First of all the place is so neat and lots of nostalgia. The pizza is the best I think I have had from any bar. Made in house even. Everyone is so friendly and the owners will tell you the story behind the place if you ask. What an enormous outside area too. Huge patio out back. The hotel attached is pretty neat too. read more

Abigail's Tap Room - Wine Bars Near Me - Grafton, Illinois

We spent two days in Grafton, IL and this was our favorite place for Breakfast and then Pizza in the evenings! The service was spot on! It was a nice relaxing atmosphere! I want to mention that PIZZA, again!! The pizza was EXCELLENT! We will definitely be back! read more

For such a cute building and initial atmosphere, I was surprised by the lack of hospitality and overall hostility we encountered. We were not met with a host but instead a man clearing tables, gruffly asking how many people we had without even saying hello or making eye contact. He told us we could sit where we wanted and that someone would be with us shortly. It was relatively busy, so when we waited about 10 minutes for someone to get us menus, we were not surprised or upset. We got our menus, and when we were ready to order, I asked if I could do grits instead of potatoes. The waitress looked exasperated, saying, "We don't usually do that, but I'll ask." I said, "That's totally fine." Then she asked, "Toast or biscuits?" So I asked, "Could I do an English muffin?" She scoffed, rolled her eyes, and tersely responded, "TOAST or BISCUIT." It took me by surprise, so I apologized, put in an order for a biscuit, and turned away from her. I assume she realized that her attitude was offensive and off-putting, so she then told us that they "don't do substitutions." This information is not listed anywhere on their menu, tables, or entrance, nor was it communicated outside of the waitress being belittling to the customer. We considered leaving because of how the waitress made us uncomfortable. However, we hoped that the food would still be good; we were sorely mistaken. One of us ordered an omelette, and the rest of us ordered the country breakfasts. The potatoes were not red skin like the menu said but clearly the cubed and frozen ones from the grocery store, so overcooked and dry that we could not get a fork through them, and there were no seasonings to be found. We ordered different types of eggs; the scrambled were done okay, but the over-easy were actually over-hard with no runny yolk, as well as bland with not even a hint of salt. The bacon was burnt, chewy, and had the oddest aftertaste that only allowed me to eat a couple of bites before I was put off by it. The sausage patties were tough, dry, and 'fake tasting.' I switched my biscuit for my sister-in-law's English muffin, which was upsetting because the biscuits were the only things that actually tasted good. The English muffin was store-bought, dense, and tasted old. This was our last meal as a group for my bachelorette party, and it made it end on such a sour note and literally put a bad taste in my mouth. TL;DR: Don't go, totally not worth it. read more

Came in here after a race right after 11am. It was pretty busy when we arrived but for the most part everyone had already received their food. When we sat down, we ordered 3 Bloody Marys and 2 fountain drinks and were then informed they don't serve lunch until 1pm. You heard that right! Eggs and oatmeal until 1pm! So the person who wanted the burger was SOL Instead ordered three omelets and a side of biscuits and gravy. Then we sat for an hour. No drink refills. No "sorry! It should be coming out shortly!" We were tired and hungry and really to call it a day. It took 10minutes to even flag down our waitress which happened only after she brought another table's food out that came in after us. It's easy to keep track when there is only about 5 tables with people in them. She then said they were just about done with our order. 5 more minutes (either it was impeccable timing or our order was lost for a short time). And they still forgot the biscuits and gravy. The hashbrowns were extra crunchy/overdone., The omelet and biscuit and gravy were good. Bloody Mary's were fantastic! But there are plenty of places in the area where I can get the same. Probably won't be back. read more

Horrible service. Never took our order after 30 minutes. Do not waste your time here.

We went in on a Friday night when most of the bars were packed and very loud. we had experienced elsewhere that night. They hosted a one-man band and he was fantastic. The bartender was super friendly and the pizza was amazing. My only complaint is that too much of it. It was warm and dark and intimate and that's one thing that only a small bar like that can do. I'll definitely be back. I need to mention the prices are more than fair as well and that they will go the extra mile to take care of you. read more

I went to Abigail's for breakfast last weekend in Grafton. The staff were friendly and worked quickly. I got the number 1, which included eggs, bacon, toast, and potatoes. I enjoyed the food, but it was pretty simple. There was also a hair in my eggs, so I did not feel comfortable eating most of the eggs. Could've been better, could've been worse. read more

Stopped in for dinner after work. Staff was super friendly! Food was delicious! Ordered the pretzel & beer cheese which is a must- will definitely do again. Hubby had the firecracker shrimp, which he really enjoyed. I ordered the border burger- so good, had a little kick but not overbearing! We even got a pizza to go for lunch tomorrow because it smelled so good! Will be returning for sure! read more

Not sure about the "large" portions, but the food was really good. Hubby and I normally split an entree, which we did here also. We ordered the fish tacos which were really tasty, but there were only 2. We ordered fries as the side, which were VERY good, but once again, not a very large amount. We also shared a cup of She Crab soup that was awesome good! The service was good and the way they've fixed the bar up and decorated is really nice. I'd definitely stop in here again, but keep in mind that the serving sizes aren't what I'd consider big. read more

This is a cool historic hotel and restaurant/bar. Lots of history! The food was average breakfast choices. It was ok. I had biscuits and gravy and they were not homemade. Definitely a mix or canned. Our eggs were prepared well and service was good for a busy Saturday morning. The owner is very friendly and made a point to greet people and visit while you wait. read more

Breakfast starts at 8AM Saturday. My wife had Ala carte biscuits and Gravy with scrambled eggs w/ sausage. Myself two eggs over easy, 3 strips bacon hash browns and toast. With drink total $21. Service was great, friendly even the owner check on us. Table clean, music was little loud and as people came in it didn't matter by 9:30AM place was full. 8AM best time to arrive. Food was hot fresh and I enjoyed it. Very well done the bacon was warm and crispy felt like I stole it from mom after she just took it off the skillet. Worth the money! Extra note: at around 7AM if you stay in the hotel you will smell the bacon and coffee in your room. read more

Holy moly, we are all stuffed! The food was awesome with large portions (weekend foods!). It all came out hot and fresh. The pretzel was surprisingly gigantic but oh so yummy. The fried guacamole was some of the best I've had. My blackened shrimp tacos were packed with goodies, and seasoning was just right (not too salty). All of the pastas were amazing. We were way too full to try any desserts. Lol The only issue was the ventilation system in the kitchen. It got smoky in the back by the kitchen. But the server was fantastic and the food was amazing. read more

We had a fabulous breakfast this morning as a family. The veggie omelet with sausage, whole wheat toast, and hash browns was amazing. Our waitress was very friendly. I would like to go back during a different type of day to try what they have at the bar and other foods read more

Granted, it was a very busy day when we went, but no hot tea, no refill on coffee. That said, the food was good and served warm, not hot. The server, though, was working her a** off as they were short staffed. read more

We were in Grafton looking for a place to eat and came across Abigail's, started to go inside then saw the sign that said no public restrooms. So a establishment that serves liquid beverages does not supply a restroom for customers to use will not get my business. Don't sound like a good business plan to me. read more

Came here after a day of zip lining and it was the perfect meal. The bar is off of the hotel but feel like two very separated spaces. The food came fast, hot and delicious. For an appetizer we tried the fried pretzel with house made beer cheese sauce, yum! And the friend avocado slices, double yum! Everyone in the group got a burger because we were told they would not disappoint and they did not. Absolutely would come back. read more

Saturday morning breakfast. Those who stay at the restaurant take preference to the "locals". I felt the owner was abrupt and rude. Since we are local I was excited about the new breakfast opportunity...... well, so much for that! Food was nothing special and just so so.... #disappointed read more

Stopped in for breakfast as it's one of the only places serving breakfast in town. They were short staffed, however the staff was able to provide a fast breakfast that was tasty and hit the spot. read more

I cannot go into enough detail how terrible the service here is. This place needs new waitresses. We ordered our food waited an hour and our waitress brings us our bill clueless thinking we had already eaten. She had forgot to turn the ticket in the kitchen. She also could not even keep water cups full. The business was not busy at all she just flat out sucks. I would for sure come back and give it another chance but ask to not have her. We ended up canceling our orders after our hour long wait so the food may be great I don't know. They just need a new staff. read more

Amazing restaurant! Stopped in on our way through Grafton and couldn't have had a more enjoyable experience. Catfish sandwich was fantastic. Amy, our server, was so wonderful. We felt right at home the second we walked in. Will make the trip again soon. read more

I just want to express our extreme disappointment. We got off the ferry and we're looking for a place to eat and have a few drinks. We saw this establishment and thought what a neat place, let's try it. We come in (6 of us) and are told to sit anywhere. We found a table in the corner and the table was dirty so I went up and asked for a rag to clean the table. The bartender came over and cleaned the table. Then a waiter came over and got our drink order. He brought out drinks and then we put in an order of appetizers and our meals. They brought the appetizers out and my husband ordered the beer cheese. The toast was blackened and so I went to the bar and asked the bartender if we could get some toast that was not blackened. So this lady brings him 3 pieces of toast. When there is typically 6 pieces. So I brought the dish back up to the bar and told them just to take it off our bill and we are done with that. In the mean time our drinks were empty and our waiter was no where to be found and hadn't checked on us since he took our order. So I went up to our waiter and told him we would like our checks. We are leaving. Next thing I know the lady that brought us the three pieces of toast, hands all three of the checks to me to distribute. I can't believe how we were treated and I never would have expected that kind of treatment from this establishment. read more
