Bluff City Grill was one of my stops on the St. Patrick's Day Pub Crawl in Alton. In my younger days, I could chug a green beer, but in my senior years it doesn't even sound good. So when the bartender offered me a green beer, I turned it down. She then offered me a, Green Sangria. What? She then told me it was made with Midori and I was sold. It was a refreshing green cocktail for the holiday. When you are partying on St. Paddy's Day, you need to snack to help balance the liquor consumption. Sticking with the "green" theme, I ordered some Guac Bites with a Sweet Chili dipping sauce. It's fresh mildly spicy guacamole wrapped in a won ton and fried to a golden color. It's one of my favorite appetizers here at BCG. They also offer a Cajun Ranch dip, but I prefer the Sweet Chili. The service is always fun and friendly, making your dining/drinking experience memorable. read more

ALWAYS, great food and service! The atmosphere is large yet still cozy with comfy seating. There's a great variety of American food!

As a local foodie and tons of experience in the kitchen I'm really disappointed in the quality of food here lately. The food supplier definitely needs to change (for some products) and the way some of the food is prepared. On a positive note, I believe it's a decent and clean joint with great staff. I think this restaurant is great for the Alton community and hope they can tweak a few things. read more

I attended with a large group and the staff were very attentive. I had the crab stew and fish tacos. Mom had white chicken chili and veggie stir fry. We will definitely come again. read more

Great place. You can either sit in the bar or the main restaurant area. Outside is nice during the warm season. The steak was decent, but I'd stick with the other entrees. My cousin Michael Selby loved the silverware. read more

An Alton must! We were in town for a fishing tournament and looking for a good dinner before heading home. Searched the area and found this place after seeing Bluff City Outdoors stuff all day. What a cute spot! The interior was huge, but the patio was amazing! Easy access from the road, parking wasn't terrible. Service was great, our serve was attentive and a manger stopped by each table to chat as well. Host stand staff was so cheerful and welcoming! Food was great from a huge menu- wide variety of options. Drink menus were fantastic as well! read more

Shrimp appetizer was good in size but it came out luke warm. Would've been better hot. The pasta was the same way. Wasn't hot. The cheese on top wasn't even melted. Also there was no cream sauce. And I asked the waitress if it was a white creamy pasta and she said yes. Every other place I've had this pasta was good and creamy. This was really bland, lacked flavor. Service was ok. She was nice. The place is big and has plenty of seating. Wish I could've gave a better review. read more

If you happen to be in Alton, Bluff City is a great place to meet up with some friends for lunch or dinner. It's a very casual and comfortable place where people were dressed up and dressed down but no one felt out of place. There's plenty of parking which isn't always the case downtown. A nice patio area, good drink specials, and solidly good food. They have some fancier entrees but we went sandwiches and they were great. I recommend the three pigs with tots and a Shinerbock. read more

I've been here a few times and enjoyed it both times. The ambiance is a lil upscale but also casual enough that you don't feel underdressed (even if you show up in sweats like me lol). They have a nice bar area and a dining room. I've sat in the dining room during all of my visits. Service has always been friendly and efficient. Their menu has a good selection. I really enjoyed the meatball sub and onion petals. I've also had the cheesesteak and really liked it. My friend that I go with has liked everything they've ordered. Parking can be hard to find if it's a busy time of day and the parking garage is very small and narrow/hard to navigate. I also don't enjoy that depending on where you sit there can be lots of traffic around you. Last time we were close to the door where the food comes out and there was constant movement with food going around us. read more

Bluff City Grill did a fantastic job of hosting my family's gathering by providing quick, accurate service and great food. I requested the crab stew and Alfredo over Angel Hair pasta and I'm glad that I asked for a couple of extra veggies to be added because otherwise, it was kinda lacking. Overall, check them out for their spacious hosting options and food. read more

We took my Mom here for her birthday dinner and she loved it! Pretty decor and plenty of tv's in bar room so we could watch football. Mom had baked chicken wings which she said were tasty. My boyfriend had the meatloaf special and I had the fried chicken special which were both hot and full of flavor. Our server was also the bartender in the back room where we sat and he was knowledgeable and attentive. We will definitely be back! read more

Server and chef were very helpful in accommodating my request as to whether no salt could be added to my mahi - he seasoned it differently and it was delicious. He also cooked my fresh green beans with no salt and did a pepper blend. We will be back. Hubby's cheeseburger with house chips was very good also. read more

Bluff City is a family favorite. Service was pleasant and attentive as usual and we had a party of 10. Menu now marks gluten friendly items - so helpful. The table ordered guac bites, fried green beans, onion petals, cheese sticks, and 4 different sauces wings. For me, i just had a few wings but they left no scraps of the rest of the apps. I had 2 of the GF marked items, a cup of chicken chili and the chicken club salad. Both were good. Nice drink menu - the pineapple cake martini was a fun treat! Restaurant is a bustling and family friendly. family read more

3/4 of the table ordered chicken fingers what they call stingers. The Cajun ranch is excellent and the stingers were good too. Large portion on the platter. I had the chicken sandwich with tarragon butter which was good along with a Caesar salad which I think the dressing was homemade. Service was quick and the server herself was very nice and attentive. The ambiance of the area was very pretty from the floors to the Christmas trees nearby. read more

It was our first time eating at the Bluff City Grill!! Our server was excellent! Very kind and accommodating! The manager stopped by and chatted with us. Had the beef tips with house salad. Very good. Service was excellent. Friendly staff and the manager did pop by to make sure everything was satisfactory. Definitely was satisfactory. The place can be a bit on the noisy side. They have done well with acoustic baffles though if they could fit more baffles in that would help. Still, not a deal breaker. Will recommend and will return. read more

This was my first time visiting this establishment . Went with 3 others on a Friday night around 6pm. It was packed. Several large tables of people. Our wait was about 15 minutes. Our server was very pleasant and attentive. However, it was so loud in this place we couldn't hear what she was saying and vice versa. I ordered the tilapia platter which comes with a side salad or soup. It was good but not fantastic. Good value. I'm not saying I'll never be back. However, this will not be my first pick of a restaurant while visiting Alton. read more

I live in STL, but about 15 minutes away from Alton, IL, so I frequent this side of the Missouri often. I've been a fan of Bluff City for several years now. Two Full bars, nice sized dining area, and for those who enjoy gambling, there's a comfy slot area complete with dining tables and a juke box. Bluff City offers a down home family feel great for Sunday dinners, watching the game, date night, or to enjoy a meal by yourself. Because I live so close, I definitely place to-go orders when I have a hankering for some wings and mashed potatoes. I would definitely recommend that you pay them a visit next time you cross the Missouri River. read more

Bailed on another place and landed here, awesome service for a walk-in on Valentine's day. Got the specials, did not disappoint

My wife and I ordered carry out last Saturday night. When I arrived to pick up the order, I waited twice as long as I was told I would for the order to be brought out. When I finally did receive it, the service could be called disorganized as best. The attendant forgot to bring a pen for my signature. So she had to return. In addition to that, my wife's ribeye sandwich was full of gristle. Needless to say, she and I both were not happy with the whole experience. I was willing to speculate that they were short of people, but this young attendant appeared to be untrained at best. Also, please do not tell customers over the phone that your order will be ready in 20-25 minutes from the time you ordered when it should be possible to determine whether it actually will or not. All in all, this was not a good experience. read more

First time in Alton and we were hunting a lunch spot when we found this one. Place was clean and people friendly. We were seated immediately as this olace has plenty of space. I did not snap a picture, but couldn't stop eating our appetizer long enough to consider it. This place majes fresh Fried Pickles that are better than any I have tried. They were still crisp and flavorful with a very light batter. Don't skip these folks, they are incredible. My wife and I both ordered sandwiches. I got the Three Pigs with homemade potato chips, she had the Pork Tenderloin with Fries. I have nothing but compliments on all. My sandwich was perfect. Tasty ham, fresh smoked pork and a Carolina Gold Sauce, 10/10, Wow! In addition they have a large bar and craft beer selection looked good. If you are in Alton, stop in! read more

Had dinner here last night with a couple friends. We sat on the upper patio which has a view of the river and Clark bridge. It was a nice evening to be outside and there was a wonderful breeze. Got waited on quickly, our server was quite good and checked back occasionally. I had the crab cakes with a garlic aioli drizzled atop. 2 cakes make up the order, they were the size of small pancakes, nice and crispy on the outside, the aioli went well with the crab cakes. Another in the group had the fettuccine alfredo, it came in a huge bowl, she took half home and said it had good flavor. The 3rd in our group had the beef tips, they came with a good sized dollop of mashed potatoes on top and lots of gravy on the meat, and they said it was delicious. Would definitely return, nice place to hang out with friends and break bread and enjoy cocktails. read more

The management is awful in this establishment! I called on April 17th because my cheeseburger was missing an extra piece of cheese i paid for and it wasnt cooked medium like i ordered it... my niece and i went in today May 1 to get eat and i let them know i had a comp... they ended up not compensating it and saying it was only for a piece of cheese, so of course i was livid! A piece of cheese? Really .. so a lady called me that i didnt even ask to speak to and started in on ME saying I don't know what you trying to do here but you already got 5.00 from door dash and now you're wanting more? What do you want us to do Jessica? I said comp me for what the girl said i would be compensated for originally.. and she said it says a piece of cheese and that's all... I was like why are you acting like im trying to get a freebie or something for a 15.00 meal.... and she said because it sounds like ya are. She was absolutely horrid. Like yea doordash gave me 5.00.. that doesn't cover my meal you promised to comp. What would I benefit from "lying" about a 15.00 meal! This may have even been the owner. Not sure exactly read more

Amazing!! The white chicken chili is a must!! Service was outstanding! Definitely coming back!!

Don't let the ambience fool you. This place feels like a cafeteria/bunker and smells at least as bad--I know, a bad smell should put you off like nothing else. But like most businesses in the area, it's a repurposed space, which is a pretty sustainable model and enhances the small town vibe. The service here was really friendly, and the food was actually pretty fantastic. My shrimp was not overcooked, and the tilapia was cooked to perfection. The menu also seems fo have a fondness for artichoke hearts, if that's your thing (it's mine). I also appreciated the unobtrusive sound panels, which masked a lot of the noise that would have made it feel more like a cafeteria. Overall, I was pleased. It's not great for date night, but if you can get over the off-kilter, claustrophobic ambience, you'll have a seriously tasty meal! read more
