My family was in town to visit grandma. We went to Broadway for lunch and it did not disappoint. The restaurant was busy, but our server Beth was great. We had fried mushrooms, mozzarella cheese sticks, burgers, Reuben, and a Philly cheesesteak. Everything was delicious. I ordered toasted raviolis to go, because I can't get them in Indianapolis. We had a large party of about 16 people and this place was very accommodating to us by putting us in the room to the right and allowing separate bills. They had specials on their Facebook page and on a white board. I was hoping to get one of the socials but discovered they were all fried so our waitress suggested the tilapia. It was enough fish for 2 people! I gave half to a friend to take home as leftovers. My father and I came by for a late lunch on a Wednesday and had a great time. The place was clean and has plenty of tv's to watch sports/news. The bartender/waitress came and got our order right away and brought our drinks out shortly after. I got a cheese pizza that was delicious thin crust and my father got the philly cheese steak and absolutely loved it. This must be the most popular place in Highland! We went there on the way to a local play, because it was close and we wanted a casual atmosphere. It was hopping on a Saturday night, but the service was still good and the beer was cold. At our table, people enjoyed the buffalo chicken sandwich, toasted ravioli, potato skins, philly cheese steak, chicken tenders and a regular burger. All received a big thumbs up, except the tenders, which had way to much breading and the sauce was not very good - in fact, they went uneaten and not packed to go. The place was very loud - no music, just a whole lot of people packed in and talking extremely loud. There were kids there, but it wasn't really a kids place. While visiting family in Illinois, we all went out to dinner at Broadway Bar & Grille. Our party of 15 was seated right away. Our dinners were cooked to perfection. It couldn't have been any better. Everything was so fresh and tasted wonderful! Our waitress was great, making sure everyone had everything they needed. Next time we visit, we will definitely eat here again. New to town and trying out new places. It was pretty full in a Saturday afternoon which was a good sign. There was only one server so we expected a little slower service. But the server was great and we were never waiting on anything other than the food, which did take longer than I think it should have (a turkey melt and a chicken salad). The chicken in my salad was also a little chewy, but other than that the meal was great. While my salad was giant and bigger than expected the turkey melt was a little on the smaller side. But the fries were super crunchy and delicious. Menu had a wide variety and everything ordered around us looked amazing. We will definitely be back. read more

Broadway Bar & Grill, the classy Illinois establishment conveniently located across the street from Dollar General and Family Care Clinic is the home of The self proclaimed, 'best Bloody Mary in town'. Despite the absence of the promised pickle spear, the Bloody Mary itself was satisfactory, garnished instead with the charm of an ever unpredictable soundtrack ranging from Johnny Cash to Abba. The frat boys seemed entertained, so I too embraced the orchestrated chaos. In addition to the drinks, our party enjoyed a variety of their gourmet options: BBQ burgers, onion rings, fried mushrooms, and the always enjoyed twice baked potato skins. Everything tasted to expectation but no exceptional praises or hurrahs were sent back to the chef. An average 3.5 for the Bloody Mary. (I fear for the second best in town) Another solid 3 for food A low 2 for toilet appeal And a boosting 5 for local flair, with the place packed and hollering at an impressive 3:30pm on a Saturday. Once again the food badly disappoints. Avoid like the plague. I've given up as apparently the little girls they hire aren't mature enough not to take a bad review personally. Maybe if the cooks gave a shit the food wouldn't suck or maybe if the owner hired competent help and showed up once in a while to see how poorly this restaurant is being managed. Go to 9th Street Cafe instead--at least there they read the tickets and don't serve things one is allergic to AFTER they have been told about the allergy. I give up on this place--the food used to be OK but the entire staff needs to be replaced with competent help. They are so wildly inconsistent here that you never know what you're going to get and the bartenders and cooks are just totally incompetent. I used to eat here 3-4 times a week a couple of years ago and I've written 8 reviews, but this is the last one. The place totally sucks and there are too many other places close to it that are so much better that there's no reason to come here at all unless you like bad food and PMS-ing barmaids who think they're the queens of the universe and you should just put up with their incompetence. read more

As a local highlander I eat here several times a month very nice atmosphere the dinner entrées are always very good the only thing that can be a little sketchy at times is the service.... This place is hit or miss. Our shrimp was freezer burned. The prime rib sandwich was mostly fat... Not meat. They also use cheap ketchup. We've eaten here several times and you just never know if the food is going to be good or bad. I would love to give this place 5 stars. Broadway consistently has good food for lunch. They are typically able to serve guests rather quickly. I enjoy their Tuesday taco specials they've recently started, although I wish their salsa was more interesting. I've ate here around 40 times for lunch with coworkers. The food is average at best, but it seems like every week the prices go up. I quit going when I would have to spend 13 dollars with tip for a normal lunch. It's always really cold in the winter, not sure if they like to use the heater. They also take no criticism there. We used to really like the Thursday and Saturday chicken special until the owner decided even though we paid extra that we couldn't get all white meat anymore. We don't eat dark meat so we aren't going back. I never understand people that are suppose to be businesmen that think it's ok to force the customer to take it or leave it. We'll leave it. read more
