So happy to return after 1.5 years as their new water complex was finished. - Burgers awesome as ever - Cookies awesome as ever - You can see upgrades and new changes everywhere while preserving the character and spirit of the lodge - Thomas and Theresa were excellent hiking guides - Breakfast continues to be a highlight but it always seems like it's more chaotic than it should for a routine daily event, also having more variety of cereal, smoothies, muffins would be nice The new water complex? The hot tub taken on its own is lovely and so luxurious, a definitely upgrade. But...the kids constantly want to come in and are never stopped. People are leaving trash everywhere since they can get it at the bar next door. The outside doors are right next to it so that becoming a thoroughfare won't be relaxing. The lighting is efficient and modern but not comforting. The splash pad is a fun idea but it is SO LOUD when it comes on, you can't hear anything at all. I'll reserve judgement for when the full outdoors are renovated and when the pool area is quiet it's lovely. We adore this place deeply but do worry it's trying to be all things to all people all the time. read more

I came to Skytop this past weekend hopeful of a pleasant and joyous time as I was there for a wedding. I called ahead to let them know I had a disability and therefore had a therapy dog I would be bringing, they okayed this and put it in the reservation. Upon our arrival we were rudely and abruptly greeted being told we could not enter with the small therapy dog my husband was holding. We explained our situation and that we had it okayed ahead of time, however the man who was speaking rudely to us said he did not see an ADA disability and my husband informed him I struggled with both a mental and physical disability registered by the ADA which is why I have a therapy dog. The man again said he didn't see anything wrong with me, questioning my disability because that day he couldn't physically see it. We continued to plead our case as we had driven 2.5 hours to get there and there was nothing around this place, it is very secluded. Finally they let us inside and the front desk confirmed our reservation said we had a therapy dog that was okayed but the man who was speaking to us still would not let us check in. I felt violated, embarrassed and saddened at this point to be treated and talked down to in this way. Finally, when the man came back they said they would let us stay but would charge us the price of an extra night's stay as a "cleaning fee". We were already paying an exorbitant amount of money to be there and could not afford to pay for an extra night. We had to leave and drive 45 minutes to find another hotel which was welcoming and kind to us, the opposite of this place. Skytop disrespected my disability and their promise of being allowed to have my therapy dog with me. I would never go back here or recommend it and I am truly saddened to have been treated this way as a human being. read more

We have been to Skytop a few times in the past, but not for over 10 years. We gathered a group of 3 other couples and decided to give it a try again for a long weekend. Let me tell you - it did not disapoint! We had an amazing time and are already planning another trip there with a larger group. We like to stay in the Inn down by the lake because we have golfers in our group. All our rooms were terrific and appear to be relatively recently renovated. Some had golf course views & others had lake side views. We squeezed as much into our 3 days as possible! Rounds of golf, lunches, a lawn bowling tournament (our own), corn hole tournament (also our own), a golf cart tour (shout out to Monica our guide as well as our lawn bowling babysitter!! the best!), hikes to a waterfall and lots of food! We had the modified meal package with breakfast & dinner included. The breakfast buffet had everything you could possibly want. There were plenty of choices for dinner & something for everyone. We had dinner one night in the Lakeview dining room & the other night in the Windsor dining room in the main lodge. We had the most amazing server in the Windsor - shout out to Sam, literally one of the best ever. Handled our group of 8 with lots of humor & grace and was able to give it right back to us-- funny, polite and quick witted. My only issue during our entire stay was an unpleasant encounter with a rude concierge that caught us off guard because everyone else was amazing - from the gentleman Chris who checked us in & accommodated the group to the housekeeping attendants to the bar tenders in the Library Lounge to all the servers in the restaurants. My one disapointment was they closed the spa during covid and haven't reopened it since. The ladies & I would have taken advantage of it had it been there but we found other things to occupy our time while the guys were golfing. The renovations they've made since we were last there were terrific. They updated the Tap Room downstairs in the Lodge and added a coffee shop & the Library bar on the main floor. A Place That Truly Feels Like Home We just returned from another wonderful winter weekend at Skytop Lodge, and somehow it continues to exceed expectations every single time. Our family has been visiting Skytop for many years, and during this trip I realized I have personally been there close to 20 times since meeting my husband in 2007. That kind of history says everything. This is not just a destination for us. It is part of our family story. This particular weekend was especially meaningful as we were celebrating a big birthday. We brought two couples of close friends with us. One had visited before, the other had never experienced Skytop. By the end of the weekend, both couples made it clear they will absolutely be returning. From the moment you pull up to the front door, the welcome is elite. And the welcome from Robert on the North Porch is the most special thing, period. The hugs, the warm "welcome home," the genuine joy in seeing returning guests, it sets the tone for the entire stay. Snow tubing was an absolute highlight. It was faster than expected and the spinning had us laughing the entire way down. It was the perfect mix of adventure and pure fun. Dinner in the Windsor Dining Room was the centerpiece of the weekend as we celebrated the birthday. The space is elegant without feeling overly formal, immediately setting the tone for a meaningful evening. The food was exceptional, beautifully presented and thoughtfully prepared, with flavors that felt refined but never fussy. It felt like an experience rather than just a meal. Carlo, the dining room manager, is simply chef's kiss. He made sure we were completely taken care of and that the celebration felt personal and seamless. Our server for Saturday night's dinner, Jen, matched our vibe perfectly. She was warm, attentive, intuitive, and made the evening feel effortless. We also enjoyed a couple of casual meals in the Tap Room, and it deserves recognition. The food has noticeably improved over the years and continues to get better. Overall excellent stays across multiple years. Dining is good, pricey side. Activities are top notch including for families especially of teenagers including golf, tubing, ax throwing, fishing, etc. Do NOT go skiing. It is a glorified bunny slope for $50 per person but if you're trying to learn skiing might be a good option since few people are there. Golf courses is high quality, we forgot a club and they mailed back to us which is a 5+ star review. Tubing is good but you'll be tired of it within 30-45 minutes. Just very laid back if desire or can be active in multiple ways throughout your stay. New indoor pool is nice but tons of kids on busy days and will be loud. If the skiing wasn't so overpriced and sad would give 5 stars with number of activity options and staff quality very high. read more

Absolutely unforgettable stay at Skytop Lodge in the Poconos!!! My boyfriend and I just got back, and we're already talking about when we can return. From the moment you walk into Skytop Lodge, you're wrapped in a warm, cozy feeling that instantly makes you feel at home. From there, the experience just kept getting better. Shay at the front desk greeted us with such genuine warmth and kindness, it immediately set the tone for our entire stay. We felt welcomed, taken care of, and excited to explore everything the property had to offer. The property itself is absolutely stunning and truly worth taking the time to walk around and explore. Everywhere you turn, there are beautiful sights to see, making even a simple walk around the grounds feel special and relaxing.The space is beautifully decorated with fresh flowers, adding such an elegant and welcoming touch. To make it even more special, my boyfriend surprised me with a gorgeous floral arrangement downstairs, and it was absolutely stunning such a thoughtful and memorable moment that made the trip even sweeter. One of the biggest highlights of our stay was the dining. We enjoyed three incredible dinners, all right on the property, and each one was outstanding. We dined at The Windsor, The Lakeview, and The Tap Room, and every meal was delicious with its own unique atmosphere. At The Lakeview, Annmarie truly stood out she was full of personality, attentive, and made our dinner feel fun, relaxed, and memorable. Breakfast each morning was truly incredible and quickly became something we looked forward to waking up for. The spread offered a wide variety of options, so there was something for everyone, and the chef making the omelettes was so kind and personable. The omelettes were made to perfection and absolutely delicious! A perfect way to start the day. Skytop also does an amazing job offering a weekly schedule filled with activities, so there is always something to do. We took advantage of so many of them, including snow tubing, yoga, ice skating which was an absolute blast and had us laughing the entire time. One of our favorite activities overall was indoor ice skating. Chris was absolutely amazing. He greeted us with a smile and was so friendly and welcoming, which made the experience even more enjoyable. We also spent time relaxing at the pool area, which was a perfect balance to all the activities. The hot tub was amazing and incredibly relaxing, and the huge swimming pool was beautiful and spacious, making it another great spot to unwind and enjoy the lodge. At night, we loved winding down at the Library Lounge, which quickly became one of our favorite spots. The drinks were incredible, thanks to Lester and Alex, who were both full of laughs and personality. They created such a fun, lively atmosphere and made every night feel like an experience rather than just grabbing a drink. Skytop Lodge truly blends relaxation, adventure, and exceptional service. Between the stunning property, fantastic restaurants, incredible breakfasts, endless activities, relaxing amenities, thoughtful details, and staff who clearly love what they do, this trip was everything we hoped for and more. We just took my whole family to Skytop and we had a fantastic time. The facility is really nice and there is a lot to do. Our kids were always on the go with the ropes course, paint ball, family feud, bow and arrow tag, swimming, etc... The restaurants were surprisingly good. I was worry that the food would be so so, but everyone really enjoyed their meals. The staff were very friendly and helpful. If you are looking for a fun time, this is the place. read more

This was one of our favorite trips this past summer! The only negative was the gym.. I feel was stuck in the 1960s still..But I think they are renovating it now. The grounds were lovely and the gardens and the outdoor pool. The room was very comfortable with a great view. We wandered up to the roof for the skytop view and that was cool..though the walk up was creepy... with a door that said 'Mr P's closet' or something like that! ;) Possibly haunted hotel as our TV turned on and off once. Great for kicks!! Best tea and cookies ever. Make sure to get there at tea hour! I asked what brand they used and I was only told 'black'. It was black tea but I would love to know the brand as I can't find a tea that good. Great activities, walking trail and night time s'mores. Love the tennis courts and kids love the arcade and ping pong. Food at the outdoor patio was very good one day- the soup and burgers but the next day was not as good. Very good coffee shop. So by chance, my husband and I came across this hotel in a pamphlet of another hotel. We have zero complaints about this hotel. It was BEAUTIFUL. And I'm not sure why it doesn't have close to a 5-star rating? The service is spectacular. One person that stands out to me was Jermaine, he's a cook in the kitchen - who was so friendly and helpful while I was in the buffett. I needed help and told him "thank you so much for helping me" and he said "no problem at all, this is your home". That stood out the most to me, but there were others that were extremely courteous also, I just don't have their names. Just the whole vibe is so historic and elegant. Has kind of a "victorian" vibe to it, even though it was built in 1928. They have endless activities each day, which they have a schedule on what activites are when, and many of which are free. We were able to go on a wagon tour and history tour. But book early because it will get full and you can't go! The shampoo/conditioner/lotion they give you is in cute bottles and has a distinct smell. But if you don't like hint of tobacco, bring your own toiletries because it definitely has that scent in it. They have so many activities for adults and kids, from archery, to arts and crafts. They have an "adventure" type course, multiple trails, they have two waterfalls you can hike to, they have another building on the property that has a blow up playground in their man-made water called "wisit" or something like that. It's worth it to get the package with breakfast because the buffet is incredible. It's definitely not your typical continental breakfast. They had cold salmon, capers, breakfast potatoes, etc. Although, one thing I will complain about actually - they had all their bagels/breads near one another, and they had mesh food covers that didn't cover the food properly. So flys were ALL under it. It was really disgusting. They need another system. We had such a great time, I just wish we stayed longer at this breathtaking place. But no doubt we will be back. I highly recommend this place to someone wanting a weekend getaway, and to do something new. I hear that Christmas time is a fun time to check out, but I can't imagine there is many things to do outdoors around that time. There is much to like about this resort, a throwback to a bygone era, but overall, in a good way. There are also some serious drawbacks dragging down the compelling positives. We checked in on Saturday, during an off time for this type of resort. Someone else made the reservation for us, and a very nice porter helped us with our luggage. We were ushered into a pleasantly updated but very small room. There was nowhere comfortable to sit except on the bed, there was a tiny munchkin desk with sufficient space for a laptop, after we moved the Keurig into the closet. I could barely fit my knees under the desk. There was an armoire in the corner, which housed a small TV, mini fridge, and a good size safe. Because of the limited space, the armoire was placed at an angle to the corner to face the bed. This made it very difficult to maneuver past this bottleneck as there was only 18-20 inches between the armoire and the bed. The view was fair, a partial view of the lovely lawn bowling area and a significant view of a roof. Normally I'd request a change of rooms, but since the reservation was made for us, we stayed. That said, I found out that occupancy was low on Saturday, at only 68%, and the hotel was very quiet the following two nights. Meaning, it would have been much smarter for the hotel to provide a larger room with a chair or a couch upon which to sit, because anyone staying in our modest room would not have a great experience! After all, there were a plethora of these rooms available. Upon checking out, they asked about my stay, I noted the dissatisfaction with the room, and the front desk said they would have been happy to move us. But... why go there? Why not start off on the right foot? Another drawback was the HVAC. It was unseasonably warm during our trip, and our room faced the afternoon sun. With the windows open, the room temperature was 77 degrees. Why not turn on the AC, you ask? It's an old hotel, so you have two choices, heat or air conditioning, but not at the same time. Hotel AC gets turned on later in the season. Meaning, our room was uncomfortably warm in the afternoon, the hotel staff should have been aware of this. The grounds are beautiful, and the hotel offers so many activities. We tried lawn bowling (similar to bocce ball), axe throwing at $30 per person (a blast), afternoon tea and cookies are also free (fun to watch all the children go wild) and hiking (check out their beautiful lake loop) and we went for a swim in their indoor pool. They also offer arts and crafts, face painting for children, a game room, live music in the evening and a beautiful porch with rocking chairs. There is a golf course, playground, boating, shooting and an outdoor pool. So many things to do! There are somewhat limited dining options, and they are not all open at the same time. The Windsor is on the main floor, and it's a lovely white tablecloth restaurant serving breakfast and dinner. The only option when we stayed was the $25 breakfast buffet. Both our breakfast and dinner here were very good. We were less impressed with the Taproom bistro which was egregiously slow the first time we dined there (about 50 minutes to get our dinners), and we found the food to be average fare. It's open for lunch and dinner. The Corner Roast serves coffee and pastries in the morning, the only other option for breakfast in the hotel. The Market serves sandwiches, which we enjoyed, and offers seating inside and outside in a lovely courtyard. We didn't try Lakeview, which is in their Inn, a few minutes away. I'd rate this resort overall at four-stars but must round it down to three-stars for an uncomfortable room and some dining issues. I'd suggest my fellow Yelpers make sure they get a comfortable room before settling in here. And if you have young children who go to sleep early, make sure your room is located far away from the lobby area as the music can be very loud until 10pm. read more

Wow, what a great surprise! Even though I've owned a place in Bushkill, just 45 minutes away, for 10+ years, this was a revelation! The property was beautifully maintained, many spots to chill out, attentive service, quality furnishings in the cottages. The breakfast buffet was one of the best that I've seen in a long time- great variety: fresh fruit, smoothies, etc, cereals/oatmeal, lox, breads and muffins/ desserts, fr toast/ pancakes, scrambled eggs, shashuka one day, huevos rancheros the next, bacon/sausage etc. And omelet station! Impeccable service. Top notch. We enjoyed golf- hidden gem in Poconos. Excellent conditions, nice layout, good pace of play. Nicest fairways that I've played- in years-and I belong to private club in Bucks County. Friendly, organized staff. Senior rate of $40 midweek? Great value as well. Lotta opportunities to kayak, swim, archery, etc- saving for next trip. Should be amazing in the fall! read more

Excellent family friendly resort full of activities for young and old alike. Beautifully decorated in the main salon and throughout with holiday lights and cranberry sprays. Warm fireplaces throughout to make you feel even more like you are in a mountainside retreat. Several good restaurants all located inside offer some great meals and one is a sports-like beer haven that you can take in the game. The staff here is their magic. Everyone is friendly and helpful. From the counter staff to the cleaning crew, everyone we met here all looked and seemed to really want to be here. The grounds are sprawling and there are shuttle service buses provided to get you to all of the different services and activities. Snow tubing, beginner skiing and shooting range as well as a host of others are available here. An adults- only bar area will help those without kids enjoy some peace and quiet. And for the kids, there is a game room and an ice cream store that is sure to please. Camelback for skiing and Mount Airy Casino are close by as well by car. I'm afraid what the heat bill looks like here as all of the turn-of-the-last century windows leak like a sieve. It adds to the charm but watch where you sit to avoid the drafts. read more

I was at this resort for work and have to say the resort looks like it's from The Shining! It's a pretty old resort and they kept most of the original foundations. It's a huge resort with a large land. They have lot of different activities from ax throwing, lawn bowling, hikes, indoor and outdoor pool, hay rides and golfing. I find this resort is for older retirees. All in all it was a great resort to visit and very relaxing. Tips: it's a older resort so some rooms have no access to elevators. I was on the mezzanine floor and had To lug my suitcase up a set of stairs Food: Food at the resort was mediocre at best. Nothing special . Rooms: Rooms were a bit outdated but clean. I had a nice view of the golf course. I went when it was May so they haven't turned on the AC it was super hot. I had to open the windows. read more

We booked Skytop for Martin Luther King Jr weekend. It was our first time. We noticed a Groupon butt weren't able to take advantage of any of the deals bc they were only valid during the week. I think the MLK jr weekend was a bit oVerpriced but overall we had a great time. It was a very snowy and very very cold weekend anD I feel Skytop was the perfect place to be for that weekend. They have an indoor pool and jacuzzis. They have floats food kids and locker rooms that are clean and have hair dRyers and showers. No need to bring towels along because they have lots of them! The gym is smalL but it's fine wit state of the art equipment, water cooler, towels and TVs. We got. A package that includes ice skating, snow tubing anD breakfast buffet. The breakfast is totally worth it. Ice skating and tubing were also bc they are not timed and both had great staff and solid equipment. We dined at the Tap room which was fine. I am only givinG 4 stars bc I had booked online inn the main building. When they called to confirm they told me that I HAD to pay for a larger room because I had a child with me and the room ai booked only accommodated 2. I begged them to charge me more for having my son of course by ut to please llego me in the same room. They said that due to fire hazard I NEEDED a larger room in another building that includes a mini sofa that converted to a bed for my child. I told them it wasn't necessary but they made me change rooms. The cabin was coo for table and secluded with a lovely view of the tree se and snow, however, I it was a bit of a pain to keep going to the main building (outdoors) in the snow and cold for eVents, shows, meals, indoor pool etcc. ThEY said their shuttle coulD pick us up and drop us off but the only time we called the front desk to book the shuttle, we waiteD over 20 minutes so we just GWB up and drove to the main building. Im the summer it wOuldnt be that bad bc you could walk but with snow it was tough. We really did enjoy our time there and look forware to trying it again on a less expensive wknd and I'm warmer weather to try the outdoor amenities likE outdoor pool. Bike riding. Walks, hayride. 5 stars for the Bar 2 stars for the Windsor. It had been many years since I was last at Skytop, but we decided to drive there for dinner one cold winter's night. The dining room had been renovated with new comfortable chairs, but the lights were too bring and white and the renovation choices made the setting, which used to feel like the first class dining room on the Titanic, felt more like being on a modern cruise ship. The real problem was when the alt rock cover band started playing in the lobby and overwhelmed the classical/light jazz that was still playing in the dining room. They finally closed the doors (though we got up twice to do so that night despite being 30-40 feet from the main door). Every time the door did open it was like a wave until the doors closed and it reseeded back to a strong undertow. Don't get me wrong I like Coldplay as much as I like Coltrane I just don't want hear both at the same time. The menu was not that extensive especially considering a few ingredients seem to dominate multiple dishes. The salads were good with large portions served in even larger bowls. The risotto was gluey and comprised of inconsistently cook arborio overall lacking in depth of flavor. At $100+ per person (we didnt drink much since we were not staying over and they didnt really try to have us order more) we were expecting a better experience and meal. The staff were very friendly and attentive, but glasses (including water) were left empty on the table for a long time. It's hard to not write a great review because it is clear they are trying; though it seems like they don't know if they are trying to be an elegant, fine dining setting or something trendy. Unfortunately trying to be both 1930s and 2020s results in it feeling more like the mid 1990s. Where they have succeeded, is the lobby and bar which were renovated since the last visit as well, but retained the old elegance and charm with restored gas, fireplaces, and comfortable seating. Next time I think we would just go for drinks. read more

The resort offers a relaxing and beautiful atmosphere. The lodge and grounds are well kept and have an historic charm dating back to 1928. We had a "premium king" room and it was perfect for two people. I imagine the standard king room is too small for two people. Our room had a king size bed, desk with chair, loveseat, side table and a mini fridge/safe combo. It was clean and everything worked as required. We did several activities over our three days consisting of the tree top rope course, bike ride, archery, hiking and the hay ride. This resort would be ideal for a wedding or family reunion. As a "vacation" spot, it's a little lacking. I think unless you are into golf you will be bored. Three suggestions that would improve this place: 1. PLEASE: post the price and schedule of activities on the website and add a feature that lets guest sign up and pay for activities online. The current method is to call guest services and sign up that way. Then you pay at the location of each activity. This is quite unnecessary and annoying for guests. 2. Offer free coffee in the lobby, along with the free water. Most commercial hotels have 24/7 free coffee. Not a big ask. I noticed a lot of couples go here to unwind and are often working on their laptops out on the porch. The porch is great but there are no outlets or tables. It's also outside. My girlfriend and I loved our long weekend away at Skytop lodge. When we arrived, the lodge felt like something out of the Victorian English countryside, beautiful and scenic. And I'll admit, I was worried about not having the creature comforts of a modern hotel while at Skytop because the lodge is a historic building. Like any older building, Skytop has its quirks, but I see them now as part of the charm, which no other modern cookie-cutter resort can provide. With that classic appearance, the lodge still has modern comforts that are usually hard to come by in older homes (like good WiFi, Air Conditioning in the room, rooms that feel fresh and clean). The service only reinforced the welcoming atmosphere of this elegant lodge. We came to Skytop Lodge with the purpose of disconnecting and slowing down. Mostly, we brought a lot of books and I brought a notebook for writing. Skytop provided lovely views and comfortable nooks to read and relax. We loved our food options as well. My girlfriend is vegetarian with a nut allergy and I have a gluten sensitivity. As you can imagine, we sometimes struggle to find something that we each can have at a restaurant. However, every place at Skytop was accommodating! We didn't have an issue finding good food here. One of the highlights was on Sunday night, when most of the families take the kids home. It felt like we had the entire place to ourselves. We got drunk on mules and spent all our cash at the arcade bike racing game. Absolutely recommend that for a fun time. Definitely hope we get to go back another time soon. read more

From all the extra curricular activities to the tasty dinners with gorgeous views, Skytop Lodge made our anniversary stay unforgettable. When you first arrive on the property, it's like the opening scene of a movie, as the beautiful mansion reveals itself as you come around the corner of the winding driveway. Most of the staff was extremely helpful and made sure that we had a great stay. We really appreciated the care and the traditional charm on this historic building. The restaurants we would probably rate a four out of five, but the overall experience I would say, was five stars. read more

The property and lodge are absolutely awesome to look at . We very much enjoyed the architecture of the buildings and the history! The hiking trails are expansive, and the activities are awesome. Now the reason for 3 stars: To be clear 3 stars for me is a neutral rating not good or bad. It was disappointing to find a little note next to the thermostat which said that this is an old building so the staff must choose heat or cooling for all guests. It was 76° in our room when we arrived, and the only way to cool it down to 72 was to open all of the windows. If you'd like a cooler atmosphere, beware, this was not explained prior to arrival or in any literature. The inn is a newer building, so we figured it may be cooler so we took a walk down there but the interior temperature was 76. I'm sure there is more control in the individual rooms. It we did not stay there. The hot water in the shower was marginal at best, and the water pressure was extremely low. Additionally, the tub filled up about halfway with water when taking a shower. I removed the drain cover completely, and it was full of disgusting hair, so some maintenance may be necessary. Valet parking services, bell hop, and luggage carts were not available upon arrival at 5 pm, but it was not a big deal for us. When we left in the am bell hop service was available. The website had many in accuracies, so I highly suggest calling to verify event times, and services that are available prior to arrival. We would return to visit the property and partake in activities but in my opinion it's not worth the rate to stay overnight. read more

Skytop is a beautiful place to spend the weekend. We rented the cabins by the stream and really enjoyed the location. The stream sounds beautiful and was a great spot to do some morning yoga each day. The facilities are classic, historical, and beautiful. We did lots of hiking and had really fun time being outdoors. The campfires that the staff will build for you around the resort is such a wonderful touch the family consider around and talk and stay warm and it was really nice. Been here a while back and would say it was an unpleasant experience. Dining was mediocre and chicken I was served was actually raw. Had to send it back to kitchen. Did horseback riding and we went uphill and downhill and the horse went into a run and nearly buckled me off. Would absolutely not recommend on the two safety issues above. If it was not that we visited here right after our honeymoon, would prob have pressed a lawsuit on the equestrian issue alone. read more

I am admittedly biased -- my daughters are the fourth generation of our family to vacation here, and even though I now live in California, Skytop holds a special, unique place in my heart, and in my life. There is literally no place remotely like it anywhere, and I've stayed in resorts and hotels everywhere from Singapore to Boston. Skytop is a classic, in every sense of the word. Skytop is a reminder of a slower, gentler, quieter time. When it was founded, families from New York, Philadelphia, Washington would spend the summer there, with the father/husband coming up for a week or two as a vacation, and on weekends. It was, and is, a family resort, built and run for people who wanted to get out and do things during the day -- golf, tennis, hiking -- have dinner, and go to sleep. If you want to drink, or party or see and be seen, this is not the place for you. If, however, what you want to do is relax, slow down, and perhaps reflect, then it is. Once the Poconos were full of resorts like Skytop. Now, it's the only one left. I cannot think of a happier, more restful and more pleasant place anywhere. The staff is amazing. The grounds are gorgeous -- the amount of sheer labor it takes to maintain 5,500 acres is unbelievable. And unlike big hotels and resorts I've been to elsewhere, Skytop is authentic, and very much itself. I've been to hotels in Asia where women in long dresses patrol the lobbies as a kind of decoration, because some marketing consultant told them to. At Skytop, when you pull up and the doorman opens your car door and says, "Welcome home", he means it. He's said it for decades. And most of all, you can find endless opportunities at Skytop to ... slow ... down. Sitting in the Pine Room reading a book with a cup of coffee. Fly fishing on the trout stream. Sitting on a bench next to the lake simply taking in the view. And for me, the absolute height of civilization is sitting at a table next to one of the windows in the Windsor Room in the winter, with a white tablecloth, a silver pot of coffee, and a croissant, looking out over the snow-covered gardens and luxuriating in a classic, simple, wonderful start to the day. I love everything about Skytop Lodge -- an AMAZING getaway and historical gem! For my 500th review, I wanted to post something special, and this is definitely a favorite and memorable experience - long overdue and worthy of a big review. I have been here different seasons, once for a birthday celebration over a holiday weekend. And had a wonderful time each time. Beautiful historical lodge with beautiful surroundings, countless things to do whether you want to relax, enjoy nature or enjoy planned activities. A Great escape from the city. For families, there are countless activities: beautiful hiking trails, golfing, activities including archery, sledding, snow shoe-ing. Scheduled daily activities and games: scavenger hunts, trivia, marshmallow propeller making, mug decorating just to name a few. Plus a pool and an amazing game room with a pool table, arcade basketball and a number of other games. A bonfire with marshmallow roasting each night. Offsite, nearby, another favorite of mine is the treetop zip lining courses. I am afraid of heights, so this is a challenge in overcoming fears but so much fun! Also a romantic getaway for couples. There are beautiful grounds and classy, comfortable lounge areas with fireplaces, three restaurants, and live entertainment on weekend nights. One of my favorite activities is a Bartending course. About a half hour long, customers learn how to make a fun drink like the Bees Knees. The food at all the restaurants is incredible. There is a casual pub type restaurant, an on site restaurant where they have thee most incredible buffet brunch in the Onsite Windsor dining area, and a Lakeview restaurant a few minutes away (via their shuttle or walking) with an amazing view and outstanding food. Besides nightly dinners they also have events including a wine tasting dinner a few times a year- which was out of this world wonderful with exquisite dishes and wine/ food pairings. My family and I ate Thanksgiving dinner in the main Windsor dining room. I have been celebrating holidays since the 1960s with my family. I was so saddened to see all the beautiful carpets taken out of the lobby area. I asked a housekeeper that was mopping the floor on Thanksgiving. If they were going to put the carpets back she said no because it's too noisy to vacuum. Why don't they use the old Bissell carpet, cleaners/sweepers they do the trick put the carpets back. It looks ridiculous. Everything is starting to look very cheap from the. from the plastic chairs on the porches to the polyester tablecloth/napkins, cheap, cheap cheap. On the plus side the staff is amazing FYI everything on the buffet was cold. read more

This hotel and the grounds is absolutely beautiful . The staff were so friendly and helpful , especially Robert the bellman he was very sweet and helped us out during our trip. Taproom burgers were awesome and the Windsor had a delicious breakfast buffet . Great spot for families and children . The arcade , playground , events , Icecream at the marketplace , swimming in the pool ,cookies in the lobby etc my son had a blast ! The hotel , rooms , pool were all very clean. The corner roast coffee was delicious the only thing I would say is that it should be open earlier for the parents who are up early with their kids exploring the grounds . Just spent a few days at SkyTop Lodge and couldn't have had a better time. Golf course was difficult but fun. All of the staff were attentive and helpful. Stayed at the main lodge and the front door bellman Robert was so nice, great conversationalist. Bruce the other bellman was also very attentive and a bright spot. All of the meals, from the Taproom to the coffee in the lobby, were great. I highly recommend this for a great family vacation. read more

The main restaurant is outstanding. It's a beautiful setting, in a beautiful building surrounded by beautiful grounds. So just walking into the place you already get a feeling that it is going to be a nice experience. Went there for my daughter's birthday we had a wonderful meal with wonderful service. My daughters boyfriend ordered some thing and they brought out the wrong meal I quickly ran over apologized and brought out what he ordered in the meantime allowed him to eat the meal that they brought out. I know what you're thinking, how is anyone going to eat two meals, he's a lot younger than me and he certainly did it! Of course they didn't charge us for yeah and it was a very nice thing to do so that he could actually start eating something while everyone else was eating. So, if you want to say that they made a mistake, I guess you can but they corrected it without even anyone asking. That is fantastic service. Now don't misunderstand me, just because he got a free meal doesn't make the place great. What made it great was the service was outstanding! The food is top notch! This was the second time that I've been there and both times the food is absolutely fantastic and do not skip the desserts because they have some wonderful ones. This is not a restaurant you go to for a quick meal the prices are probably a little bit on the higher side but the quality is well worth it. If you want to go out somewhere special, for a special occasion, or just a really nice meal, this is a great place to go. Make sure you wear decent clothes which means no hats and no sneakers but it does not mean you have to wear a shirt and tie. It's very nice to go somewhere where everyone looks nice. This is a place that I will go back to over and over again because I believe the quality is always going to be top-notch. If you are in the area of Lake Wallenpaupack and you want a nice top of the line meal it's going to be very hard to compare to sky top lodge. It is best to make a reservation before you go but I promise it'll be well worth it. read more

I would love to come back when the weather is not so rainy. The trails we did explore were lots of fun. Beautiful waterfalls. All of the staff were friendly and helpful. The building and grounds are lovely. Dinner at the Lakeview was exceptional. The one issue I did encounter was dealt with quickly and graciously. We were on the 4th floor on a rainy night. The architecture is such that the rain was pouring off of the gables and onto metal window frames. After three hours, I could not stand the surprisingly loud pounding noise. The front desk immediately allowed me another room which was quiet and I ended up sleeping well. Lesson: If you are a light sleeper and it is raining, stay away from the 4th floor, and you are likely to have an absolutely lovely visit! read more

My partner and I had a long weekend for our anniversary and loved our time here. The staff is incredibly kind and personable. The grounds are absolutely beautiful and have many areas to explore and relax. We loved sitting and reading on the porch with rocking chairs, Adirondack chairs by the garden, and picnic tables in the sun. The food was wonderful and they were very attentive to my food allergies and dietary restrictions. We tried the lawn bowling and had a really fun time, and enjoyed the pool and hot tub. I would recommend Skytop to anyone looking for a change of scenery and beautiful views and spaces to relax. We will be coming back! read more

LOVE this place. Although I didn't stay here, we did use the adventure center and have dinner in the downstairs bar called the Taproom. The lobby is AMAZING and the porches are so peaceful. We ate in the bar and the service was great and the food was even better! Do yourself a favor and get the burnt Brussels sprouts. Sounds gross but it was sooooooo good. We also got Thai chicken wings and they were the best ever! I got fish tacos and they were way too spicy for me, but my boyfriend liked them. He got a burger but he ate it so fast, I couldn't even get a picture. The inside decor of the Taproom looks like a cigar lounge and is super chill. I definitely want to come back here again! The hotel has Avery nice indoor pool and hot tub and an outside pool as well. read more

The purpose of this email is to express our gratitude to Jennifer (Reservation Manager) at the Skytop Lodge in Skytop, Pennsylvania. We are a family of six and our family tradition was to always spend a few days around Christmas at the lodge. This past year was no different, however due to my medical issues I never made the reservation. Our children are all grown with families of their own and the little grandchildren we're looking forward to spend a little time with Santa Claus. It wasn't surprising that by the time I tried to make the reservation there were no vacancies. I kept calling the lodge hoping someone would cancel but no such luck. The resort has everything you could imagine from an indoor pool to exceptional food, toasting marshmallows and other activities listed on the daily schedule. As I noted earlier the resort was dressed to the nines with a life size gingerbread house and lights tastefully spread across the lobby not to mention a roaring fire and fresh cookies with hot chocolate. My last attempt for our little family reunion was unbelievably acknowledged when I received a phone call from Jennifer, the daytime reservation manager who didn't see our name on the reservation list. What Jennifer did next really caught me by surprise. As I mentioned the inn was completely full and with my MS I required certain accommodations. Somehow Jennifer was able to put my wife and I in the Presidential suite adjacent to my daughter's family room. Not only did Jennifer provide us a room but didn't charge us extra for the suite. The staff at Skytop have always acknowledged us by name and made us feel like we were a part of their extended family. As I mentioned this was a tough medical period for our family. This act of kindness was over and beyond what anyone has ever done for us. read more
