Needed a dinner recommendation and Spiro's was the winner. We visited the St. Peter's location on a snowy Friday night and was able to get seating without a reservation. Spiro's is the classic intimate experience for both small and large parties. Dishes are formal style with great music in the background. Our server was quick to take our drink order as well as provide the specials of the evening. Spiro's has a very diverse menu you would expect from prime rib to Greek and Italian cuisine. All meals were served perfectly seasoned and very good. Was pleasantly impressed with their service and reasonable prices. I look forward to visiting Spiro's soon. Upon entering we take a step back in time. The dimmed lighting causes quieter conversations. The table side service is fine dining at its best. We started with the Saganaki which was flamed table side to the delight of all. When our meal was served the entrees were each set upon the flame to ensure the meal had not cooled in the trip from kitchen to table. I want to start by saying don't be leery about the location because it is duct off behind some industrial buildings and I would've never found it had went googled it lol. Ok, so I've never been to the restaurant, I just ordered Grub Hub. The first time I ordered, I got the Pikilia, and I was blown away!!! I had been looking for a good Greek restaurant, and I found it! Such a generous portion at such an amazing price!!! I subbed the green beans for broccoli which was good, but the charbroiled lamb chops and moussaka were second to none!!! The dolmades were good too, after a pinch of salt. This, I HAVE to order again, and again!!! The next order I got the large Greek salad, which I was kinda disappointed about. The lettuce was mostly yellow and white, and the feta just tasted, off. There weren't a lot of toppings like only two small tomato slices. The meat was thicker and saltier than expected, but it was okay altogether. A little expensive for what I got. Waste of money & a mess at best. They had nasty dirty plates rotating in and out with clean plates and new food on their little stations. Reusing the same utensils to cook their little cheese in front of you. Then spraying chemicals on the table to clean when clean utensils and plates are right there. Once again Yelp directed me to an excellent choice for our dinner. We don't get to this part of town often so we didn't know our options. We were seated promptly. Deanne (spelling?) greeted us warmly right away. She suggested I taste the wine I was considering before ordering a whole glass. So nice. Wine ordered we turned our attention to the menu. Spiros is located in its own building with plenty of parking. We went on a Wednesday evening and were seated immediately. The interior is cozy and creates an intimate atmosphere. My dining companion and I both chose the smoked shrimp with grilled veggies and a twice baked potato. Our food was really good, flavorful and cooked well. Service was great. My wife, neighbors and I went to Spiros, St. Charles for Dinner. We have been here many times before and it is one of our favorites! We like to sit at the bar and called ahead for reservations. It is an L shaped bar and easy to carry in a conversation. We ordered our favorite apps Saganaki and the cold shrimp. My wife and I also split a large Greek Salad with Gyro meat. It was all very good and just the right amount for us. We have had a lot of other items from their menu and they are all excellent. I had the Angel's Envy Rye Bourbon. I had not had it before and it was excellent. My wife really likes their Old Fashions. They have a very good selection of bourbons and wines. If you're looking for the perfect date night restaurant (or any night, really), Spiro's Restaurant is it! The atmosphere is nice and mostly quiet until it gets busy. It has an elegant feel to it but not over the top. We ordered several dishes amongst our party. We got started with the stuffed peppers which I was very excited about since on the menu it said they were stuffed banana peppers but what was brought to the table was just regular stuffed bell peppers. It was good, just disappointed it was not the banana peppers which we love. 6/10 They also brought out plenty of bread and butter which we saved for our meal. Then we moved onto the mains. Dishes we tried were tried by all: The Gryo (9/10) - tender flavorful meat, the tzatziki sauce was creamy and just the right amount of tanginess and the pita bread was so warm, soft and perfect I'd have thought they just made it and perhaps they had. Pasta Corfu (9/10) = This was easily dubbed a table all around favorite - the pomodoro sauce was heavenly with perfectly cooked noodles and a perfect balance of tender harbroiled chicken, peppers, and mushrooms. Absolutely 10/10. We also had the Pasta Pesce (9/10) The cream sauce was rich and decadent, the linguine cooked to perfection with plenty of large shrimp. There was a perfect balance with the red and green peppers, spinach, mushrooms, and onions cooked perfectly and they added so much flavor to this pasta. Blackened Chicken Pasta (7/10) - This pasta was delicious, the blackened chicken could have used a bit more spice but was cooked perfectly and nice and tender. They also include a lot and of course the cream sauce was heavenly. The pasta was cooked a little more al dente than I like in this one - a bit chewier than the other dishes. For dessert we went with The Ultimate Triple-layer Chocolate Cake (8/10). It did not disappoint in its wonderfully rich, chocolate flavor - it was so good and it was huge - we were all able to share it. The only small thing we noticed is that it was dry in places, mostly the outside exposed areas. Even with that, we'd order it again because omg! Our experience was fantastic, the food was delicious and we will definitely be back! read more

We called and asked if they could accommodate three people in about 20 minutes and the lady couldn't have been nicer. We were very appreciative. We arrived and our server was less than attentive. I felt as if we were more of a hindrance to him. I guess it seemed that way more since he was friendly with other tables around us. it is unusual for me to write a BAD review, but as this experience has settled in, it has become apparent that the truth of our experience needs to be shared. It should be noted that our experience was on New Year's eve and we always expect a crowded, over-worked restaurant on that evening. So, our expectations started off a little low and the staff was able to deliver service that was lower than that. To begin, we were seated and within the first 5 minutes, a server dropped a serving dish full of creamer on the floor directly behind me. This lead to quite a bit of the creamer splashing all over the back of my leather coat (which was on the back of my chair). The server was a young man and he grabbed some towels and with the help of a manager helped mop it up and helped me clean off the back of my leather coat. I did not make a fuss as I didn't want to cause a scene. It should be noted that not a single "I am sorry" was uttered. We ordered our meals and then asked to have an appetizer added on. After a good time of waiting, the meals came, no appetizer. Food was "ok," the prices were ridiculous for being average quality. One of the twice baked potatoes was burned, black on the sides. Three issues, none of which received, an apology, nor an offer to make it right. This was our first visit and as we have shared with others, it appears it is not an uncommon experience. With so many options in the area, we won't be going back. read more

Me and my fiance decided to celebrate our 1 year engagement here. We could not have picked a better restaurant! Katie (or Katy, not sure) was our waitress! From this lone experience, anyone who doesn't have Katie is sorely missing out. The meat is tender and succulent, the vegetables are seasoned perfectly and ultra fresh (though could've been charred a bit), and the Tzatziki is a must have. My fiance ordered the Broccoli Pasta, and it was just so fresh and creamy, it was perfect. The ambiance was calm, sophisticated, and cordial. This is definitely a cozy restaurant on a cold January night. I think all of the flaming cheese keeps everyone warm! We started with the Saganaki (cheese on fire) and the Calamari. You should say yes to the cheese, pass on the Calamari, we could tell it was incredibly overcooked as soon as it hit the table. I had a Greek side salad and it was very good, I really liked the dressing. I was a little disappointed that it had one small olive. I love olives. I cut it up into 4 tiny pieces, to make it last a bit longer. There was also one slice of cucumber and one slice of a small tomato. Now, I'm not a lover of tomatoes, but this slice was nice and red, so I ate it. Overall it's a good salad. My entree was the Moussaka, and it is total Greek comfort food. It was really delicious. It was served on a piping hot plate. The top layer was fluffy and golden. I would have liked thicker slices of zucchini and eggplant, but that's a personal preference. My friend ordered the Pikilia sampler and it was a feast for the eyes. I definitely recommend checking out this placed tucked away off Hwy 94. Be sure to make a reservation! read more

We love Spiro's. Old school atmosphere. It feels like you should dress up, but it is surprisingly casual. The staff is always friendly. Sebastian was our server tonight and he was just terrific. Give that young man a prize for his great attitude and fun personality. The manager checked on us (a big deal to me). And then there is the food. I have eaten a bunch of stuff on this menu, and everything is top shelf. I ordered the big veal chop and that thing was absolutely perfect inside and out. The meal was transformational ... we didn't even notice the cold and dreary part when we left. We were there early, so we were able to take advantage of the "happy hour" meals ... soup or salad, entree, dessert and a glass of wine for a great price. We ordered, and as usual, we all shared. Saganaki ... the flaming cheese! If you dine at Spiros, and don't start with the saganaki, we should just leave! LOL OMG hot soft brandied cheese flamed tableside ... Deelish! Even the complimentary bread and butter rocks! :-) I was able to sample the soup of the day, very good, the greek salad was exceptional (the menu warns the olives have pits -- pay attention!). I tried the chicken parm, moussaka and broiled salmon entrees, all fantastic! Side note on a side dish ... the twice baked potato served with the salmon was sublime, a decadent culinary work of art! Desserts included the baklava, always a hit, and the traditional scoop of vanilla ice cream. What a way to end a great meal! The service was perfect as always, attentive but not intrusive. This place is amazing!!! The food and service is great. Don't let the greek name of the restaurant deceive you. The menu has a little of everything, they have pasta, steaks and seafoods. The music was barely audible so we can have an easy conversation with each other. They have plenty of tables and outside seating. They have a bar and a separate room for big gatherings. Our server, Katie, was amazing! She was very knowledgeable of the menu and so nice. She went above and beyond not only with us but with all of her tables. As an appetizer we had their version of melted cheese that they make right there next to you with the fire show and all. We ordered the seafood pasta and the sea bass. Martini and beer for drinks. They brought us a lot of bread, more than enough for just the 2 of us. Plenty of options for desert but we had the carrot cake and chocolate cake. Both delicious. The place is clean and inviting. Bathroom is clean and well stocked. Plenty of parking including handicap spaces. Opens at 4pm. We had a reservation for 6pm and it was semi full and a group was using the separate room. We came from out of town. We had a large party. Our reservation was at 8, but we decided to come early to sit at the bar while members of the party arrived. The staff were so accomadating in pulling chairs over for us while we waited. With the work of the staff a table was soon open. Addison made our visit informed always with a please and thank you. The sakad was fresh and refreshing. The vinaigrette was creamy and flavorful. The flaming cheese or saganaki was so delicious, visually appealing and tasty. While my spouse enjoyed the gyro platter , I loved the grape leaves with rice and steak. Our mouths watered with the triple layer chocolate cake and raspberry/white chocolate cheesecake. We were pleasantly surprised by how packed each were with flavor. Water glasses wete always filled and changes met with a smile. Beware of DIRTY DISHES!!!! We had a celebration of life recently for my brother that passed away. It began with a dirty greasy looking bread plate, followed by lip stick on a coffee mug. Which our server made a joke of asking if it was my brothers lip stick. This was followed by a glass with dried food stuck to the inside of it. All dirty dishes were easily spotted by us before using thankfully. And the manager found humor not concern in the dirty dishes. We were offered a gift card in the mail but after waiting several weeks we were told if we wanted a gift card to come and get it ourselves!!! Check your dishes before you use them. This place is a hidden gem in Saint Charles. Honestly it's as classy or casual as you want to make it- kind of in the middle. The prices are higher, but so is the service. John is an excellent server and is there a lot, so ask for him! They get down to business and have several staff helping out to fill drinks, being your food, and even heat it up an extra bit table-side! We recommend the cherry-smoked manhattan.
