54 minutes ago New Started going here 25 years ago it used to be goo. Not anymore. Had such a bad experience there, I went to do a review. Guess what? I did a review of their horrible service 3 years ago. Some things dont change. So I deleted that so I could vent once again. (Only 1 review per person apparently) I purchased a 20 dollar lomein to go this warm evening. while I was waiting for it, the never smiling lady, Joanne, was at the front wait area. I asked her for a glass of water while I waited. She said you need to pay. I chuckled, she did not. I said, no not a bottle, from the gun as i pointed to the water soda gun. She said yes I know you need to pay! THIS PLACE SUCKS. She then said next time you pay and handed me a glass 1/3 filled with no ice. Mind you, it is all right in front of her, glasses ice soda and beer. I said no thanks, keep it. I got my overpriced greasy lomein and went home. I paid 7 dollars for extra beef because mushroom is historically miserly with protein.. It had 9, 1/8 inch by 1.5 inch pieces of beef in it. The noodle were mushy and it was loaded with grease. I only go there because they are the only local place open after 9. Go to Hong Kong chinese food in the same parking lot for takeout. Their pieces of protein are mush larger and you do not need to order extra, but they close at 9 Hong Kong is also 50% less than Mushroom and they smile. Mushroom is supposed to be the upscale place. (Staff/Service Review; Food is fine) Went in on Monday to place an order for sushi and forgot my wallet. Didn't realize until Thursday. I went back and asked a worker if they had it; they claimed to look in the lost and found in the back, and said it wasn't there. Luckily, I had a tracker and was able to confirm it was stuffed in a cabinet behind the front desk. When I got it back, all of the the cash that was in there (at least $80) had mysteriously disappeared, yet the tip jar had quite a few $20s. Whether this business took my cash or not, I will not be coming back for the simple fact that they would have sent me on my way without my wallet knowing they had it. read more

We have been coming to Mushroom on Montauk Highway for probably 20 years - I can't remember! The service is typically fabulous! They are always friendly and remember us. And the food? Consistently top notch. I have literally never had a bad meal there. My go-tos if I'm not having sushi are usually chicken chow mein or pad Thai, or steamed shrimp with vegetables. They do all the Chinese classics and their pineapple fried rice is amazing! For lunch, the lunchbox is just enough food at a great price! It's perfect if we want sushi appetizers and then a Chinese main course, or if some of us want sushi. We have also been there for hibachi and it's always a fantastic experience. We've seen the spot renovated a few times - fresh paint and seat covers. The current maroon walls are very classy and give a quiet ambiance to the room. It almost seems odd to have televisions on -- without them the restaurant would seem fancier. Still the prices are affordable, making it perfect for a weeknight dinner. read more

Great food, excellent service and all around great experience. The portions are huge as well as their prices. We ordered sesame chicken with white meat and a side of pork fried rice. Everything was cooked to perfection great taste, rice off the charts delicious. Crab Rangoon's were jam packed full of cheese and goodness. The restaurant is super clean and nicely decorated. One downfall is that when you order a soda it comes full of ice in a rather small glass and they offer no free refills. But they do refill your water which was super cold and great tasting. read more

Located about on half hour west of my domicile, this Chinese and Japanese fusion restaurant makes one of the tastiest salt and pepper shrimp on the Island. Very few restaurants make it. Just look at how it is presented by viewing the photos below. It tastes even better than it looks. The recipe for this Cantonese dish is simple: shrimp, salt, pepper, cornstarch, scallions, garlic and red pepper flakes. Sichuan peppercorns are called for in Chinese cooking sites, but some restaurants use white pepper instead. Some cooks toast the salt/pepper mixture for heartier flavor. My two friends and I visited Mushroom on a whim the other night because we were hungry and wanted to avoid the Saturday rush elsewhere. The food was great--really no complaints here. Hibachi is always fun and the food was tasty. I feel like it's hard to go wrong with noodles, steak, and/or chicken hibachi--all of which tasted fresh. They even gave us extra food when there was some left over! I enjoyed the authenticity of this place the most. I always look out for TsingTao beer which is very hard to find in the area. When I saw that on the menu I knew it was a wrap. Tsingtao is my favorite beer of all time and I knew I was gonna love this place after that. read more

A friend and I came in here to sit and eat because the food looked good, and everything was fine until it came time to pay. A man who was not our server came over to charge us and when we had paid, he asked for more tip. We had tipped 10% which isn't a tremendous amount, but it was what we felt appropriate and what we could afford after the expensive food. He urged us to give a bigger tip loudly for the rest of the people to hear, and it was a negative and uncomfortable experience. I don't know why he decided to treat us this way, but judging from other reviews they have treated others similarly. Everything was delicious from Sushi to chicken teriyaki! Everything was fresh! Service was quick and assertive! Deff would come again!

Went back today after not going in years. The food and service were excellent. The waiter was attentive and pleasant. We ordered the general TSO chicken, crab rangoons, squid salad, some sushi, lo mein and sweet and sour chicken. Everything was really tasty and the portions were good, even for the items we had ordered off the lunch menu. We will definitely go back when we're in the area and feel like Chinese. read more

I need to take a moment to share my appreciation for the staff at Mushroom. We came with two toddlers for hibachi and they were very patient and helpful with them. Chef Kevin was super nice and engaging with the kids and the hostess was perceptive to bring ice cream for the kids when they got fidgety so we, the parents, could actually enjoy our dinner. There aren't many places that are family friendly. We appreciated their efforts to make our dining experience enjoyable for all. Also, the salmon hibachi was great! Looking forward to coming back. Mushroom ..Montauk Hwy West Babylon I've seen reviews and trust me things have changed. Went for the first time today and Wow ! I will definitely be back . Everything we had was delicious , fresh and light ! They start you off with some fried wontons and a sweet and sour sauce along with some Tea that was so good and HOT! Perfect for this freezing cold day! We ordered the hot and sour soup . So flavorful ! Kani salad . It has mangos in it which I loved ! Also the seared tuna, 2 chef special sushi rolls , shrimp pad thai , salt and pepper shrimp , along with this little wok that came with beef chicken and shrimp ( apologies I can't remember the exact menu name ) but the salt and pepper shrimp was my favorite ! "Joan" needs some customer service training!! She was so rude when I called to let them know my order was incorrect. No offer to correct it either. Ordered two sushi rolls from here. And they both weren't fresh. The shrimp was rubbery and the jalapeño roll wasn't fresh either. Spent 60 plus dollars on lunch to have to throw it out. I would not recommend this place for sushi just stick to the cooked entrees. read more

Extremely unprofessional experience. I had called in a delivery order and I told the person on the phone that I had dogs so I needed the driver to drop the food off at the door. That the money would be in the mailbox. The person on the phone proceeded to ask me how much money would be in the mailbox. I had responded with the total of the cost plus tip. He continue to ask me how much I was tipping him I had told him I wasn't sure yet. He continued to ask me how much money would be in the mailbox. Then told me if I didn't tip they would never deliver to me again. I am unsure why there was an assumption that I wasn't going to tip especially since I had told the man on the phone I was going to tip. I'd also like to add tip is not mandatory it is extra. Don't remember the names of the ones I tried, but they weren't the ordinary special rolls you normally see. I love that! Ordered dinner for the family a very large order. Had it delivered. We ordered six eggrolls with the order and they arrived very greasy and inedible. We tried taking a bite out of two of them and could not eat them. They were not very nice when I called. I called to let them know about the eggrolls and they told me if I wanted credit I had to bring them back to the restaurant. Then she asked me if I tasted any of them and I let her know that we took a bite out of two of them and she said we could not return them because we had eaten them. I told her we could not eat them as they were way too greasy. She said they should be greasy because they were deep-fried. She was very rude to me on the phone. I asked her if she minded losing a steady customer and she did not mind at all. She was willing to lose a customer after placing $120 order and wanting credit for six eggrolls. Extremely rude service and the food is extremely overpriced. They have themselves on Uber eats with a $6.00 delivery charge which is absurd and they've upped all the prices. When the driver arrives to drop my food off complains as soon as I open the door that he had to drive 4 miles. It's less than 10 minutes from my house. If you don't want drive "4 miles" take yourselves off Uber eats. You also might want to speak to your drivers about manners. If you're going to charge 3x the price for a standard Chinese dish that's available at so many other takeout places, the food has to be good. Nothing had flavor except the eggrolls which were absolutely disgusting. There was some kind of balsamic vinaigrette in there -Eww! No one in my party could stomach finishing one.
