    Brunch Menu
    Steven B.

Sunday Brunch! As I got ready to write my review for this mornings Brunch experience, I realized I have never written one for all the dinners I have enjoyed here. Bad me, guess I'll have to come back and enjoy another one and write about it. Anyway, back to this mornings brunch. I started out with an Espresso Martini. Why drink coffee on a hot day, when you can enjoy a chilled and refreshing martini. I took my time reading the menu and changing my mind multiple times as I sipped the masterfully made martini. After finishing my martini, I was ready to order my entree. I went with the, Crab Cake Benedict. It's kinda a traditional Benedict, but with a couple of twist. It has the English Muffin foundation, but is topped with two crab cakes and the soft poached eggs on top of the crab cakes. Then they top it all with a "spicy hollandaise sauce" and top the sauce is topped with sprigs of Arugula. I love spice, so the spicy hollandaise made my day. The eggs were poached perfectly and you can never go wrong with crab cakes. I'm not a fan of Arugula, so I just politely pushed it aside. My second adult beverage while I enjoyed my entree was a, Mimosa made with pineapple juice. It was National Pineapple Juice Day (I follow food holidays) and who wants to drink plain ole juice. Like my espresso, I just created a cocktail. The service was top notch. I enjoyed my server, she recommended the crab cakes and I can see why they're her favorite. The bartender was cool and made two great cocktails. My food was brought out of the kitchen by one of the cooks and that impressed me. He was very personable. I'll be back to have dinner, so I fresh story to tell. In the meantime, look at my dinner pictures.

Another Black family later seated at the same table near the kitchen/service area while a better nearby table remained open.

We celebrated a graduation tonight at 1818 Chophouse in Edwardsville, and I've gone back and forth about writing this review because the food was very good and our waiter, Sam, was excellent. Professional, attentive, warm, and honestly one of the best parts of the evening. But something happened at the beginning of the night that did not sit right with us. I made a reservation for four. When our Black family arrived, the hostess attempted to seat us at what appeared to be the worst table in the restaurant. It was right next to the kitchen traffic and directly under the wall thermostat/control panel area. Meanwhile, there was another much better four-top nearby sitting empty. I asked if we could sit there instead, and the hostess immediately said yes. At first, we tried not to think too much about it. But over an hour later, that original table still remained empty while the restaurant filled up. Then eventually another Black family was seated there. At that point, all of us noticed the pattern. I quietly walked through the restaurant myself and realized those were the only two Black parties in the restaurant. Maybe it's a coincidence. Maybe it's poor training. Maybe it's one hostess making bad seating choices. But it did not feel good, and it was hard to ignore. I am posting this because I do NOT think Black customers should avoid this restaurant. The food was very good. The service from Sam was outstanding. But I do think Black customers should pay attention and advocate for themselves if they are directed to that table or another undesirable location when better seating is clearly available. I'm attaching photos so people can judge for themselves.

We were seated in a large Booth. Easy for younger people to sit, harder for older people to scoot around. We were in a corner by a door that was used quite a bit by employees bring empty boxes out of. We chose to come earlier in the evening. Our waiter knew the menu and specials very well. However, he did fail to mention a up charge for the Mushroom Soup as a side. He did remove a drink for that mistake to make up for it. One daughter got Alfredo and it was very floury tasting. Another got the mac n cheese and it was low in flavor as well. Though the kids portions were worth the price. All of the adult items were very good. Crab Ravioli Appetizer came with 4 Ravioli and was very good, but for the price I thought the portion was on the small side. Stuffed Pork Chop - Though this was delicous, it was More bone than meat. The stuffing, demi glaze and onions were very flavorful. Brown Sugar Braised Chicken - this was good though missing the sweetness of the brown sugar. Steak Medallion Salad- was absolutely fabulous! Cooked to perfection and very tender. There is plenty of parking on either side of the door, and there seems to be outdoor seating in warmer weather.

I've been here a couple times and really enjoy it. Staff is friendly and atmosphere is chill and upscale. The deviled eggs are outstanding and shareable. Six to an order and each one topped with a Lucious piece of pancetta. The shrimp and grits was sort of a miss for me. The dish lacked balance and too many things competing with one another. Way too much grits compared to the amount of shrimp. The bacon braised collard greens kind of drowned out the shrimp, and the garlic demi glaze just didn't bring this together. Shrimp & grits is a less-is-more dish. This wasn't bad, just not for me. The chicken Marsala, on the other hand, was excellent! Juicy tender bone-in chicken atop hand made fettuccine in a rich Marsala cream sauce. A really refreshing spin on a classic. Thoroughly enjoyed it. You can also count on fresh salads, bread, and seasonal soups. Haven't gotten around to the dessert menu yet. Probably not a bad idea to make a reservation. Definitely recommend.

This was my first time eating here. The atmosphere is so pleasing and serene, I felt so comfortable. My husband and I were out driving and looked up restaurants in the area, and this place had 5 stars, which we understood why when we entered. We came a little earlier than our reservation, which I highly recommend. We were seated immediately with no problem and greeted so warmly by everyone, including the manager. We were served some delicious warm bread with tasty and creamy butter to top it. My husband ordered the New York strip with delicious asparagus spears. The steak was prepared medium well. It was mouth watering and very flavorful, no need for anything to top it. I had the chicken Marsala, the noodles were hand made that morning, which I could tell. The pasta was very flavorful and delicious. The portion size was ample and I had the pleasure to take some home. We were so full, did not get a chance to try the desserts. We will definitely come back, especially for the outdoor music when weather permits. I highly recommend this place for romantic dinner or bringing out of town guests or just meeting friends for dinner. You will not be disappointed.

This has been a favorite Edwardsville restaurant of ours for many years. Today was our first visit to this new location, which is stunning. Dined here today for lunch but must return for happy hours and enjoy the beautiful bar area. Food is still incredible and service outstanding.

Sierra here, and you know I love a good steakhouse moment, especially when it's paired with even better company. Last night, my handsome gentleman and I indulged in a dining experience that was nothing short of exquisite at 1818 Chophouse. The Ambiance: Dim lighting, rich wood tones, and a candlelit table set the scene for a night of indulgence. It's giving upscale yet cozy--exactly what a steakhouse should be. Whether you're here for romance or just to treat yourself, the vibe is top-tier. The Food: * Prime Rib - Cooked to perfection, tender, and swimming in the kind of au jus that makes you want to sop it up with bread. The horseradish sauce? A whole moment. * Duck Breast over Mashed Potatoes - Rich, flavorful, and smothered in a sauce that had me doing a little happy dance in my seat. * Asparagus - Bright, crisp, and the perfect balance to all the indulgence on my plate. * Bacon-Wrapped Delights - Sweet, smoky, spicy, and straight-up addictive. * Bruschetta with Steak - Whoever decided to top crispy bread with tender steak, greens, and balsamic drizzle deserves a raise. The Drinks: * Espresso Martini - Smooth, creamy, and strong enough to keep the night going. * Old Fashioned - The kind that makes you sit back, take a deep breath, and appreciate life for a second. The Service: Attentive, knowledgeable, and just the right amount of charming because great food deserves great service. Would I come back? In a heartbeat. Chophouse is officially on my list of go-to spots for a luxury dining experience in Edwardsville. Until the next indulgence XOXO, Sierra

    Beef medallions and truffle fries

We had a nice brunch. We made a reservation for two for a bar room table but none were available. We were seated in the dining room. The ambiance was nice for brunch. Our waitress was very good, attentive without being pushy. We ordered cocktails. It took a significant amount of time to get our drinks. We had the appetizer of the Vermont goat cheese brulee. We both ordered the beef medallions with truffle fries. I ordered medium while my son ordered medium rare. Our food was brought out hot and fresh. The goat cheese brulee was awesome...highly recommend. Truffle fries.... Delicious. The beef medallions were a little salty (and I like salt). Mine were a little overcooked. But overall, we enjoyed the experience and the meal.

Went for my birthday and had a blast! The stuffed mushrooms were so unique and the highlight of our meal. I also had an excellent lobster roll and crab cakes. Excellent seafood and service. Even better, they knew it was my birthday and brought out the most delicious crème brûlée I've ever had. Definitely plan on coming back in the evening for their steaks!

I haven't dined in before, but was craving a french dip and saw that had one so I did a carry out order. It was 5 star hands down. The au jus may be the best I've ever had. For $16, including fries - this was a steal for amazing food. The meat was really piled on - I had half for dinner and will have lunch tomorrow with the rest!

We used to live in Edwardsville, so 1818 was always a special place for special occasions offering special food (delicious) with special (expensive) prices. They relocated to a newer location which I don't particularly care for. Feel like the tables in the dining area are on top of each other and the lighting bright. In the other spot, the restaurant had a moody and cozy feel without feeling ' close' to other diners. In our recent visit, I overheard all the guests' conversations seated near us. Server was great. Good was great. Restaurant was tastefully decorated for Christmas. We didn't get dessert or wine, so I was pleasantly surprised the meal for two was less than $100. The visit before was my husband's birthday. They brought dessert with a flaming candle. Would have loved a slice of chocolate cake instead after seeing a child get THAT for his birthday celebration. Steak is always tender and prepared to your specifications. I usually order the brined chicken which is very flavorful.

I think it is the proper place to sit when dining alone. No need to tie up a larger table for just me. Let the server have a larger party and make a bigger tip. Once I had, The HOB Chop with Truffle Fries and a Caesar Salad. My salad was typical fare, Truffle Fries were crisp on the outside and the inside was hot and fluffy. The star definitely was the chop. It was super tender, juicy and seasoned well. I'd order again. I have also stopped by a couple of times, just for a cocktail and appetizer. Once I ordered the, Prince Edwards Island Mussels with Garlic Bread. I was shocked to see the mussels were prepared out of their shells. It was a nice switch and the side garlic bread was perfect for dipping and scooping up the mussels. The last time I stopped for a Boulavardier, OMG it was delicious and refreshing. I've learned to ask a bartender if they know how to make one, because so many of the young ones do not. This bartender told me it was the owners favorite cocktail, so it definitely knew how to make one. He nailed it. As my appetizer this evening I choose, Calamari. I have never seen such large pieces of Calamari. I breading was light and crisp. I'm not a dipper, so I really didn't try the sauce. I just simply enjoyed the Calamari. The service is attentive as you'd expect at an upscale steakhouse.

It's one of a very few places in the area that isn't a chain, isn't just burgers and pizza, and also isn't pretentious or overpriced. The service is always friendly and knowledgeable. We've been there at least ten times and only once was the service slow. It was an anomaly because they're usually really on top of things. Ambiance is a friendly, but upscaled downtown cafe/bar place that is perfect for taking out-of-towners or a fun brunch with the ladies. (They have a separate brunch menu on Saturdays!) I don't drink, so I can't comment on their drink selections. I'm taking away a star because the parking situation is annoying, especially during construction. There is street parking or a huge parking lot in the back. However, the back parking lot is a terrible hodgepodge of concrete and asphalt and a gazillion potholes and no super clear direction on how to get to the restaurant. Some signage would go a long way in helping customers to not only find parking, but once parked, to them navigate back to the little crevice where the back door is located. The back porch is located behind a larger portion of the structure and you can't see it from the parking lot. Additionally, if you have anyone in your party with mobility issues, it's next-to-impossible to park near enough to the door to make a difference. The handicapped parking spots are 40 yards away from the back door. All that said, we will def go back because there's nothing else like it in the area.

However there was nothing better than the beautiful art work to come. The food presentation was excellent. The garlic cheesebread is to die for. The Cajun chicken pasta was delicious. The salad was good Customer service was amazing. I know there were other customers but our server made us feel like we were the only customers in the place. Before I could think of asking for something she was bringing it. She kept our drinks filled. She asked if we wanted parmesean cheese on our salads and pasta. These put the cheese on our food. We were going to ask for some to go boxes. But she asked us first. Then she said she would take our food and box it for us. She labeled each one and neatly wrapped it in clear plastic. Most restaurants don't do that anymore. Very classy! There is plenty if parking in this strip mall.

You could easily feed a family of 5. Great value! The not so good- Fettucine Alfredo, noodles were mushy, sauce was super hot after 15 minutes, sauce was broken and grainy, assuming they microwaved it right before sent out due to the sauce was broken and the lumpy, grainy texture was very off putting. Spaghetti was just ok, not enough sauce, but thats just my preference. Salad was good, a sweet vinegar and oil Italian.

Being single, I did not want to go to all the trouble and expense of preparing myself a BBQ meal…read morefor Memorial Day. So I drove over to E-ville and had mine at, Edley's Bar B Que. They did a great job and the portions were so large, I got two meals out of my Ribs and Brisket Combo Platter. Brisket was fork tender and the Ribs were fall off the bone tender. Both were good, but my fave was the Ribs. Edley's is an order at the counter establishment. Once you order, you're given a table marker number. When your food is ready, a runner will bring it to you. If you're a soda or tea drinker, you'll order them with your food. If you prefer an adult beverage, you order them separately at the bar. I aways sit at the bar any way, so it's easy to order a beer while waiting for my food. Edley's now has their very own, Hazy IPA made by Urban Chestnut Brewing Company. I gave it 4 out of 5 Stars on my Untappd. I liked that a local STL brewery was the one who made it for Edley's. My Combo Platter came with two sides and I chose, Baked Beans and Red Potato Salad. I have always said, if you're eating BBQ, you've got have a side of Baked Beans. Another of my crazy rules is, Potato Salad must be made with Red Potatoes. So when I saw that they advertised their potato salad with red potatoes, I knew I had to have it. The Baked Beans had chunks of brisket in it, which added extra flavor. Even though the potato salad was made with red ones, it needed more white pepper and some more seasonings to make it kick. In addition to the two sides, the platter came with a piece of Jalapeño Cornbread. I'm a jalapeño addict, so it was a winner for me. It was moist and had plenty of little pieces of jalapeños to give it the perfect kick. The young lady at the counter was very perky and made the ordering process easy and smooth. My bartender was friendly and hustled taking care of bar customers and guest who showed up at the take-out window. I arrived around 11:30 AM and soon after, the restaurant filled up inside and on the patio. I was surprised how busy the take-out window was. I guess some folks wanted an easy Memorial Day, too.

They told us it's counter service only, and to head to the opposite side of the dining room (where the exit is located, not the entrance). OK, annoying, but no big deal. I had looked at the menu ahead of time, and we chose this place in great part because they had fish. I knew I wanted the catfish (I'm pescatarian), but it turned out they were out. So we left. There was nothing else I could eat besides the French fries and maybe the slaw. The atmosphere felt nice, though, while we were there. That gets a star.
