We went to Fazzi's Restaurant in Collinsville, Illinois, today to celebrate a belated Valentine's Day celebration with my husband. The Service and Food were Outstanding!!! I am a Greek girl from Chicago and I know good Greek food! I can tell you that Fazzi's Restaurant has absolutely Delicious and Authentic Greek food!!! I had the Greek sample platter, with Pastitio and Spinach pie and Dolmades! We also had the Avgolamene Soup and we had the, Saganski Flaming cheese and Greek salad that had Greek olives and feta cheese on it. It was delicious!!! We enjoyed a FEAST!!! Don't tell anyone how fantastic this restaurant is! They don't light up their sign at night because they would have a line a mile long if anyone knew how great it is! It's a family operated place where the hostess might be a 12 year old. The waitresses are all family as well as the cooks, and you couldn't find a friendly group. Met 6 friends here for our monthly dinner gathering. Many of them had dined here previously so they all knew they wanted order a gyro plate. I think 5 of them did that esp knowing that they would have enough to enjoy it again the next day. Chicken piccata was my selection. The chicken was very tender and tasty. I was surprised at how much pasta I had along with chicken. Sauce was very good too with plenty of mushrooms and sautéed onions in there. House salad comes with the entrees. I ordered saganaki for the table and we all enjoyed that. They didn't renew liquor license after Covid so they allow you to bring in your own wine, which of course we did. When I first moved everyone told me to try Fazzis and so I did! My experience is only with take out so I'm unsure what it's like to eat in. Ordering is very easy online but picking up is confusing. You walk into directly people eating at the tables and there is no host stand so I wandered around and sat by the bar until someone approached me. Service was extremely friendly but picking up was just confusing. I ordered a soup and salad and it was $20 which I feel is a bit steep but nonetheless it was good! I'd return again for sure to dine in and experience the ambiance of this local spot. read more

Dad wanted to go here the other night after we left the hospital in StL. It is a bit of a hike up I-55, but he and mom had gone there on occasion, he said, and he liked their Greek Gyro Salad. Upon first blush I didn't think much of the place as it looked a little run down but it was clean. It did take a minute for someone to acknowledge us as the hostess station was not manned when we came in. Once they noticed us the hostess (who I think was waitressing as well) was pleasant enough and sat us at what was a pretty comfortable table. She took our drink order and came back pretty quickly with a Diet Coke and an iced tea. Dad ordered his salad and I opted for the Gyro sandwich with fries. I have to say, his salad did, indeed, look REALLY good and the amount of gyro meat they put on that salad was incredible! My sandwich too was packed to the gills with gyro meat and it was very tasty. The only thing I would change is to ask them to put the tzatziki sauce ON the sandwich instead of providing it in a 2oz cup on the side. I would also ask for extra, because I like it and gyro sandwiches can be a little dry without it. I was one of the better gyros I've had and while I'm not a fry guy I have to admit the fries were delicious! Their service is okay. She didn't totally ignore us, but I probably would have liked a few more checkins. If my dad wants to go there again, I won't fight him. ;-) read more

I love Fazzi's. It's very much so a "mom and pop" restaurant. The food is delicious!!!!! The staff is very nice. I went the other day and tried the Saganaki appetizer. They bring it out on a hot plate and light it on fire and say "Opa!" It was so much fun! And omg it was soo good. It's like a fancy fried mozzarella cheese stick shaped like a triangle. Their chicken piccata is so good that I cannot switch it up and try anything else as my main meal. It's lemony and garlicky and has artichokes in it. Fazzi's has a good reputation in our area as a family-owned restaurant with staff working hard to please customers. We decided to give the "Greek" part of the menu a try for a recent take-out experience. I appreciate the fact they have an online ordering system and good parking, and when I showed up, the food was ready to go. We sampled the Gyro Plate, Dolmades, and Greek Salad with Ribeye Steak. I opted for the Greek food and my partner opted for the pasta. His motto is "eat pasta run fasta" the gyros were to die for. The Dolma was also the best tasting Greek side that I've ever had. Sorry no picture of that cuz we ate it pretty quickly. Our son ordered the spaghetti and it was a thick noodle pasta which he loved. Absolutely no complaints from us. Our server was new and caused a little chaos but she's new and so sweet, so make sure to give her a break. Food was brought out timely and all the food was super fresh. Ugh. Ordered crabcake stuffed Sole in a garlic cream sauce. Don't make this mistake. It wasn't Sole. Likely cod. Big thick 1" tall chunk of cod with the crabcake spooned next to it and covered in a super bland heavy sauce. First and foremost, please don't "judge a book by its cover!" the exterior of the building is very unassuming and looks rough. However, once inside, you could see not only was everything clean and neat, but many patrons were enjoying their dinners and interacting with the friendly and efficient staff. This efficiency must continue in the kitchen; because my entrée arrived quickly and exactly as requested. There was no disappointment in the quality or quantity. Wow, we're these ever-great crab cakes. Many locals referred me here, and I can see and taste why. The prices were also very reasonable. The only reason for the 4-star was due to the exterior of the restaurant and the condition of the parking lot.
