Epic Resorts destroyed the skiing experience. They brought their corporate philosophy to ski mountains that used to be great before Vail Resorts bought them and value profit over customers. They are understaffed and customer support is awful. And the App is terrible and not user friendly. Their management have zero people skills if you have a problem at one of their resorts. There is a reason that there are more 1 star reviews than 5 star... think about it. Before Vail Resorts bought them my family had a great time there! read more

to all, i booked in advance the snow tubing adventure, but the day of the adventure, i got sick, i was dying on my death bed with the flu the day off my snow tubing adventure, not realizing i can get my money back just the night before, i reached out begging for anytype of credit or a voucher (i lose $90) in my pocket its much, in theirs it's nothing, and all i get was bs words, we can't issue you a refund, so don't i paid for the ticket give me a voucher for a future date, "that's all". all this place does is take they money and run, they can't even give me a credit. i wanted to use there slides but for them it is easier to just steal my money and not even honor a credit that's bad customer service, use other mountains they would probably honor the credits lost. read more

We are Epic season pass holders and are unable to use the mountain because the number of reservations, which you need to make before skiing, is very limited, so you end up paying lots of money for the pass only to not be allowed to ski. Per the resort, this is due to the limited number of people allowed on the mountain due to COVID. But then the resort runs about half of their lifts, so you end up standing in a long line waiting to go up the mountain. If the concern for COVID was so great, one would think the resort would run more lifts to minimize crowing in lines. Many lifts have two parallel lines, but only one will be open at any given time. Don't waste your time paying for a season pass as there is high chance that the number of days that you are able to ski will be low and on the days you do ski, you will spend a significant amount of time standing in line waiting for a lift while staring at closed lift right next to it. read more

Nice small mountain to go and ski at. I was there for a Race but that doesn't make any difference. The Moutain is small 600' vertical with 2000' summit elevation. There are several trails mostly Intermediate and Difficult trails as well as multiple terrain parks though most of them are. We've arrived early, like before the mountain opens, one of the parking lots was closed for a Subaru event, but that didn't stop us. The sitting area at the top lodge is scarce on the weekends there is a restaurant and the bar (noone under 21 admitted). Because we were there for a race we just occupied 1 table for the team and used that as a base of operations. The course according to my son wasn't that difficult but with warm temperatures, which seemed odd that at higher elevation we would have higher temp then at lower elevations but there it was and 100 skiers in the ruts on the slalom course were pretty deep. But kids still had fun and so did the adults. Other runs on the mountain were open and we took full advantage. I think it would also benefit from night skiing. read more

This is just for the tubing. Friendly staff. Very well organized and not crowded even though it was peak season. I think we paid 27 for 3 hours of tubing. I ordered them online and the lady there printed them out. We had a blast. All the hills we're open and we went down probably 15 or 20 times. We didn't stay the whole time cause it was just 5 degrees the day we went. Some people weren't prepared for the cold and I know their experience wasn't as good as ours as they were freezing. After reading reviews on Yelp we decided to go here instead of Camelback and I am so glad we did. Fantastic family day. read more

Extremly understaffed, staff at registration window to get rentals were very rude and ignorant, sold way too many lift tickets only allowing 6 rides in 7 hours, leaks in the buildings and very run down. I am writing this review during an unseasonably warm winter and was lucky enough to find that Jack Frost had started making artificial snow. The mountain was a 2 hour drive from NYC and was the second closest alternative for me. Pricing: Average (~$55 lift ticket). They do offer pretty good ticket deals especially for college students on Wednesdays! Mountain: I believe there are two mountains (Jack Frost and Big Boulder). Jack Frost is open from 9AM-4PM (not 100% sure what Big Boulders hours are). The snow was decent for artificial snow but there were a few icy patches here and there. Environment: Staff and fellow mountaingoers were friendly and everyone was having a good time. Parking: Plenty of parking right in front of the lodge! I will update this review when the season is in full swing. read more

Big Boulder is for beginners and boarders who want to hit the terrain parks...The "mountain" is really just a big boulder...only a handful of lifts\trails and even the black diamonds are a joke, unless you are a beginner...for boarders who have to adjust their bindings each trip up the ski lift...you will spend more time riding the lifts and adjusting your bindings as you will bombing down the slopes... There is some cool terrain for boarders, and one of the hills has some great jumps on it, but thats the big attraction for the boarders...terrain... Going from the Philly area? Hit Bear Creek or Blue Mountain instead...if you want to learn, hit Spring Mountain... for an experienced skiier BB is timid and lame at best. The lodge is OK, they have a nice bar in there and of course an extremely overpriced cafe, but that is to be expected in most lodges... read more

Want some fun with ice and snow but don't want to break the bank at it, then come here. Our extended family of 8 came here for a 3 hour snow tubing attraction. We chose to come here because of the per person price of $27 for 3 hours weekend/holiday. Other nearby snow tubing like camelback is $35 per person. Parking is free as long as you're not parking at the lodge which charges $10. Bathrooms are also at the lodge. Thankfully the free parking is only one block away. Upon arrival, you are to fill out a waiver form which may take some time to complete so I suggest you to complete and print the form online and submit it when paying at the booth. After paying, you will need to hang the sticker tag to your coat/zipper, pick one of the tubes on the side and walk towards the lift. To my surprise, you are to give your tube (which comes with a closed ring) to the staff at the lift, then you are to sit in the tube as the lift will bring you in your tube up the snow mountain. Once your tube reaches to the top, you're told to get off the tube and get off quickly as the lift is moving and the staff will need to pull the ring off the lift. If you're not athletic like me and need to time to get off the tube, this is not the place for you. The first time on the lift, I rolled over to my side and kneeled to get off. Yes, the staff is there but don't expect for them to help you. They won't! The second time I got on the lift, I couldn't get off the tube in time and the staff pulled the tube as I was struggling to up and then I fell on my a$$! Thank goodness the slide down was fun and not as a pain in the butt as going up the lift. There are 7 lanes to choose. Lane 1, 2, 6 and 7 are medium thrilled slides where the drop are not as steep. Lane 3,4,5 are for those whose more adventurous. The drop is very steep. Once you slide down, it's very fun so enjoy the ride. At the bottom, you can take some time to get off your tube and quickly exit the lanes so the next group can slide down. I'm ranking two stars based upon the competitive pricing. The staff aren't too friendly and I hated the lift experience so more than likely, I would not come here again unless if my kids are the only ones riding. read more

We took the family up to Jack Frost and Big boulder for a long weekend of tubing and skiing and overall had a really nice time. Our day at Jack Frost was a good one. The mountain wasn't very busy, lift lines were pretty quick, the staff loading folks into the lifts were very helpful to me and everyone I watched get on and off, holding the chair for ease of access and slowing for folks that needed more time. As the day progressed they opened more lifts to keep the lines to a minimum. I'm not the best snow boarder there is so the terrain park was out for me. I will say that the greens were a little tame which you definitely want for beginners but for a warmup hit the blues. There aren't double black diamonds but the black diamonds they have are the better trails, the ride is more fun and the views are even better. Our day at Big boulder was for tubing and this was disappointing. We had the 3 hour ticket and a 40 minute wait was there for our first ride. In the 3 hours we got 4 runs in the lines were so long. They have 2 tubing sections but only 1 was open and of those 7-9 lanes 3 were closed. For my money I wouldn't do this again, the waiting is awful and the restrooms on site are appalling read more

I had a great experience at Jack Frost and Big Boulder Ski Resorts. We spent two days skiing! It was my first time skiing and I am really glad I started with Jack Frost. The Discovery Beginner package was perfect for me. I would recommend getting there right at 9am to start the lesson. It was myself and about 5 other people practicing going up and down a little hill. The staff was very attentive and helped me learn more after every time down. There was a young girl they were able to work with one on one. It was nice to see her learning and advancing. Once we were ready Tom took three of us in a serpentine down the green circle. He also taught us how to get on and off the lift. After one more run we were on our own! I felt very prepared to take on the other three green circles. After two full days of green circles I finally built up the confidence for a blue square. I did it three times in a row getting better every time. The Big Boulder was beautiful at night a little icy, but not very many people. It allowed me to go down some of the trails alone and fast! The only down side was the amount of snowboarders sitting on the ground on the trails. I felt like I was dodging them left and right. A group of 2-6 would sit for 5 minutes, then slowly get up and continue down. Also the service at the bar was very slow and they got our order wrong. The waitress wrote it down correctly, but the kitchen did not make it correctly. read more

It specifically says "Lift tickets are non-refundable" but does NOT say anything about ski rentals. The link takes you to the Jack Frost / Big Boulder website. After logging in with the group credentials, you have 2 choices; lift ticket only (Adult 1 Day) or lift ticket plus rentals (Adult 1 Day w/Rent). It specifically states "The discounted lift ticket purchased is non-refundable and non-transferrable", but it also does NOT state anything about ski rentals, even when selecting both. The Jack Frost / Big Boulder website (http://jfbb.com) does not allow you to purchase ski rentals alone, only lift ticket plus rentals. Therefore, I was unable to purchase the lift tickets, then rentals separately. They both had to be selected at the same time to receive rentals. I called and spoke with guest services, but I was told they could not help me. I explained the situation and told them I was only looking for a refund or a credit for the extra I paid for the rentals ($34.33 - $9.43 = $25 x 3 = $75 total) of the total i spent ($102.99). I was not give a reason why I couldn't be given a credit voucher for that amount to be used at another time, even though it would not impact their business in any way. I am now disputing the charge with my credit card company and would like to cancel the entire transaction because the vendor was unwilling to work with me in good faith. The services I purchased from them were never given and I no longer plan to us them even if given the opportunity in the future. The reason for the cancellation was due to a big storm on March 3rd, 2018. All the other Pocono Ski resorts near by closed for the day for safety reasons, including but not limited to, Camelback and Shawnee. JFBB Ski Area does not care about customers safety or about providing it's customers with a good faith service! There are many other better ski areas in the area so do not go here! read more

We had a great time at Jack Frost skiing with our 3 kids aged 10,11, and 12. It was only their second time skiing and we signed them up for the Discovery program where they have them go from one station to the next. So it is not a formal group lesson. When we saw them a few hours later they were getting off the lift and heading down the green slopes with confidence. We went skiing with them for the rest of the day and they did great. We went on the Friday of the holiday weekend and there were alot of people there but the slopes and lifts were not crowded. We saw how many people were there when we went in for lunch. The lunch area was packed at noon but cleared out by 1:00. We also had to wait a bit to get our rental gear at 9:30am. I wish we had brought our own. The staff were nice and friendly. Would recommend this ski area to any family with beginner skiers. The kids are already asking to go back next year. read more

Great snow making and friendly staff but the good review stops there. We've been coming to Jack Frost for decades and nothing much has changed ... unfortunately that's the problem. The lodge, food options, and lifts are trapped in the '80s and in desperate need of investment and updates. While resorts like Camelback have added high speed lifts, built a water park, and created non-skiing activities Jack Frost seems to just be a cash cow being milked by the previous owner (Peaks) and now Vail. Items to be aware of: - Parking is free but it's a muddy ungraded lot so drive slowly - Lifts are ancient, in fact one is broken and they have no plans to fix it - Staffing is stretched to the max - Food is dreadful, the only good option is the bar but it's adults only - No night skiing and closed by 4, get there early - The lodge can be a zoo I had hopes that Vail Resorts taking over would lead to improvements but haven't seen any yet. Here's hoping next season is better but for this you'd be better skiing anywhere else in PA. read more

Definitely do not recommend for children's ski lessons. We signed my just turned 5 year old up for a private lesson with Cookie Man, or Cookie Monster.. whatever this guy goes by. He is totally not qualified to work with small children. He was yelling at my son, could barely walk around on the slopes himself, never even put on a pair of skis to demonstrate proper technique. Awful. My husband and I are both very strong skiers.. in an effort to preserve his future love and the magic of skiing, my husband ended up going onto the hill and pulling him out of the lesson early. We complained to management and then he proceeded to make some incredibly strong and inappropriate judgmental statements against my small child. They were very rude regarding getting our money back for the failed lesson. Avoid him and this ski school at all costs. read more

Jack Frost had the most atrocious customer service I have ever seen!!!! Be prepared to wait 2 hours to even step foot on the slopes!!! I was a past employee in the ticket sales department for 5 years and I have never seen such ridiculously long lines moving at a snails pace, ever!! We waited in line for 2 hours to receive the daily passes, even though they were already purchased and reserved for the specific day online. There were only 2 employees at the window and most of the time one of them were dealing with complicated families for over 30 mins. Instead, the families should have stepped out of the line and the situation been handled by a manager so the ticket line could continue operating with two employees. Jack frost better get their act together and figure out a way to function more efficiently with the new covid protocols, because they are currently nothing but a disgrace!! Maybe install plexi glass barriers in between ticket sellers so you can actually put more than two employees in a building?? And actually answering phone calls and emails so customers' questions could be answered would be amazing!! read more

My dad and I went to take a snowboarding lesson at Jack Frost. It was our first time with any type of snow sport and we did not know what to expect. After booking the lesson online, I tried to call and email to make sure we did not need to bring anything extra and I never heard back from anyone. Our original lesson was planned for a day there was supposed to be a snow storm and it was again a nightmare to get anyone to return my call about changing days and when I finally did the person on the other end of the phone was rude. That should have been our first clue as to what we were in for. When we arrived at JF at around 8:30 in the morning there was already a long line to get our lift tickets. We waited over two hours in line and missed our original lesson time at 10 am because we did not get our tickets in time. I know some people waited over three hours in line and one worker told us that hundreds of people cancelled each day because they could not stand to wait in that line. We had rented all of our equipment from JF and someone in the rental building had told us that because we were late, we could get our equipment before we got our tickets to save some time. A few people behind us in line already picked up their rentals so I left my dad in line and went in to grab my equipment. The lady that was handing out the stuff was so incredibly rude I would have left if I did not already pay and drive all the way to take the lesson. She screamed at me and gave me such a hard time that I could not get my stuff even though there were other workers saying it was okay. I ended up getting it but I was so upset when I left. She was not the only worker that was rude to me and my father but she definitely got our day off to a bad start. Overall, the lesson was okay but I was absolutely not prepared to go anywhere near the mountain when I was finished. When we went to leave and my dad realized he was missing his glasses. We went back to the bathroom to check for them and it was closed for cleaning but my dad went in to look for them. The man cleaning the bathroom screamed at him saying things like "GET OUT NOW" "I DON'T CARE GET OUT". I was absolutely shocked that anyone would treat a customer that way. With all due respect sir, you clean bathrooms and there is no reason to talk to someone like that. I will absolutely never go back to Jack Frost and they really need to evaluate their staff and the way they treat people. I did not meet one nice worker there and they were all so rude to us and to other skiers. I understand this is a stressful time and we are all trying to do our best, but regardless of how long we waited for our lesson the staff was so rude and it was by far one of the worst customer service experiences I have ever had. Went to Jack Frost for a day of skiing with my aunt. We brought tickets online and received them with no problems. There was only 1 ticket taker at that time, but no line. MASKS ARE REQUIRED AT ALL TIMES EVEN OUTDOORS, RIDING THE CHAIRLIFT AND INSIDE THE LODGE!!!Then we proceeded to ski for a while. Then my aunt and I wanted to beat the lunch rush and went into the lodge. THERE IS NO INDOOR DINNING, NO TABLES, NO CHAIRS, NO NOTHING, you can use the bathroom and that is it. I know with Covid they have to be safe, but PA is allowed to have indoor dinning. Also there is a limited menu at the cafe and if you TOUCH THE BOX OR CONTAINER YOU HAVE TO BUY IT, even if you changed your mind. So with NOTHING inside, my aunt and I decided to not get lunch until later (BY THE WAY THERE ARE OUTSIDE TABLES THOUGH). The lift people were nice and there was only a 2 mins wait to get on the lifts. Snow was good but some icy spots. Other than no where to enjoy our meal it was ok at best!! Also the tickets were overpriced! Also FYI: I have called Jack Frost to get some info about their covid protocol and NO one answered, even with me calling 6 times! read more

If you are looking for a family-friendly ski place in the Poconos, this is the place. The runs are fairly wide open and there are a bunch of easy trails for the kiddos. I also find the vibe here to be focused on the family and the aggressive boarders/skiers seem to go elsewhere. I guess it also helps that there is a sister terrain park across the street where boarders can do their stuff (please note, I am a boarder, but I am old - so I don't do tricks). But oddly enough, I find the race team to be somewhat annoying. The parents tends to take over the eating area by putting all their gear on the table and taking off for hours. Then they all come in at the same time and take over the lunch area and bring all their ski gear into the eating area. Read the sign and follow the rules like the rest of us - NO EQUIPMENT IN THE EATING AREA! It's really annoying. But if you get there a little before the main rush, you can usually find a place to sit. But despite my pet peeve, it's still a good place to come and get your cuts in. read more

This was my first time skiing at Jack Frost, or on the East Coast, for that matter. I had been concerned about poor customer service (due to other reviews) and safety during the pandemic. All the people working at Jack Frost were extremely courteous and helpful during my visit the day after last week's snowstorm. There were no lines for the lifts during the morning, but the afternoon brought more people and about a 5-10 minute wait for lifts. Overall, my experience was positive and I'm glad to have taken the opportunity to ski following the storm. However, I don't think I will go again to Jack Frost during the pandemic. I had rented skis at the resort and had to schlep over to my car in my ski boots to store my shoes, as there's no storage in the building. Also, there's no eating or drinking in the building, which makes sense during the pandemic, so I ate lunch in my car. While that's certainly better than the alternative of eating outside in the cold, it's one less opportunity to actually warm up. If you're like me and get cold easily, skiing during the pandemic is just an all around cold business. The slow lifts and short runs don't help in that regard either. read more

Despite less than ideal conditions, my buddy and I headed up to Jack Frost for an afternoon of snowboarding. Now having visited Blue, Camelback and JF, this is most certainly the weakest of the Pocono retreats. They're understaffed, the snowboard rentals are below basic, and the runs themselves are short-lived. Everything closes at 4pm and if you try a last run, they'll threaten to arrest you at the bottom and then make you hike up a 45 minute backroad for access back to the parking lot. A pretty severe penalty when the ski lift is still running. Admittedly, we went under the orange rope. ;) read more

This review is specifically about The Little Monsters Ski School sign up process. Be prepared for chaos and confusion and waiting on long lines and paying some hefty fees. Ron at the "order" line wears a walkie-talkie and I am guessing this gives him some sort of authority. But he is nasty and rude and makes you feel as though you are inconveniencing him by paying $77-$87 per child for a three hour lesson. (With and without rentals is a diff of $10). They were quite eager to take my child and the instructors taking my child seemed pleasant and great with kids. They took our child and said go pay. So we went and stood on a line for 20 min to pay. We get up there and Ron chirps in saying I have to speak with him first and put in my order. So we move over to Ron's line and he takes a scrap piece of paper and writes our child's age and that she skis and then barks at us to get back in the pay line. Which is now 30 people long. It would normally make sense to order then pay, which is why it is baffling that the pay line comes before the order line. It would be like McDonald's giving you your food. Then telling you to pay and then to order. Right, makes no sense. We said we just stood on this line and could we just pay, he barked again - get to the back of the line. So I think this ski resort has a few things to learn. Most important, how to treat a customer. Especially a paying customer. read more

This is a review for Big Boulder mountain; I didn't get to try Jack Frost. Decent ski area. The trails are a bit too straight for my taste but I was generally satisfied. Not crowded at all. The difficult areas aren't really that difficult and are less busy than the easy areas. There are several terrain trails on here, which would be awesome if I had the balls to do one of the crazy jumps. Parking was easy. Getting a ticket and rentals took less than 10 minutes. The lodge is really nice and they've got a live band playing in the afternoon. read more

Went skiing here for the first time! I'm not an expert on what a good mountain feels like, but I thought the staff was amazing! First off, the rentals people are helpful if you don't know how to work a ski boot open and do their best to get you the right size. It's a very painless experience except for the actual process of getting the stuff on, which is just a sad inherent truth to ski gear. I signed up for lessons and most of the teachers were enthusiastic, diligent, and thorough. They have a really quick program to get you from clumsily trying to walk down stairs in ski boots to being able to glide in little twists and turns down a hillside. They're very energetic, and very patient. There was a bit of an issue where one of my teachers was in a rush to go to lunch and sent me down the practice slope before I actually had turning down, so I fell down a lot and ended up going back to lessons for a few hours and got to ski down a hill just once before it was time for us to leave. Their cafeteria looked nice! We brought out our own food and had plenty of spots to sit with our picnic. read more

A lift ticket will give you access to both Jack Frost and Big Boulder Ski Areas. In my opinion, Big Boulder is a great place to try skiing for the first time. I would avoid Big Boulder if you are an experienced skier because you will be completely bored in about an hour. Jack Frost is a small mountain with some decent hills. The black slopes are steep, challenging but short. The best time to ski at JF is first thing in the morning (they open at 9am). You will have to deal with the rude "old guy" regulars. Parking is a breeze and the ski shop is worth a visit. read more

I have come here several times bc it is so close to Philadelphia. I went last Saturday & will not be returning. There are plenty of other mountains to ski in the area (Camelback for example) that offer better skiing and MUCH better customer service. Jack Frost gets so crowded that there is no respect shown to you as a customer, even though every adult thee skiing is paying at least $50 a head. I am finished going to places that no do not act as though they want/need my business. You really are just one of the heard & it is evident that management could care less. I didn't even have an argument or even voice my complaints, so I am not bitter about an altercation of some sort or anything like that. I really just never feel as though they respect their customers, which is sad. I will gladly take my money (and family) somewhere else to ski... and I am sure that I will likely have better conditions. This place is unpleasant & I won't be going back. Let me start out by saying that I am not a snow sports girl. I have no interest in learning how to ski or snowboard. Usually my snow playing is running around and throwing snowballs at my dog for an hour. But since everyone in my group wanted to go snow tubing while we were staying in the Poconos, I agreed to play along. It's not that they had to twist my arm, snow tubing does sound sort of fun... The drive from Split Rock was pretty simple and signs will lead you right to Big Boulder. I don't know what to expect in terms of cost but we paid $27 for a 3 hour increment. You either snow tube from 1-4 or 4-7. We arrived at 2 and did the 1-4 pm increment. It was so fun! The process is simple, pay for your ticket, attach it to your jacket, grab a tube, go up the conveyer belt thingy to the top of the hill, wait for your cue, and slide down in your tube! The first time I went down we all connected our tubes and it was awesome! I felt like a little kid, screaming and laughing my way down the hill. I swear every time I ended up at the bottom, I'd run back up the hill yelling "Again! Again!" Even though we only got two hours in I think that's plenty. We tubed many, many times, and all had a blast. The staff was pretty friendly as well, helping us up the conveyer belt and giving us a push down the hill if we needed it. They also have a little cafe if you need a snack and a big fire pit to sit around and stay warm. I can't wait to tube again! read more

JFBB is great for first timers and regulars alike. JF is better in the morning and has a lot better trails overall. The store at BB is better, though food is better at JF. I have been coming to JFBB for many years now, mainly because I can't afford to get out to CO, or VT. However, for the price, and the proximity, JFBB doesn't disappoint. Theyre constantly making snow, and the trails, though few are great for novice ski/snowboarders. First time skiing...EVER. Can't recall ever having done it in a past life either, but the instructors made you feel soo comfortable...I walked off feeling like a pro. . Amazing customer service all around from the purchasing of the tickets...to the equipment rentals...to the lessons. I am a HUGE customer service junky so when I feel a person and or group of people go above and beyond I like to give recognition where it is due. Big Builder Snow tubing was a joke .. They $20 for all day but it takes around 2hrs to just go down one time . The workers move very slow in are very unorganized no lines at the top of the tube slide so everyone is just all bunch up .. Food way over priced for snacks it was like buying from a movie Theater . Went here for skiing with my frnds... It was right across from the cabin we rented..... It was my first time skiing and I took the instructor led package... The instructors did a good job and I had a lot of fun. My friends who have gone skiing at other locations said this place the quality of the slopes and snow was much better..... read more

For the novice skier, Big Boulder is great. I don't qualify to give an opinion as an advanced skier, as I did end up among the trees on my last run down the mountain, so bear that in mind. A weekend day pass which includes equipment rental is $85- this allows you to go back and forth between Big Boulder and Jack Frost, should you want new routes. It also includes night skiing (only offered at BB), so you can get your money's worth. The other great thing is that you can come and go- so you're not forced to eat the bland food offerings available; which I must say are not good (- one star). Furthermore, if you rent a snowboard, and realize it's a lot harder than Shaun White makes it look, you can re-join me on the safety of skis! It was actually pretty funny to see a mountain of inexperienced snowboarders sitting down at various parts of the mountain. (Although I shortly after landed among the trees... thanks Karma). I also tried tubing: it's fun with a group and requires no skill- although unless you are with young kids, don't expect to be entertained more than an hour here. read more
