    Sesame chicken with white meat.

Great food, excellent service and all around great experience. The portions are huge as well as their prices. We ordered sesame chicken with white meat and a side of pork fried rice. Everything was cooked to perfection great taste, rice off the charts delicious. Crab Rangoon's were jam packed full of cheese and goodness. The restaurant is super clean and nicely decorated. One downfall is that when you order a soda it comes full of ice in a rather small glass and they offer no free refills. But they do refill your water which was super cold and great tasting.

Love to place a take out order at the Mushroom Restaurant. They really offer you a bigger portion than other places.

I Googled "salt and pepper shrimp near me", and Mushroom popped up. Located about on half hour west of my domicile, this Chinese and Japanese fusion restaurant makes one of the tastiest salt and pepper shrimp on the Island. Very few restaurants make it. Just look at how it is presented by viewing the photos below. It tastes even better than it looks. The recipe for this Cantonese dish is simple: shrimp, salt, pepper, cornstarch, scallions, garlic and red pepper flakes. Sichuan peppercorns are called for in Chinese cooking sites, but some restaurants use white pepper instead. Some cooks toast the salt/pepper mixture for heartier flavor. Tik Tok, Instagram and other social media sites are replete with up-and-coming chefs, showing different ways to make the spice mixture. I use it on a lot of foods, especially the meats and veggies that I cook on the grill. When I feel too lazy to make salt and pepper shrimp at home, I drive to Mushroom or to Ha Long Bay (New Hyde Park location) to order it. The only downside is that the service at Mushroom is slow, and there are no soda refills. Zaijian (goodbye in Mandarin), Gail

My two friends and I visited Mushroom on a whim the other night because we were hungry and wanted to avoid the Saturday rush elsewhere. The food was great--really no complaints here. Hibachi is always fun and the food was tasty. I feel like it's hard to go wrong with noodles, steak, and/or chicken hibachi--all of which tasted fresh. They even gave us extra food when there was some left over! I enjoyed the authenticity of this place the most. I always look out for TsingTao beer which is very hard to find in the area. When I saw that on the menu I knew it was a wrap. Tsingtao is my favorite beer of all time and I knew I was gonna love this place after that.

Beef with Broccoli and white rice. My sister got sesame chicken with white rice and mom got chicken pad Thai noodles. 10-10 the meat was white so delicious we ate everything. Go here if you're going out to eat lunch or dinner. Service was very quick and good. And the place was very cool and decorated nice

Hi fellow Yelpers! It's been a minute since I have done the review thing on here, and I'm actually…read moreshocked and dismayed (dramatic, I know), that I NEVER wrote a glowing review for my favorite restaurant ever -- Kotobuki, which is nestled in the heart of Babylon Village. (I'm pretty sure my profile photo is me at Kotobuki, FYI.) I was recently there celebrating an anniversary dinner, and there was no time like the present to eat half my body weight in super delicious sushi. I can gush about this place over and over, and throughout the years, I have sampled so much of what Kotobuki does best on Long Island -- fresh sashimi, delectable nigiri, and beloved sushi rolls. (This place definitely has lots of history for me, so it's a nostalgic spot as well!) We started out with an appetizer of the most incredible spicy tuna crispy rice (the best version of this I've had), and then we gorged on the sushi platter for 2. Think smooth sashimi, silky nigiri, special rolls, and little decadent touches that come with this platter, too, like the salmon carpaccio, kani salad, and my personal FAVE, the fried oysters in this garlic butter miso broth. (I need this oyster broth daily.) There's a reason why Kotobuki is always a go-to for special occasions, or even nights out when we order small from the sushi bar (their toro is a dream) and simply want the best Japanese cuisine on Long Island.

There is some street parking up front but I rather park at the side because you'd have to parallel park right off of the main road in the front. You can either order to take out or eat in as there are a few tables. I'm assuming it was the owners that were taking our orders and they were extremely pleasant and friendly. Even though it was my first time there, I felt like I was treated like family! Being that it was a Saturday, there was a bit of a wait for our food (~15-20 minutes) and were told that they're busiest on the weekends (Friday, Saturday and Sunday) and it would be faster if we had placed the order via phone. Noted for next time! While we were waiting for our food, there was a CONSTANT stream of customers coming in so that's a good sign in my opinion. They have a large variety of food items to choose from and you can look at their paper menu by the cashier area. Hubby ordered an Eel Avocado roll and Chicken Teriyaki. I ordered Shrimp Teriyaki. Hubby loved his Chicken Teriyaki (came with a good amount of chicken) and Eel Avocado Roll. I tried the Eel Avocado roll and also agree it was delicious. My Shrimp Teriyaki (12 pieces) came with white rice and some vegetables but the shrimp was a bit on the dry side and could have used more sauce. I didn't realize it until later but we were given 4 small containers of what looked like the teriyaki sauce. In conclusion, even though my shrimp dish was a bit more dry, I'd definitely return to try another of their many food items and also because they're so hospitable!
