The food was not good. The appetizer that was served complimentary was tasty, but very greasy. The spring roll was too oily as well -- like it was fried at too low a temperature. We got Sushi and Sashimi for 2. It wasn't inedible, but it was definitely in the bottom quartile of sushi I've had in my life. Some of the fish was still frozen and others were just tough. On the way home everyone's stomach hurt. I'd attribute it to the greasy appetizer. We won't be going back. read more

Fancy Lee is located on Main Street in Babylon Village, and if you're not sure what you're looking for you may just drive past it. Located in what was definitely an old diner, the inside does not match the décor of what you'd expect from the outside. I've had several locals tell me that they would never expect there to be a great sushi place located there. What sets Fancy Lee apart from the rest is their service. I've come here at least half a dozen times and the staff is always very attentive, and the food is fresh. If you choose to dine it, they give you a complimentary appetizer that appears to be crab tempura with a creamy sauce (it definitely tastes better than how I'm describing it). Fancy Lee offers several types of Asian cuisine including Japanese, Chinese and Thai dishes. Although I love sushi, nothing turns me off quicker than when the sushi has a strong aroma of fish, which is something I've never had to encounter while dining at Fancy Lee and is definitely why I'm willing to drive out of my way to get take out there. Fancy Lee's prices are also on par with what you'd expect for the quality of the cuisine. Very fresh sushi and enjoyed my meal delivery from this place. First time trying this as I wanted to compare with my usual go-to sushi place closer to me. Overall it appears that Fancy Lee is about $1 or $2 higher priced for most dishes as compared to other good/mid tiered establishments but I must say they offer more choices on the menu. Ordered fried oysters appetizer, salmon skin roll and yellowtail scallion roll. Fish very fresh, tender and well put together. Also pleasantly surprised the appetizer was served on a nice little salad bed (helps keep it crisp) :) oysters were also juicy inside with crisp not overly oily shell. Overall would definitely recommend this place if you're in the area. As for my delivery needs, I think I will mostly stick with my regular go-to restaurant closer to me as it's free delivery, a bit lower in price with similar seafood quality as this. This place is pretty deceiving. It looks like a diner from the outside. Inside is up-to-date. There is usually a wait and I'm not sure if they take reservations. At my last visit we enjoyed miso sea bass. It is served over black rice. It has a sweet background taste that is to die for. I have been getting sashimi instead of rolls from there. This place has been a staple in the village for a long time and we always refer to it as the Chinese diner but I finally made it here for lunch on a Sunday afternoon...we were door busters and so were a lot of others! Service was very quick and staff was friendly. They give some kind of seafood app for the table, it was good but not much flavor and I'm not sure what it was. I got a sweet potato tempura roll and orange chicken with brown rice and my bf got broccoli and rice in brown sauce and low mein and we split edamame...the portions were HUGE, I got 3 meals out of mine. I was a long time customer of Fancy Lee. I would go 2 to 3 times a month for dinner with my family .we never had a bad experience. But then covid hit ... since then we have stopped in on the was home from out east . And the first thing that hits youbis the dirty mildew smell. Also thebwalls in the back dinning room are filthy. So this week end we went agai and we where met with the same smell. And we noticed the the menu has dramatically changed and is smaller . We are not happy with the new changes and the fact that the smell of mildew and mold hits you in the face as soon as you walk in. One of the best sushi spots in Babylon Village. The staff was gracious and very attentive. The fancy lee appetizer they give you (for free) is absolutely delicious! The food is always extremely fresh. As an appetizer I had the Treasure Island which was three different types of fresh cut fish with a house sauce over a bed of spiraled cucumber (highly recommend). For the entree I had a Ganga roll, it was the perfect blend of crunch and savory flavors. My sister enjoyed her all time favorite black'n'pink roll. Both rolls pictured below.
