Words cannot express how much I hated this place. I travel the world for work, and this is my least favorite place I've ever stayed-and that includes hostels. I was so looking forward to being away, in the mountains and within nature, until I realized how dirty and unkept this place is. I literally couldn't even wait to leave before I posted this Yelp review. Currently, standing outside writing this review. Upon arrival, my colleague and I drove up to what seemed to look like a set of "Dirty Dancing." The lake was there where they practiced their dance moves and everything. We kind of got a hoot out of it, at first. Everything was downhill from there. Of course, we are city girls who live in a city world but we were ready to embrace the nature and the great outdoors. We were there for five days for a work event, but our intentions were to have fun while we were there as well. We looked online and saw that they had a spa, standup paddleboarding on the lake, and even fine dining. Well, the Internet is a web of lies, (accept for Yelp, of course.) It is terribly confusing when you are driving in. The resort I believe expands over 3 miles of land. When you first enter, if you are coming from the main road. Your instinct is to pull over at the first lodge. However, check-in is about a mile down. Follow signs to "Town Center." You can leave your car in the parking lot, it's huge and you should definitely be able to find a spot. We didn't have to wait in line, thank goodness. The service is ridiculously horrible. Nobody who works here has any hospitality training whatsoever. They are all without knowledge of the millennial world or technology. If anyone could've seen our reaction when we were told that the villas we were supposed to stay and did not have Wi-Fi, we looked like a cartoon characters with our eyes bulging out and jaws hanging it down to the floor. They told us they could move us to the main building, which would make more sense for us, anyway since that's where our event was. We immediately agreed. We would literally stay anywhere if it had Wi-Fi, well not anywhere. After we agreed, they told us that our room did not have windows. It was horrible. First of all, when you walked in - it wasn't clean. There were crumbs all over the kitchen counter. We had two bedrooms and two bathrooms with a living room and kitchen area. The carpet was disgusting, old, & dirty. There was different patchwork put together, old furniture that was falling apart. We had a skylight, that didn't actually lead to anything that looked like outside. It had bugs all over it. One of the rooms had two twins and the other one had a full bed. There was an actual VCR in our room. If that tells you how old this place was. It was literally a five minute walk from the elevators. The elevators are a whole other story. There is only three floors in this building and one elevator. All of the buttons are broken, and it is just a mess. Every time you pick up your phone or computer you have to re-log into the Internet. It's so annoying. The wifi is horrible and you can barely download anything. We didn't have a chance to go to the H2O water park or the indoor pool and Jacuzzi, but something told us we weren't missing much. We did use the fitness center. The free weights are old and falling apart, and the machines are so old that they are white in color. The center actually has carpet, too. On my way walking to the fitness center I realize that you can book your wedding here. Please, don't. Just don't. They have a spa in the salon, again that... Just don't. You can stay in the main building like us, they're also Villa's across the street of course those don't have Wi-Fi. There's another lodge at the end of the road by the lake. I haven't heard good things about any of them. When a hotel calls themselves rustic it usually means ratchet and when they call themselves quaint that usually means small. Code for what I've been experiencing lately. I believe I am more bitter because we pushed on from another hotel for a week that we hated as well. Just miss our Marriotts, Hilton's, Hyatts, and Westin's. The cleaning service consists of young boys who basically just take out the trash. There is one woman, I think her name is Lourdes who did a great job and I threw her a five. Otherwise, I would just hang the do not disturb sign outside or the go Green sign that gives you five dollars credit on your room. The food is literally so disgusting. Thank goodness my coworker and I stopped at Whole Foods on the way because they do have a refrigerator and a microwave with a stove & dishes there. The food is all disgusting fried food and the breakfast buffet is a huge joke. The worst food scene ever. If you have to come here, grocery shop before you get here. Overall, this place has no business allowing guests inside of before they remodel and clean everything. It is disgusting and dirty, and I will forever have bad memories of the Poconos because of this "Resort." read more
