Wow... how have I not been a constant customer here? I'd share pics, but I ate my portion way too quickly! I took the hostess' recommendation since I was torn between the adobo pork tacos and the 2 meat platter. She suggested sampling just 1 of the tacos and then also getting the 2 meat platter; allowing a good perusal of the offerings there. So delicious was the taco that I was genuinely sad I only had the one. The cilantro crema really highlighted the smoky pork perfectly. It was a short sadness though since I dove into the platter next. I got the pulled pork and shrimp platter with 5 cheese mac-n-cheese and coleslaw. The only better pulled pork I've had is made by my husband. Really impressed with the hostess, the food, and the quickness for takeout. The store is spacious and set up nicely without pretension. The only complaint I can come up with is the location/parking area isn't the best. It's tucked away behind a crappy roadway and parking can be a bit tight for bigger vehicles. It's been a long time since I came to fire and smoke. My memories are all good. I suspect that it's still as good today as it was then. But I'm afraid my brisket sandwich did not live up to my memory. The good news is that the twister fries were excellent though not as hot as they should've been. But they were acceptable or I would have returned them. On the downside, I'm afraid of the brisket was fairly tough. Honestly, I've never made brisket. So I can't tell them how to fix that. I still enjoyed it. But I didn't quite finish it and it's very unusual. They deserve another try and I will be back. read more

Consistently good food. Not what I ordered this time, but the brisket tacos are exceptional. We usually get the 3-meat platter that comes with two sides and bread and butter. The burnt ends were the star of the show, so juicy! My brisket was a tad dry. They also put the sauce in the fridge so it's cold, but there might not be a way to avoid that food-safety wise. Their wings are also really good. The mac-n-cheese side is good. You order at the counter and they give you a number and bring your food out to you. The only other thing I don't love is there's two rooms, the main room and a room off to the side, and especially if you are in the side room, it feels like you are crammed in there with a ton of other people and sometimes it gets really loud. I stopped in here after a doctor's appointment and it's just what I needed. I got the Peppered Turkey platter, with Mac n cheese and the potato twisters for my sides and a Ski to drink. I live in St. Louis now, but i grew up in Illinois and man, I had missed the taste of Ski haha! The staff was friendly and it wasn't too busy when we stopped in (around 12:30pm) on a Tuesday. I really enjoyed the Mac n cheese and would definitely get the platter again. The platter was a little pricey, but I was able to take a lot of the food home with me and I'll enjoy it as another meal later on, so I think it's worth it ($21 pre tax, I believe). We had also ordered a kid's meal to go and I was told that it was fresh and tasty as well! We would definitely stop in again for some good eats. read more

As soon as we walked in, the smell was incredible and definitely made us excited to eat. The setup was easy--you order first, find a seat, and they bring the food out to you. Service was quick, and everyone was friendly and helpful. We ordered the platters, which came with one meat and two sides. The food had good flavor, and the cucumber salad was especially fresh and really excellent. The only downside was that the meat portions felt pretty small for the price, which was a little disappointing. Wife & I stopped in early afternoon (1-2pm) February 3rd, 2026. Coming in the door we were impressed at the lay-out, it looks authentic for a BBQ place with plenty of room for her power wheelchair. I had a 2 meat platter, pulled pork & shrimp with mac & cheese & baked beans, wife had wings. To say were impressed in an understatement, the food was fresh, which that early we weren't expecting fresh but hoping for it since most BBQ places at that hour serve yesterday's leftovers warmed in a microwave but NOT HERE! Had the brisket burnt ends. The cook was good, could have had a bit more flavor and the point wasn't separated from the flat so had the meat cut with the striation in two different directions so made it a little more difficult to eat. Service was great, ambiance was good. read more

What a surprise these guys were. I opted for the nachos with pork - and can honestly say that I've never had more tender pork. Being as there were several flavors layered, it's difficult to say how the pork was flavored on it's own, but, mixed in, it was a very solid dish. I was extremely happy with my choice. The hubs opted for the sandwich, which had multiple meats and he had no real complaints, aside from a piece of gristle that was missed. The beans are very meaty & delish. Drinks are self-serve, with cups presented when the order is placed at the counter. Food is delivered to the table by order number. Serving sizes are ample. Everyone had leftovers, tho I didn't take mine home, as something about reheated nachos sounded less than appealing. Wanted to like this place, but it's got some issues. The food generally was pretty good. I had a brisket plate with potato salad and beans all of which were very good. Wife had fish tacos, which were OK. And The first issue is that you have to order in line which is not a big deal unless you want a refill on a beer or to go back and get dessert. Had to wait in an 8 to 10 person line each time, The second issue was the food runner was absolutely hating working there. I think she dropped our food from about 5 inches off the table, and I watched her do this with another couple as well. She just seemed angry and very unhappy. The last thing was cleanliness. We sat outside For a little over an hour and they didn't bus a single table, clean anything or really check on any customers. The tables were not clean at all. Only two of the tables had paper towels on them so if you didn't grab some on the way out, you had to go back into the restaurant. one of the doors was locked so you either had to go back in through the front entrance or back through the door the food runner used. The patio was super dirty. You can see the picture of the trashcan that doesn't look like it's been cleaned in forever. There was a lot of trash around the edge of the patio in the flower bed. Just doesn't look like they take care of the place. Seems very popular, but with some of the issues it makes you wonder. read more

Food: got the Texas burger, adobo pork tacos, Mac and cheese, twisted fries Burger was 3.5/5 on taste and 4.5/5 on weight/fullness. Overall easy 4/5 for the burger. - The patties were had a nice mild char, just a bit dry but it was fine. Patties seemed more like 1/3 lb than 1/4 lb. - Brisket was decent. Not dry. Decent bark. Fairly soft. Had a light smoke flavor. I'd say it's about 3/5 or average if you are into brisket and maybe a 4/5 if you haven't had much brisket. The burger had a pretty good slab of brisket, probably comparable to a 1/4 patty. The brisket fat/oil helps moisturize the patties. - overall the amount of meat in the burger was substantial and will likely get you full and happy. For the price I think the burger and fries are good value. Mac and cheese was spectacular. For the price and value I'd give it an easy 5/5. Texture is great. The toasted cheese crust was great. There are five cheeses (at least that's what it says), and the taste of the cheese is quite complex but not overwhelming. The cheese had a nice grainy texture but was also nice and gooey. I'm normally not a mac and cheese person either so yeah it was really good. Fries are fine. Nothing special. Pretty much what you'd expect. So 3/5? If you're choosing between the fries or Mac and cheese, def get the Mac and cheese. Okay on to the adobo pork tacos.... I'm really sorry but it was just a miss and a mess (not the good kind of mess). 1/5. First of all, the pulled pork wasn't bad tbh, there's actually a really nice texture and char. But with the bbq sauce, cole slaw, cilantro cream, and idk what else, it's just a terrible mix. On top (or bottom) of that, there's an entire cesspool of oil.
