One of our favorite Texas Roadhouses was chosen today to celebrate my wife's 74th birthday with her family. We got there at 11:30 to avoid the rush. The food was excellent and our waiter was exemplary. However we were a group of 8 and because there was a group of 15 just before us we had to ARBITRARILY wait 30 minutes because - the manager explained - corporate required a 30 minute wait between large groups. Just a rule. Empty tables. Plenty of staff. Wonderful front desk. This caused a damper for my wife and all of us as we waited 45 minutes ARBITRARILY to FOLLOW A CORPORATE "POLICY". Went on a Saturday for an early family dinner. We checked the waitlist on the app and there wasn't any wait time. By the time we arrived, 20 minutes later, the restaurant was packed. Wait times were at least 20 to 30 minutes out. The host offered us a card for a free appetizer if we were to take a seat at the bar. We obliged. The bartender/server was named Sydney. Excellent, and I do mean excellent service. We were well taken care of. My family ordered their usual...American Cheeseburger for my middle son and New York Strip, cooked medium, for my wife and youngest son. Steaks were delicious and cooked perfectly. I decided to try the Salmon. Great choice. Cooked beautifully. Crispy skin and flaked apart perfectly. As far as the ambiance...Loud. I visited the Edwardsville 3 times in 8 days. 2 of those visits were quite disappointing. The first one I visited on MLK day. This particular day I thought I would change my dinner time to take advantage of the specials they have if you order before 5:00 on Monday through Thursday. I got there at 4:15. Placed my order with the waitress specifying I would like the sirloin meal on special. It was only a $3 savings but what the heck. I was done eating and received my check before 5:00. The receipt didn't show the $3 savings. I question let it and the waitress said that the manager wasn't honoring that special since it was MLK day. REALLY? There were no signs, and it wasn't mentioned to me when i ordered. I let it go. This is pretty petty for a corporation this size. The $3 didn't make me or break me but it really irritated me that I rush to get there in time only to be told the special want happening. Let just say for example that 100 people got there before 5:00 and wanted to save $3 on their meal. That would be $300. This is a pretty minor cost to honor to keep customers happy. I don't know if this was a corporate decision or an individual restaurant decision but it was ridiculous the way they handled it. Visited this restaurant on 1/31/26 around 2:30 pm. The experience was very disappointing. Took 30 minutes to get a beer after we ordered at our table. When the server brought out the salads, they only brought 3 of the 4 ordered. Took a long time to get the other salad. When the meals were delivered they only brought out 3 of the 4 meals. The steaks were not cooked as ordered. It took a long time for the last meal to be delivered and the steak which was ordered as medium rare was cooked well done. I ordered the chicken Caesar salad from Texas Roadhouse online September 26, 2025. Estimated time for pick up was 8:15pm. After standing outside for over fifteen minutes, the food was finally done at 8:32pm. I mistakenly didn't check my order before I left the restaurant (it was late and I was coming from out of town), so I went straight to my hotel. I opened my bag to find this disgusting, wilted, stale salad. But then it came back the second time basically raw, rare as could be. At this point, I told them medium rare would've been fine, but somehow they couldn't even get close to that. By the time I finally got something I could eat, my family had already been sitting there done with their meals for nearly an hour and a half. Think about that--an hour and a half just to get a steak cooked anywhere near right. My wife's steak was fine, my kid's meal was fine, but mine was a total train wreck. What made this even worse was the manager's attitude. At first, she was apologetic, but as the situation dragged on, her friendliness evaporated. Instead of owning the issue and making it right, she treated me like I was the problem. I wasn't asking for a freebie, wasn't demanding a discount--I paid full price. All I wanted was what I ordered. That's it. But instead, I was made to feel like an inconvenience for expecting basic competence in the kitchen. Upon our arrival we were told there was a two hour wait before we could be seated. To be honest, we only waited about 25 mins before they sat us at our table. Expect to be a wait from anywhere between 15 minutes to an hour so make sure to plan and reserve a table before if possible. Usually always pact and loud inside but that's normal. Our server Caleb was no pleasant. Would not let my 7 year old daughter order the kids meal because she looked older than 12. She is 7!! Just because she's a little chubby doesn't mean she needs an adult meal. Very rude. My meal with onions had a piece of plastic in with the onions, which I was not pleased about. So I asked the waiter is this $13.79 he say yes so I ordered for both of us the same thing. So we ate our salad and we always take the dinner home for later I ask for Togo plates and the check. Went here recently for the first time and we enjoyed ourselves, for the most part. Our server was great and attentive and checked in with us frequently. The restaurant was a bit loud, but it's about what you expect from a busy chain. And overall, our food was pretty good. The rolls and the blooming onion were by far the stars of the show. My chicken critters and baked potato were also great. Unfortunately I got the add-on of a small sirloin and it was super tough. It hurt my jaw just to chew it, and it was difficult to cut through. My husband didn't have the same issue but he got the ribeye. I also got a Caesar salad as one of my sides but didn't eat much as it was pretty flavorless. Overall we had plenty of food (and leftovers) and enjoyed most of it, and we'll probably be back to try other things sometime. read more

Our waitress was fantastic, the food was amazing. But we were freezing. No one around us even took their coats off. The weather outside on Thursday, November 21 was horrible with the worst wind ever. The chill factor was in the 20's and then to walk into a great restaurant and there wasn't much heat at all. Came here with a friend for dinner. We arrived around 3pm, was told it would be a 25-35 minute wait for a table, but seating was available at the bar 1st come, 1st served. We sat at bar. It took about 10 mins for bartender to take our drink order (she was quite busy), then about another 10 minutes for her to take our food order. In the meantime a bread basket was a brought. Delicious. The best part of the meal. I try to take into consideration these days that most restaurants are short staffed. We both ordered the grilles shrimp dinner. Can come with or without rice and 2 sides. I got rice with mine, my friend did not. I had mashed potatoes with white gravy and corn as my sides. My friend got baked potato and steamed vegetables (baby carrots and broccoli). The shrimp was described as seasoned, grilled and served with lemon pepper butter, melted. When my plate was placed in front of me, I noticed that 3 of the shrimp seemed burned. Not blackened, burned. Picked one up, it was hard. So I called the bartender over and explained could I get 3 replacement shrimp for the 3 burned ones. Within a few minutes she had brought the replacement shrimp. Well, they were also overcooked. Very dry. My friend commented that her "steamed vegetables" were hard - not steamed much at all. She said her baked potato was overdone, mushy. Before we were finished an male employee came to ask if our dinners were ok. I just shook my head no. He inquired. I explained my shrimp, and his reply was that the seasoning was "blackened" and when cooked it took on the char look. I already know this and explained the shrimp weren't blackened rather burned. He went on with his explanation and I then asked why my friends' veggies were not steamed long enough. He replied they do steam them, but if you want them "soft" you have to ask for them to be "double steamed". What?!?! I thought steamed vegetables were supposed to be soft. Let me put it this way - if they had been steamed why did the carrots still have the "white" exterior like when you take baby carrots out of the package? I wanted to say save your lousy excuses for someone who may buy them. Didn't want to complain too much bc I know a lot of businesses ARE short staffed. But any cook/chef worth their salt, no matter how busy, should have known better than to send burned food out on a plate. The picture I am submitting with this review was of the replacement shrimp. Went to Texas Roadhouse today to celebrate my father-in-laws birthday. Arrived around 11 and had only a brief wait to be seated. Restaurant was clean and staff was friendly. Our server was attentive and polite. The steaks were all cooked to the correct temperature and everything tasted good, except I didn't really care for the cheese on the potatoes skins, I prefer shredded cheese or a cheese sauce vs sliced cheese...this cheese almost had a rubbery feel to it. Another thing to note is the Blue Crush lemonade is good, but very sweet and a little thick from the syrup. After 2 glasses I was ready to switch to water. Also my father-in-law had his steak loaded with onion, mushrooms, and cheese and he commented that there were way too many onions (consider asking them to go light on the onions if you want to avoid this). This is a wonderful place for a great night out.. My wife and I went in right after opening and were seated right away. We were served fresh rolls and butter as we sat down. Hannah served us, took our order, and brought our drinks within 2 or 3 minutes. We ordered the Cactus Blossom as an appetizer and it was presented hot and delicious within 15 minutes. Steaks came 15 minutes later, all hot and tender. Hannah checked on us several time during dinner. Great food and 5-star service! We'll be back. All their sides are amazing, and the rattlesnake bites, chefs kiss! they may be on a 2 hour wait, but rightfully so, I do appreciate their call ahead setting on yelp since they don't do reservations. The main draw was it was my daughter's 12th birthday and she wanted the birthday experience, with which they did a GREAT job. Our server - Mady - was fantastic. She was sweet, attentive and had a great personality. Overall, the food was just so salty! The kids shared a steak which they liked, but the fries were completely over-salted! My husband's grilled shrimp and my portabella chicken were ok, but again, just so crazy salty. By far the worst experience that we've ever had at a Texas Roadhouse. For starters, I worked for Texas Roadhouse for 5 years and this location should be embarrassed. First, we waited 20 minutes before we ever got our drinks. Only for the cups to have stuff floating everywhere. Then, when we asked for sweet tea, of course we were given unsweet. The bowls for our salads were hot and fresh out of the dishwasher, it was very obvious to the touch. The shrimp was BONE DRY. It tasted like rubber and was tough to chew. My steak was supposed to be cooked medium, I had a bleeding steak. The trash at the server station was overflowing and we watched several waitresses at a time lean on it and play with one another's hair instead of cleaning up the area that we were trying to eat next to. Lastly, there was toilet paper and trash every where in the women's AND the men's restroom. In order to use the restroom, you have to clean it for yourself beforehand. If I could give this location a zero star then I would. And just to add to this, they were super slow. The section we were in wasn't full, we had a party of 4 and arrived at 7pm and there was NO WAIT. We spent $100 on our dinner AND NOT WILLINGLY. We had planned a special Dinner to celebrate my Girlfriend and Sister in Laws Birthdays at the Edwardsville, Illinois Texas Roadhouse. There was to be 8 of us. 6 of us were there at 4pm but were informed at 4pm that 2 of our guests were stuck in traffic and would be late. At 4:30pm we got called up but were told that if our "entire" party were not present we would NOT be seated. It was 4:30pm, the TR was literally empty. I inquired if we could be seated anyway so we could have appetizers & drinks {even if it was at their completely EMPTY Bar??}, we were told flat out NO several times by staff & management. At 5:15pm our last 2 guests arrived but were then informed we were "Automatically" placed on the bottom of the wait list and it would be a minimum of an additional 30 minutes, yet TR was still at minimal capacity. The additional 30 minutes turned into 90 and were finally "seated" in a booth for 4, the 2 tables next to us were empty but we were denied to add 1 extra table very rudely by the Manager who, by the way, was the rudest Manager I ever dealt with in a nearly empty TR. Our waitress finally came by for a drink order at 7pm...we ordered drinks and immediately ordered dinner. Drinks & Salads were brought at 7:15pm. Our dinner finally showed up at 7:45. 3 of us had ordered 8oz Sirloins, 1 ordered a 12oz Ribeye, 1 ordered a Filet and 2 ordered Roadkill. 4 of the 5 steaks were ordered Medium Rare and 1 Rare. All 5 steaks were a minimum of Well and several too hard to too tough to cut including the Filet! Half way through our server came to check. I told her for a "3+ hour wait" at least they could have checked the food and she had to get "Manager" approval to re-fire all 5 steaks, she came back and said..."If you ate too much of the steak, they would not replace them" Several had only took a few bites and the Rare was uneaten...She took our plates and told us she would hide it from management. It took them almost an additional 30 minutes to replace the steaks they ruined along with a rude visit from the "Service Manager" who said he "Doubted the complaint and reiterated the delay wasn't his issue!". Now in our party of 8 there to spend a good deal of money was my 84 year old Father and 82 year old Mother, my Father is in very frail condition that they were aware of but showed zero concern or empathy. 2 of us came from out of State to join the gathering. Our 2 guests were delayed due to an accident, I am in Stage IV Heart Failure and am a Disabled Veteran as well as my Brother & his wife is a Heart & Stroke victim. We were showed the absolute worst Service & Meal ever. The bill came to $268 but regardless, we added a $60 tip for our server {who only started 2 weeks ago} because she was the only one out of the entire staff that showed the first bit of understanding! She actually stated that she was embarrassed over the entire situation! I will never return to Edwardsville TR again, nor will the other 7, nor would I accept any excuse, the Management had multiple chances to rectify the situation and failed 100%. IF I were in TR's management/ownership chain, I would fire every Manager and floor staff from bottom to top there without recourse! Fair warning to any and all future customers of Edwardsville TR, if you want to get disrespected, ignored, mistreated and angered, by all means, please go! If you want to be treated kindly, fairly and served decent food, find another place as fast as you can. We were there over 4+ hours, the occasion was completely wrecked and had to calm down several family members for what TR had done. Finally, I will say, TR is one of our families' favorite places, I can say from 20+ years of experience of eating at the Kirkwood Missouri TR, never had we ever been treated so poorly NOR never had a bad food experience or even had to return a steak. Kirksvilles Manager is Top Shelf! Edwardsville TR, you had your chance and you 100% failed on every aspect except for a 19 year old 2 week new hire server! We were hoping for 1 table for all of us so we could talk, celebrating 3 birthdays, all in the same week. What we got was 2 tables across the aisle with a pullout and a chair, even though we had informed them that we needed a place for a high chair, hence the pullout. Had to almost yell at the ones sitting across the aisle because of the noise levels. The waitress tried to help us but was unable because they don't have tables that can seat 10. The manager came by and we voiced our displeasure the seating. He volunteered to give us 2 blooming onions to placate us. We ordered our drinks and dinners, got some bread when we were seated which was gone almost immediately. The manager came by to explain that the 2 of us that had ordered the prime rib that they were OUT of it. We then changed to Ribeye steaks. When our dinners arrived we noticed that one of the ribeye didn't look like the other. The waitress swore that it was a ribeye. It didn't taste like a ribeye. The manager even told me it was a ribeye. I've had some steaks that were less than good but this one was more grisly and fat than meat, kind of like a bad strip steak. Definitely not coming back.
