This is one of our go-to places. Like anywhere, not everything on the specials are gems, but they have most items on point. If u happen to go on a night that that their stuffed cabbage soup....dont miss it. It's amazing and addictive!! Also, their fried chicken is awesome but will take a bit to make as it's made to order. No complaints here! The french toast was topped with cheese cake filling and fresh berries and a an ingredient that you would not expect. Let me begin by stating this visit was during COVID. It's a dive diner that serves up comfort food and has a staff straight out of Mel's Diner on Alice. 3 Stars is a good rating, it is stating that things are A-OK. I have just moved into the Godfrey township and am out exploring places to enjoy breakfast. I've driven by Round Table and have seen lots of folks dining under tents in the parking lot in front. Today when I arrived, all the tents were gone and folks were dining inside. To be honest, I was a little hesitate about going in, but bit the bullet and went inside. I was pleased to see they were spacing their diners out, staff was wearing mask and they had hand sanitizer available. They were following all the CDC guidelines. Good job. Being an old farm boy, who moved to the big city and is now returning to his roots and who loves biscuits and gravy was pleased to see them on the menu. I was really excited to see that they offer a plate with; one biscuit and gravy, two eggs and a choice of meat. Give it to me with bacon. For me this was a perfect little breakfast and at a great price. Add on a cup of black coffee and life is good. The biscuit was huge and fluffy and the gravy had a good amount of sausage floating within it. It was also seasoned mildly. Not overly salty, but it could have used more pepper. However, with the shaker on the table, I resolved that problem. My eggs were scrambled and kinda on the cold side. As were the bacon, but the bacon had wonderful flavor and was crispy. I'm confident that in future visits, because I already know I will return, that this little dive diner will be bumped up to more stars. Will I return? - I love eating breakfast out, so hell yes. Me and my boyfriend came here for brunch, it being a Sunday they were extremely busy. Yet we barely had a wait for a table. The waitstaff was amazing, they checked in on us constantly and were friendly about al our menu questions. I ended up getting the spinach and feta skillet with over medium eggs. Well, let me tell you, Service was great! Lee May waited on us , we enjoyed our lunch. Chicken wraps with honey mustard and sweet potato fries; for my friend and extra crispy fries for myself. Nice little breakfast stop - service was fantastic - she was quick, checked on us multiple times, and got the order perfect! I had the veggie omelette and asked for extra crispy hashbrowns which they did perfectly. My better half had the French toast and he said it was nice thick cuts and had a cinnamon sugar type topping on it that gave it a great crunch. I go here with the wife nearly every time we go out to eat which means we basically go here every weekend. There is no place I'd rather go to get anything. Only reason i would eat elsewhere is because they don't have it on the menu(which is hard to find because the menu is insanely large plus they always have a secondary daily menu). A couple of my favorites are the gyro, ranch chicken sandwich, Philly cheesesteak, and the country friend steak. Well people, I'm the one who told you how awesome their lamb was. Well, called on several occasions to inquire about the lamb since I apparently missed it when they served it for Easter. I was told right up till Sunday morning that no one knew if they were serving the lamb for Mother's Day or not until we finally found out that they were not serving lamb on Mother's Day even though a year ago they did! Anywho, we went on Mother's Day and I tried the bourbon steak that someone had said was sooo good. It was good BUT....If you are diabetic like me, do not order this dish! It was delicious don't get me wrong but it was severely overly sweet. The waitress told me that it was steak bites served with onions, mushrooms and bell pepper. Sort of like a stir fry type of deal over mashed potatoes. She did not tell me that the sauce was not savory but extremely sweet. I should have gone with the strip steak...but anyway. It was all good. I just quickly ate all the steak out of the dish and called it a day. I call for everyone who love lamb to call for them to fix the lamb shank dish and then maybe they will add it to their regular menu because it still remains my favorite in the whole wide worldl!!! read more
