Overall, a pretty good place. I came on a Sunday night with my extended family and they were able to see the party of seven pretty quickly. I've been here before and the food is pretty good. We got an appetizer of a special eggroll that they had and I got the fajita bowl with chicken, I don't think anybody at our table is too impressed with the eggroll and my fajita was lacking a bit of flavor. But I know that a lot of their pastors are really good because I've come here before and you just have to find what on the menu that you really like. Our server was nice and helpful and the inside of the restaurant is super cutely decorated. Seems like a really great spot for a date night or to go and listen to some of their live music. Bakers & Hale is probably one of the if not the most popular restaurants in the Riverbend area. They are know for their amazing bands on the patio, which is year round and a pretty decent Happy Hour. The other day I meet up with some of my cousins for Happy Hour. I cannot go wrong with one of the HH pizzas. Three of the six cousins, ordered pizza with different toppings. I went with the HH Taco's. I enjoyed Two Shrimp Taco's for only $7. The HH pizzas are $10. Three cousins went with the regular menu and enjoyed salads, chicken wings and chicken strips/tenders. Everyone was pleased with their food. The only thing keeping B&H from getting 5 Stars is the service. It's never consistent. One time it's over the top and the next time it's the bare minimum. It really depends on who you get as a server. The seasoned ones who have been for a long time, know how to work a table. The newer and younger ones, just don't get it. Greta place to hangout and eat some good food! The atmosphere was great and you even have some live music. I enjoy the way the place is setup! The service was average, nothing special with their hospitality. I give the food an 8/10. Queso and salsa was great, but not nothing crazy for a Texan. The burger, however, pleasantly surprised me! Went in blind (almost literally, was coming from eye appointment, dilated and wearing sunglasses). That being said it is a nice looking place, lots of wood and clean lines. The decoration, while extensive is all subtle and works with the overall vibe of the place. Our food did take a bit to come out, I think we arrived right at the beginning of the lunch surge. It was worth the wait though. My wife got a cheeseburger (The Plain Jane), and fries. She appreciated the nice touch of a lightly toasted bun. I had a Cuban sandwich, and took baked potato for a side. The sandwich seemed small on arrival, but it was actually pretty densely constructed with a good blend of meats. The potato had a great texture. I was quite satisfied, and had to take a pause and deep breath for the last bite of sandwich. Now the funny thing was our lovely young server was a Scarlett Johansen look alike, so much so that my wife and I both had a stunned moment when she walked over. Went on a Sunday afternoon for lunch with a group of 7. We were seated on the heated patio which was very spacious. The over head heaters were heating! Our party had the spinach dip for appetizer, brisket, wings, pizza, pork steak, Mac n cheese, greens one more dish I can't remember. Let's just say there is a COOK in the kitchen and there were no left overs! We were there when the band started. It was a trio that looked like high school or college students. The music was decent. Been here twice now and I've come to the conclusion it's one of the better restaurants in the Godfrey, Alton, Bethalto area, really anywhere north east of Edwardsville. It's got a nice casual pub vibe with a huge patio adjacent to the large indoor dining room and bar. Had lunch today with my dad and his girlfriend. Our waitress was excellent. She was informative, kind and helpful. I love that they have extensive daily specials. Sundays was fried chicken with a side for $11. I got the Asian salad with grilled chicken. It was great salad! Another amazing visit to Bakers and Hale! Hadn't been in a while but it never disappoints. Met up with friends and it was hopping. Had to sit outside for a while to wait for a table but enjoyed a cocktail and the band playing. Once we got our table, service was quick and courteous. We enjoyed a variety of burgers, a pizza, and several of us had salads and the tomato bisque. The Brussels sprouts were delish. The food is great. The patio is nice. This is one of the best places to eat in the riverbend area.I would give it 5 stars... but the curb side situation is consistently frustrating. First, don't come on time. It will never be ready. Be a few minutes. Second, do not park where the designated curb side parking markings are before and after the awning. They will never see you. Plant your car under the awning straight in front of the doors. You have to. It's the only way they will see you within ten minutes, without leaving you guessing if they are going to come out to your car. Meanwhile, you get uncomfortable looks from well dressed people, because you have to park in front of the door. This should be addressed, as I have heard the same from several of our friends. Otherwise, we love going here... we just dread curbside, but it's a healthy alternative that tastes great compared to other carry out places. read more

They serve it over a spiral noodle that's tossed in parmesan and garlic, which is a much better choice than spaghetti, and the chicken is so crispy. Best brussels sprouts, too, for that matter. I dream about them, they're so tasty. The only thing we weren't that impressed with were the brisket quesadillas, which didn't have much flavor, but maybe it was an off day. Our party of four waited over two hours for our food on Mother's Day. The kitchen was backed up as it was very busy. It would have been nice if they would have told us there was that kind of wait time, then we could have gone to another restaurant. On top of that, one meal had the fried chips ordered with it. I tried Bakers & Hale for the first time a few weeks ago, and it was delicious! I had their chicken tacos, and a side salad and I was not disappointed. You could tell this was a place that the locals frequent and understandably so because it is a very friendly welcoming atmosphere. The staff was very attentive and worked very hard please. The food was OK, and to be fair, it is very hard to judge a place when you stop by in the middle of the afternoon when they're not busy and are getting ready for the evening rush. My friend and I settled on a lunch special buffalo chicken sandwich combo with (a goat cheese candied walnut) salad for my side, and fish tacos with a side Caesar. The salads were large, crisp and so well prepared. My goat cheese, apple, and candied walnut salad was exquisite with the arugula mix and tangy vinaigrette..so good! The sandwich was the same: perfectly crispy, juicy chicken, great sauce and toasted bun: better than Popeyes! My friend raved about her fish tacos as well. The fish portion was huge and fried to crisp perfection. All our food disappeared quickly. The service was great, food came out fast, the restaurant clean, modern and inviting. 1.5 stars if i could. And that 1.5 comes from the service staff. Waitress was amazing, no wait time, food came out quickly, even though it was very busy. However, for $44 i will not go there unless someone else is picking up the bill. The person I was with had to send their entire meal back for being undercooked and over seasoned, and I had to get a replacement bun for my burger, which was just uncomfortably overdone. Another person in my group had a pizza, which was good except for the pepperoni. The fries with my burger also just weren't that good, i've had better food from cheaper places all in all. The restaurant was also extremely loud. We were inside, not on the outside with live music, but it was so loud we could barely understand each other. Farm to table in Godfrey - Amazing food, great service, great atmosphere! I'm originally from the area and know the restaurant scene here - this is elevated casual and much welcomed! They have rocking bands/music on the patio with craft cocktails and beers to wash it down. I had a peach cocktail that was delicious! I was quite impressed with the food. The salad with bacon to start was my favorite, followed closely by the burger. Burger was not huge but super tasty and reasonable portion. I do think that the natural cut fries were a bit soggy - they need to be fried twice to get more crispy. The fries were my only criticism of the meal. Caesar salad was great too. Chicken Parm looked delicious. Wait staff was extremely friendly and attentive. Wish I remembered our waitress' name because she was super nice! We tipped extra for great service and you should too. Overall they get 4.5 stars. It's worth the drive to check out, especially if you're on the metro east side. Stay for some music afterwards and have fun! read more
