They gave large portions, and the place seemed pretty classy, and was relaxing, but the food quality wasn't something I'd leave home for. I ordered fettuccine Alfredo and it seemed to lacked proper seasoning as it lacked flavor and tastiness. My salad also had some dark brownish spots it, so some of the lettuce was old. Staff was great! Service was good. It may have been a gem at some point, but it wasn't anything special.

Stopped here on the way to downtown Alton to get lunch. I had the striped pangasius blackened and the wife had the fried chicken. Both were good. The fish was salty and well seasoned. There was no need for the tartar sauce that came with it. Fried chicken was excellent. The breading was well seasoned and the meat moist. Service was friendly and quick.

Well, maybe I should've gone with the fried chicken? I ordered Chicken Provolone and it was good. But not really anything to write home about, except that it was a large serving size. So, I got another meal out of the leftovers. The salad was rather disappointing, only iceberg, lettuce and dressing. Nothing else. My cocktail was good, as was the service. We were seated in a back room, so felt a little removed from the rest of the folks?

Castelli's restaurant has some of the best fried chicken that I've had in a while, from the moment I walked in I felt so welcomed, I was greeted even before I had entered the restaurant completely, once seated the fresh bread was being sat on the table before I could take my coat off and that's when I knew I would love this place. The restaurant gives a late 80s early 90s appearance but was very clean. While you wait to be seated they have a bar area if you want a drink and also a few slot machines. The food was delightful and plentiful and the prices are reasonable. I don't live in the area of the restaurant but I'll definitely make another trip.

The staff directed us to our seats as quickly as possible. Our server brought our drinks and we ordered our entrees. The fried chicken and pasta arrived and both of our dishes were expertly prepared. We will definitely return!

Overall the food was decent. It was unseasoned for the most part and bland. The skin on the chicken was hard to eat and the dinner salad seemed like it came out of a bag from Walmart. The burger was good, as well as the ravioli and garlic cheese bread. But I do not think we will be coming back. We were very close to the kitchen yet our server did not come back very often or checked up on us after we got our food. I understand that the restaurant was very busy at the time and they were preparing for a bigger party. The restaurant itself seems like a fancier place that runs on its reputation. I believe it has been in business since 1937. It could be that we came on a Sunday for the reason of everyone else's fancy attire. Overall, I think this place is somewhere that is good for a burger and fries but not for its 'famous' chicken.

Very 80's / 90's decor, but very clean & well maintained & the seating is very accommodating and comfortable. The tables have very sturdy extenders which is nice when you have appetizers! The lighting is good for the ambiance, however overall the vibe would improve with some intentional music. My husband really enjoyed his steak! The appetizer sampler platter was HUGE! I had the lasagna (I'm not sharing a photo of it as I request over baked and don't want to misrepresent what the establishment would normally serve) & it was really good! Our server was very attentive. Our family of 4 did appetizer platter, 1 steak, 1 pasta, 1 seafood, 1 chicken meal and spent about $150 before tip. Overall, solid 4 stars!

They had a special grand re-opening last night, which I avoided. I knew the crowds would be insane, so I came for their first day serving lunch. I like how the ambiance is old school Italian. White linen table cloths and black linen napkins. The tables are protected it a sheet of butcher paper cut to the exact size. It protects that pretty white linen. As a centerpiece, they have tacky artificial flowers. Table would look better without it. My server was quick to greet me. I ordered a Pino Grigio as my adult beverage. When she delivered my wine, I said I needed more time to look the menu over. When she came back, I asked a couple of questions and went with the chalkboard special, Meat Cannelloni with Spinach Pink Vodka Sauce. It came with a side salad and a breadstick. I chose Bleu Cheese as my dressing. The dressing was thick, creamy and had chunks of Bleu Cheese. The lunch special had two cannelloni's filled with meat and overly covered in a rich pink vodka sauce blended with lots of sautéed spinach. The sauce had good flavor, they just over poured on top of the cannelloni. Luck for me it came with a breadstick to wipe up the extra sauce. My server was attentive. She checked on me a couple of times while I dined. Sonny the owner, was assisting servers and thanking guest for coming back. From what I have heard in the community, everyone is glad Sonny is back in charge. I think they'll be doing just fine.

We had no expectations but we were hungry. What a wonderful Plan B this turned out to be. It was mid-afternoon so the place was relatively quiet, in a pleasant way.Everything was clean and the dining room looked inviting. We seated ourselves and the waitress quickly came to take our order for drinks and food. She suggested the day's special, a personal pizza with two toppings, side salad, and a drink. It sounded great was was a real bargain so we both went with it. The wife ordered a simple cheese pizza and I ordered mine with sausage and mushrooms. In very short order, our salads were presented and they were delicious. The lettuce and vegetables were all very fresh, not the sad looking stuff you frequently see at other restaurants mid winter. Even the croutons were delicious, light and with just the right amount of crispness. Next came our pizzas piping hot. We both loved them .They came on a thin cracker type crust, my favorite, sauce was sparingly applied but tasty, and the Italian sausage on my pizza had wonderful flavor with just a light kick to it. My wife truly enjoyed her cheese pizza as well. We'll definitely be coming back. I'm tempted to try their Italian beef sandwich next time. It was highly recommended by the staff.

In addition to the bartenders, Tony's has an extra staff person behind the bar that takes care of food orders and keeps the bar glasses clean, too. That's good team work. The bartenders are masterful in their skills. I'm a classic cocktail drinker, so I usually enjoy a Martini, Manhattan or a Old Fashioned. I've also been know to order a Boulevardier and a glass of Cabernet Sauvignon. I have the Cab when I enjoy their Tuesday Night steak special. When I'm not super hungry and want a light meal, I do a house salad with Grilled Shrimp or a Shrimp Cocktail, or even a order of Oysters Rockefeller. I've even done the Wedge Salad with a side of Grilled Shrimp. Whatever I choose, I'm a satisfied diner. The hostess was very friendly in greeting us. We had reservations and were seated right away. As we were looking at the various menus, our waiter, Chad, approached our table singing Anniversary by Tony! Toni! Toné! It was surprising but we got a kick out of it. He was a great waiter and was very knowledgeable about the menu and his suggestions were on point. Chad gave so much attention to all of his tables and went out of his way to make it a great experience for everyone. For drinks, my husband ordered the Old Fashioned and I ordered the New York Sour. I'm a big fan of New York Sours and that was probably the best one I've ever had. Upon Chad's suggestion, we ordered the Royal Red Shrimp appetizer. It was delicious, especially soaking the bread in the amazing butter sauce. We both chose the house salad with their house dressing, which was really good. For entrées, my husband ordered the surf and turf (he chose the ribeye) and I ordered the Jumbo Sea Scallops with Lobster Risotto. He says his ribeye was cooked to perfection with a really nice butter sauce. The shrimp were really good but the scallops and Risotto were just ok. Overall, he felt it was a good dish. I have to agree about the scallops. They could have been seared better and on both sides. The Lobster Risotto was just ok. I probably would have appreciated it more if it actually had lobster in it. It took a little longer for us to get our entrees, and they were not as hot as I would have liked. We also were there during happy hour, which is daily. We ordered a bottle of wine for a great price. Overall, it was a great experience and we enjoyed ourselves. Looking forward to trying new things in the future.

It was after 1 pm and there were only 2 slices of cheese pizza in the case. The person at the counter said there were more pizzas in the oven and they would be up soon. It was worth the wait. The pepperoni pizza was hot and delicious even after traveling the 25 min. home. I told me wife about the deal and the experience..both being positive. Then, on two separate occasions, we went out of our way, while traveling, only to be disappointed because the deal is from 11 to 3:00. Today's experience...we arrived at 1:50 pm. We were excited because we were finally going to get the $5 deal. We went in the door and there was 1 slice of cheese pizza. I asked if more pizza was coming out. The gal behind the counter said no because it was a slow day and the pizza would go to waste. ( The lunch special was supposed to be valid for another 70 min. Any other restaurant will try to accomodate their patrons for lunch special up to and including 2:59.) There's counter person was not concerned about disappointing customers or even trying to show some empathy. We asked about ordering a pizza..."for here or to go"...."here"..."you have to order that in dining room". We discussed it while sitting and both felt that the person at the front counter need some customer relation training. Another person was working the dining area. She was very friendly. We placed our order for a 14" Classic Combo. It was ready in a reasonable amount of time. Our opinion, as we discussed it at length, is Rosati's has the best thin crust of all the pizza places we've eaten. Their sauce is a little tomato forward. They seem to care about the amount of toppings on the pizza. We did feel that the pie was light on the sausage. There was an ample amount of the other toppings including pepperoni. We noted the pepperoni tasted closer to bacon than the classic savory pepperoni flavor. And there was plenty of melty stringing cheese!!. I am really getting discouraged at the amount of money restaurants are charging for soft drinks. A 20oz soft drink costs the restaurant 5 to 15 cents for syrup and CO² and they charge the customer $3.75 to, in Rosati's cases $4.00. Ambiance...it's large and uses cold materials. Looks like a semi sports bar. Prices...on the higher end for pizza Wait staff...hit or miss... one good-one not so much. Food quality...(pizza) very good Lunch special...if you can get it, it's a great deal. The all important!! The left-over pizza is very good, cold straight from the refrigerator
