This was my first going Skiing/ Snowboarding or tubing. Came here as a planned group trip for my cousins birthday. We initially went to the Jack Frost location around 3pm and we were informed they were closing at 4, but Big Boulder would be able to accommodate (with our same rentals, etc) and they were also doing the night ski. We arrived at big boulder and parked immediately, as there is a large parking area. There are several buildings which should be labeled a little better. We completely skipped the rental checking and went directly to the equipment rentals. We were informed that we were supposed to to go the "first" building first but they were happy to help nonetheless. The equipment rental was Easy. They made sure you had all you necessary equipment prior to stepping out. After that was completely lost. I saw ppl going to different ski lifts but I had no idea which were beginner, intermediate or advanced slopes. I had to ask around and made my way there. I went with a group who skied in the past so they gave me a crash course but I recommend taking a class. I got on the slopes and had an amazing time skiing the beginners slopes. I went up the slopes of 10 and on fell 2 times (as a beginner). But, I was exercising on an elliptical machine to get my knees and muscles acclimated. I got over zealous and went onto and advanced slope with jumps and logs. I tried to game plan how I was going to jump the ramp... EPIC FAIL. Went down the slope at high speeds, did a half backflip and landed on head. Skies went flying off, my hamstring sore and thankfully I had on a helmet. I survived to write this review so it was worth the store. Also, what makes Big Boulder a 5 in my opinion is its additional amenities. There is a restaurant, bar and live band. It was great grabbing some food, a drink and enjoy the local talent. I loved my experience here and I will definitely be planning a family vacation/ outing here. Thanks Big Boulder. PRICEY $$$$

Parking on Saturday was quite challenging. There was no waiting line for the check in. With Epic Pass, we were able to go straight for the ski lift without any problems. There was DJ playing music by the Tannenbaum lift, which provided some entertainment while waiting in the long line. It was disappointed that not all trails were open. When we took a break, there was a live band performance in the Main Lodge at 4pm Saturday January 14.

Don't let this Ski Resort crush your dreams. The staff was rude. I was running late coming to the snowboarding class. The people at the front desk told me I should not even go to class because "I was going to hold everyone back" I went anyway and in the 30 minutes that was left in class I learned how to leaf with my heels from hearing the teacher and watching the student's techniques. (See pic. I have the video but Yelp cant post videos) If you ever feel like you can't do something because someone tells you can't and tells you are a burden, remember this review of a snowboarder who couldn't even balance his first time and learned how to brake and leaf.

Food was exactly what we needed after hitting the slopes. Took a quick lesson broke for lunch and a beer and hit it hard again. The food was hot fast and good!

Among the staff, Griffin at the front counter was a pleasure to work with. CONS: they charge you extra to use the common amenities (pool, gym, arcade, etc) and then extra on top of that for the water park. The electronic room key also failed and the carpet in our room wasn't clean. The line for check in took a solid 20 minutes. Longer than any other place I've been to. We also found a few bugs in our room OVERALL: not sure if I would come back here. The staff and the amount of amenities was amazing, but the cleanliness and the prices are very questionable

This review is being given a year after the visit due to my experiences with this company. Save your money and go to the Kartrite *NY* instead, a direct competitor of this company, who I rated 5 stars 3 years ago. My review of the Kartrite detailed that we had an awesome family getaway -- super friendly staff, a full schedule of kids' activities, scavenger hunts, and even the indoor/outdoor hot springs. It's organized, clean, and actually delivers on what it advertises. Split Rock was the complete opposite when we stayed in May 2025, while I was 8 months pregnant, as a babymoon and celebration for my first born before finally becoming a sister. From the moment we arrived, things were disorganized and poorly managed. We waited over 2 hours total just to check in in line in the lobby, and were given notice we would hear when our room was ready (a common practice advertised for families who want to use the water park before they check into their room), however no communication about when our room would be ready ever came so we waited again for an hour in the same line later on. The waterpark was only partially functional, with multiple attractions out of order, dirty bathrooms, and limited food options available. We "upgraded" to a Willowbrook suite specifically for the hot tub in the room -- which didn't have any working jets OR hot water. The room lacked basic essentials like soap, extra toilet paper, and even a trash can in the kitchen. One of the two AC units didn't function in the room. We later found out (on day TWO) that the property was under a boil water advisory, after we had already been drinking the water for our entire stay, WHILE I was 8 months pregnant. Dining was just as disappointing -- a $25 all you can eat Memorial Day "BBQ" that was actually one plate only, which included an undercooked hamburger, and resulted in my family getting sick the next day. Activities were inconsistent too -- advertised movies were changed without notice, and the WiFi didn't work when we tried to salvage the evening in the bedroom with a movie instead. The final straw: no hot water on our last morning. I chose not to make a scene during our stay because the front desk staff were clearly overwhelmed and dealing with many similar complaints. This is not a staff issue -- it is a systemic failure of this business. What makes this truly shameful is what happened in the months after when I tried to professionally handle the situation, without even asking for a refund which I really should have given the horrific standards not meeting appropriate living conditions. Following our stay, I sent a detailed and fair account of our experience similar but longer than this review. The Manager whose name I will redact at this time responded and offered a complimentary one-night stay "for two" (despite our two-night stay and the extent of issues). I responded promptly, reasonably asking about options for our family of four and a comparable experience. Then... nothing. I followed up multiple times over the course of an entire year with no response. As the certificate approached expiration, I reached out again simply trying to book something as the email requested I do when I was ready to try again. Still no response. At this point, it's not just about a bad stay, it's about a complete lack of accountability and follow-through. I hope this behavior in the year after is due to something more than lack of care. I no longer trust that I would have a safe visit for my family if they did offer me to stay. Now, I would only request a refund. I gave Split Rock every opportunity to make this right before posting publicly. Waiting a full year with no response is unacceptable. This was supposed to be a special final trip as a family of three. Instead, it was stressful, disappointing, and frankly unbelievable. I never thought I'd write a review like this -- but this experience earned it. Rooms: 1/5 | Service: 1/5 | Location: 2/5

I wavered between 3 and 4 stars on this one. How you feel about Blue Mountain depends largely on…read morewhat kind of a skier/snowboarder you are. If you're an absolute beginner, it isn't a bad introduction to the world of snow sports. It's a small "mountain" and therefore very beginner friendly. They have a completely closed off area on one side that is entirely for beginners with conveyor lifts, very gentle and short slopes, and a short chairlift. There are also two green trails on the mountain designated as "slow skiing areas," though they might want to police them better as there were still several daredevils blasting by us. The whole process for rentals and lessons is a well-oiled machine and easy to navigate. My 11-year-old son had never been skiing or snowboarding before and was anxious to try. So this seemed like a logical spot to bring him. I had been here plenty of times as a kid in the 90's, but this was my first time back in decades. We came on a Sunday in March and arrived at 7:30. It was already crowded with cars and people at that point but we still got a good parking spot and picking up rental equipment was no problem. My son enjoyed his snowboarding lesson and was loving how quickly he was learning. I bought a lift pass for me + helmet rental, and a beginner package for him (this included snowboard/helmet rental, one hour lesson, and restricted lift ticket). All together this was $293, which seems wildly overpriced for the mountain we were on, especially considering my son was stuck to the beginner area all day unless we upgraded his lift ticket. But I guess this price is common in the skiing industry these days, and I hate to think what the big mountains out west are charging. If you're an experienced skier/snowboarder and live close by, it's probably not a bad place to get in a quick fix. As an experienced skier myself, it was a pleasant day on the slopes, but got a little boring after awhile. If I'm going to pay an arm and a leg, fight hordes of people all day, and drive for a few hours to get there, I'd rather do so on a bigger and more challenging mountain.

We enjoyed the views from the chair lift and felt pretty safe. After the lift, we hiked over to the restaurant at Summit Lodge. ** Of note, the website says it's a .6 mile trek, but it is definitely 1 full mile as we were told upon departing the chair lift. We finished our meal and hiked back up the mountain arriving at 5, to discover that the lift was shutting down for the night. The operator said someone should've told us that it stops running at 430. Initially, he said he could take one of us back down in his 2 seater vehicle and the rest of us would have to hike back. But then he decided to radio to base who advised they would have someone drive the 3 of us together. The operator waited with us until our driver arrived. The driver was a very nice police officer who gave us a lot of info about Blue Mountain, and even volunteered to be our photographer. Despite the snafu, we all said we would come back. 8/10

We went on weekends and during the holiday week, but two of the lifts were not in operation. The line for the lift got a bit longer during the peak time. The group lesson seemed very crowded and the teacher / student ratio seemed high. Good to know that their tickets could be used at Big Boulder, so you could basically ski in two different mountains for the price of one ticket! The cost of the food was way over charged. I would recommend to go during weekdays if possible because it was crowded on weekends.

There is trash everywhere. Truly everywhere. Many people don't bother using the trash bins and instead leave their garbage behind for someone else to deal with. Public spaces and facilities aren't treated with much care; we saw gum, trash, and random items tossed into the gas fire pits, and people taking selfies often seemed to take priority over respecting others' personal space. We were fortunate to have rented a condo outside the resort, but the behavior we encountered at the resort itself was very similar, plus a few additional moments we could have done without, including someone blowing their nose into their bare hand and whipping it onto the floor. My family and I are doing the 50‑state challenge, and we chose Camelback Mountain as our Pennsylvania destination. Had we realized how close it was to NYC, we likely would have picked somewhere else. The mountain is beautiful, and the resort has a lot of potential, but they were out of almost everything across the property. On‑site restaurants had limited availability, and the posted hours weren't accurate. There's also very little to do outside the resort at this time of year. That said, I recommend you get here as early as possible if you plan to rent equipment!! It's also very helpful to reserve your gear and lift tickets ahead of time. That will make the gear check out process a bit easier/faster. We arrived around 1pm, and stood in a ridiculously long line to get our gear... All in all, we spent a little over an hour and a half just waiting for our gear. We were pretty annoyed by this, so if you're looking to spend more time on the slopes, get here EARLY!!! Parking is free, but also very difficult to find the later you get here... So keep that in mind as well. They have lockers all over the premises to lock up your things. You'll have to pay to rent them and I believe the only option is to pay for the whole day. Regarding crowdedness... There were really long wait times at the ski lifts, which was very annoying and often frustrating. I get that they have upgraded systems that scan our lift tickets each time we ride, however it created a lot of chaos regarding the lines. I was not a fan. Also, the number of people who were just SITTING in the middle of the slopes, blocking the way was incredibly annoying and also dangerous. There were a LOT of people doing this... I get that it can be scary going down the slopes, especially if it's your first time, however MOVE TO THE SIDE if you're not planning on going anywhere. To end on a brighter note, we were surprised to discover that they offer night skiing here! So arriving later in the day didn't affect us too much as we continued skiing until after 7pm. As beginners, we only needed about 3-4 hours of ski time so it worked out great for us! Not sure if we would come back here or not, but we're definitely glad we tried it out at least once!
