Wings special $1 each! They were huge!
    Melissa P.

We didn't enjoy our first visit as much and only come to EVille about once a month. Tonight I wanted wings and decided to try again based on reviews. SO GLAD we did! Tonight's special was $1 wings and they were big, juicy and so full of flavor! I also tried the grits and my husband had beans. Both were good.

**Tried** going to Edley's. First, the flow of traffic was really confusing. You enter near a counter at the kitchen, there was no sign telling us to wait or seat ourselves or what, and so we waited until we caught someone's eye. They told us it's counter service only, and to head to the opposite side of the dining room (where the exit is located, not the entrance). OK, annoying, but no big deal. I had looked at the menu ahead of time, and we chose this place in great part because they had fish. I knew I wanted the catfish (I'm pescatarian), but it turned out they were out. So we left. There was nothing else I could eat besides the French fries and maybe the slaw. The atmosphere felt nice, though, while we were there. That gets a star.

This was our first stop on the road trip and were there on a Tue around 7:30 pm. Lots of free parking and there was no line when we entered the restaurant. We ordered the ribs and brisket platter, which was listed as $24 on the menu and added the jalapeño cheddar hot link for $5 on the menu, yet we were charged for $29.50. The cashier said she didn't know why nor rectified the error. We got our food in about 10 minutes. However, once we got back to the hotel, the food was quite disappointing. The ribs were hard, dry and flavorless. Despite asking for marbled brisket, it was extremely lean which was unfortunate. They also didn't include any pickles or onions, which you usually get with barbecue in the South. Overall, it wasn't really our cup of tea. We're glad we tried it, but we don't plan on returning, even if we were in the area again.

Friendly service. Brisket sandwich was delicious but could stand to be hotter, baked beans were good and so were the fries. Very nice decor. Little expensive for what you get. Would also like a little more selection of bbq sauce.

This place has a typical rustic look. You know it is a barbecue restaurant. The service was very good. The food was tasty. I had a brisket. It was good but could have been more tender. The wings were delicious. My coworkers enjoyed their meal as well. But my coworkers went back. One got the wings again. She was very disappointed. This time they were overcooked. But they day we all went they were great.

Unfortunately we went late Sunday night so they were out of a lot of items but! That encouraged me to try something different. We still received great food and good service. This is my boyfriends favorite bbq restaurant and we've never had a bad experience.

Went here again today. Brisket is amazing! Green beans are good also. The kids meal is only $4.50 and it was a nice sized sandwich. The service is always great. Everyone is efficient and friendly. The music is always good country music. Highly recommend this place. Rare I think the food is worth the money anymore but here, it is.

Turkey Platter with Bean Salad and Mac and Cheese

My first time trying Edley's was over five years ago in Nashville, Tennessee. I was super excited when the O'Fallon, Illinois location opened up! I've been to the O'Fallon location a couple times now, but I was in the Edwardsville area and decided to give this location a try. Once again, I'm very impressed. Edley's has never let me down! The interior was super clean and inviting. We placed our order at the counter, picked a table, and enjoyed our food in a very timely manner. They have an expansive menu, especially with their wide variety of sides. I absolutely love the bean salad and the mac and cheese for sides. My favorite entree is the turkey platter. When the employee brought my food out, he explained to me that he highly prioritizes the presentation of the food, and he apologized that my turkey wasn't looking exactly how he wanted it to because it kept falling apart as he arranged it. To be completely honest, I totally wouldn't have noticed any differences, but the fact that he was so personable and took the time to check in really meant a lot! I'm not a huge BBQ lover, but even I really enjoy Edley's. Even my partner who is from Kansas City and grew up with KC BBQ completely approves of this place!

Once again, Yelp needs to provide us with a half star. Unfortunately for Edley's, I have rolled down, instead of up. It was a hard call, so that is why I want that 1/2 star. I've eaten in at the bar and have gotten carry-out, so I have experienced both services. Personally, for me it is best to dine-in. I live 20 minuets away, so the freshness and warmth are gone by the time I get home. I have enjoyed their wings and Burnt Ends and would recommend them both. Their cornbread is better than other BBQ joints in STL. I'm wavering on the Baked Beans, but they are above average. Their Man-n-Cheese could be a little cheesier, but the flavor and creaminess are good. Fries are top notch, they're crispy on the outside with a hot and soft inside. The Ribs here are a big, no thanks. I've ordered a half-rack and they were full of gristle. The flavor was good, but the meat itself was the disappointment. On my last visit, they were advertising a 32 oz Pork Steak that they offer on Saturday and Sunday. I'm planning to go back and try it, because I am a huge fan of a juicy Pork Steak. It's an order at the counter and find a seat restaurant. The order takers are cordial. I always sit at the bar and enjoy adult beverages and the bartenders are super friendly. The ambiance is very contemporary and when weather permits, the outside seating is very welcoming.

Hot chicken sandwich with grits casserole and Mac and cheese

Finally got to check this place out as it is still considered new in my town. Menu kind of seemed limited, and the bartender (who waited on me) said they were out of a lot of things. Even most sodas. But I know better to hold anything like that against a new independent business. I got the hot chicken platter with two sides. Went with the mac and cheese (which was I believe a dollar or two extra) and grits casserole. Portions seemed small, but I was still full when I walked out. Sandwich was pretty good. Would love to try some of their other meats. Be aware that they do not serve french fries of any kind...not even sweet potatoes. They heavily advertise their alcohol selection, mostly consisting of craft brews. I was kinda shocked they did not have non-Coke or Pepsi sodas there but everything can't be perfect. I'll be back in the future.

Sampler plate with brisket, pork, and chicken

We love BBQ! We are also picky about it. Our go-to would be Pappy's or Bogarts (Dexter Queen if we are in Southeast Missouri :) ) but we always like to try new places. Husband placed a to-go order on Wednesday 02/01 and drove home about 35 minutes with it. I took that into consideration when trying and reviewing. Wings, Sample Plate with Brisket, pork, and chicken. Sides of mac & cheese and coleslaw. Cornbread came with the meal. Wings were really good. They were large and meaty and had a good smoky flavor. The buffalo sauce that came on the side was really good. Had a good kick to it. On a to-go order I didn't expect the sauce to be on top of the me at. I have no idea why I thought that, so that was on me! It wasn't as big of deal as it could have been. The added sauces were decent. Brisket was too dry for me - could have been a result of the long drive home. It did have good flavor. Pork - really surprised by this one as it had a good smoke flavor. Most pork from other places doesn't have much flavor at all, smoke or otherwise. Pulled chicken was really good, juicy and went well with the white BBQ sauce. Sides were both ehh. The cornbread was fine. Ranch dressing rating is a thumbs up.

    Fat Elvis on draft!!!

Edley's BBQ is pretty good and the location/ambiance really good for a BBQ joint. Sometimes, you have to wait a long time for your food.

The food had good flavor, and the cucumber salad was especially fresh and really excellent. Even though I am thrilled to have one on the IL side of the river, it's a half hour drive to enjoy. The other day I was running errands and shopping in Edwardsville. I made it a point to do it around the lunch hour, so I could enjoy an calzone. I ordered at the counter as you do and lucky for me, the cashier was patient with me. As I ordered, I kept reading the menu and changed my mind two times and finally stayed with my third choice. Having a love of jalapeños, Pancho Villa was my final choice. Pancho Villa not only gave my fresh jalapeños, it was also filled with red peppers, smoked cheddar, Mozzarella and the meat was Chorizo prepared in Smoked Chili Oil. Yum-Yum and no heartburn. For dipping or spreading on top, I was given a cup of Queso. One nice thing about SOTS, is they offer adult beverages. They have an excellent selection of local craft beers and wines to pair with your calzone. I paired mine with, Pale Ale from Schlafly. The dining room is clean and crisp. It's done in an industrial style. They have regular tables and a few hightop tables, so you can choose which one is best for you. On the tables you'll find linen napkins with reusable flatware. If you can eat an entire calzone, I am impressed. For those of us who cannot, next to the soda machine is a stack of eco-friendly to-go boxes to put your leftovers in, to take home.

It's one of a very few places in the area that isn't a chain, isn't just burgers and pizza, and also isn't pretentious or overpriced. The service is always friendly and knowledgeable. We've been there at least ten times and only once was the service slow. It was an anomaly because they're usually really on top of things. Ambiance is a friendly, but upscaled downtown cafe/bar place that is perfect for taking out-of-towners or a fun brunch with the ladies. (They have a separate brunch menu on Saturdays!) I don't drink, so I can't comment on their drink selections. I'm taking away a star because the parking situation is annoying, especially during construction. There is street parking or a huge parking lot in the back. However, the back parking lot is a terrible hodgepodge of concrete and asphalt and a gazillion potholes and no super clear direction on how to get to the restaurant. Some signage would go a long way in helping customers to not only find parking, but once parked, to them navigate back to the little crevice where the back door is located. The back porch is located behind a larger portion of the structure and you can't see it from the parking lot. Additionally, if you have anyone in your party with mobility issues, it's next-to-impossible to park near enough to the door to make a difference. The handicapped parking spots are 40 yards away from the back door. All that said, we will def go back because there's nothing else like it in the area.
